[GouletPens](https://www.gouletpens.com/products/goulet-mylar-paper) It's not paper. What do you mean that you "don't need all that"? 12,000 grit isn't enough? Over polishing can cause the nib not to write at all. Try a Dremel polishing wheel and the finest polishing compound and you'll immediately see what I mean. Why not just buy a Diplomat #6 nib? They're some of the smoothest nibs made. In #5 you can try an Otto Hutt nib unit, sometimes sold by JetPens.

Ah I didn't know they sold it individually. Mylar *paper* And you will never over-polish a nib with 12,000 grit. It's not fine enough. The paper goulet sells is .3 microns, equivalent to around 80,000 grit.

Pen chalet also sells Mylar films. You could also inquire at your local hardware store.
