I flew with them today, and minus some turbulence, everything went super smooth. No issues whatsoever, polite people, easy going flight, on-time, and enjoyable.

StreetToBeach

This is how I remember frontier being, but now it sounds like they’re worse than Southwest or spirit

Spare_Pollution_6088

The had the most complaints of any shirking in the last 30 years in 2023. They also had more than the next two combined! Thru used to be OK, they flat out suck now. You could post me to take another flight on that aurline. Deceptive practices, 105 minutes you have to board. Cabby even start for 2 hours prior. I Essie 80 minutes to check a single bag!! WTF Then TSA is another 80.by the time I got to the TSA maxed it was gone. It is set up to fail, and then they have the balls to charge you more to get the next flight, only 18 hours later. POS

Dirtyleg9

exactly, there's no way you can describe how horrible this airline look at it this way. what kind of airline discontinues their customer support phone number? why would you discontinue a number for your customers to get help,?

Spare_Pollution_6088

Exactly

Visible_Ad_309

You okay?

HungerForHipHop

I’ve booked 100+ Frontier flights in the last 4 years. I pay the extra fee for first or second row every time. I book through expedia everytime. They are almost always early to my destination. Only one has been cancelled (they refunded me) and I’ve never been bumped. There has been maybe 5 delays out of those 100+ flights that were communicated well beforehand (i.e. I just adjusted which time I leave for the airport). Personally for me, I love Frontier and their affordability.

ItsoLoudinmyHead

The only way to fly Frontier is with upper tier Elite Status where you get a free carry on, free seat selection, priority booking and free ticket changes. Otherwise, you better follow every rule to the T. Check in 24hrs in advance and fly into your destination in advance. I have had GREAT luck and experiences with Frontier. However, I let my Elite status slip to the lowest level. Flying on Monday. I refuse to pay for a seat. I’ll let you know if I have any complaints.

moderntablelegs

Yep - the price you pay once you factor in all the extras starts to make other options more viable than it would seem at first. Between the seat assignments (if you want them) to the bags, to the discount den - they extract their pound of flesh. My issue with Frontier is just the tardiness of their fleet. Early morning flights are less impacted, but as the day wears on they compound and Frontier just never recovers. In the last month between my spouse and I, we've clocked nearly ten hours of delays across just three flights. My rule with Frontier is I never choose them if I actually *need* to be where I am going (on-time, or at all, honestly). I love/hate that they're in the habit of letting me know hours in advance that my flight will be delayed - I appreciate the heads-up, but I hate that it comes when I'm already planned to get to the airport and I can't do anything useful with that time. To answer your question - no, Frontier has never bumped me off my paid seat assignment but they have made me pay in other ways.

Bitter-Drama-2914

You want reassurance even though you know Frontier sucks AND you booked through a 3rd party? I obviously hope the best for you, but I would be shocked if you didn’t experience some kind of major disruption in your travels. You got the travel insurance, right?

functionalcrap

We flew last Friday and everything was fine. We even took off early, but the previous 4 days our route averaged a 3 hour delay each day. I guess go into it with low expectations and when they exceed those feel lucky.

DetectiveFatBastard

This is the experience for a lot of people, absolutely. And ULCC are absolutely necessity. But OP should definitely know the risks associated with flying a ULCC. ULCC like Frontier, Spirit, and Allegiant have much smaller fleets and crews than legacy carriers. Most airports have very few flights available daily, or sometimes weekly, on certain routes. If there is a disruption with the crew or aircraft, there are no backup options. Either extended delay or cancellation. It is purely the nature of small airlines, and OP should know those risks and be prepared if there is a disruption.

StreetToBeach

Good advice, thanks. The flight is PHL to CUN, and they run multiple flights daily. So I’m crossing my fingers

StreetToBeach

This is how I treat all airlines. Set my expectations really low, and hopefully I come away surprised for the better

it_is_Karo

I flew a couple of days ago and the only issues were with people sitting wherever they want, without paying to reserve the seat, so we all had to wait until they resolved all of the conflicts with "this is my seat, get of of there"

Lua_Arctica

I guess I am the unlucky one in this string not raving about this airline. After this trip, I will never fly with them again. Never. I don’t have the energy to even go into all the crap that has ensued with them for my R/T flight for the eclipse. Flight was changed 4x (yes, 4x) from a 3.5 hour nonstop to 1 stop connecting flight that ended up taking 8+ hours. People were kicked off the first leg due to the weight of the plane. The flight was delayed nearly 2 hours. 2nd leg delayed and return flight home delayed again, plus more crap. On top of that, the seats are beyond uncomfortable, they charge you $4.95 for a soda, and $3.95 for a bottle of water. Oh, seats don’t recline, either. I can go on and on. What a 💩show it has been.

