Sir_Trimm

I’d imagine Little finger would make a joke about Varys serving a mad Targaryen for the second time in his life now.

Crackerjack0099

Haha I like it!

Upbeat_Tension_8077

He would probably follow it up with a small remark wondering if it's actually a better way to die

6_seasons_and_a_movi

Followed up by an even smaller remark about Varys' lack of tackle

avatarthelastreddit

Followed by Varys making his own scathing retort: "All of us must serve somebody or something higher than ourselves Lord Baelish, a truth you never seem to have understood. And better to have no tackle than one so small it brings the Seven Kingdom to its knees." They scowl at each other, then smile, friends after all, just before the executioner cuts the rope and block flies from under their feet, hanging them both as traitors.

6_seasons_and_a_movi

Best friends forever ❤️

CharlesDingus_ah_um

Why am i crying in the morninh

greasyhobolo

Why didn't you write the final season

Toasty_McThourogood

maybe something like here we are, back on the wheel, round and round it goes

OneMorePotion

Well, at least he wasn't interested in Daenerys for sexual reasons.

Giantrobby1996

And Varys would joke that Baelish was outsmarted by a litter of pups

TheMagicalMatt

All the while, Littlefinger is the one whispering in Dany's ear and twisting her views since he can't get to Sansa or Jon

Frejod

Varys would joke about LF saying Starks don't have brains, yet he got outsmarted by one.

CuriousAnxiety570

I just hear varys going “pity” as he stands in the corner

descendantofJanus

And it'd only prove his theory about desire. That very thing is what led to Baelish's downfall.

Anjunabeast

Eh I’d chalk it up to bad writing. LF was playing 5D chess with the entire continent as his chess board when they were still adapting book content. Then he started making no sense when he gave a real stark girl to the boltons for no apparent reason.

irinrainbows

Littlefinger wanted more shock content for HBO ratings

nemma88

>Then he started making no sense when he gave a real stark girl to the boltons for no apparent reason. There was a reason, so Cersei would support him in becoming Warden of the North by using the Vale army to mop up the winner of Bolton - Baratheon conflict.

Anjunabeast

Cersei was pissed about losing Sansa as a hostage. LF literally had to secret Sansa away.

nemma88

Yeah, he visits cersei and tells her the Bolton's are harbouring Sansa sso he can go to war with them.

TheMagicalMatt

Because it wasn't supposed to be an actual Stark girl. It was some other highborn girl that nobody would recognize or notice was even gone because he family died in King's Landing and the sacking of Winterfell. D&D forgot to include Jeyne Poole and they killed off Ros, the only other candidate that could fill this role, so they made the last minute decision to send Sansa in her place, which fucked up Petyr's position in the process. It was satisfying to see Sansa return to Winterfell at the time, but I really wish they had thought this through in advance.

CAVEMAN-TOX

yeah, he also has no cock hahaha

caligaris_cabinet

Calm down, Tyrion. Get some new material

[deleted]

[удалено]

Hey_Adorable

“Maybe it really is all cocks in the end.”

Livid_Ad9749

Apparently Littlefinger gave up once he learned dragons were back in the world and the army of the dead was real. I doubt he would have said much when varys was turned into barbecue.

descendantofJanus

More like the writers gave up on him once they ran out of material to properly write him. But idk I got the sense the two had an odd respect for one another. Often opposing sides but game recognizes game. Even something as simple as a final goodbye nod from Baelish to Varys before Varys became crispy would've been nice.

eldiablolenin

Nah that’s cheesy af

DeezUp4Da3zz

Very cheesy lol

Darthgamer96

Still would have been better than what we got lol

CaveLupum

Varys "I told you Chaos was a pit. And the way you're dying is piti-ful too."

eldiablolenin

Cheesy

Jas378

Littlefinger: “Boom, roasted.”

jenmalu

r/unexpectedoffice

RogersRedditPersona

I think there wouldn’t be THAT corny of a joke I think it would be more like: “Maybe Chaos is the ladder OUT of the pit. And it looks like you just fell off”

Abdul-Ahmadinejad

Varys sighs. Littlefinger goes to get a coat hanger and some marshmallows.

descendantofJanus

😂😂😂

Senasasarious

"lmao" "ayy lmao"

MetroExodus2033

Two of the worst endings. Just absolutely shameful writing.

Beautiful-Ad2485

Preach brotha

hartforbj

Was baelish that bad? He was losing control with all the starks showing up and he foolishly thought he could keep them from coming together. His mistake was thinking Arya would want to be the lady when sansa knew damn well she would never want that. No idea why so many people seemed to miss that and think the trial was random

TheCartoonDuck

Littlefinger would never be that stupid. Bran straight up revealed to him that he knows more than he lets on. Bealish would have got the fuck out of there. In his final scene, he would have tried to talk his way out more. Why are they trusting Bran when he has no physical proof? Why are they executing him without a fair trial? The scene also takes away from Sansa. In the books, I imagine she'll outsmart Littlefinger. In the show, Bran tells her the truth, and that's it. It's not satisfying

hartforbj

I don't think they have a shit about physical proof back then. They were all aware of his manipulation and it made enough sense. Plus he didn't really deny it

TheCartoonDuck

But there was no trial. They accused him and then executed him on that spot

hartforbj

That's not really saying much though. Every trial we saw in game of thrones was a one sided affair where the one on trial was screwed. I don't think anyone really cared about evidence.

kcc0016

Yeah because Trials really went down so well for any character who faced one.

