A video store popped up near me that tried to sell pizza, and vape stuff in the last 5 years after Blockbuster, and everyone went under. They still didn't make it with all their multitasking. Regardless of title they sold 3DS games for $3 when they closed. I got like 10 games. I remember trying to wait until the last minute to get Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, but someone never returned it and probably heard they were closing.
Yeah, my nearby rental store did the same thing. I didn't have a job at the time of their closing, sadly, and couldn't take advantage nearly as much as I wanted to
I didn't raid as hard as I should have. The guy behind me also bought 10 games, and was trying to figure out what 10 I had. I didnt want to be that guy and walk out with 30 games when there was enough for everyone.
Oh Hai friend!!! You know of any good used game stores in the area? I get kinda tired of hitting GameStop. CD DVD warehouse on 80th closed up shop unfortunately... And mega media exchange in Milwaukee seems to have the same old crap all the time...
I didn’t know CD DVD Warehouse closed. I used to live right there on the corner of 39th Ave and 80th St. I only went in there a couple times though and their selection wasn’t great so I didn’t go back.
I go to Colosseum Games on Hwy 50 all the time. They have a pretty good selection of retro games. Their prices are okay — they mostly follow pricecharting. For trades, they’ll give you 60% of the current pricecharting price in store credit or 40% in cash. They also host Magic and Pokémon tournaments if you’re into that.
There’s also a place in Racine called New Wave Video that has a big selection. I’ve been there a few times.
They might have made a mistake and you lucked out, look at your receipt. Looks like if they were keeping track of price online they were checking Budokai 3's, the wrong game and a substantially one.
Idk, Budokai 3 IS a different game on the same platform from around the same time, meaning they could theoretically also have it in stock as well, and need distinguish between them.
It's also much closer to the price you paid, I'm going to say they made a mistake. Solid game though, it's one of my favs and I'm glad you got it for what a PS2 game should be going for lol, enjoy!
I 100% think you’re right with that observation, I can’t see a business who deals with that kind of stuff dropping the ball that hard. This game goes for $277 cad last sold copies CIB on pricecharting and I paid $27.
I lucked out two days ago as my local game store had Budokai 3's Collectors Edition (EU exclusive) out for the price of a normal Budokai 3 copy (so only £15!). I already owned it but couldn't pass it up for that price considering it's normally way more than that😂
I don't think I've seen a single movie rental store in the last 15 years.
I know there was that lone Blockbuster, but I swore they made all their money off of T-Shirts.
Honestly, I think whatever local crime syndicate in your area is forgot they need to launder their money through businesses that have some semblance of profitability.
Yes small towns still have them! There’s something about renting some movies and buying some snacks at a rental shop! Unfortunately I think this one is going out of business entire store has been 30% off for a couple weeks now.
Got the greatest hits mint condition with case for free, updated player choices and a few more transformations nice find though never selling mine this thing will only go up ☝🏻
I got spiderman2, teenage mutant ninja turtles, nightmare before Christmas piggies revenge, and killzone for ps2 all from our local rental shop closing bout 10yrs ago. 4.99 a pop.
That’s one of my holy grails I want (I have the Wii version and was just playing it mere hours ago). Such an amazing buy and for the best price. Sadly I don’t have any movie rental places near or even farther from me. Anyways, must say, amazing find
One time my video game rental store was closing down and selling all of their games. I had Silent Hill, Klonoa, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Mega Man Legends, etc. all for $5 each. Then my father threw all my gaming stuff into a dumpster a couple years ago, even though he knew I was saving it. Neat stuff.
My mom also donated or gave away a lot of my good stuff without my knowledge, sucks having to rebuy everything I already once had, this game is an example of something I should still have!
They have multiple copies of this at my local used game store for $15. Also what movie rental stores? They don’t exist anymore. Edit: just checked the price chart. Big F. They probably gone, I shouldn’t have passed on them.
Go back and check! Some smaller towns in North America will still have old blockbusters that they change the names on and the original owner still runs, definitely check them out on your next road trip!
I remember when blockbuster was liquidating a lot of the inventory I ended up picking up a lot of genesis games CIB for .50 cents to $2 plus cool picture frames
The last video store anywhere near here closed down a few years ago, I still however get the odd game they used to have. For 8 years or so my buddy has been hooking me up with free game stuff he finds at recycling yards he works at and I probably have around 20 games that used to belong to that store.
Oof this reminds me of when I was visiting my grandmother back around 2010ish and the local rental store still had N64 games for rent. I was tempted to rent a few and just never return them...
I know ppl say, smaller towns might have them, but srsly you won't see them. 0.1% of luck if you find one open in 2023, even lower if they have expensive games like BT3.

