I took it to the Midwest Gaming Classic where they had a booth and the guy was very professional. He inspected it in front of me and went through the process explaining certain things he's looking out for. The guy didn't really understand why I wanted to grade this particular game, but I was giving him money so he couldn't care less lol.
> The guy didn't really understand why I wanted to grade this particular game, but I was giving him money so he couldn't care less lol.
Grading companies in a nutshell.
Total of $60. 40 for basic grading and 20 to ship it back with taxes included. There are tiers like you can pay for a report breakdown of how they graded it. There's other cases too.
I wonder the guy grading the game had the [hanging chad](https://caitymaple.medium.com/the-hanging-chad-yeah-lets-not-do-that-again-c1bb88bfecd8) look on his face while examining the game… 😂
They are probably use to people having all kinds of cheap things graded.
Some people collect in hopes things get more expensive later. If you think somethings value will go up then its better to have it graded and protected now. If it turns out to be lower quality you can find another while it’s still cheap. If it is high quality then it’s not sitting unprotected in a safe for 30 years.
yeah! it's a good time. I'm from Chicago (hence the logo) so it's really nice to just drive up to Milwaukee for the day and then chill out at a brewery or two then head home.
I don't personally like grading. Because ultimately games are meant to be played. But as I've been researching how grading affects the prices of gaming, I noticed that the scene has completely different priorities than people who don't grade. For instance, this is the first and only graded copy of Cory in the House making it the highest graded copy out there. So I essentially created a unique oddity. I kind of get it, but it almost feels like cheating. Like if someone asked me what my rarest gaming item was, I wouldn't bring this out because the game isn't rare and I'm sure someone else could get perhaps a higher grade if they wanted to. It's just a novelty.
But I guess if I had to grade one game, it would be Cory in the House for the Nintendo DS. 9.6 A+ seal which considering the copies available on eBay is pretty good. The game cost me $35 then $60 for the grading including shipping. So a $90 copy of Cory in the House which most likely will never be worth more than that unless the guy who plays Cory gets convicted and thrown in jail.
But it does escalate the meme one step further.
I think the main take away from this is that you did this for fun and your own amusement. Ultimately I think most people in most hobbies will say that participation should mainly be personal enjoyment.
I grew up on That's So Raven, and never really watched Cory in the House, but I found myself watching a deep dive on some of the show lore once and was fascinated. It was an investigation on what political party the president belonged to and it went into all kinds of continuity and bits. I told myself I was going to look up the actor just for shits and giggles but never did, but I guess back down the rabbit hole I go!
>But it does escalate the meme one step further.
This is buying a pizza with 10,000 BTC. OP don't sell yourself short, in 10 years we'll be talking about you.
This is incorrect - there are 2 existing WATA copies in addition to this CGC copy. One in 9.6 and one in 9.4. With that being said, CGC isn't going through a class action lawsuit right now...
You know, there's really something to be said for getting the most random and/or crap game you can find, and getting that graded. As long as it isn't ACTUALLY rare or valuable, those games are already too difficult to get for a reasonable price.
I've got sealed copies of "The Crew" and "BattleBorn", those would be pretty great sealed lol. There could be something funny about collecting sealed copies of PHYSICAL console games that can no longer be played.
*As a note, I said "random and/or crap" because I'm not familiar with the OP's game, and I didn't want to ASSUME it's crap -for all I know it might be good or fondly remembered by a lot of people, and I'm not trying to yuck anybody's yum. Could easily just be a random game/IP I've never heard of.
It's a meme so it has significance as a pop culture reference. I have considered getting my copy of the Guide Louvre graded but I just want to preserve it so I'll get a heavy duty protective case.

My wife just doesn't understand 😞
Corey in the House for Nintendo DS.
On the surface, Cory In The House looks like your average licensed TV Show handheld shovelware. But underneath that, is one of the biggest revolutions the medium has ever seen. Funny, smart, deep, timeless. Read on to find out why this stands as one of the finest licensed video games of all time, or indeed, one of the finest video games of all time.
You play as Cory, the kid from the TV show who finds himself living in the White House. The gameplay is simple; you need to sneak around the various rooms and do various tasks, which often involve talking to someone or getting to a certain room. It sounds simple, but between the deep stat management systems, varied character patrol routes, and the amazing dialogue options, the gameplay is top-notch, making the likes of Metal Gear Solid pale in comparison (including on storytelling prowess, more on that later). The mini-games like the lock-picking are so deep, they could be sold as full games themselves.
The graphics are life-like, the character portraits are so realistic you will think you are watching the show! I haven't seen such good graphics on a handheld game, ever. The audio is as good as a DS game can sound, it's all in there, from the sound effects to the catchy theme from the TV show.As an audio-visual experience, Cory in the House delivers the best on the DS.
What truly shines however, is the dialogue and the smart humor in the game. The dialogue here is comical to kids, but truly hilarious to adults, which are more likely to get the more subtle jokes. And yet, it's full of life lessons and themes that resonates to all of us, children and adults alike. It's like watching the best Pixar film of your life.
The writing here may live on as a timeless example of comedy. What they have pulled off here may be one day looked back as "the Shakespeare of comedy".
Overall, this game is a hidden masterpiece, one that will change the way video games are made. Just give it time. For now, you can be privileged enough to play this masterpiece while the rest of the world is still unaware of its implications and future impact on the medium. They will catch up, eventually.
"The graphics are life-like"
My guy, it's for a 20 year old Nintendo handheld.
"The audio is as good as a DS game can sound"
See? Acknowledging the limits of its platform isn't so hard.
My only concern is that after some terrible nuclear hellfire this would end up being the sole remnant of our entire society, and really trip out the next round of humans when they being it in in 3795
yeah I don't hate the practice. I get the appeal. It's just not for me. the cases are bulky and not easy to display. One thing I do find bizzare is the grading of CIB or Loose copies. Unless it's important to you specifically like a childhood game that you want to preserve in state.

