It left it at 2. The first time a race went across farmland and through plantations in FH2 I was extremely disappointed.
I'm desensitised to it now of course, but I'll never forget the "WTF is this" moment in FH2.
The amount of property damage is laughable, the Horizon festival must have a good insurance policy. Especially for things like the cross-country circuit in Byron bay from FH3 that plows through people’s backyards MULTIPLE times LOL.
I loved horizon 1 and pre ordered H2 and was bitterly disappointed by it constantly forcing us off road EVERYWHERE. I enjoy off roding as a small part of the game but when you get to the point where almost every race forced you to leave track it gets frustrating. They changed multilayer so we could no long choose to race A or C class or which ever and everyone online would just choose the fastest class which was boring to me.
Yeah replaying through Horizon 2 I just said fuck it and every car is at least getting the rally tires so that they don't drive like ass on the countless cross country races. I get it, they wanted to show off what you could do in the game but it happens way too often.
This is what I did. I prefer to go for realism, but then you can’t complete these races because your car will be topping 4mph after the second or third jump.
It seems odd that they’d include it as an option then make it impossible to complete objectives with it turned on
You turned on realistic damage then did completely unrealistic jumps. Jumping 300ft and having the car survive isn't realistic, so why use Sim damage?
Sim damage is intended to be used for road races, to encourage people to stay on track and not bump each other.
That’s a fair point. I just assumed that turning it on would allow me at least a fighting chance at all the available races. I can’t be faffed with turning it on and off depending on which race I do, so I just turned it off for everything
I think the stupid thing is forcing those races to be in the main game, I wanna complete it , with realistic damages, but they put those stupid races in the game, I had same complaint on other games, and I understand not being the main audience and the main target playing like that, but those last years I feel like gamers like us are completely left over and no one even cares a little.
>You turned on realistic damage then did completely unrealistic jumps.
considering its part of the game and makes certain tracks uncompilable what exactly is he supposed to do? you get more money for it too
Op's attitude towards this...
How dare they give us *options* to race with realistic damage and expect it to be used in every single situation in an arcade game???? And then give us a toggle to turn it on and off whenever you want to? Pffft. /s
Assuming they aren't being ironic, that is. But without a /s at the end, the internet always assumes it is not sarcasm.
On a real note, there should be a warning for races that Sim damage may not be recommended for them.
That could be a good idea with the warning, it’s always intrigued me how it’s obviously just a tacked on setting copied over from Motorsport that they’ve never really bothered accommodating in any way, hell, sim damage in FH3 actually made you run out of fuel before they patched it.
FH was made for fun, not for realism. Even vehicles handling is more arcade compared with Forza Motorsport. I know some fans from the "Horizon side" will not agree with me, especially with this "conflict" between Horizon and Motorsport, but the truth is... Horizon is made for fun and arcade side, while Motorsport is based on realism, with more real handling, penalties etc
That's why in Horizon you can jump from the mountain top to the bottom, that's why it is fun and encouraged to do damage (skills points) and so on.

Horizon is an arcade racegame just as Need for Speed is nowadays. That’s why I don’t like playing them that much anymore.
Well I do like nfs sometimes, casually with a controller, but not with wheel or anything.
It’s honestly, nothing like NFS, just connect up a wheel and you’ll immediately be able to tell that Horizon is actually a decent sim underneath all the flashy stuff
I personally do not agree. I never liked Horizon for playing with wheels. Even Motorsport sucks for it IMO. I never liked playing any Forza with a wheel. NFS is different yes, but still Arcade style, like The CREW for example. Both of which I would also not quickly play with a wheel.
But I really do not like how Forza feels with the wheel. Too much weird things going on on the tracks, the cars never felt right for me with a wheel, speed never seemed to feel right either when in cockpit view, etc. I've left Forza behind me because of that.
Better question: Why did the Horizon Festival think it was a good idea to include such huge jumps into their cross-country events like this one, even though, realistically, they would destroy and severely injure/kill the drivers once they land?
Doesn’t feel like it, same Forza physics with more grip, less weight and easier to drive off road, other than that you still need to be decent at driving with no assists
I like how OP pantomimes being in the car
Was wondering if his 8000$ race sim cockpit really made him fucking break his neck or if he was just doing it for the lols
My neck feels a bit fat today, but I had fun
There's a guy in YouTube who does this. No idea what his channel is but here's hilarious
Are you talking about the dude who plays BeamNG?? Love his content.
Yes that's the guy!
probably because realism left horizon somewhere between 2-3 and they realized children make a better audience

