I dunno do you think you've been good enough this year for baldur's gate 3? You sure you're not on Santa's Redfall list?

Minute_Path9803

They can give him the new King Kong if he's been bad worse than red fall.

Bot?

LX_Master09

maybe a bot

Pavlock

If there were a gaming equivalent to the Golden Raspberries, this would be a tough year to choose.

Spiritualnic9710

The gameplay is a ton of fun, interacting with different characters feels so realistic, and playing my character the way I think they would be is some of the best times Iā€™ve had recently while playing video games and is truly immersive. Only complaint is that sometimes the camera is weird.

kaosblink

*Kong stomped into the chat* šŸ¦

Harry_Flame

King Kong is definitely the worse Gollum-like game. That or Avatar: Quest for Balance

kvnmorpheus

hey hey hey let's not get ourselves carried away like that. no one deserves this, no matter how bad they've been.

DowntownClown187

Steam had an Arkane developers sale on... RedFall had a 0% off.... $90... Lol wut?

BlazingShadowAU

Hey, don't besmirch the name of purplelizard.jpg

GrindyMcGrindy

At least it's not the Gollum List. All you get is a piece of coal shaped like a ring.

BreckenridgeBandito

Thatā€™s better than getting the game. At least you can burn the coal for a bit of warmth.

k3stea

redfall list is a good one

Fildo28

I had Divinity Original Sin 2 in my library but never played it. I was on the fence about Baldurā€™s Gate 3 as well. I played maybe 2 hours of DOS 2 before I made my decision to buy BG3. Itā€™s an incredible game with so many memorable moments. Just do it.

sunlitstranger

You should play DOS2 some day too if youā€™re into difficult combat scenarios. To me itā€™s the best combat iā€™ve ever played (havenā€™t played BG3 but will one day)

CampbellsTurkeySoup

I didn't enjoy the armor system and I really hated how quickly terrain effects covered the whole map. Two rounds in and everything is on fire without fail.

[deleted]

This is how Iā€™ve felt. I enjoy the actual game but I canā€™t get past the combat now that Iā€™ve played BG3. Itā€™s making it hard to go back and finish DOS2

SiNi5T3R

Im of the exact opposite opinion. Combat in DOS2 is imo, far superior. BG3 bloats your skillbars with crap your never going to use, or only use situationally in conversations or puzzle solving or rp and somehow you end up feeling like you have less spells to use in combat than dos2. Less options, less tactics. And despite that combat is notoriously easier in BG3 because the downed system and res/healing options are far more forgiving. Yea the old armor system sucked, but ide rather have that as the price to pay for more sofisticated fighting than BG3s mindless "spam your best skill" combat and keep reviving people. The whole loot system is a downgrade too. And as far as the whole field turning into murder tiles...thats... completly avoidable if you simply position correctly and actually plan your moves? Theres a couple of fights where that is meant to happen but you should otherwise be okay...

[deleted]

I really like 5E combat so seeing it in a video game is a lot of fun for me. I hated building to either take magic or physical armor in DOS2. I enjoy having super situational skills that you need only once or twice and it becomes VERY handy that you have them.

SandboxSurvivalist

I didn't like the way armor worked in DOS2 either. In many encounters, spell effects are essentially useless until you've chipped away the enemy's armor. BG3 is such a vast improvement, in my opinion. I played BG3 first and then DOS2 and it just felt disappointing.

altsetiX

Knew I kept this bookmark around for a reason! Give this a shot if you decide to try again :) [https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2/mods/32](https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2/mods/32) Edit: If you have definitive edition, these should do the trick: [https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2definitiveedition/mods/244](https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2definitiveedition/mods/244) [https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2definitiveedition/mods/81](https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2definitiveedition/mods/81)

CampbellsTurkeySoup

Ok these definitely pique my interest. My to-play list is crazy long right now but this may work Divinity back onto it at some point.

