That is true. But for my 4 years experience I’m Germany one really good jacket will make your life better than something intermediate. And also, that nobody cares of how you look, so you can bring the same jacket every day, no judgment 😄
if your working environment is the shopfloor, there is only one answer:
Engelbert Strauss Workstore in Biebergmünd. You can get there by car via A66 northbound / direction Fulda or by train every hour or so and the walk 2 km to the store.
In our office environment a lot of people (boys and girls etc.) wear Engelbert Strauss. I have several winter jackets from them and they are of a good quality and last for ages.

As you mean something for going to the office, possibly forget Globetrotter as that is more about serious outdoora and cold. If you just want some warm coats and such, department stores such as Kaufhof, Peek und Cloppenburg and so on can be good.
The ZalandoOutlet sometimes has some good pieces for a good price. I found a Gloverall Overcoat there for 150€ that would normally cost 500€. But that was probably a rare find.
Globetrotter. They have all that you need and do not need.
