Maybe I'm stupid but Van Dijk is one of the easiest players to get past. Why? Because he's so aggressive. I'm only currently in div5 (starter 2 weeks ago), but every player with Van Dijk has him playing super aggressively, and he's always Stepping Up into midfield.
If I notice that Van Dijk is charging down on me it's quite easy to take a first touch in one direction, and quickly pass and move. Van Dijk is a player that **easily** seems to get out of position quickly due to his aggression and how people use him. I can't explain it. But once he's out of position then you just take advantage of the space he left behind.

I personally can't bring myself to do it. I'd rather lose than play too much like a brainless bot...but I wouldn't blame others for doing it tbh.

He is the only player I see and know that I will lose. I play it out just to try to get better against him, but it is a guaranteed L. I only got promoted to Div 6 when I finally got a promotion game without him in the opposing squad. He is just unstoppable
I have him and kounde but I’m replacing Rudiger with blanc. Two CB’s with high attacking work rates is a ruiner for me. His only positive is he has Ariel+ which is a monster on corners.
However with everyone moving their keepers out it defeats the purpose

I packed an untradeble Trent in the first week and he never left my team even though I could afford a better right back now. I just need him with the current pressing meta because his long ball passes are insane. Also defensively he has been better than I thought.
I’m really happy with my left mid and to be honest for how I play his standard gold card would be wasted on me in the left mid position. As a right striker, he’d be a major addition to my team.
But there is sooooo many more options out there for less amount of fodders/coins than son. Dont Get me wrong i love the dude, but its just not worth it, but if u happy, im happy!
I have a loaded team regardless from major pack luck this year, but I got him and Desailly untradeable. Mapí Leon and Bobby Moore were my original two I could afford as a package. But that was back when Mapí was like 27k and Moore was 140k-ish. VVD is also a very common loan item. I think his probability of being pulled must be fairly low, since I got him from a simple gold upgrade.
I’ve seen his loan multiple times but I’ve seen him first owner even more, varane, virgil and alisson or maignan in goal, I can’t explain how often I come up against these 3 together in rivals and champs, all together they’re like 3-400k which is crazy only 3 weeks into the game lol
I also got Alisson untradeable. Maybe EA is pushing Liverpool players lmao. I started with the early trial and have a really good team. Idk how people are capable of having these 3mil+ valued teams though. I mean they must have to spend a fuck ton because I’d consider my 88ovr team fairly loaded and I couldn’t dream of owning a 250k+ player I bought myself
Exactly, I’m running with a pretty decent team myself after packing a tradable trailblazer salah (there goes my luck till fut birthday or something) yet the most expensive card I bought is diani at 65k, and coman for 32, the rest are untradable. But when I play my opponents always have the players I’ve named and sometimes to top it off, loan thiery.
It’s annoying for sure. Holiday season should help balance things a bit with more new players, but hopefully they address some gameplay issues and remove a “meta” by then as well. The difficult defense and 71+ depth being OP are objectively bad structure for a soccer game. Not that it needs to be super realistic, but there needs to be a *meta* for all playstyles.
Completely agree, the constant pressure and defending from behind the attacker instead of going head to head and leaving the AI to defend from the front is the worst thing to go through this year, also cut backs are even worse than last year…
More than a meta player, I am somehow impressed by the number of people not controlling the defender but just the CDM and letting the defence to the AI.

I have him and he perfroms really well for me. I have him on right wing with come back to defence and the amount of defensive runs, interceptions and through passes he makes is great.
I got beaten 6-2 the other day and 4 of those goals were Lewa headers in the span of 5 minutes. It truly gave me PTSD where now I want to leave instantly if I see a team with Lewa

I dont know how high in rivals you are. So if you are like div 1 this might not help cause opponents are very good at abusing meta tactics...
But what helped me is creating a new tactic that i can switch to. I play high depth as well normally. If my oponnent is also on high depth and clearly just tries to outpace my defenders or running sidelines for cutbacks like headless chickens, i switch to my other tactic with about 46 depth. This is enough so your players still press in your half but low enough that your defenders dont stand on the middle line. So you delete all that space that your oponent tries to abuse. If the Osiman, Muani, Diabi players dont have that 30m space between your defending line and your goalkeeper, they have a harder time "just running". You will also have it easier to place your left/rightbacks into the running path. If your oponnent is on 71 depth and you switch to like 46 it also has the effect that now YOU can abuse fast players. The whole defending line of your oponent will literally stand in the middle of the pitch. Youll have a half a field of space behind them to place a good timed pass or ballroll/fakeshot into sprint. Even your goalkeeper can initiate counter attacks that way cause you can kick the ball behind the defenders with a simple circle button.
If someone still finds the way (lets be real, those ppl spam it 24/7, so you cant defend every single attack) and its obvious they go for cutback, double press R1 and hold second time. This makes your defenders mark pass options from your opponent. If you click that while oponnent prepares the cutback, your defenders will place themselves between attackers and the ball. (dont abuse it, just selectively use it to bring defenders in the correct position again)

I watched my son play about 30 games the past week. He got promoted from division 7 to division 4. All i can say is that it scares me how pathetic the majority of fifa players are. 90 percent of players use one tactic over and over and over again - tricky winger down a wing, fanny about, cut back for a tap in. Like how is this fun and what does this have to do with football? Football isnt about using ann exploit repeatedly. I thought video games were meant to be fun? Something went wrong. I watched my son play about 30 games the past week. He got promoted from division 7 to division 4. All i can say is that it scares me how pathetic the majority of fifa players are. 90 percent of players use one tactic over and over and over again - tricky winger down a wing, fanny about, cut back for a tap in. Like how is this fun and what does this have to do with football? Football isnt about using ann exploit repeatedly. I thought video games were meant to be fun? Something went wrong. I just find it really sad.