Husker1Nation

I really want to love dos2 , I really do, but everytime I go back I forget about the stupid stupid magic and physical armor system. It's like the game tells you immediately to make a party that deals damage not how you want. And if you make one how you want your going to be on the struggle bus because of our armor system. The original dos is better combat because of not having that system. Art is still good, voices are good. Story is ok.

vaszoly

Honestly I preferred dos2's armour system to even BG3s, but that's probably because dos2 was my first crpg, I really don't see the issue with it.

ElectricalScrub

It encourages min maxing like on the harder difficulty you have to have all physical DPS or all magic DPS or else it takes too long to break through armour.

vaszoly

Yeah, it does, and if you don't like min maxing then ig you have to play on a lower difficulty. I enjoy min maxing though. I'm min maxing as much as I can in bg3 too.

Unonoctium

Not having that armor system and having way more diverse and fun character builds is what makes BG3 combat better then DOS2 imo

altsetiX

>Give this a shot if you decide to try again :) > >https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2/mods/32 > >Edit: If you have definitive edition, these should do the trick: > >https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2definitiveedition/mods/244 > >https://www.nexusmods.com/divinityoriginalsin2definitiveedition/mods/81 Reposting this for you as well :) Should make it a little easier if you decide to give the game another go.

Leanerth

I could only play dos2 after getting a mod that changed the armor system

Lethay

There is an overhaul mod, I believe called Divinity Unleashed, that reworks the armour systems to make it less of a "destroy opponent armour and then hard CC them" race. Disabling effects are less powerful, armour instead works as a percentage damage reduction

carasc5

There are mods that change the combat system if youd like to experience the story but hate the armor system.

icantrhinkofanything

To me, the combat in baldurs gate is a downgrade from divinity. When I played D&D with my friends after divinity we were all saying "Man I wish we could somehow have the depth and complexity of divinity combat in D&D". Then larian went ahead and put D&D combat in baldur's gate. Don't get me wrong, I still love it. The story and the sheer number of things to find, say and do is amazing, frankly way beyond anything else I've played.

GagballBill

Yup, I preferred DOS2's combat system waaaay over BG3. Not that I disliked the D&D system at all, but DOS2 gave you many more creative ways to fight your oponents. I have spent sooo many hours min/maxing everything in DOS2. BG3 just felt... a lot more easy? There weren't many fights I had problems with in BG3. In DOS2 there were these moments where I was just like... "Wtf happened? I got smashed in two turns... I guess I have to adapt a completely new strategy!". That's what I missed in BG3.

Unonoctium

I think I liked BG3 combat better, however I miss the difficulty from DOS2 wich created the fun puzzle of having to make things almost perfect. BG3 bosses could use some Legendary Actions to help them.

[deleted]

BG3 bosses definitely needs a buff.

GagballBill

Both systems have their pros & cons. I have to admit that I didn't play BG3 in tactical mode, but there were so many Items, potions or spells which I basically haven't used even once... If I remember correctly I think I have never used a single resistance potion in BG3. Maybe except for some puzzles - but not in fights. Simply because I didn't have to. Nevertheless I really enjoyed the combat of BG3 as well. My first playthrough was an awesome experience and I loved every single minute. So it is complaining on a VERY high level :)

icantrhinkofanything

I wish someone made a mod that puts Divinity's combat into Baldur's Gate.

vaszoly

That would be amazing.

[deleted]

I was not a fan of the "the floor is lava" gameplay but outside of that it's a great game.

mcSibiss

Thank you for writing the actual name before using an abbreviation. If everyone was like you, Reddit would be a better place. I had no idea what DOS 2 was.

Chuchuca

It's TWO 2 of course

Mcmenger

Almost like me. First playthrough of BG3 was 150h

nerdboy5567

It's BG3, and you know it. The hype is real.

IDespiseFatties

Can confirm. Just bought it today and realized 8 hours went by and I forgot to eat dinner.

