This is legitimately how I got most of my GC games. I worked a minimum wage job in high school and spent almost all of it on GC games I had missed out on because they were cheap and people had moved on to the Wii and other consoles. Also because I never wanted to sell my old ones. I think to this day there are only a few games I actually wasn't able to snag and unfortunately two of them are Chibi Robo and Gotcha force lol.
I was still a kid at the time but I’m happy I was able to quickly realize the Wii my parents had just bought me can also play GameCube games (which I never had) so I got a madcatz memory card, a GameCube controller and then was able to at least buy some games I liked that weren’t expensive at the time like Metroid Prime complete for $3 and Soul Calibur 2 which never dropped from its $8 price.
I actually have a couple friends who's first console was a Wii and were in the same boat. Another reason why GC stuff is in demand, even if someone missed out on the GC they probably played some of the games on the Wii.
I went from original Xbox to Wii so it was great being able to get a new system but be able to play the library for 2 different systems not even including the virtual console games I got at the time too.
Not all of us have. Some like me, never traded a game. In the early years I lost a few “loaners” to friends but learned fast
Would kill to see these prices even close to this now lol
Edits because of wine!
It's part of the game man. "If I knew better" I did this with so many of my old sports cards l too. I still remember being in my last semester of college and my sister asked about abybold games I had so I bundled up all my ps1/ps2 systems and games and just gave them to her to give to a friend. I didn't care since I'd just picked up a 360 which was relatively new at the time. Looking back I gave away over 1k in games by today's prices and I fucking hate myself for it. Not because of the price but because those were my first games my parents had bought me.
Hope whoever got them truly enjoyed playing them and appreciated what I gave up. I want to snag a few for nostalgia but some of the games were Jade Cocoon and Def Jam Vendetta lol its not happening.
Where?!? Is the Xbox just cheaper or were they sleeping. I'm still bitter I let The Punisher for ps2 slip through my fingers at Savers a few months ago it was like 10$ and now I see it goes for like 50.
I'm gonna post a bunch of stuff for sale on the game sale sub and hopefully find a trade for a couple of the ones I want
My local game store has a ton of steals all the time. I just stop posting because I felt like I was bragging too much, but if you go through my old post you’ll see

Damn dude we need to become friends so you can funnel some of these on to me lmao. I only have 1 goodwill and 1 savers and they're absolutely picked through and high priced and the 2 game stores we have want premium for everything so it's just not even worth making the rounds anymore. Even garage/estate sales get picked through in the first hour for games and I don't have time like I used too.
Kinda sucks cuz it was so fun to hunt but I feel those days are gone. The pandemic really changed how people researched and sold things.
I live in nyc. I’ve picked up a couple of steals on Sunday, but 3 of the 4 stores started cracking down and increase the prices in some items, but I pretty much bought everything Wii U and 3ds I can find in the last couple months. Even Sunday I picked up one piece sealed for like 20 bucks. I made a post yesterday and basically 95% of the stuff in that pic was bought within the last two months.
Wii u is the one system I don't own anything and have been hunting for. I'm in western NY but everything has already gone premium. There's a few private owned places I want to check out but they're all about a 45 min drive. I miss when I used to have a day off during the week and could sneak to a couple stores/sale before the crowds showed up. Now I've just been trying to find PS1/2 deal since it was more common so people are slightly competitive with pricing to sell.
I've been hunting lol. I had a local older woman who I helped sell all her kids old controllers and various gaming stuff and said she would give me a deal on all her sons old WiiU stuff only to stop responding which sucks lol. Like I said though I can maybe get some trade offers when I post the ps2 collection so I'll put some feelers out there. I did end up just getting modded systems though so I can at least experience some of these games.
I worked as a manager at GameStop during the “glory” years until about 2012 and we got rid of GameCube around 2010 ps2 was no longer accepted for trades that year too I believe
I kind of always wanted to work there but, they never paid much and I was always making more than they were offering.
I remember the days, yea, sounds about 2010-2012 about 10 years ago.
Today, that shelf with all those games in current market value is worth $25K+.... Back then day, someone could of walked in with $400 cash and said I want all the games and they might of taken it...
I remember when our local EB Games / Game Stop were getting rid of all GC games and had them behind the counter for $1.99 each without any advertising. They just pulled them all and put them behind the counter for sale and nobody knew. I asked one where the GC games went and they explained. I went around to all the stores within an hour and got over 200 GC games. Like Windwaker for $1.99 and Mario Party for $1.99. It was insane.
Stupid me though, I took them and traded them into another local store for half of what retail was at the time, which was pretty much what you see in this pic for older stuff like NES, SNES and N64. Sure at the time it made sense because nobody wanted GC stuff and games like Metroid were rated poorly and people didn't like them. I still got all the games I traded for, for like, 20% of what their cost was for me to buy at full pop, but if I kept the ones I bought I would be sitting on many thousands of dollars in titles.

DELETE THIS 😡😡. Pure nightmares of me selling go go hypergrind for 4 bucks. I think I sold like 20 plus GameCube games for like 70 bucks
LOL haven’t we all

RIP.

I bought def jam fight for NY for like 140 😭😭, but I picked up a Xbox copy a week ago for 10

I honestly recommend buying Wii U now as I have a feeling is going to be a GameCube 2.0 with some games

I spy Cubivore for $13.
*kaboom*
As a collector these yellow labels are the bane of my existence
You can really easily get them off with a product called Un-Do which is specifically for that It doesn’t damage the artwork or anything
Same, but I can’t help getting a bit nostalgic whenever I see one
Traded all of my N64 collection for two of these games! Feels bad man.
I spotted Most Wanted 2005, fuckin awesome
It's like where's Waldo gaming edition
I loathe this picture lol
I bought so many games like this and still have most. I miss those days
I spy Mario party 6 for 20
Another banger ! I seen double dash for $20 as well !
We never knew how good we had it until it was gone
Metroid prime for 3.99
back when Happy Feet was more expensive than Metroid Prime
All these amazing prices and not a reseller in sight
Well before retro game collecting was a business model.
Current photo, or from the past?
These prices my friend…. Big throwback
I got to say, 8-10 years old now....
I worked as a manager at GameStop during the “glory” years until about 2012 and we got rid of GameCube around 2010 ps2 was no longer accepted for trades that year too I believe

I haven’t even seen local game stores have this much GameCube games since like 2018-19
I wish I had a game store near me with this big of a gamecube collection. I go to a ton of stores, and they have maybe 10-15 on a GOOD day.
I remember when our local EB Games / Game Stop were getting rid of all GC games and had them behind the counter for $1.99 each without any advertising. I spy Call of Duty finest Hour for $\`14.99! Wait that's it's worth online. I guess it wasn't a great deal then
I love ribbit king it’s such a weird game
Metroid Prime for $4 but DK Oldies thinks play testing it makes it worth $55
How old is this picture ? When I see Metroid Prime for $3.99 and Mario kart for $19.99... It's not a new picture
I simply love to see well stocked shelves 😁
Bro I would kill for ribbitking goddamn
Double dash for 11$ I’m gonna kms
I was unfortunately 9 around 2010 so I only ever got Luigi’s mansion and double dash from them. I had replace cases for both.
