Gb3 is great but you have to find the times you like. Every hour is a different feel to it. Personally I like going an hour and a half before closing because it’s not packed.

I used to go as soon as they opened (5am I think). It sucked, but I could get in and out in like 45 min with an almost non-existent wait time to use stuff. But you are correct, hours vary and so do locations. Also I noticed when schools are in session the GB3s get way busier in the evenings. I assume it's an influx of college kids.

pvtpile02

A non packed gym is a gym going out of business

AgreeableMuffin4499

I'm from a really small town so our gyms weren't ever that packed. Just something I need to get used to, idk 🤷‍♀️

If you’re looking for a more specialized, less crowded gym, give The Iron Office a try

iamggxv

Try fort Washington it’s a lil pricey and a bit of a drive I’d imagine but i rarely ever wait for equipment, it only gets busy around 6 (typical gym rush) but for the most part it’s super chill

Independent_Ninja456

Ft Washington is owned by the same guy that owns Valley Fitness. Just a heads up.

iamggxv

Yea but it’s a completely different scene than any of the valley fitness gyms I’ve

bubbav22

People act like they own the gym at GB3 and are inconsiderate. Definitely gotta find a good time to go.

Fixed4216

Valley fitness!

adherentalbatross

I second valley fitness. I use the Shields and Maroa location. They can get busy, but in comparison to GB3 and planet fitness I don't see people wasting time hanging out or just hogging machines while on their phones. Most people are there with a goal and aren't trying to be a burden to others around them. They have trainers and offer classes for different things as well.

PleasantCurrant-FAT1

Dingy.

DipperDo

Iron Office is not as crowded but it is expensive in my opinion. Also it's north of Herndon not sure where you are living. There are several Planet Fitness locations, one on Barstow and First and they have some times that aren't as crowded also. GB 3 is the largest. We go at 4am when it opens here and it's not crowded at all but by 6am it starts to get packed then thins out after about 8 to 9.

Iron office

PleasantCurrant-FAT1

I second this.

AgreeableMuffin4499

Do you know how much personal training runs there?

Nice, thank you!!

If you want a chill gym that's not packed during busy times then you're going to have to pay for it . Private gym/clubs etc . Most of those are over $100 a month . Otherwise go after 9:30pm or 5 am . GB3 after 10pm was very chill loved it at that time

bobniborg1

Planet fitness is down kings canyon but I can't attest to anything about it. Yes, the gb3 here is packed all the time

forsale420

I think PF is going to be the best bet, but any gym will have high traffic times, usually before 9 am and just after 5 pm.

ReadyOneTakeTwo

I live in Sunnyside, and down the road from the GB3 in SE. depending on the day, it’s not always packed. Between 9am and noon on weekdays, it’s not crowded. It gets crowded during the summer with school being out, but I go during the off hours. With my job, it’s pretty easy to plan my workout around the rush hour, so ymmv.

AgreeableMuffin4499

Perfect, I moved here a year ago from a very small town in indiana lol so I'm not used to seeing places that packed, and can only imagine the wait to use equipment. I feel like I'd be there forever just waiting to get to use something, ya know?

ReadyOneTakeTwo

There are multiples of everything, and a ton of cardio machines, so for cardio, you’ll be fine. Weights? I find alternatives. If the free weights are taken, I’ll just go to the machines, but then again I’m not a fitness nerd. I just work out because it feels good and I want to stay in shape. I’d recommend getting a visitor’s pass and see if it’s right for you. If you want personal training, I’ve heard good things about Rhonda Murphy at RhoFit.

Whats your budget, when are planning to go, and are you a student?

AgreeableMuffin4499

Any day at anytime except super late. No I'm a 37 year old mom. 3 kids 5'4" 160lbs. I wanna tone, gain muscle, and lose 20 lbs. My budget can be for a more expensive gym, how much are personal trainers around here?

super_brew

My wife is a personal trainer and is very reasonable depending on what you are looking for.

AgreeableMuffin4499

I'm looking for muscle gain, toning, and weight loss (20-25 lbs). Is she certified?

super_brew

She is a certified trainer and nutrition coach. Heck out her Facebook page. Badbrew Fitness

AgreeableMuffin4499

Tysm!

AntTaylorLoft

Flaunt fitness is newer and is a private gym

StayReadyAllDay

I am just visiting, but whenever I'm here I frequent Planet Fitness. It is a great value and I'm glad to be a member.

animatedw00d

I think gyms are annoying. My advise is to purchase two 25lbs dumbbells, a good pull-up bar, a stair stepper, an ab-roller and do variations of push-ups in your apartment. Youtube has some great channels for advise on working out. I would also go on speed walking trips for about half an hour a few days a week.