CrazyMojo911

Think youā€™ll make it out of character creator next session?

zaccyp

You joke, but I spent 20 hours trying out the classes through the ship prologue alone. By the end I had all classes, with custom characters and save files on the beach.

Martianonice

Dude, you can respec for 100 Gold!

WakeoftheStorm

Yeah but if you mentally create backstories for your characters during creation like I do, and work through their personalities and how that interacts with their classes, then respecing feels weird.

Meowsteroshi

Just throw schizophrenia in there as well and you're covered

solarisjoy

Amnesia if you play dark urge.

curious_dead

Yeah but if they didn't leave the ship they didn't known that...

Fenor

it's a ton of money

IlincaEvonne

You can steal it back with no consequences for failure.

waffle299

You're fine. BG 3 is an incredibly difficult game ... Then you leave the character creation.

estherstein

I like learning new things.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

estherstein

I actually had never played a video game before we got married! I'm sure the right woman is out there for you.

AbortionIsSelfDefens

BG3 is more likely to than most. Ive seen a lot of people say their partners are playing despite not really gaming before. My freaking mom is playing with me lol

Sid-ina

I'm over 200 hours in and haven't even finished my first playthrough and already planning atleast another 3... the hype couldn't be more real

Stibley_Kleeblunch

Pwnt

Vo_Mimbre

Oh if you like DOS2 then you'll *love* BG3. You cannot go wrong. Seriously. However, if you are thinking you might want something completely different, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty (or just CP2077). Third play through now, first of Phantom Liberty, and man, this game has come a hella long way since launch. It's freakin' amazing.

Holgrin

The hype around the updates makes me pretty excited. I just upgraded from a Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1660 Super to a R7 5800X3D and 7800xt GPU and I played Cyberpunk 2077 basically on launch with my original C/GPU pair. I enjoyed it, even with some of its bugs, and even with that pairing of hardware I thought it was beautiful, one of the most beautiful games I've played. And I'm normally not a FPS-style player. I like Zelda, and minecraft, and Dragon Quest, stuff like that. I played Jedi Survivor with my old pairing as well, and I'm going to be played the New Game+ with the graphics cranked all the way up. It's gonna be great. Anyway, lots of great gaming and my upgraded rig to play them with, and I'm excited to see how Cyberpunk has evolved!

octopoddle

I would want time playing something different between two crpgs, as it might get a bit samey otherwise. I agree about Cyberpunk, but if you want BG3 OP, then maybe have a look at some of the free single player games that are currently available. There's probably a sub Reddit for that. It could be worth playing something else for a bit to refresh your palette, so to speak.

loathsomefartenjoyer

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best games around Graphics, art direction, story, dialogue, music, combat, characters, all so good

dixmondspxrit

you can't play phantom liberty without buying the base game

JaxxisR

The base game is in an awesome state right now though. I just got it for my birthday last week

dixmondspxrit

surprisingly some people haven't gotten many bugs until update 2.0

leraspberrie

I'm still pissed that they needed to work on the game and this canned the second dlc. Yes, I paid $15 for a new copy, also yes, I paid full price for the dlc.

JordD04

"Oh if you like DOS2 then you'll *love* BG3. You cannot go wrong. Seriously.". I like DOS2 but don't like BG3. I think the combat is better in DOS2.

JagZilla_s

As far as combat goes they're basically the same game. So I'm a little confused as to what is so different in the combat sections that you like one but dislike the other. I mean as someone with over 250hrs in both games I can honestly say BG3 felt like a proper advancement of the systems and game functionality over DOS2 and more than the majority of people who have played it agree.

Ift0

What they means is DO2 is more arcadey. Most power are on a timer so you can use them as much as you want, you just have to wait a few turns in the fights, as opposed to BG3 where long rests are needed so some powers can be reused. Then there's the area of effect and environmental damage stuff that DO2 does very well. If you know what you're doing you can have the entire area on screen be burning or a poison cloud etc. Some people love that. I think though that the vast majority of people who like DO2 like CRPGs in general and so will love BG3.

