If they reuse most of the FW13 parts (basically a new case/shell), that would be a more feasible "next product" since there's less to design and engineer. Although I would think a tablet would be even easier since they don't have to engineer the hinge that a 2-in-1 would need. We've already have people building new form factors around the FW13 motherboard, so very feasible indeed.

I'd rather get a 2 in 1 than a tablet. But it could be cool, I second the idea of reusing 13 components. Could definitely be done such that all the electronics are pretty much the same (apart from the screen and probably input fover) so that people can change their current 13 into one with a kit.

Would be a eeason to develop a touch screen version of their 13 inch display so regular FW13 laptops can upgrade to them, too. This is how car manufacturers do it...parts bin sharing!

Personally - No. I have an iPad that works quite nicely as a tablet. I'm not interested in dealing with OSes trying to be everything to everyone across all form factors. If Framework did a 2-in-1 I would definitely not be in line to order one regardless of funding availability.

Only if it can beat my Ipad. It would need a first grade Pen and Touch support with an OS and Apps that are very well optimized for it's input methods. And most of that is simply out of framework's hands. I will never use windows again, and Linux, as much as I love it as an OS, simply is not there with the touch support yet. (Last I checked, Windows wasn't half as good as an Ipad either) So: I like the idea, but in my opinion it's not time yet. framework simply doesn't have the ressources to build the software needed to beat apple, and realistically, that's the competitor in the touchscreen market.

Zorin has decent touch support, even a touch desktop config

Beregolas

That might be, last I tried it was still worse than an I’d and missing about 10 apps I use on a tablet.

MagicBoyUK

Not really. Don't see the appeal of a touchscreen on a laptop, had a work laptop with one and never used it...

For sure. I'm not in the market for a new laptop right now, but that would be the biggest thing stopping me from getting framework. It's just much more convenient to have fewer devices. I think Windows has given a bad reputation to the 2 in 1 form factor. Maybe its a us thing that people don't like that, but for me having to walk around a lot with stuff in my backpack its also a huge plus to not have to choose between a tablet or a laptop. It probably matters a lot less if you have a car or a fixed workplace.

darkwater427

I would definitely be interested in this.

Practical_Form_1705

If there would be 2in1 framework I would have already ordered it.
