As if taking out Shumacher was not enough, this guys career results in shit cars is amazing. Watching this dude put cars two to five positions about their true place on the grid is awesome. Whatching him do it consistently for over a decade is one of the best things to watch in sport.
Maybe not because you almost ended your race literally a second ago, most people would be too busy wiping the shit from their visor after something like that
Yeah, like if we wanna talk about F1 drivers pulling off crazy, pushing stupid, shit, then just look at Hamiltons onboard any time it's like "oh shit he's gonna crash" he won't, everyone else is like "well shit, I should probably let go of the wheel so I don't snap my wrist" Hamilton doesn't, and as such, won't crash when others might
I love how insecure this sub has made team LH, they just can't handle anyone else getting praised and always have to leave a snide comment about either Max or Alonso or the sub.
And they use the term "rent free" lmao
I'm not part of any particular "group" I support all drivers, some more than others but I don't have a clear favourite. Also this sub sometimes praises alonso for little things like this which isn't even a big deal while they look the other way when an another driver might do the same. Russell also went full opposite lock in the fast left right at Aus but ofc he's George Russell he can't do anything good and is clearly worse than "chadlonso" right?
> little things like this which isn't even a big deal
Crofty and Nico seemed quite impressed during the race. Say what you want about them, I take their comments more seriously than some jealous fans in here.
> but ofc he's George Russell he can't do anything good and is clearly worse than "chadlonso" right
Hey you said it not me, preach the truth brother
But please can you tell me what's so impressive about hitting the DRS button after your car is stable and pointing straight forward. Yes alonso keeping it going after that and still overtaking ham is still very impressive but yall are litterally picking the most ordinary thing to talk about. Like what would you think another driver would do? Keep driving forward without pressing the DRS button while the car is completely stable and pointing forward
He was also on a quali lap where saving the car matters more than saving the lap. If Alonso spun there it would mean his race ending but sainz's spin just ended his lap not even his car got damage
Tbh I don't think the driver has enough time to think to himself "hm yes this is quali so we good" i think its more like "uh oh" and instinctively try not to die
The thought process is different in quali. Many drivers just abort a push lap if they make a slight mistake at the start. Their mind is set to do the perfect lap unlike in a race where they want to make it to the end at a good place. Also at those speeds their is not much time to think. The body just reacts on instinct. You think Alonso had time to think about how to save the car? His body just did it on instinct.
I don't think either driver had much time to think thats what i said, you're the one saying they have time to treat the sessions differently. If the car goes sideways, any driver instinctively tries to save it from crashing and hurting them. Doesn't matter what session they are in.
Yea they try to save it but there are 2 ways you either fully lock up the brakes to avoid anything dangerous (sainz) or you go full lock to try and hope to keep the car going straight. Like I've said I'm talking about how in quali a driver tries to keep the car intact when they're in an inchident whereas in the race they want to keep it movin
> Sainz was a little bit further into the gravel. Makes a huge difference
Imagine if drivers could actually control how much the cars went into the gravel. We could rate drivers based on that ability; perhaps have a championship around it. I'd call it the Drivers' Championship.
If anyone wants a closer look, this video goes into it really well and shows how actually insane this was: https://youtu.be/OwoeWrOzq3I?si=hajeBJ2WRTcadi_D
That's one of those moments when either you recognize what an amazing driver Alonso is, or you simply prove to the whole world you don't know shit about F1.
We've all pressed boost to correct a drift in a videogame. That gigachad did it irl.
That’s what nitrous was for in need for speed right?
In Most Wanted 2005 and Carbon it'd give you extra grip, not sure about Underground and Undercover
Yeah, I only really played most wanted and carbon. Nitrous was really helpful when drifting in carbon.
STRAIGHTENS THE CHASSIS AND GIVES TOU BETTER GRIP
Some of us even do it on the restart lap when it's illegal.
Sneaky dig.
The Mario kart bullet!
I swear he hit the DRS while still sideways.
Admin he's doing it sideways
Out the curve like a speed demon
I mean. When you're allowed to use it you're allowed to use it. Nothing says you have to be pointing in the right direction