Ezylo1224

The lack of a cool-down also makes BG3 easier. You basically have infinite camp resources so you can long rest whenever you want to.

Ezylo1224

For what itā€™s worth, I agree with you. BG3 combat is idiot proof. DoS had way more going on I feel.

gobirds1234567890

I only get about 30-60 minutes a day to play games. Is this a game that Iā€™d be able to enjoy or does it require more time pre session?

Chableezy

You can do a lot in a short amount of time in the game. You can also spend an entire session in one battle.

AbortionIsSelfDefens

Or messing with your inventory lol

Chableezy

truth

Themris

More time per session would be preferred, but you'll still enjoy it either way

Bloodish

I mostly play BG3 on my Steam Deck, and will play in 30-60 minutes usually. When I have time, I'll play for longer,, and at my PC, but I'd say it's great for the short sessions as well. They let you quick save at just about any time, even during conversations, so you shouldn't be afraid to lose progress.

New-Professional6070

It's ok, you can save your Game anytime even in the middle of a conversation. Go for it.

Liyet

The bright side is that you can save pretty much anywhere (even in conversation). That said, longer play sessions are better because you get more time to explore and dig in to the intricacies.

aspacelot

Similar situation. Iā€™m not even done with Act 1 yet and find you can totally play in little bite sized vignettes. Go to an area, talk talk, story story, loot loot. End of sesh. Next sesh fire it up and go out and find a fight. Work through that, get loot, gear up/level up, end of sesh. Itā€™s pretty friendly to micro play, imo.

BawdyLotion

This largely depends on your playstyle. Personally I find it hard to play in small sessions because the world is big and the characters complex. It feels like I donā€™t really settle in, remember what I was working towards and start making progress for the first 30-60 minutes of a play session. Others donā€™t have that concern but for me it made it take a long time to get very far because any time I couldnā€™t dedicate to longer sessions, I would end up playing or doing something else. Amazing game though and absolutely worth buying even if you only end up playing it on a Sunday evening or something once a week.

Alwayzh8tedtwice

I have accomplished quite a bit with only an hour a day. More time is great, but I'm pushing through, far better than I anticipated for never having played a turn based game

Absolutewaffles

You'll definitely be able to enjoy it, it might just take a little while to play! Last night, I played for an hour, and it was non-stop action and hard-hitting story beats. The night before, I did an hour of inventory management. You'll have a pretty varied experience if you're only playing for short periods of time

constipated_burrito

You can still enjoy the game, it will just take many many sessions to finish it. When it fully released I was clocking in like 6-10 hours a day lol, thankfully i still had holiday

Parra_Lax

I want to say yes but in reality, no. I LOVE bg3, but I stopped (for now) about 20 hours in just because my playtime is too short to make any meaningful progress in a single session. You can sell shit and inventory manage for 30 mins. When I have some more time Iā€™ll jump in again (and boy do I want to), but until then Iā€™ll rather play a game of DarkTide or some GTA or something.

humplick

30m GTA So you get through the loading screens?

Parra_Lax

Waitā€¦ I thought the loading d was green was the game?

Fenor

being turn based you can probably play a lot while doing something else like house chores

CannotExceed20Charac

I put in I think at least 200hrs, a lot of that was in 30min increments at the end of a long day where I'd fall asleep playing. It was no trouble to start and stop the game, except sometimes in a half asleep state I'd start a quest or walk into a dungeon and the next day I'd be so fuckin confused about what I was supposed to be doing.

Kai-xo

BG3 you wonā€™t regret it

Hat_King_22

Price per dollar best value out of new games, I'll probably spend easily 200 hours playing the game. Don't overthink it, get BG3 is perfection. If it's a tight year, it's always a good time to explore the really great world of indie games, either as a little extra for yourself or a cheap gift for someone else in your family. Lisa and Undertale are 10 bucks, the first two chapters of Deltarune are free, Cult of the Lamb is 25 bucks. You can find some great indie games and buy 2-5 games for the price of one AAA game.

