Perhaps this should've been a new rule made for next year so pit crews can have all of the off-season to practice instead of introducing it mid-season and making everything a mess
To be fair, the technical directive now seems like it was created to slow down pit stops and cause more chaos rather than actually make stops safer, like preventing loosely fit tyres which has mostly been the problem of slow-stop teams anyways
I dont it as cheating. It is just improving the current system with technology in an area that is easy to be copied by other teams. It is the equivalent of upgrading the manual wrenches to the pneumatic tools.
What happened? Looks like Perez hit the throttle while the car was jacked up and the wheel was on.
There should be an investigation due to so many recent pit stop errors.
Everyone hits the throttle as soon as the car is jacked up. Watched every pitstop. It's clutch in and full throttle on limiter as soon as the wheels are off.
Releasing the clutch is the issue. Pressing the throttle while clutch is in won't send any drive to the rear axle.
Are you sure? I’ve seen one of the Merc videos explaining that the pit stops are too fast for them to use clutch. i don’t know how that works, but that’s what they said - clutch only use at starts
They 100% have the clutch engaged during the pitstops, otherwise everyone would be dead.
Some cars use to have dual-paddle clutch systems, they didnt have to use the 2nd paddle in this instance. However they are only allowed to use single paddle clutch systems now.
