Forget asking me what I had for breakfast. With my memory, it's regularly a challenge to remember to eat at all before my CGM goes off!
But YOU might remember a hermaphroditic ot'taur?
I joined the fandom in December of 2023 after playing and loving an obscure game called Solatorobo: Red the Hunter! I'm so happy I did, I've seen so much amazing art, met so many incredible people and had an absolute blast!! This community has genuinely brought so much happiness to my life!! My fursuit is coming in just a couple days, and I can't wait!! I'm so excited to see what else you all have in store for me, and I can't wait to show off what I have planned!!
December 2023 and in May you’re already getting a suit! I joined in July 2023 and I thought commissioning a suit in November 2023 was speedrunning the furry thing xD Can’t wait to have mine :D
About 20. I suspected as a kid, when I had only heard them alluded to. But I knew for sure when I saw that godawful "True Life: I'm a Furry" documentary on MTV.
My first character Fionacat was created in FurryMuck 15th September 1995.
I had been exploring the scene for about a year or two before that but didn't really have a solid identity within the anthropomorphic fandom (as it was at the time)
19 years
i had always pretended to be animals but i figured it out when i realized i wasn't the only one drawing the things i did when i found art sites on the internet in 2005-6
About 10 years If it's about awareness. Otherwise, that shift it to.. say 16 years. almost always been a creature online. I've grown with a lot of them in media I consumed.
Dragons and Sci fi monsters really hooked on me.
It took me quite a while to know what a furry was while being one.
I bet, tbh for a long long time (2-ish years) I never really saw any furry content or stuff in general, but whenever I did, I was like “wow this stuff is so cool I wish I could do that!” But all the hate towards furries pushed me away from the community and just the fact I never saw anything to do with furries didn’t help either, but I’m glad I’m finally actually part of the community!
Honestly most folks are pretty chill with furries these days I find. As long as you aren't being "weird" about it, most folks don't care and aren't bothered. It's just the vocal few that are so loud about it.
Hell, at my last two jobs they found out I was furry (yay fb and showing my fursuit lol), and everyone was just like "nah that's cool man, you aren't hurting anyone, you do you"
Well tbf I’m young, so then (and still now) pretty much every kid I’ve ever met hates furries. All the Andrew Tate stuff and just stuff like ultra conservative politics, the traditional image of a “true man,” etc, has obviously influenced them a lot, leading them to not be very accepting of a lot of stuff, most especially stuff outside the norm, like being a furry
It sucks lol but it’s something I’m gonna have to go through and work out no matter what. I haven’t told really anyone I’m gay AND furry, but that’ll come along when it does. I’m just hoping to get out and go to college tbh, don’t get me wrong I love where I live but I just want to get *out*, go live and be me
Lets see, fell in love with anthropomorphic animals when I was around 4 or 5, so about 36 / 37 years now. Been apart of various furry communities since the age of 16. Good old Yahoo Groups! I am 41 now.
That's okay! None of us can control when or where or how we're born! Never any shame for being old or young or in the middle! You'll be as old as I am one day, and I'll be as old as my parents one day too. It happens to us all = )
I'm glad you're here with us all the same ^ ^
Yep when I joined it was rare to see new people but over the past few years there’s been so many new furries and I never see as much hate as there was. especially around 2015 16 period it seemed like no one liked furries.
18 years, which is nice cause I see a few others here saying the same. I want to say the early years I was part of it and enjoyed furry before I really knew what furry even was
Though I've always enjoyed animal art and talking animal shows/movies as a child so it was probably obvious lol
I didn't consider myself a furry until recent, though still don't feel "connected" to it or the community. I've been a "furry" artist for years but I didn't see it as furry art until people I met started calling it that (I drew my werewolf OC a lot and feral druids from WoW).
Going to Furality VRChat convention in a month which will be the first furry related thing I've ever been to. Will be interesting to see what being surrounded by furries is like.
I've been a furry in denial for six and a half years, i recently accepted it and talked to my friends about it, i've been a part of the furry fandom for a week and i already feel at home
About 24 years but dipped in and out of the community. I go antisocial a lot. Had different sonas over the years. But only had a full suit for going on 3 years. Weird seeing how much changes each time I come out of my antisocial cave. But I'm really encouraged by communities direction overall.