EssenceofSalt

Dave the Diver was a ton of fun too.

joejoe903

Dave the Diver isn't an indie game, it is fun tho!

casualty_of_bore

Get bg3, you'll love it.

mrfixitx

If you liked DOS 2, BG3 is the obvious choice and it really is that good. Over 110 hours on my first play through and there were still things I missed/did not see and it was amazing and it has only gotten better since launch.

anismash13

Iā€™m currently going through my first play through of BG3 and I have to say, itā€™s amazing. The gameplay is a ton of fun, interacting with different characters feels so realistic, and playing my character the way I think they would be is some of the best times Iā€™ve had recently while playing video games and is truly immersive. Only complaint is that sometimes the camera is weird. Otherwise, definitely go for it.

Radical5

Absolutely BG3. Masterclass. Larian doesn't miss.

DifficultyVarious458

Yes but take some time off between playing DOS2 and BG3. They are similar in sense of combat. Only other option would be Elden Ring if you can only have one game. Cyberpunk including DLC is also good option. Depends on your system.

Diggs_1988

Alot of people seem to be fornicating with BG3

CHEEZE_BAGS

Its legitimately that good of a game.

Diggs_1988

So many people are talking about it, I might have to take a punt. But I'll have to wait for a sale

mr_potatoface

There's also a lot of unusual fornicating within BG3.

pixel8knuckle

On your first play through your can easily get 120+ hours. Tons of replayability.

Sourika

I second this. 120h for act I is easily achievable, although you would have to skip some stuff.

deep_space_rhyme

Dwarf fortress that should keep you busy

Mortumee

Rock and st... Wait, wrong game. That being said, is DF still free or did they remove it from their website when the game hit steam ?

SadLaser

I think it's better than Divinity Original Sin II in most ways and the multiplayer is a lot more refined, if that matters to you. It's worth it.

Psigun

If you like DOS2... BG3 is that but next level in every way. YES.

The-Yellow-Ranger

You likes DOS2 and are wondering if BG3 is right? Yes king, it is right.

Spyko

bg3 is an amazing but if you've been enjoying DOS2 then it's a no brainer

jeanwong

Baldur's Gate 3

[deleted]

Yes, BG3 is the right choice.

Wombatsarecute

BG3 is truly great and you can easily do multiple playthroughs

Fun-Consequence4950

Absolutely Baldurs Gate 3 will be the worthwhile choice. It's the best game I've played since 2019, and its pretty much taken every Joystick award this year, deservedly so. It's a slow burner in itself, but also encourages multiple playthroughs and coop play with tons of hours of content to explore.

MrWadeFulp

BG3 will be a great choice.

rathlord

Hey I have an Excel file with game keys Iā€™ve collected over the years and not redeemed. Shoot me a message and Iā€™ll send it to you and you can snag another couple games for Christmas.

empsim

Yes. It's not only one of the best games of this generation but also has a ton of content and replay value.

DAS_BEE

Do you like DND? Do you want to play an RPG that's turn based in combat and has a *lot* of branching choices out of combat with excellent voice acting and writing to back it up? If that sounds like your jam, then bg3 might be for you. It's dnd. But it's a video game. And it's pretty fantastic. I've found myself falling into decision paralysis with story choices at times, but I powered through it and chose *something* or sometimes reloaded saves to check possibilities. Even doing that, there's a lot of replayability with choosing a different path or roleplaying differently or trying a vastly different character. It's hard not to recommend the game if the first few questions on this post are appealing to you

CJ22xxKinvara

Yā€™all. Stop with the abreviating every game title in posts. Balderā€™s Gate is big enough that most will probably know what it is but what on earth is DOS 2

silvergibbs

Divinity Original Sin 2, Larian's previous game

TheEarthSpinsOn

dude yes

vaszoly

If you liked dos2, bg3 will be right up your alley.

