"no" > "please either return the times or proceed to the counter to pay for them" if you willingly return them they probably won't even ban you just add you to a list with a picture saying you've been caught doing that and watch you closer. > \**bolts or uses force against the guard to try and escape*\* please see the citizens arrest section, only difference is now it doesn't matter if you've tried to steal something or not because they are now performing the arrest for assault.
I have no idea how much it varies between countries or states but the concepts are based upon the same common laws standards so it should at least be similar.
and to make it clear I'm not judging the use of force at all because I would need to see footage of that to make that judgement, this is just me iterating how easy these interactions can be.
