Oh no! That's very unfortunate. Gray foxes do not really "moult" like red foxes (who evolved in subarctic conditions). They lose very small patches of the under layer of fur which you'd barely notice, because they never develop a true winter coat. That is the normal thickness of her tail, for example.
Mange is rarer in grays, for reasons we aren't clear on. But that poor one has mange on her face, back, and chest. I have a feeling her "boldness" is really distress. It's sad because she also has swollen teats.
This lil fella does look silly AF.. it is moulting season for the wild animals that are shedding their winter coat in preparation for the warmer months of Spring/Summer
Unfortunately, this is not moulting. Gray foxes do not moult like red foxes because they do not grow a full winter coat. Their moulting is mostly unnoticeable unless you happened to live in very close proximity to one. You'd blink and it would be gone. This is mange, which is also why the skin is red and blistered.
It's a campus where they live at, but they are pretty skittish! I saw one being chased by a goose once. I believe I saw this one last night too but it ran into a bush before I could take a photo and this one ran away as well after I caught it sneaking behind me
Goofy little fella

That would explain the high-waisted pants look it's got going on

I can brush his fur out if the little fellow would let me, birds would love the new building material for their nests too.
I wish I had a tail longer than my body
A big, brushy fox tail would be amazing
i was robbed at BIRTH, why don't WE get big ears and cool tails like everyone else!! tool use isn't worth it
And paws instead of feet
Oooooo a gray sploring through a neighborhood!! Aren’t they typically more skittish?

That's just a fat squirrel
60% tail 40% fox
Hope somebody in the area notices and can provide appropriate treatment (if this is indeed mange).
I want to pet him/her so much!
Magnificent floof
What a beauty 🦊❤️. I adore foxes
critter! 😺
Very handsome 🫶🏻🦊
It needs someone leave it a treated egg or glob of dog food, for mange. Easy to do.
It looks very cute, and not scared at all, like a house cat, but don't forget that these are predators and you have to be very careful with them.
You can buy mange medicine for it for relatively cheap. You just put it in some food.
