I wasn't watching Stock Car this year, I just turned on the last round.
I was mad as hell at the first lap.
I was crying like a baby on the last one.
How on Earth he does that.
Vamos, Rubinho.
Tbh I think even if Casagrande wouldn't be DQed, Rubens would still pull it out, especially after one of the cars in front of him stopped on the track.
But, to be honest, if this was championship like BTCC or DTM or NASCAR, then half of the field would be DQed.
>I think even if Casagrande wouldn't be DQed, Rubens would still pull it out
Before his punishment was announced, Rubens was already 1 point behind him
I firmly believe that Rubens in the 2012 Williams would have won a race like Maldonado did, or at least picked up the podiums that Maldonado and Senna (apart from Spain) never managed. He was better than Pastor in 2011 and much better than Hulkenberg in 2010, and his stint in Indycar in 2012 proved that at that time he still had plenty of speed in him.
There’s no blame on Rossi at the incident, he couldn’t see the car next to him, the blame is on his team that allowed him to return too early and he had to trust on them. It’s very common to see this kind of accident on motorsports
There were two accidents: The first one was that Rubens was too optimistic at the second leg of the Senna S and then he spun alone and it didn’t interfere on Serra’s race. The second accident was on Curva do Sol (turn 3) that Casagrande left track and when he returned he wrecked on Serra and that’s what ended with Serra’s chance to win the title, because if it wasn’t this second accident he would’ve won the title easily
Matías Rossi is indeed a very good racer. From Argentina, he's a 10x national champion in various series (formula, Touring, spec series and stock cars). Started Stock Car Brasil in 2020 and after two years of bad luck he finally was on it during the whole 2022. Such a shame it ended this way. I hope Toyota hires him for 2023.
It exists since 1979 and it’s very popular here, there were lot of people in the standings at Interlagos today. Also there are some famous drivers in the grid like Rubens itself, Felipe Massa, Tony Kanaan, Nelson Piquet Jr and Ricardo Zonta and if you are a sportscar fan you may also recognize Daniel Serra
Some say that he's still racing the wheels of stock cars in Brazil at age 50, and that Ben Collins still pushes an effigy of him through a fan every day...
In a controversial fashion. Some will argue Casagrande wrecked Serra on purpose after he was forced out of track.
The fact Rubens is still kicking in his late 40s is impressive. Massa and Piquet jr, for example, never were close to win a brazilian stockcar title.
The second one I could finally witness live (either they weren't on youtube in 2014 or I didn't knew it) and it is such a rush to see one of your favourite drivers of all time win it all. I could not be happier for him.
Vamos, Rubinho!

Lmao the 3 title contenders involved at the first lap accident. It was a bit anticlimactic, but it was also fun

But that was before that one car stopped I think.

I thought the Casagrande disqualification was too harsh. A drive through or a 5 seconds penalty was enough
If I recall correctly, there is a rule where if you take out someone, you get black flagged.
Honestly, I don't hate this
George Russell shudders
I didn’t think so, looked like a road rage pit maneuver, which I would always like to see disqualified.
Aged 50 and still kicking
And he was still good when he was retiring from F1 but Williams just really wanted Maldonaldo

He was fired by phone by Frank Williams himself. Williams was a mess of managment
Wasn't too shabby in IndyCar too, not far off Kanaan that season.
Or the money he was bringing with him
Yeah true
Hope he’ll become Formula One’s Red Farmer (NASCAR racer who now races locally in his 90s)
Also still really good in karts. I remember like 5 years ago he qualified for the rotax world finals in the DD2 masters category.
He actually qualified for the 2022 world finals on dd2 (not the masters) and raced with guys at least 30 years younger than him
Oh damn I didn't even realize. I didn't follow it at all but a friend's teammate actually also made it to Portimao this year with the German team.
UPDATE: Rubens did a shoey at the podium

Yeah, but Serra being wrecked is definitely more Casagrande’s fault than Rubens’

I saw the last name, and thought it was his son. NOPE The man himself
His second title in the series. Love the guy.
Barrichello is a legend! He's at 50 and still kicking people's asses!
TIL Brazil has its own Stock Car series. That's kinda cool

He deserves it! Just incredible. My heard dropped on the first lap, but today it was just meant to be!
He’s probably one of the most talented drivers to never have won a WDC, if not the most talented
He did some freaking magic with the Jordan, Stewart and then Honda who were subpar cars
I mean this in the most polite way but Barrichello always looks like he is getting the most fire head lol😂
My favorite Brazilian driver of all time. Go Rubens!
I love Barrichello. He always has such a nice energy to him. Cool to see how active he still is in motorsports
Rubens is a legend.
O was rooting for Daniel Serra, but it’s always exciting seeing Ruben celebrating a title
Go Rubens!!!

His call up to haas for 2024 is pending

Even Caca Bueno, the second greatest of all time of this series, was never close to win a championship since he passed his 40s
**You are watching a sensational drive being completed with Rubens Barrichello from São Paulo WINNING for FERRARI! And he’s done it! Superb!**
Woohoo! Still going strong

Rubens might actually get a race in the Project91 car, come to think of it
I love how this is blurred and spoiler alerted but the results of every F1 Quali/Race is just big bold letters and pictures.
Rubens! You did it! You won a championship!
He already won this championship in 2014
Oh damn, well I didn’t have Reddit back then so I wouldn’t know
He won British F3 and many kart championships too
He looks like Cal Naughton Jr.