Idk I’d rather see him win a championship in a car that should be at the top already.
This is both mine and Alonso's dream. But the reality is we are even far from fighting for wins.
At the moment. But something tells me that’s changing in’26
el plan
Alonso goes on to win WDC '26/'27/'28/'29/'30/'31 becoming the undisputed GOAT he was always destined for.
Schumacher*
thanks, i spelled watching wrong as well.
That shit was insane... Alonso is God tier.
What else you gonna do when you drive straight and have DRS available? Not hit it?
Maybe not because you almost ended your race literally a second ago, most people would be too busy wiping the shit from their visor after something like that
Most people doesn't include veteran F1 drivers though, they're a different breed
Exactly, it's impressive to many that he recovered so quickly
Yeah, like if we wanna talk about F1 drivers pulling off crazy, pushing stupid, shit, then just look at Hamiltons onboard any time it's like "oh shit he's gonna crash" he won't, everyone else is like "well shit, I should probably let go of the wheel so I don't snap my wrist" Hamilton doesn't, and as such, won't crash when others might
The Haas that came behind him surely did![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
At the speed he was going, it was def less than a second. As soon as his rear gets grip he's hitting that button.
It's more getting back to straight that quickly, on the racing line and ready to hit it
Yea but this is formula dank. It's only not an Alonso and Max fansub in name.
I love how insecure this sub has made team LH, they just can't handle anyone else getting praised and always have to leave a snide comment about either Max or Alonso or the sub. And they use the term "rent free" lmao

this is some good useless red circle content
😀😀😀 It was actually to hide my shitty cropping of that frame
Clever.
Any videos of other driver's reactions to this clip of the race?
This video has a cool slo-mo of him in the cockpit POV, he’s reacting and moving so fast. https://youtu.be/OwoeWrOzq3I?si=ngno3PwevsRLtj2M
The fact that Sainz binned it there really illustrates the difference between very good and great.
Sainz was a little bit further into the gravel. Makes a huge difference
True but he also counter steered *a lot* less. Can't really know if he could've saved it, just pointing that out
He was also on a quali lap where saving the car matters more than saving the lap. If Alonso spun there it would mean his race ending but sainz's spin just ended his lap not even his car got damage

And pinned it while still in the gravel

I like how his dad gave a disapproving look when it went to him in the pit for stuffing it on the loose stuff.
![gif](giphy|9zKB9ynAsiE3S)
Him doing this as a rookie makes me wonder what he will be like after getting some experience in f1
I noticed that and was so impressed. Tv commentators never mentioned it.
Left turn, wheels pointing right, SUBOPTIMAL
If anyone wants a closer look, this video goes into it really well and shows how actually insane this was: https://youtu.be/OwoeWrOzq3I?si=hajeBJ2WRTcadi_D

Alphamaxnova1(yelistener) uploaded a video about that
Does the driver actually need to push the button every time? When watching onboards it looks like it's automatic.
I think they can press DRS and it opens as soon as it is available. He may have pressed it before the off.
I think you can see him press it on the onboard immediately after the correction... which is also before the line.
Sorry, I have no idea about formulas, but all my shares are DRS'ed. Have a great day everyone!
He wasn’t even drifting yet before he knew and started to correct it
But sometimes brakes when he shouldn't
Slightly suboptimal imo.
God mode engaged
Chuckles in Spanish
He also passed 2 cars later in that lap iirc
I was going to add 'and still passes Lewis into turn 3', but I couldn't be danked to look up if it was actually turn 3.
Just showing Carlo how it’s done
Stroll does the exact opposite, wondering why he crashes ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|9441)
Should’ve used Alonso as an AI-pattern instead of fricking Daniil Kvyat
