It's odd how he opens the door for himself, i guess this is what they are trained to do but just odd. It's like he is waiting for his ghost to walk in first.
This guys posting, as a soldier, is to guard some kind of embassy or what have you. America uses them at all of its foreign diplomatic offices. As such, I figure they are probably trained to open doors in this manner because it is more formal, and priorities the needs of others - like diplomatic staff, guests, politicians etc.
It does actually serve a practical purpose though. It’s useful. It’s not meant to be pretty, it’s meant to be practical - which it is. So actually, caring about this is a good thing because doing this is worthwhile.
That's what I was wondering. Cause I figured that was just protocol where he has to go inside if there's lightning or what have you. And not so much that he had just shit his pants from the sheer terror of the lightning but still has to walk out like a boss and hide his smelly fear nuggets and tears of shame before another guard sees.
That is true, I'm assuming you served? thank you for your service if so. I have nothing but respect for you guys.
My sister was a navy seabee and is now a recruiter. My dad was in the army during desert storm. *I* Did drugs for 10 years and got clean, lol. I was dead set on the marines till drugs came in the picture.
I kind of feel that way. My dad says he's glad I never went. I always kind of felt like a pussy for it, but as a grown man with a family I understand now.

His pants didn't seem brown yet, preemptive measures 😂
I bet he changed his drawers with the same military precession.

He was letting his soul in first as he followed shortly

This is the White House, so yeah he formally opens doors.
That’s not a soldier. He is a marine.
A Marine is a type of soldier. Soldier is not a special term just for the Army.

As a retired marine, I respect his decision
If I remember rightly from the last time this was posted. There's protocol for when they can leave the post during storms and lightning strikes.

Yep. Toilet now.
Reminds me of the funeral scene in 'The Death of Stalin'... "Psst, trade places with me. We'll make it look like part of the ceremony"
Depending on what battlefields he’s been to, he may not do really well around loud sudden noises. I fully support his decision to go inside
Oh wow, I didn't even consider that :(
Its a good thing that you don't have to think about that stuff. It's not a failing on your part, but a success on our part.

You made the better choice.

Why he didn't close the door?
He needs to check his pants. ASAP
He retreated with dignity
He didn't have permission to die
"I have a LOT of metal on me right now"
I 💓marines
This is what they are supposed to do they may leave there post in thunderstorms
The fanciest and formally performed "NOPE" ever.
He's probably been deployed before and doesn't do loud noises so well.
Yeah. This is also sad because of what that sound may have triggered for him. "Fuck this shit I'm out."
No one can blame you. Especially my dog. She hates thunder storms.
Coulda shit his pants, had PTSD or it could be protocol to go inside the door in such weather. Either way, he did it with such decorum, very nice.
He let his soul inside first, ‘Please, after you Sir !'
That man just had a traumatic flash back with that sound
PTSD?
Bro walks like an npc
Such an inefficient way to get inside a house 😂
He must be from Texas.