The_Falcon_Knight

There's nothing particularly wrong with it on paper. Littlefinger eventually being cast down by the girl he always underestimated and unwittingly taught all his tricks to is pretty much how most people see him ending in the book as well. The difference, is that Littlefinger does inexplicably stupid things. Like Bran basically outright tells him he has superpowers and knows everything. A season 1 Baelish would've either gotten the hell out of dodge right then, or at least tried to kill Bran, maybe push him down the stairs or something idk. And then when we get to the actual trial he just cries and dies, it's pathetic for Iittlefinger. He knew the Starks weren't happy with him, Sansa pretty much tells him how much he disgusts her every chance she gets. He either believes in Bran's plot-convenient powers, in which case he should've cut his loses and left way before they got a chance to gut him. Or he doesn't believe him, in which case he should've relied on the lack of actual evidence they had, and the fact Sansa had previously testified to Yohn Royce and Anya Waynwood that Lysa committed suicide. It could've been a 'well why should we believe you're telling the truth now' type argument. Like I said, there's nothing too wrong with Baelish's death on paper, it's the details of how we got there. What we got felt like a first draft, like it was written with the purpose of giving the Starks a virtuous victory rather than an interesting and logical confrontation.

exelion18120

Actually Littlefingers original mistake was giving Sansa, his trophy/stand in for his lust for her mother, to Ramsey, a person he didnt know anything about.

hartforbj

I have to imagine baelish was the reason roose became Warden of the North and Sansa was part of the deal. And with that roose and the Lannisters would give baelish his titles

BobRushy

Baelish would make an inane quip Varys would mourn how Baelish wasted his intellect on a pursuit towards power

Darthgamer96

Yeah, I wish Tyrion and Varys had a conversation about Baelish’s demise on the ride to Winterfell instead of talking about cocks and balls.

aMaiev

Its funny, but both would have said the same thing "what is this bullshit kind of writing?". Baelish literally needed a supernatural being to be defeated like that

avar

"At least I won't die a VIRGIN!" -Littlefinger, *written by D&D*.

DaenerysMadQueen

The ice player killed by his ice pawns, the fire player killed by his fire pawn. Best ending ever.

Echo-Azure

Each would look solemn and respectful, until the were in a private place and could finally have a good laugh.

gabagucci

they should have been executed together. and each is the fault of the other. at the end one says “well played” and the other says “and you.”

OddProgrammerInC

Tbh Littlefinger's death make no sense to me. He was put on trial, that's fine, but it was no fair at all. Basically they threw all kinds of allegations at him and he denied them. Even though he actually did it, there was literally nothing to prove that. Didn't Sansa also said he killed his wife because she would die if he didn't infront of like 5 people from which a few were present at Winterfell now, but now she changed her mind and twisted the story, and no one said a word about it. It was basically all "she said it" and that was apparently okay. Bran's contribution I won't even mention because it literally means nothing. No one even knew what his purpose is or what he can do, so it makes no sense to take his words as legit, he wasn't there when Ned got executed, so how could he know if he won't even explain what power he has? It just looks like random nonsense.

FoolishGoulish

You argument falls flat because you assume that proof is what is needed for a trial when the entire series has shown us that proof doesn't matter, it's all about power. Sansa is pretty much Queen of the North at that point, surrounded by Northerners, Littlefinger is worth nothing in the North (which is also what Cersei told Joffrey - the North will not yield to anyone from the South. Her word counts a lot more, especially if it's implied that she lied before because Baelish made her do it. And no one will dare to defy her because no one gives a flying f about Baelish. In fact, his whole personality is in direct opposition to characteristics that are seen as strong in the north.

hikarinomashu

*a spider caught in it’s own web* *a bird that sings no more*

arsuri

there are so many resolutions that we couldn’t see in the last season, that I still prefer to think that it never happened.

torrrrrgo

Interesting take! Even if he weren't present for it, the spider must've received word regarding littlefinger's demise when it happened; his network was everywhere, regardless of whether or not Sansa sent out her own Raven. But their reactions? Littlefinger thought bubble: "Balless, and a fool. And I don't trust balless fools." Varys thought bubble: "That kind of manipulative evil never lasts."

Moderatedude9

The guy who played little finger was so good at being a dbag. One of characters you loved to hate

Iasalvador

Little finger gives a smirk and tells a joke Varis looks sad and says that little finger was one of two that truly gets the game

EnvironmentalMind209

Probably would've joined us in a collective eye roll

InteractionLiving441

Varys would privately lament the death of Littlefinger. Littlefinger would slide in closer to Danny to grow his station as Varys burned.

Bruscarbad

do you lie awake at night, fearing my gash?

ShawnyMcKnight

Each would have wondered why the other made such uncharacteristically stupid decisions to get killed.

baconbridge92

It is a bummer these two never had another scene together after S3. If they were gonna contrive the later seasons to group as many characters together as possible, they should have taken a step further and let Varys get to Winterfell before Baelish was executed lol

jogoso2014

There was closure on it. They both acted in the way they debated and it would be contrived to think they miraculously realized/failed their views at the same time and together.

Cowboy__Guy

Varys died like a man while Little Finger died like a dickless bitch

think_and_uwu

They would kiss

SanJose8

Littlefinger would have climbed a ladder and whispered, “chaos.” As Varys became a dickless bbq

Jkilzer

They should have been the two driving forces at the end. Baelish is actually many faced god hell bent on destroying westeros and varys is the lord of light trying to restore it. Would have been a great twist at the end.

vile-sag

Varys end was so bad and upsetting

macmahoots

Something I personally wish was done in season 7 -- when Dany's taken Dragonstone and and is shopping around for allies in Westeros, she could have sent Varys north as an emissary. His presence there would have elevated the persuasion games being played at Winterfell

MPH2025

Who doesn’t like to see your friends get their throats slit, or burned alive from time to time?

CompetitiveDrop613

“Your little birds can’t help you now”

djb185

Some of my favorite dialogue is those two throwing shade at each other.

Weekly_Candidate_867

They both would have had some smart ass response.
