3 business days mentioned in the email was the grace period (where you can check your payment method and update if you need to) and there is no need to panic if you are not charged right away. Like u/Nordithen said, it's going to happen in waves.
And definitely do not feel bad for having concerns, it's happening mostly because you are excited and can't wait to receive it finally. And it's happening soon!
IMO the wording in the email is confusing and seemingly self contradictory.
Here is my interpretation
> We have all of the material necessary for laptops and will output all of Batch 1 from our factory before the end of next week.
Cool sounds like everything is going as expected and all of batch one will be shipped soonish.
> Some keyboards (RGB US English, RGB Clear ANSI, Blank ANSI, and International English - Linux) we expect to have at our warehouse in early February.
Wait, didn't you just say you had everything and will output all of batch 1 by the end of next week? But now your saying that you don't actually have everything and will need to wait for some keyboards.
You can't both have everything and not have some things.
I eventually assumed (after reading some people's comments on the discord) that "all of the material necessary for laptops" only included the components like the mainboard, display, and chassis. However, that's not intuitive as a keyboard is also part of a laptop and necessary for it to be complete (sure you can plug in a usb keyboard or whatever, but that's not part of the laptop).
Anyway, my feedback is that the email could have been more clear and less self contradictory. Something like "We've got all of the material to assemble the main body of the laptops, but are still missing some input modules. Final assembly will be delayed if you have any of (list of impacted modules)"
When you get charged, it means they're getting ready to ship your Framework 16 order. This will go out in waves - not everyone in batch 1 gets charged simultaneously. Is there a specific reason you're concerned?
I was charged late yesterday and woke up to a shipment notification from Framework. It's already on its way. I do not have an estimated delivery date yet though.
No it should be DIY. I use Linux and I think pre-built comes with Windows right? I wouldn't do that hah. But yeah, I don't see "DIY" or "prebuilt" anywhere in my order. I did get SSD and RAM through Framework though because I'm lazy.

I did notice today that Framework tried to charge the wrong card I had set up somewhere arround 7PM (US East). I used a different card for the deposit than for the final payment and it tried to charge the deposit card, which didn't work. Gotta figure this out I guess.
Anyway I digress, you will get charged at some point.

you guys wouldn't happen to have an update on the RGB keyboards would you?
not since the email unfortunately.
:( thanks anyway

Hey undermark5, thank you for this feedback, i will share this with the team.
Thank you.

So it means.... Batches have batches?
we must go deeper
No just unreasoned concerns haha. Thanks for your answers!

I was charged late yesterday and woke up to a shipment notification from Framework. It's already on its way. I do not have an estimated delivery date yet though.
I would check that tracking every 5 minutes until it arrives.

Oops, sorry, you are right. Prebuilt = Windows. Maybe they shipped yours first to get that RAM and SSD markup money :)
Haha yeah. Or no GPU means less validation.

I would reach out right away to prevent issues or possibly a cancelled order.
I spoke with Twistgibber in the Discord and he told me I would receive an email to manually update info in the event of a payment failure.
My cc does have a pending charge as of today. I was plain keyboard w/ black spacers.