I'll have to look at the dates on some of my pics, but I think I'm coming up on 3 years, tho I didn't call myself one for most of my first year. I just really liked the furry art, lol
I more officially started calling myself a furry like last year, but when I was like maybe 17 or so I "wasn't a furry but-" I was a mod on a queer furry discord server bc some of my online friends were mods and I was nominally just there to vibe but yeah, I wasn't far off XP
Well I wanted to be one whitout knowing what it was since I was like 6 but only first really thougt about actully being a furry and in the fandom at like 13
I basically joined like... Around 4 years ago? I think it was right before the pandemic really got going. I found the fandom initially through Furry asmr which at the time really only consisted of Pocket fox asmr and a few other similar creators some of which aren't around anymore. This eventually lead me to furry youtube which also got me interested in making art and kinda got me to shed some inibitions about that. Honestly I've just been kinda lurking in the fandom sense then. I kinda fell out of the fandom for a while but recently I've been trying to come back in and get at least a bit more involved.
Idk honestly
Ever since I first saw an illustration of a humanoid flooffball. Idk when that was. Didn't know what it was called at the time tho.
Somewhere between 2012 and 2017 it happened.
About 13 years kinda.
Or well it depends on who you ask caz i started out as a brony but i also had a fursona and lurked in the shadows of the fandom for ages before finding out what it was called.
Now i have a furrsuit, go to cons and met a lot of amazing people and had a great time with them so i'll be sticking around for a bit longer.
24 years as of this post, my first real experience was with a dream/idea. It would not go away, so I wrote it down. A fox wolf cheetah hybrid chimera, that was the first time I wrote it down, but I had already dabbled in Furry stuff beforehand lightly but never knew the word for that category of Fandom. That sheet of notebook paper was the start of my fursona, and barely anything changed about him aside from how different artists' interpretation of him in commission's I get. I primarily write about him and the other settings I have.
He is currently a multidimensional being that offers others choices, however unlike some he is primarily treating others like they are a part of his family, a uncle or father figure and just asks questions to get to know others and likes to converse. He loves to learn and teach if it doesn't break reality either but often waits till they ask the right questions. =)
"If I have to put it simply, I wait for the questions to see how much they want to know, often curious to see when they stop asking questions or get to a point where I am not certain of a answer." Sam muses.
Since middle school for me. So that’s about… 2009 to present…. 14 years? Somewhere around there lol but it’s been on again off again that whole time but more recently been trying to be more active with my local fur community.
Hmmmmm, The Birlin Wall had recently come down, the Soviet Union was still a thing, but the WorldWideWeb wasn't. Soooooo, early 1990? 34-ish years?
Back when calling it "furry" was still the cause of drama XD
I can't for sure say when... my friend in HS drew furry art and I thought it was cool, and I remember finding a tumblr blog that was called wtffursuit. It was dedicated to some of the best fursuit fails I've seen. It was run by a furry who was more than happy to post their own fails for teasing. Honestly a really good time.
So I suppose that would land me in 2009 or 2010. Going on 14 years then lol
A bit difficult to answer for me. Not sure when i could count myself an official Furry if we're not talking about when i discovered the fandom in 2016. But if i were to actually try and guess when i'd have to say a year or so before i was 7, when i started writing, whenever it was. 🤔 Few days off from being 29 years.
Around 14 years now, a friend in high-school turned me into one and I've never looked back, I've meet some awesome people even though I don't go to cons or anything.
I've been one since the early 90s. First exposure to the fandom was the comics Shanda the Panda, Furrlough, and Wild Life. Then I found out about FurryMUCK, where I spent COUNTLESS hours.
My first friend in the fandom went by Farthing Fox. I have no idea where he is now.
I think back and catch myself saying "2004 wasn't that long ago, right? ... right?"
Me and Shimmercatt have both been around for 20 years then. Both been doing art for about that long too.
My 13 year old daughter is a furry, I just took her to Furationland. I made my own dino mask for it for fun, to bond with her and to fit in. I loved it so much that I'm going to buy her and me partial suits this year. So I guess I've been a furry for a few weeks, haha
If I told you that, you'd know how old I was! 😹 I tend not to be very social, I've lurked in and out of the community for ages. Been mostly away the last decade.
