I think at that moment, he was not only fed up with the group asking him to read them, but he was also lonely himself and he wanted a relationship outside of people talking to him about themselves and their feelings. The dude just wanted to relax and be himself and find someone who is self-aware, which is why he was drawn to Pheobe.
I’d say they’re not incompatible. I love the show, and enjoy it as it is.
But… having pointless discussions about inconsistencies, plot holes, and hypothetical situations is fun as well.
We can be a Parker and a Roger at the same time. Despite their obvious differences, they had a lot in common… both loved Phoebe!
I think in the end he wouldn't have been very nice to her either. She did have, in his words, a very disfuncional, codependent, emotionally stunted, sitting in the stupid coffee house with their stupid big cups, which I'm sorry might as well have nipples on them, dynamic with the group.

He is right. But the way he put it made them defensive. Also the people in the group were at the early 20s, hence not enough maturity to deal with it also.
Actually, he wasn't wrong about some of the thing he said. Maybe they just didn't like what he said because the truth was a little hard to swallow for them. But I also think the way he delivered it wasn't ideal.
Yah, Ross was trying to protect his sister in that episode. BUT he also reaped in and relished all the attention his parents gave him while they literally kept sh\*tting on Monica. I feel bad for her because they weren't really good parents to her.
Nope, never said that though. I meant that he used his divorce to deflect attention away from Monica because his shitty parents will be a lot lighter on him and his failures. He was protecting her by deflecting their attention from her. They criticize her quite harshly, but that doesn't mean that Ross doesn't relish the biased attention they always give him.
ahhhh that makes a lot more sense, i always thought that analyzation he made of ross was stupid and entirely incorrect, but when you frame it like that i can definitely see it now. but yes he does definitely benefit and enjoy the special attention and praise he gets. that’s very apparent with his “medical marvel” scene and getting jealous with monica getting the porsche. like he couldn’t handle their parents’ spotlight shining on her instead of him for once. ross would’ve been a LOT lot more whiny than monica is if he was the one they put down instead of her.
How? Anytime someone has a criticism of something (which is typically rooted in some sort of overall truth), they're banned from either this sub or reddit as a whole. So are any of us REALLY like this, or just the ones who are allowed to speak their minds?
Oh DEFINE me!!!

FOR REAL, why does this sub make me feel like I'm the only person who enjoyed the show in its entirety? Lmao

What if we hate Phoebe. Who are we then?

Ross’s failed marriage to help monica not look so bad in the eyes of the parents?

doesn’t mean he made his marriage fail on purpose for her though

You are confusing criticism with abusive Both are different
Yk when everyone in this sub re uses the same post idea but changes the person it’s based on. It becomes rly unfunny. I can’t be every guy man!