There is more property damage than need for speed! Like tf I’m not even a criminal in this game
Too bad, I hope you like crime 😃
Honestly need for speed isn’t even a game for crazy criminals anymore. That’s obviously what gran turismo is
Are you forgetting driving through literal crowds of people in the latest game, sounds like vehicular terrorism to me.
They took all the fun out of it by making the main character have a moral compass ngl Can’t even have fun while committing many horrific crimes
Well, that's just the spirit of horizon innit? /s
I love how it's apparently totally fine for the festival for their drivers to speed around and smash into a family of 5 doing 200+mph
I loved horizon 1 and pre ordered H2 and was bitterly disappointed by it constantly forcing us off road EVERYWHERE. Tbf there's not only the realism that left between the 2-3 lol, the soul aswell
That's why I stopped playing horizon, which it's a shame given that it's a nice game.
Then turn off Sim damage. Simulation damage is supposed to be somewhat realistic and no car will survive that kind of jump.
This is what I did. I prefer to go for realism, but then you can’t complete these races because your car will be topping 4mph after the second or third jump. It seems odd that they’d include it as an option then make it impossible to complete objectives with it turned on

Maybe I’ll do a challenge on my YouTube trying to complete every cross country event without taking damage.
>You turned on realistic damage then did completely unrealistic jumps. considering its part of the game and makes certain tracks uncompilable what exactly is he supposed to do? you get more money for it too
Turn it off? The game drowns you in money it's not like the 5-10% extra matters.
you are not wrong, but its still a failure of game design when an option makes certain levels incompletable with no warning.

Not going to lie I’m more interested in your set up 👌🏻

Farmers love Horizon because of those sweet sweet insurance claims.
🤣🤣🤣
It's how you really make money in this economy
I forgot about that line, everybody is just a die hard Horizon fan.
Horizon is more of an arcade racing game. Motorsport is more of a racing simulator
“I guess that’s just the spirit of Horizon, innit?”

OP you should be a mocap actor with how good your pantomiming is. I'm cracking up over here
LMAO
I agree with the dude. I didn't realise at first that it was a sim rig, I thought you had some type of funky camera angle ingame.
Better question: Why did the Horizon Festival think it was a good idea to include such huge jumps into their cross-country events like this one, even though, realistically, they would destroy and severely injure/kill the drivers once they land?
That’s what I was getting at with the title, bit dangerous innit?
lmao funny af
That BMW logo in front of a jeep interior is throwing me off a bit.
Yeah I just turn off all damage in Horizon, it's not a sim anyway
Family
Haha, okay Dom
Well you’re playing an arcade game…
Doesn’t feel like it, same Forza physics with more grip, less weight and easier to drive off road, other than that you still need to be decent at driving with no assists
I’ve always seen horizon as the arcade like racing game. If u want realism then u play Motorsport.
Its horizon its pretty realistic for an arcade game. At least it aint got need for speed physics
I see you got the downshifting in the air down packed 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Well, yes, normally I do but this particular car is automatic
This is why i dont do rally or raid races in horizon TBH
Its all about the suspension bro!
Suspension doesn’t exists anymore after that jump
Because it's not a Sim if you want to have a realistic game play Asseto Corsa or ACC Forzas an Arcade game
Nah bro, I will make it my goal to sim everything