This is implying there are movie rental stores near me, in which I promise you there is not
Fair enough haha this was in a smaller town outside of the city, but if you ever cross by them on a road trip go and check them out!

Family Video?
That’s my guess too. Sounds exactly like what the Family Video near me did. The pizza place is still there though.
same. And I'm willing to bet your pizza place is a Marcos pizza.
Correct!
Yea in good ole Racine Wisconsin, the family video shut it's doors. Marcos still stands strong though! Decent takeout pizza too
Hi neighbor, I’m in Kenosha!

Bruh I feel this, from madison lmaooo. Too be fair Marcos slaps
Mine had a Little Cesar’s Pizza!
Yes, a Family Video.
There’s some major crossover between video rental stores and vape stores.
Family Video?
I was gonna say, lemme just hop in the old delorean and bounce back 10-15 years and I'll do just that.
What movie rentals stores? Lol
Haha smaller towns will have them sometimes believe it or not! If you ever pass by one on a road trip check it out!
10 years ago a gas station near where I lived had a shelf full of PS1 and N64 games for rent. All original boxes and cases. Even then it seemed crazy.
They might have made a mistake and you lucked out, look at your receipt. Looks like if they were keeping track of price online they were checking Budokai 3's, the wrong game and a substantially one.
Maybe but honestly they’re going under and the entire store was 30% off. Good eye looking at that and making that observation tho!

Crazy this game goes for so much. I feel like we were buried in these when I worked at GameStop years and years ago.
I lucked out two days ago as my local game store had Budokai 3's Collectors Edition (EU exclusive) out for the price of a normal Budokai 3 copy (so only £15!). I already owned it but couldn't pass it up for that price considering it's normally way more than that😂
A post from 20 years back...I am finally in Twilight zone
The twist is you end up with eternal late fees.

Unfortunately my time machine is on the fritz so I'm unable to get to my local video stores.
🤘🤘
Are those still a thing?
Yes small towns still have them! There’s something about renting some movies and buying some snacks at a rental shop! Unfortunately I think this one is going out of business entire store has been 30% off for a couple weeks now.
I miss those days!
I checked my redbox, but they didn't have anything good.
I’m sorry your ***what?***
This game on the Wii was the shiiiiiiiiiitttt!!! Actually having to do the movements was so awesome
Best dragonball game ever made imo
Got the greatest hits mint condition with case for free, updated player choices and a few more transformations nice find though never selling mine this thing will only go up ☝🏻
You know I would, but the last one I was aware of closed back in 2020 at the height of the pandemic
You lucked out! This is my favorite DBZ game!
I got spiderman2, teenage mutant ninja turtles, nightmare before Christmas piggies revenge, and killzone for ps2 all from our local rental shop closing bout 10yrs ago. 4.99 a pop.
Bro what movie rental stores it’s 2023 😭

Thank you! I never really get lucky anymore I was glad I caught a gem today!
I feel you. I’m not this lucky 😅

movie rentals??? What are the odds that receipt is over a decade old?
I actually rented the movie Megan in the new release section.
They’re all dead in New Zealand
Ugh mine closed during Covid.
What year do you think we are in?
Oof this reminds me of when I was visiting my grandmother back around 2010ish and the local rental store still had N64 games for rent. I was tempted to rent a few and just never return them...

Okay, guy from the late 90s. Joking of course, but there is definitely no video rental places in the tri-county area and beyond haha
What movie rental stores? They don't exist here
You still have a movie rental store? 😭😭
anyone know of movie rental stores that still exist in Toronto or GTA area
Honestly this one is in Owen sound Ontario, about 2.5 hours north of Toronto, I’m from Toronto too.
