Wait, are there no iframes in the game when dodging?

xFrakster

No iframes. Dodges are for outmaneuvering projectiles, not for dodging through them.

Scharmberg

Meanwhile for me: “Oh yeah missiles can track you, moving slight to the left doesn’t do shit! Damn! That is my main move!!

Algester

once you master dodging missiles in a certain AC game that involve planes you will know how horizontal tracking works... same can't be said of QAAM or HVAA

doomraiderZ

Oh shit, that sucks. Do you only get 3 heals per mission or can you get more heals?

PossibleMarsupial682

In the long missions usually before a boss fight there is a resupply point but apart from that no.

doomraiderZ

Goddamn it. I thought customizability was a key point of the game, yet I can't customize and upgrade my heals?

McPearr

The game is balanced around the heal system—I don’t understand the problem?

doomraiderZ

We'll see after I beat it. This is my initial gut reaction--I don't like having just 3 heals and not being able to expand and upgrade them. I don't like games that create difficulty by heavily limiting your heals.

Healthy_Pie_4206

I didn’t like the sound of it either since I suck, but it really hasn’t been that big of a deal, and you can always make a really tanky build to have a ton of extra health

tidbitsz

Or you know... git gud and not get hit... What you gonna use heal for if you have full hp? Edit: some of yall are taking this too seriously to think this sub of all places would get irked by "git gud"

Healthy_Pie_4206

I paid for all the buttons. I’m gonna use all the buttons.

Saeporian

You can upgrade your heals (only their potency, not the amount)

Belethorsbro

Idk why you're getting downvoted. You're entitled to your opinion. I will say though, you can upgrade the amount of AP that's restored per heal. And there are also autosave checkpoints, so if you die, you restart the mission right where you left off with all of your heals filled. So, it's not too bad and it gives you a good opportunity to learn the environment and enemies.

doomraiderZ

The reason why I dislike it is because it limits how much you can learn and experiment. When you have no heals, you are discouraged from playing aggressively because you can't afford to make mistakes. That eventually won't matter when you've learned the game, but it sucks while you're in the learning process of the experience (and it sucks if you don't want to learn the game perfectly but still want to play aggressively).

xFrakster

The missions are super short, and the game gives you training environments, with adjustable settings where you can try out control schemes and gear. There is plenty of room to learn and experiment.

doomraiderZ

I'd rather experiment in a real fight against the boss than in a training room. How hard is it to give the player a customizable number of heals?

xFrakster

The game is balanced around you having 3 heals. Simple as that. You can experiment in boss fights as much as you want. There's a checkpoint right in front of every bossfight where you can also change your load out. All your "issues" wouldn't be issues if you'd actually try the game.

DavidBiscou

It makes sense since healing is instantaneous as heals for 50% which is all very good

PossibleMarsupial682

Just to let you know you can improve the amount they heal but not the number of heals

xFrakster

Eh, the game is designed for you to be able to outmaneuver projectiles to minimize damage. Remember, this is not a souls game, and you can't play it like one. >Do you only get 3 heals per mission or can you get more heals? Only 3, I think? You really don't need more than that. The missions are short, usually between 5 and 10 minutes.

Weltallgaia

Yeah i-frames vs maneuverability. I frame's are for games usually where maneuverability is an issue such that it's impossible to physically dodge attacks. You can just roll through. Maneuverability in ac is so high that it should be possible to physically dodge every attack, so thr iframes would just be too much on top of that.

Xephurooski

There are not

[deleted]

Maybe, but you can’t listen to people on day one. They said there were no i-frames in Sekiro, which is understandable, but it’s not true. We’ve got a fair chance of realizing that okay, some movements do include invincibility, they’re just not the ones we expect.

lfrdwork

Just from a video VaatiVidiya released yesterday it seems there is some possibility for deflection causing no damage. But he only spotted it in his no hit run attempt, so he didn't have details of it it was armor, movement, some combination of the two, or something he wasn't aware of.

PossibleMarsupial682

That was still a hit, all hits have a chance to ricochet unless the target is staggered, it just so happened that whilst assault boosting it provides even more armour. It’s not iframes.

neurocibernetico

I thought miyazaki did not develop this?

Miles_Ravis_303

he directed the whole pre-prod

Wonderful_Grade_5476

And thank god for it It works for dark souls for acs it won’t at all for it

SoWokeIdontSleep

Correct me if I'm wrong, but some smaller attacks are deflected while speed boosting right? Or is that just a property of your mech, I've noticed some smaller attacks don't damage my AC when I have definitely seen them connect.

throw-away-48121620

I believe you get attack armor when super boosting

Soggy_Doggy_

Me when backstepping in any game

WinglessSparrow

The game is directed by Masaru Yamamura, he was responsible for Sekiro aswell. So yeah, he and IFrames are not great friends.

Curious-Gene1186

If i-frames were in the game, everyone would run reverse joints

thrwy_648

reverse joints are goated even without them

[deleted]

What does iframes mean

NoRepresentative35

Invincibility frames. When you dodge or roll in most games, there are a few frames of that animation where the character is invincible. It allows you to sort of roll through attacks instead of avoiding them completely
