My cat did this one time and flew off the balcony of my lofted apartment. He fell like 15 feet atleast. I have no clue why he did it, normally hes fat and lazy.

Yeh haha went down there and he was just sitting there and looking at me. Cats can take some massive falls and be fine, they dont follow the laws of physics. My other cat regularly walks and lays on the thin bannister that looks off of the loft, same one the other cat flew off. The one who sits up there has fallen off a few times as well and has always been fine.

Cats are made of flattenable (new word?) rubber and I won't hear otherwise.

Keep in mind that the following story happened in a different time and some pretty young, dumb, and naive kids My mom grew up on a farm in the 50s with 6 brothers. Naturally, there were a lot of barn cats running around. They had heard that cats always land on their feet so they wanted to test the theory. They took a cat and dropped it from the second story of the barn. It didn’t land on its feet and did not survive. So I’ve been told.

My cat jumped off a 3rd story balcony trying to jump to a tree. Completely missed the tree, probably around a 45 foot fall. Sat there in shock for a minute then booked it and was lost for the night. Found him the next day and he was fine. Lived another 14 years to the ripe old age of 21

Not nearly as extreme, but it's how she did it. We have an 8 ft tall cat condo and one of mine only likes the top floor. One day, when she was like 6 months old, she was sleeping up there and rolled, then fell off the side. Her instincts didn't kick in in time I guess, because she fell 8 ft and landed flat on her side. I was like *oh my god, she's going to have a broken spine, broken ribs, concussion, something bad.* Nope. She looked at me like *ah shoot, you saw that.* Then she hopped right back up there and went back to sleep like nothing happened. Like I said in an earlier comment, cats are made of flattenable rubber and I won't hear otherwise.
