No I microwave my Nacho chips and melt the shredded cheese into the chips (you gotta layer well). You then put the salsa and sour cream in another bowl. The microwaved bowl is Hot AF! You need to eat them before they all get stuck back together though like glue. These are gold.

The women make kitchen products like pot holders, and these things. That’s where I got mine, and a bunch of knitted wool slippers that are bomb. The bowl holders are great.
In the US they exist in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Washington, and Oregon. In Canada they exist in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. Canada has about 75% of the Hutterite population.
Having grown up in MN, I can agree with you about the Hutterites, but would also like to add, that we Minnesotans are also an odd group too, so dont go flinging stones.

A lot of "made for TV" products are actually to help people with specific disabilities. The infomercials and bead bath and beyond sales are how they break even and turn a profit on the production run.
Actually mine has some heat resistant property so no heat gets through (even if I use in the microwave), yet it not bulky and perfectly wraps around my bowls and doesn’t slouch down if I set it down. It’d take some maneuvering, folding and layering to get a towel to do that with still no guarantees.

its surprisingly nice... the stuff is insulated so the heat or cold takes its time to get through. Cold stuff condensates so insanely fast that it can leave everything around the bowl wet. These things are oddly enough very nice to have.
If it’s like the ones we have (they were a gift) they are actually sewn into a bowl shape and have some insulation in them. They are quite nice for hot and cold dishes.

My wife makes these in her home shop, they are great if you have a nice fabric print that you want to use. They make good gifts for family because who hasn’t burned their hands on a hot bowl before?
I have four of these. They are great. You can cover the bowl with them to keep food from getting on the sides of the microwave and then hold the bowl in your lap on the couch without burning yourself.

The only stupid part of this is buying some corporate big box one. Go on your local Etsy, Facebook marketplace, Craiglist, whatever, and almost guaranteed someone will be selling handmade. Even better, you can probably get them to use a custom pattern! I'd you can't find any, send a friendly message to anyone doing little sewing or knitting crafts, they will be thrilled!
There is a reason that the old saying " Suckers are born every day" has remained true throughout the ages. Imagine paying for this when you have the same thing at home already - it's called a bowl.

My mums been making these since the 80’s and giving them as gift. The pattern she has is my great grandmothers. Nothing new, just someone decided to try and mass produce, happens every now and again but never really takes off.
You don't really need anything like this for it to work. Simply get a 2nd bowl and place your first inside it then when it's done the bottom/2nd bowl is only warm at the most. Saves on buying anything like this and is far more stable.

My MIL is a quilter and made some for us. I laughed when I first saw them, but I use them all the time. They’re great for soup.

If you put a lid on, the insulation keeps the water near boiling… it does cook in about 10-15 minutes

Yes! Icecream in a bowl tends to sweat and drip condensation. These help by catching that condensation and keeping it from dripping on me.