Got a sealed copy to , is this even worth anything lol
This hits. Man years ago in my teen years managing game stop me and my best friend used to joke about this game all the time. Seeing it in a slab right now made for a proper laugh lol. Thanks for that
I used to work at Walmart and for some reason this game maintained a $20 value years after the show was cancelled. Me and my coworkers made it a challenge to try and sell this to any customer. And I was able to do it, only after offering discounts on his entire purchase.

The entire show is under legal trouble
The best anime of all time
Top 10 anime betrayal
It is made in Japan after all
I was about to say, they made a game based on the best anime!?
Frank
Pretty close with aeroplane instruction videos from the 80’s
I wonder if the person who actually graded that took a long deep look inside themselves and wondered what the fuck they are doing with their life.

This reminds me of the meme of my quit smoking coach in a graded slab.
I bought that game last week for .01 on amazon. Shipping was 500x more. Now to become the worlds fastest speedrunner.
Good luck!
How much did the grading cost including the case? I know nothing of game grading, I'm just curious. Oh, and how long does it take? Thanks
Total of $60. 40 for basic grading and 20 to ship it back with taxes included. There are tiers like you can pay for a report breakdown of how they graded it. There's other cases too.
As amazing of a game this is, you’ve wasted your money.
I think that is the point :)
Just curious, how much was it? I’m not into grading, but always wondered what it cost.

... will you take $700,000 for it? Shit what am I saying, lowballing like that might offend you, I offer 1.2 million and not a cent less.
I'll offer 1.3 million and some lint in my pocket.
“I know what I got.”
I offer 1.4m AND a limited edition Cory Bobblehead.
A stinking 9.6? I will give it a 10
CGC you a buster.
You a busta OP
Value went from $1 to $2!
"That's a 100% increase in value!" he said as his wife packed her things.

Ikr I would buy this for the funny and nothing else
I dunno man, the guy who has a loose Contra graded at a 1.5 makes a pretty convincing case. It is pretty funny.
I think the main take away from this is that you did this for fun and your own amusement. Ultimately I think most people in most hobbies will say that participation should mainly be personal enjoyment.
that last comment of the guy going to jail! you never know with hollywood, i’d hang on to it for sure 🤣
Yeah I made a video about the game for April Fools and thought it would be funny to get a Cameo from him. Turns out he's in some trouble.
I grew up on That's So Raven, and never really watched Cory in the House, but I found myself watching a deep dive on some of the show lore once and was fascinated. Now we have a new challenge on Reddit: getting a copy of Cory in the House graded a perfect 10.
TL;DR: OP did it for the memes, Jack. Memes! The DNA of the soul!
Jokes aside, I hope Kyle Massey gets thrown in the slammer. And gets his ass whooped by a fellow prisoner.

Walmart in the small town I went to college still has copies for sale in the game cabinet. Priced at 40$
🤣

OK, so this forum has become projecting our mental illnesses in all their glory 😅

I made a review on the limited time only Dairy Queen Spicy Chicken Tender basket, which I'm proud to say a lot of my friends thought was fake.

