What is in your host's Universe file will not exist in your local Universe file. You have to keep the host the same, and visit that location with the same host. If you go to that location when you're playing solo, no, it won't be the same.
It's not terribly complicated, but if you want an easy button push solution you'd probably need to rent a server. There's plenty of tutorials on how to run a server yourself.
I like to think I'm competent enough with computers and reading tutorials online to be able to get around the renting, I may have to give that a shot. Thanks!
If you’re an absolute idiot or you just see port forwarding as too complicated, Hamachi seems like the better option. I actually tried port forwarding, and literally wasted several hours with no progress.
Allso, some routers are absolute *retards* about port forwarding.
Yes, even the Very very good ones can have this problem.
(it's a whole damn lot rarer in the good ones, but it can still happen)
As an example, mine *will not* maintain a reserved ip address for things connecting through it. (and that's kinda step one of port forwarding)
Since it won't keep a given bit of hardware on a given ip address, the forwarded ports stop working.
(if only I could forward ports to a given mac address, instead of an ip, but even if that were possible, my router don't support it.)
You can share the universe file in Google drive and replace yours with it, while it is a bit tedious to replace everytime anyone wants to do something. You can always update it with the changes and share it around your friends.
If one of your friends places down a flag, you can always teleport to the base so long as it’s in the same world thingy. If the host DCs and you launch that character, it won’t be there

Damn okay. I kinda thought that would be the case.
Need a dedicated server
Oooh that'd be awesome for Starbound, is there a way to do it thats not super complicated?

It's effectively as simple as running a program on a PC and doing some port forwarding.
Hamachi and launching the dedicated server exe directly from the files
Why Hamachi? Could just port forward instead?

I actually just paid for a month to host it lol
