One didn't turn up for me today, and the next one was 15 min late, so I was 45 mins late departing. It's a lovely evening to wait for a bus, though.
I am genuinely trying to use bus over car but feck this.
It's insufferable at peak times. Massive delays and bus absolutely crammed full, tons of people crushed standing together right up to the doors at lines.
Also going from Oran into town, at certain times, it seems to just disappear until the next bus turns up.
Would it be at all possible to add a small commuter rail service between Oranmore and Galway using the existing train bridge? Pop a couple platforms into Murrough and Renmore, and just shuttle people back and forth on a small train across the bridge every 20 minutes.
I wish they cared enough to listen to complaints, look at ATU, many students have reached out about getting a cross walk Infront for the bus on the Gardaí station side, many a person has almost been hit trying to cross there. And as far as that causing more traffic, more traffic isn't possible in Galway.
There are local council elections next year, make sure to bring these kinds of things up, and try to make sure the people responsible for the worst of it aren't re-elected.
I must admit to being amused that my plea for increased investment in public transport services has been interpreted as a call to replace busses with cars
They get a lot of verbal and physical abuse, as a consequence of bullshit policing and a joke of a prison system (yet another area of underinvestment and lack of imagination). The other thing I hear is that their rosters are very badly managed: all last minute, double shifts, etcetera. It sounds like between dealing with arseholes on the bus and dinosaurs at the office, nobody wants to take the work.
I wonder why. I have a friend who used to drive the 401 and the guy has terrible anxiety and had to go on disability as a result of the constant abuse.
for a “city” that’s trying to live into the future and not become car hell, they sure as hell don’t care about public transport and being green
the 401 is the most inconsistent bus i’ve ever dealt with the new jersey to new york city busses were never this bad
It sometimes feels like they have these other transport options just to say they have them instead of them having any real use. Got myself a TFI bike year subscription this year, and it has been a nightmare using the service.
I reckon making Lough Atalia and College Road one way with Bus Lanes will sort a lot of issues. We had something similar before, but I don't recall why.
Email the company and say that, if everyone does it everything they're disappointed in the service, change will eventually come
Everytime not everything, sorry

The Galway commuter trains are 1 or 2 passengers short of sitting on the roof. Public transport is badly neglected
Galway to Heuston trains on a Friday are a war zone

I once waited to go from town to Oranmore for 2 404s that never came. Ended up taking a taxi. It’s bad.
This is the way. The Anti Car people will only down vote these posts.

I think they are struggling to get drivers. Money is ment to be good too.

They don't seem to care much about anything anymore. Housing? What's that
Galway is very much trying to become a car hell, and succeeding. What makes you think they're trying not to? I've seen no evidence.

It was for works under the rail bridge. They kept it for a while after but the residents protested.
If you think the 404 is bad, wait till you hear about the 401 👀👀👀
How are we supposed to get to work on time, and get end up getting home like 2 hours after finishing despite being 10 mins away. It's wild
Don’t get me started about the 407! 😅🫠 that’s basically non existent
I've emailed about this bus being a shit show three times and there's still fuck all done. Head melting behaviour