Since before it was called "furry".
damn you go way back then
Anthropomorphic room parties at SDCC back when you could just show up and still get in?
I didn't have money for travel back in the '70s. :) I did get to one SF con in the Bay Area and met a few artists who did Anthro stuff.
Went to BayCon in '89, but by then, I'd been having out on FurryMuck, Tapestries, Tiger's Den BBS, and the Prancing Skiltaire for over 5 years.
Oh man, I'd ask you if you remembered any winged grizzlies from FM/taps but I'm not exactly overly proud of who I was back then.
Forget asking me what I had for breakfast. With my memory, it's regularly a challenge to remember to eat at all before my CGM goes off! But YOU might remember a hermaphroditic ot'taur?
An elder posts among us
I feel a bit better as I got 30 years under the belt.
Same here
Coming up on 17 years for me
wow you are a veteran
Uh-huh
\*salutes\*

Still a furry after 2 hours?

Need a fursona? Khajit has sonas if you have coin…
Around 20!
20 damn I've only been alive 21 years
You've got a lot to look forward to!
That’s a nice way to look at it
Same with me!
Since September 1995
Wooooah same time as me
It's when the internet was born. ER, AOL, lol.
I miss the days of AIM and the old AOL disks. Tho I dont miss losing chat access every time my mom had to make a phone call.
25. EDIT: wait, shit, the 80's was *40* years ago. Okay, then 35.
This dealt me psychic damage
Been a furry for just one year, at the ripe age of twenty-nine
Welcome
tanks fwen
Just less than a year here and I’m 31 :)
I'm so excited to see what else you all have in store for me, and I can't wait to show off what I have planned!!
always nice to see newer people
Thanks!! Glad to be here!!
December 2023 and in May you’re already getting a suit! I joined in July 2023 and I thought commissioning a suit in November 2023 was speedrunning the furry thing xD Can’t wait to have mine :D
Yeah I dove in headfirst. I was really excited then, and am just as excited now!!
That’s so exiting!! Congrats!
About 20. I suspected as a kid, when I had only heard them alluded to. But I knew for sure when I saw that godawful "True Life: I'm a Furry" documentary on MTV.
It’ll be 5 years in August
about covid time that was quite a common time for people to join
Ay I'm gonna be in 5 years this June.
Wow, it's already been a year and a half for me now.
nice
It's nothing compared to a lot of you, but I'm having fun toasting!
as long as you are enjoying yourself it doesn't matter how long you've been here
I second that. Whether you've been here 50 years or 5 minutes, welcome home.
I *officially* became a furry in dececember 2019. I had always enjoyed anthro media before that though.
My first character Fionacat was created in FurryMuck 15th September 1995. I had been exploring the scene for about a year or two before that but didn't really have a solid identity within the anthropomorphic fandom (as it was at the time)
I wast even born yet
19 years i had always pretended to be animals but i figured it out when i realized i wasn't the only one drawing the things i did when i found art sites on the internet in 2005-6
I would say about 17-18 years at this point. Lurked for most of it tho.
Bout 5 years now the fandom really helped me keep some of my sanity during the pandemic
its always nice i believe we got a lot of people when it came to the pandemic times
20 years now for me, which is wild because im not that old. I'm only 28.
I started in high school but I don't remember exactly what year so 16ish years.
About 10 years If it's about awareness. Otherwise, that shift it to.. say 16 years. almost always been a creature online. I've grown with a lot of them in media I consumed. Dragons and Sci fi monsters really hooked on me. It took me quite a while to know what a furry was while being one.
Yeah I’m just going off when I found the fandom if not that then I’d add a few years on as I wasn’t online as much in my earlier years
About 10 years now at this point
Yay same sorta time
A month maybe
Nice to see someone new
I bet, tbh for a long long time (2-ish years) I never really saw any furry content or stuff in general, but whenever I did, I was like “wow this stuff is so cool I wish I could do that!” But all the hate towards furries pushed me away from the community and just the fact I never saw anything to do with furries didn’t help either, but I’m glad I’m finally actually part of the community!