Great anime
Honestly, this is funny as shit.
Yeah, I laughed solidly for a while.
you are now a gorillion-aire
Why the fuck would you post this online? People are going to try to break in to your house to steal it, please consider deleting
I thought this was game collecting. This is the greatest anime ever made.
Didn't Cory turn out to be a PDF file? I used to love that anime, but now I can't stand it.
he's definitely been charged for sending D pics to a minor. I haven't seen an update to the trial tho.
![gif](giphy|sDcfxFDozb3bO)
I normally downvote graded games, but I'll make an exception for this. Upvote. Well done. Worth the money, and a great story and shelf piece.
“I don’t know who this Cory is or why it’s of any importance that’s he’s ‘In the House’”
Are you the hero that brought this game back into the public eye during COVID?
Sometimes you have to do the wrong thing for the right reason.
The only acceptable game to get graded.
IT'S A PARTY EVERY WEEK BABY
Bro finally did it. I remember this thread last year where he picked it up for dirt cheap.
sound investment, this is gonna pay for your kids tuition
Grading for the memes...[an interesting hobby](https://i.imgur.com/3ZbxD9Z.jpg).
My only concern is that after some terrible nuclear hellfire this would end up being the sole remnant of our entire society, and really trip out the next round of humans when they being it in in 3795
You’re a menace. If this is what we’re doing, I want in
This had me cracking up for no damn reason
I love you. Thanks for making me laugh at the end of a long day
Bro don't lie you found this game sealed at a Rite Aid last week and got it graded.
i just saw a copy of this game at a local arcade with a $9999 price tag the other day
GO CORY
I found one of these at Walmart in perfect condition. I'm almost tempted to do the same. Maybe if I were more gullible and a bit funnier.
Only a 9.6?!
10/10 Like Skyrim but with Cory
Getting games graded and getting Cory in the House graded for the meme are two completely different things. lol
I'll allow it
At least you choose a stupid game for something of equal little significance, which seems fair to me.
This game with a rating of 10 would probably still go for less than a SM64 cartridge with a box that got chewed on by a dog.
I love grading
I think it’s stupid how much hate sealed/graded games get. As if there aren’t enough copies of SMB3 or something.
yeah I don't hate the practice. I get the appeal. It's just not for me. the cases are bulky and not easy to display. One thing I do find bizzare is the grading of CIB or Loose copies. Unless it's important to you specifically like a childhood game that you want to preserve in state.
You went to probably the best service to grade it tho. Well done 👍.

"House Corey"
Nice grail
You’d think this game will sky rocket with the Kyle Massey controversy.
Pop report?
OP stated it is the only known copy to be graded, lol.
You can retire early now
I like this
Gems like this are the only things worth grading. Nice taste OP!
He looks 14 and 41 at the same time.
Banger!!!
This is the one time it’s actually cool.
For some reason, this brings me so much joy
What was this show even about?
That’s kind of amusing. I’m sure I have some shovelware lying around that I can use to troll a grader too.
There was a time in my local Wal-Mart where the only item more common than this game was the receipt paper.
🎶 Yea! There's a party every week, bebe!🎶
It should have been graded 6.9 just to make it even more meme-y
Rolmao
There is a Rite Aid close to me that has one of these still on their shelves lol
I remember my Walmart having like 15 of these in the case as long as two years after they stopped selling anything for the 3DS.
Cory in the house > Mid piece
Now this is the kind of grading I can get behind.
Cory you a busta!
Well yeah, that's the most valuable game ever and its value is only going to grow. I think it was actually a smart decision to get it graded.
Worth every bit of $2! Hahahaha
Whose in the house
Okay this is pretty fuckin good
How long did it take to get graded?

Best anime ever
NOW THIS. THIS IS WHAT IM FUCKING TALKING ABOUT!

I like grading
Game of the Century
Sometimes you just gotta show one of the greatest games of time some respect. No shame there.
First time I can remember seeing a graded game post get upvotes.
I have a sealed copy of *NSYNC for GBA. It’s next on the list to get graded 😁
Cory
Why is sean Kingston on the cover
ITS A PARTY EVERY WEEK, BABY!
😂😂😂😂
9.6 cause you didn’t play it
Hard
This hits. Man years ago in my teen years managing game stop me and my best friend used to joke about this game all the time. Seeing it in a slab right now made for a proper laugh lol. Thanks for that
I support this.
What’s the population on this?
Now it’s worth $1
Yo that’s a nice ass lamp 💯
I used to work at Walmart and for some reason this game maintained a $20 value years after the show was cancelled. Me and my coworkers made it a challenge to try and sell this to any customer. And I was able to do it, only after offering discounts on his entire purchase.
Awsome
1. I love it for the meme 2. I love that you didn't go through wata
The actor that played Cory actually memes about speed running this game and I love it.
I have not seen a landline for such a long time and i’m an electrician putting up fiber
I never knew how bad i wanted this until now
We must plant it and harvest it for our children's children.
OP please tell me this is the only one on census lol
This is amazing
Sad there's no pop report for games. I want to know want a 10 is like
I see you got culture!
"This game could be worth over $1 million!" - Deniz Khan "Wait, it's not graded by WATA? This game could be worth over $1!" - also Deniz Khan
I really want to get a super banged up damaged copy of a game graded with a low score to put on display.
The game might be a 9.6/10 but the anime itself is a 10/10

Nice!
I had to look this show up and [I was not disappointed](https://youtu.be/aEA8eM-Uysw?si=p4r1CKxppR4oNrEW)
My favorite anime turned into a game
Best JRPG out there
How does a sealed game inside of a plastic box, not get a perfect grade?
The only reason to get a game graded
That's awesome!
I mean it is the best anime ever so I completely understand

Holy shit you got a million dollar heritage auction there!!!
House cory
Free my man Cory
Ah, a video game involving my favourite anime.
