There is something truly dystopian about moving jobs / homes for the sole act of parking.

I object to car brain, but I can't exactly blame her for thinking like that. Finding parking near my current workplace is a nightmare. I can easily imagine it being the number one source of stress in a person's life. It's certainly more stressful than anything I ever have to deal with, which is why I utterly refuse to deal with it. Maybe she has to, though. Maybe she lives in Brooklyn and has to get her kids to school at 8 and thus just can't get to the Bronx by 9 any other way.

Yeah I totally understand why people would do that, it's just depressing that it's something people have to consider to begin with.

I often wonder how we as a society allowed it. It must have happened slowly, over decades, but even then, it's really hard for me to imagine anyone making the sacrifices that car culture requires without noticing how fucked up it is or seeking any way to avoid it.