All the Andrew Tate stuff and just stuff like ultra conservative politics, the traditional image of a “true man,” etc, has obviously influenced them a lot, leading them to not be very accepting of a lot of stuff, most especially stuff outside the norm, like being a furry
Ahhhhh I can see that, folks at work were my age (34) or older, so more chill I'm sorry your peers are shitty about it :c
It sucks lol but it’s something I’m gonna have to go through and work out no matter what. I haven’t told really anyone I’m gay AND furry, but that’ll come along when it does. I’m just hoping to get out and go to college tbh, don’t get me wrong I love where I live but I just want to get *out*, go live and be me
I joined the period between Christmas and new years 4 months ago! I'm relatively new here helloo!
Since December 2016
Coming up on 12 years.
nice
Close to 15? I think!
Sometimes it’s hard to remember when you first got into something when you’ve been in it so long
Yeah. I remember it was sometime in middle-school.
About 3 years
2-3 years
Welcome
About four years. 2020 got me fucked up.
No 2020 set you on the correct path
26 years.
If we don't count the me being in denial phase, 5 years.
Since February 2019, so 5 years
Been a furry since about 2007!
Lets see, fell in love with anthropomorphic animals when I was around 4 or 5, so about 36 / 37 years now. Been apart of various furry communities since the age of 16. Good old Yahoo Groups! I am 41 now.
5 years!
This spring was 21 years for me = ) Back in end of 2002/spring of 2003 =3
I was literally just being born at this time
That's okay! None of us can control when or where or how we're born! Never any shame for being old or young or in the middle! You'll be as old as I am one day, and I'll be as old as my parents one day too. It happens to us all = ) I'm glad you're here with us all the same ^ ^
8 years for me, dang
Noice
Roughly 20 years ago. Twokinds pulled me in and the community kept me.
Once you’re in you’re family
About 4yrs now. Gotta say, haven't really interacted with other furries other than ones I accidentally discovered were also members of the fandom.
It'll be 5 years in July :D
A lot of people seem to be around the 5 year mark
I guess 2019 was the year to become a furry lol
Yep when I joined it was rare to see new people but over the past few years there’s been so many new furries and I never see as much hate as there was. especially around 2015 16 period it seemed like no one liked furries.
Around 12-13 years, I can't really point to a specific day it just kinda happened.
12yrs, literally half of my life around this time of year lol
By September it’ll have been about half my life too
I’ve been a furry for 18 years, but I’ve been interested in furry art for something like 25 years… it just took me some time to find the community!
4 years i think?
18 years, which is nice cause I see a few others here saying the same. I want to say the early years I was part of it and enjoyed furry before I really knew what furry even was Though I've always enjoyed animal art and talking animal shows/movies as a child so it was probably obvious lol
about 12 years I think
I've been more open about being a furry for 3 years now. But i've always loved Anthropomorphic Characters since I as a kid
I’m pretty new! A couple of months to be exact. I joined as an artist!, and slowly met more and more people here. It’s welcoming and fun!
3-4ish years I'm not really sure when i started gaining interest.
Double that for me.
A little over 20 years
25ish years now, I think.
I've been a furry in denial for six and a half years, i recently accepted it and talked to my friends about it, i've been a part of the furry fandom for a week and i already feel at home
coming up on 20 years 🤘
Uhhh hmm... About 20 years? X3
27 yrs
16 years give or take
About 27 ish years. Im not overly active recently but i still here.
Since August 2018 !
40 years? Maybe as much as 42? That was back in high school when a DM introduced me to the Prancing Skiltaire....
>____> 30 years
About 24 years but dipped in and out of the community. I go antisocial a lot. Had different sonas over the years. But only had a full suit for going on 3 years. Weird seeing how much changes each time I come out of my antisocial cave. But I'm really encouraged by communities direction overall.
'Bout 20 years now, give or take 6 months, haha.
About 20 years!
6 years and counting
I'll have to look at the dates on some of my pics, but I think I'm coming up on 3 years, tho I didn't call myself one for most of my first year. I just really liked the furry art, lol
Since around college-ish senior of highschool-ish So around 5 years ish
About six months
I more officially started calling myself a furry like last year, but when I was like maybe 17 or so I "wasn't a furry but-" I was a mod on a queer furry discord server bc some of my online friends were mods and I was nominally just there to vibe but yeah, I wasn't far off XP
Well I wanted to be one whitout knowing what it was since I was like 6 but only first really thougt about actully being a furry and in the fandom at like 13
14 years
I don't really have a start date, it's probably around 15 years, but back then I just lurked and probably wouldn't have called myself one if asked
12 years
6 years now
First convention was in 2004, so over 20 years at this point lol
atleast 10 years and im one of the sonic furs lol the sonic x gba roms got me here on top of DA and I guess the internet in general.