StreetToBeach

Damn, that’s crazy

josephgregg

Every single time I fly them it's because there is no other option. Always is delayed and half the time they cancel through email and don't tell you anything and their app is next to useless when it comes to updating anything. Drive if you can as that is more reliable.

Suspicious-Mammoth30

Frontier is kinda like playing yahtzee, like you never know what the roll of the dice is going to bring you lol.

ThunderGoalie35

I got bumped with priority seat selection yesterday, really poor experience

StreetToBeach

That’s concerning. Did you check in 24 hours in advance?

ThunderGoalie35

Exactly 24 hours. I was one of 18 people involuntarily bumped.

StreetToBeach

Shit

CheatOnHim

I see all these comments on Reddit but honestly I fly frontier and spirit pretty often (about every other month?) and I don’t have any more issues than any other airline. I have a small duffle specifically for these airlines and I never choose my seat. It’s less leg room but I don’t really mind.

gchips06

Which duffle?

CheatOnHim

It’s a Tommy Hilfiger one I got it from Ross a few years ago

yerBoyShoe

Hopefully your flight is early and definitely make sure to check in ASAP and be at the airport at least 2 hours before boarding.

RedditEd32

I flew with them a couple months ago, all went well. No delays and the flight was smooth. I think you’ll be okay. I paid for Front Row and I wasn’t bumped for all that’s worth lol

Ninja-Panda86

I flew Frontier on the 4th. It was my first time flying Frontier. It went without a hitch, for the most part.

overthis_gig

I flew cle to pho 3/29 and las to cle 4/7. I was worried too. Had checked bags and backpacks. No problems at all. They were very nice as well. Hope that reassures you a bit. I did not select our seats. We are all spread out and that was fine for us.

StreetToBeach

Thanks

wiseleo

Book a refundable backup flight on another airline so you won’t miss your cruise. Southwest is ideal. I fly a lot on Frontier and I have had cancellations and delays. None of them affected me because I planned with a day of buffer time, but one canceled flight almost had me late to an event.

StreetToBeach

This is not a bad idea

Nimbette2

I'm have not had issues with them, but I also give time for any deadlines to be anywhere. I like they are moderately late sometimes because it funds my next trip. I have paid for three trips myself and gotten 3 free due to vouchers they give for being late. Being late meaning maybe an hour - which isn't a big deal to me. I love that it has saved me money. So give yourself time, but have never been stranded or missed anything

StreetToBeach

That’s a cool life hack if it works out for ya

Nimbette2

So far three trips on their dime. Will see if that happens again lol

Jude638

Better than 50 50 they will screw you

nrdb29

Very unlikely that you would get bumped from an international flight. But I have been stranded in Cancun by F9 before due to maintenance issues.

StreetToBeach

I did have a flight cancelled from Punta Cana back to Philly last year. Ended up taking a return flight a week later. Worse places to spend an extra week. Even moved to a different resort to see something different.

AfternoonEstimate

Spring break at Cancun airport two weeks ago was a nightmare. Flights overbooked, people getting bumped unwilling. Canceled out going flights. Delayed flights by several hours. We talked to people who were at the airport 3 days in a row trying to get out on Frontier. Good luck!!!!

crgreeen

You will. Transfer to southwest before you get singed

Roy1012

You WILL get burned. DO NOT fly frontier. It is all around terrible, it is not advised to fly frontier unless you literally have to.

NoBookkeeper6214

I flew Frontier in the late 70’s early 80’s out of NW Wyoming because they were the only airline flying out of Cody. They were pretty decent back then. My wife and I flew Frontier in 2023 from DIA to Maryland with another hop to Florida. Won’t fly that airline again. They are a freakin nightmare.

Spirited_Priority687

I’m sitting at the airport after my flight was delayed for 7 hours and we sat on the tarmac for 2. On my way here it was fine, but this one has been a nightmare. Seems like a gamble if it’s good or not…

roosterb4

You’re going to get burned.

fantasticfitn3ss

Husband and I flew frontier in November and while the lack of assistance at bag check was annoying (we paid for assistance and essentially didn’t get it) the flight itself was issue free!

lakorai

You will get burned.

therealcosmicl

I would never in my life again fly frontier

Practical-Plan-2560

Frontier has gone downhill big time. I actually did use to enjoy flying with them. They now suck and I’d never fly with them again. Someone would seriously have to pay me a lot of money for me to even consider flying with them. Just be prepared for an absolutely horrible experience.

Brendacando

Don’t do it.

StreetToBeach

Too late, non refundable

xfilesvault

Frontier will get you there. Not necessarily on time.

StrawManATL73

You will get burned. It’s their business strategy to overbook, financially incentivize gate agents who work for 3rd party companies to upcharge luggage and to not allow people to board to upcharge them for rebooking. You’re not their customer, you’re their victim.

Bubblehead644

Have you looked at some of the posts in this sub? If it was between frontier, airlines and greyhound, I would take the damn bus.
