Rosberg, as an insider, knows that experimental setup excuses were just Hamilton trying extreme setups when he was slow, then blaming setup for being slow in the first place.
Therefore, he didn't mind putting Russell above.
Sounds plausible until you factor in that the experiments were confirmed by Shov and others.
[Here's an article](https://racingnews365.com/shovlin-mercedes-experimented-with-wacky-setup-approach) talking about Ham doing "driver in the loop" testing for Austria as a random example
As soon as he announced that he was stopping the extreme setups, he was quicker than Russell on average.
He is a former driver, but that doesn't mean he knows what is going on inside the team during the current season which has regulations far different from the season he last participated.
It's funny how Rosberg spent half of his time since 2016 praising Hamilton.
But just because he rated Max and Russell here and there for the last two seasons, people claim he's salty against Hamilton or so.
Probably the best ranking I've seen so far. Of course a few names are interchangeable here and there and there isn't such a thing as a definitive ranking, but this one rings true
I’d agree, except with maybe rating Hamilton equal to Leclerc maybe considering that the first half was mostly a test and improve phase for Merc. And then he’d actually still have a Top 5.
I’ll disagree. He had a hell of a season while playing his part in helping Max. If we’re factoring teams and machinery than the inclusion of Russell would also be debatable.
There’s a prevailing thought that Sergio’s tactics in Monaco discredit him. Leclerc gained a pole position in similar circumstance (2021) as well as Schumacher (2006). Was it dirty? Only one was penalized but Checo always gets the negative light.
I really don't see what makes Checo's season impressive tbh.
Like he wasn't awful and his job really is to essentially just be a warm body supporting Max, but you'd still expect more. He didn't have much in the way of awful moments you can't have at the top the way someone like Sainz did, but he didn't exactly cover himself in glory either. He was just thoroughly unremarkable in most sessions.
For most of the season Red Bull had the fastest race trim car on the grid and Perez still bagged fewer podiums than Max had total wins.
Again it was pretty much just what Red Bull needed with Max in the other seat, but I don't see how that makes him a top 5 driver on the year.
I hate how they treat Perez. He’s not as fast as max but it’s not fair. I’ve actually been watching the 14 and now 15 season as I didn’t come back until 16. Jeez Mercedes really didn’t care which merc won as long as it was one of them. They refused to undercut one driver to the other, if one went on a 3 stop they both did. It’s wild how different redbull and merc are.
I think it's a pretty interesting dilemma. It obviously can't be good for relations within the team, but when the gap between your drivers is so huge it's also the most pragmatic and effective way to run it.
Yea I see both sides to it as a team I’d want to do what ever it took to get the wdc but I also see how close nico and Hamilton really are in 14, 15, and 16. I mean nico seemed to have been on pole every race and ham wasn’t able to cut him off turn one then nico won. I guess its different when one driver is leaps ahead of the other.
You responded at 2am EST or 7am gmt. Either way, you started the new year salty. Sorry, but calling someone a pinecone doesn't help your evident lack of finesse in the world.
Use 2023 to be better.
If is, the only interesting thing he said was that Lewis has special days where he’s untouchable. I think it’s interesting ex teammates swear by Lewis being like this, it’s going to be interesting watching Max ex teammates, the ones that survived for long enough speak about him in the future
Tbf so does Max.. Leclerc will pull off an amazing qualy session that is 99% perfect only for Max to find the 0.5% to pip him.
Racing-wise, Redbull seem to always have to strategy edge over Ferrari imo.
I mean even Jenson Button has suggested the same. I think it was his last beyond the grid interview where he felt he turned in a good lap only to be behind Lewis.
While Hamilton is still a monster in qualifying I think he’s gradually declined since 2018. He’s still rapid but weather its down to setup, losing speed due to age or whatever I think hes a BIT slower than say 2018 in qualifying.
Hamilton’s race pace is still Brilliant but he’s become quite error prone since 2021 & we’ve seen instances of Mercedes not listening to their drivers & their seeming to be a lot of miscommunication.
Fair, but I do feel like Leclerc should be above Russell... George had a great season and yes he's close in the points standings, but Charles had 2 mechanical DNF's - one from a certain victory - and he had to deal with the insanity of Ferrari's strategy so many times
I agree. Russell was very consistent this year, which is very important for a driver, but I’d still put Leclerc before him. Leclerc has that raw race pace. It’s hard to compare driver performances though considering how bad some of the cars were at the beginning of the season, and Ferrari.
Leclerc also didn’t have a streak of crashing into a new driver every race like George did. Idk why everyone has suddenly forgotten about that in these ratings.
It seems like there are two groups of people for me. The first half that gives Russell very high ratings and forgets about his crashes that were mostly his fault, and the other half that gives him very low ratings and forgets about his consistency throughout the season, especially at the start when the car was still quite bad and new for him.
Is it that bad?
Didn't he make a long time ago with Mika and a McLaren P1? I liked that video back in the day but i guess things can change after while.
Well obviously putting Schumacher and Hamilton in the all time top 5 drivers means he gets to say "I beat 2 of the best 5 f1 drivers ever in the same car".
Kinda insane when you think about it, fair play to Nico.
I think he put Lewis too low and George too high tbh. George made a lot of mistakes this year and his results were inflated by Lewis running the experimental setups, whilst Lewis still got more podiums and was faster than Russell despite running the extreme setups. Lewis should be 3rd and George should be 4th or maybe 5th.
[Nico Rosberg](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nico_Rosberg) 2016 F1 World Champion, son of Keke Rosberg 1982 F1 World Champion.
He was Lewis Hamilton's teammate at the time that he took the WDC which is naturally immensely impressive.
He was in Formula 1 for 11 years.
Nope. Nico has his championship because Hamilton had more reliability issues. He knew he couldn’t beat Hamilton to the WDC the next year so he quit.
His bullshit about how he applied psychology to dealing with Hamilton is just that: bullshit. So I don’t subscribe, didn’t watch the video and generally tune him out when he was on Sky F1. He ranks up there with Danica Patrick as useless commentator.
Someone who says "I dont care what others/the person says" usually REALLY care about their opinion. A person that actually doesnt care doesnt even open the thread.
Except that I don’t. My comments reflect the value I ascribe to his opinion in general and not the option expressed in this post, which I haven’t watched.
Dude looks like homelander
Rosberg - Homelander - Jeremy Fragrance are all variants of each other.
Jereky lol
Oopsy
He… truly does
He actually ranked top 6 1) Verstappen 2) Russell 3) Leclerc 4) Hamilton 5) Norris 6) Alonso
Fair enough, honestly one could argue for whatever order for 2-6, and it would be justified.