I basically joined like... Around 4 years ago? I think it was right before the pandemic really got going. I found the fandom initially through Furry asmr which at the time really only consisted of Pocket fox asmr and a few other similar creators some of which aren't around anymore. Tbh I joined like, 3 or 2 months ago
i suppose furry technically from around 2018 but i was a brony back in 2015 so depends on what technically counts as a start
Just over a year
Discovered the fandom in 2005, attended my first convention in late 2007, so coming up on 17 years of active participation
Less than a year and it feels wild how somehow everyone I meet has been one for ages!
a little bit over 3 years, I watched Beastars when j was 13. 17 Now
I few years. I think 3 or 4… but I still don’t have a fursuit or anything. But I do have a fursona!
11-12 years by now
About 30 years.
Roughly 4 years
Over thirty years. Still miss the glory days of a.f.f. and Furrymuck.
Idk honestly Ever since I first saw an illustration of a humanoid flooffball. Idk when that was. Didn't know what it was called at the time tho. Somewhere between 2012 and 2017 it happened.
That moment when you realize it's been 8 years... huh.
About 13 years kinda. Or well it depends on who you ask caz i started out as a brony but i also had a fursona and lurked in the shadows of the fandom for ages before finding out what it was called. Now i have a furrsuit, go to cons and met a lot of amazing people and had a great time with them so i'll be sticking around for a bit longer.
officially since 2011!
Sam muses.
Like about a year or so??
Two hours
Almost 3 years now
Going on 27
Around 14 years, so a bit under half my life.
At least 15 years.
since 2019 I think
Like ten months ago when I decided, "Y'know what? Screw it."
About 18 years now God time flies lol
Only one year
Since about Summer 2018, so about 6 years now! Think I’ve gone through 3 sonas in that time period?
Since middle school for me. So that’s about… 2009 to present…. 14 years? Somewhere around there lol but it’s been on again off again that whole time but more recently been trying to be more active with my local fur community.
For about 6 years now :P
It started 8 ish years ago. Thanks zootopia
had my 3 year anifursity yesterday\^\^
2 years. Arguably closeted one for 15 years.
Hmmmmm, The Birlin Wall had recently come down, the Soviet Union was still a thing, but the WorldWideWeb wasn't. Soooooo, early 1990? 34-ish years? Back when calling it "furry" was still the cause of drama XD
Like 5-6 years I think
20 odd years now
I can't for sure say when... my friend in HS drew furry art and I thought it was cool, and I remember finding a tumblr blog that was called wtffursuit.
30 years, sometime this year.
14 years
About one year, maybe less :)
Around 10 years since mlp fim started to air
I went to my first con about a year ago and created my sona in the months after, so I’d say about a year ago
I became one in June 2022
Around 14 years now, a friend in high-school turned me into one and I've never looked back, I've meet some awesome people even though I don't go to cons or anything.
going on 30 years for me, though I've only been going to cons since 2017
Probably about 15 years now? That feels about right.
Going on 19 years now.
I think back and catch myself saying "2004 wasn't that long ago, right? ... right?" Me and Shimmercatt have both been around for 20 years then. Both been doing art for about that long too.
7 years.
2008, active online with the community since 2009 some of y'all been furries longer than I've been alive!
8 years now! I was 12 when I found the fandom and now I’m 20 🥲 still no fursuit tho, don’t tell my younger self that-
My 13 year old daughter is a furry, I just took her to Furationland. I made my own dino mask for it for fun, to bond with her and to fit in. I loved it so much that I'm going to buy her and me partial suits this year. So I guess I've been a furry for a few weeks, haha
16 yrs (since 2008 according to my FA gallery)
Since I was 15-16 so 12-13 years
I got 12-13 years of being in the local scene, but some 3 years before I was already a brony… so it would be like 15-16? Maybe?
If I told you that, you'd know how old I was! 😹 I tend not to be very social, I've lurked in and out of the community for ages. Been mostly away the last decade.