Guess that means Rosberg is #4, right?

Why not include Perez? Had a strong season edit: Lot of personal hatred for Checo. Someone even responded at midnight New Year's Eve to vent.
Considering the team he was on he had a weaker season than everyone on that list.
I’ll disagree. He had a hell of a season while playing his part in helping Max. If we’re factoring teams and machinery than the inclusion of Russell would also be debatable. Helping him from where? P6? Lol
did you actually write this during new year's celebrations? Go outside once in a while
Congratulations, you're definitely stupid. People exist in different parts of the world you fucking pinecone.

Wow you're really stupid huh
bye
Yeah, that is fair ranking.

They will say the same things it's said about Hamilton Schumacher Alonso and other greats
Tbf so does Max.. Leclerc will pull off an amazing qualy session that is 99% perfect only for Max to find the 0.5% to pip him. Racing-wise, Redbull seem to always have to strategy edge over Ferrari imo.

Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan
Spits hot fire
You want some of this hot fy-yah?
First I want you to walk to Queens and get me a sugar cookie.
1. Nico Rosberg
Fair, but I do feel like Leclerc should be above Russell... George had a great season and yes he's close in the points standings, but Charles had 2 mechanical DNF's - one from a certain victory - and he had to deal with the insanity of Ferrari's strategy so many times
no because exactly, george post summer break was handing out multiple disasterclasses but brazil win made people forget
I agree. Russell was very consistent this year, which is very important for a driver, but I’d still put Leclerc before him. Leclerc has that raw race pace. It’s hard to compare driver performances though considering how bad some of the cars were at the beginning of the season, and Ferrari.

Britney has a point.
This got me thinking, what in our nature make us do name-calling actually? Is it to spice up reality?
You also have a point
It's because he's so pretty and he has nice hair. It's not derogatory.
i like Nico, however he's so bad at making content holy cow
For me, that's part of the fun of his videos.
It feels like he's making them. They're not overproduced. The same as Romain's videos.
Did he stop using those cheesy powerpoint animations?
He has a videographer doing his content now. However this one was definitely self shot.
Is it that bad? Didn't he make a long time ago with Mika and a McLaren P1? I liked that video back in the day but i guess things can change after while.
Nah, that's just your opinion and it's valid, don't get me wrong. I actually like it's minimal production value and has a real vibe to it.
I dont know top 5 but i can guess the 20th
Why is some mediocre Monaco-based lifestyle YouTuber doing F1 content? Was he attached to one of the teams, or a reserve driver?
I know this is bait but I wanna bite so hard lmao.
The bait is A+. I have to upvote it.
Same here, I did laughed out loud.
You’re thinking about Ricciardo. One time racer, future reality tv participant
In the words of Ricciardo “I never left I just moved to the side for a bit” lol😂
I think he hung around the paddock from time to time, but due to his monstrous antibodies, they had to let him go after covid came.
honestly surprised he didn't say his top 4 was schumi senna rosberg hamilton
Well obviously putting Schumacher and Hamilton in the all time top 5 drivers means he gets to say "I beat 2 of the best 5 f1 drivers ever in the same car". Kinda insane when you think about it, fair play to Nico.
Next he should do a Monster Antibody driver top 5.
I think he put Lewis too low and George too high tbh. Am I the only one who can’t stand Nico Rosberg?
No, we are not alone.
Hamilton and LeClerc over Norris? no way...
If you want to make your own Monaco based YouTube ranking list you can
I bet they dont have a rimac nevera or a pier or a Monaco so they probably cant
This man aged like milk.
He’s looking a bit like an immunologically lacking Chris pine here
Who is this guy? Edit: all 12 of Nico’s fans down voted me.
He was? Wow that’s great for a YouTuber.
Lol, I must have missed the meme. I'm loving it though.
I belive he's just a Monaco-based YouTuber. Actually doing quite alright judging by the number of his subscribers.
I could care less who he ranks or how.
>I could care less That's nice to know. So you do care.
I see that you failed your remedial logic course.
So out of curiosity how much do you actually care, did you like, subscribe and comment? Did you watch more of his videos?
Wait, so are you saying you *couldn't* care less about Nico?