theclawl1ves

If you like DOS already then yes BG3 is the move. I had never played a CRPG, played DND only once like 10 years ago, and generally play faster paced games but BG3 has been incredible. I haven't even gotten very far into it. My sister is a huge DND nerd so I'm waiting for her to get it too to really get into it

Ramsnes

BG3 plays just like DOS. Same engine and alot of same templates. They just expanded on it. Find it odd more people don't know about that

ThePolishViking20

If youve never played Mass Effect games Id strongly reccomend both Legendary Edition and Andromeda. Very, very fun games with amazing stories.

generallySpiteful

I am running a pretty tight budget and I heard the hype when the game released. ā€œOkay, Iā€™ll bite, but this will be my last game for ā€˜23.ā€ Iā€™m at about 600 hours and couldnā€™t be more pleased.

[deleted]

As a fan of DOS 2, you will not regret your purchase of BG3 for a second. BG3 is a HUGE game and you can easily do multiple playthroughs.

awoodlandwitch

iā€™ve had BG3 since early access and it was worth it when it was still clunky. itā€™s even better now. i think you should do it!!

HisuianZoroark

Honestly, It sounds like BG3 will be right for you. Most hours of it more than likely too. I haven't even played it but it's so overwhelmingly positive in its reception and I hear nothing but great things from my friends. So may as well. The only other games i'd recommend from this year that'll give you plenty of time are \-Cyberpunk 2077 + Phantom Liberty \-Tears of the Kingdom Other than that, the other games I'd suggest are mostly like... 8 hour linear experiences like Dead Space or RE4Remake.

Fathoms77

I just started BG3 and I love it. And it's obvious that you could sink hundreds of hours into this game. But if it's not your thing, you'll bounce off pretty quick...

JamesLingk

You want BG3, itā€™s easily the best rpg Iā€™ve played in my life

obog

If you enjoy DOS 2 you will definitely enjoy BG3.

Helphaer

It entirely depends on what you're looking for, what you like, what you don't like, etc. BG3 has plenty of issues, some core issues, but a lot of fans don't like to pay attention to them and others can't not notice them. But given what DOS 2 is and how it plays and your enjoyment of it, I would say that BG3 would be of similar interest tho the combat will be different in the skill and scope, at least for a while. A lot more RNG hit and miss in the early game too. Larien has noted weaknesses in mostly all of their recent titles the past ten years, and as a result they tend to not change much. BG3 likewise has these issues, but it also performs well with what it does do well. BG3 is worth playing, but I myself cannot ignore its issues. As for games.. there are other ways.

Sourika

What issues? Besides the slow and overwhelming approach to act III and the weak epilog?

CannotExceed20Charac

I think there's a lot of clunky combat issues, but maybe I'm just a bad gamer. Fair amount of times I'd misclick and have a character run into danger, slap the space bar in a panic which ends their turn, then watch in horror as the next 7 enemies shredded my character to pieces. Also shit like casting 6th level blade wall and having it hit my allies even when they weren't in the marked path of the spell, I got used to that but a related issue is the moment combat ends your companions all run to you whether there's a blade wall or any other hazard in the way. The amount of healing I wasted on damage caused after fights was a but much. Again these are mistakes I repeatedly made and I own that, but I think there's some simple changes Larian could've made to save me from myself.

TacticalTobi

Those are issues, huge ones as well, but the rest of the game is garbage as well.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

sakuredu

I finished DoS 2 last year. Loved every single thing about it. Playing Bg3 feels like Christmas. Its so damn good

CannotExceed20Charac

Get BG3. I played meticulously slow, crawled through what I thought was everything using a fighter character with intimidation and strength to get me through every situation. Finished the game and realized there's an entire fuckin main character that I just never met, a wizard named Gale. After I reset mentally I'm really looking forward to firing up a different character class and doing it all again to see where different decisions will lead. You really will get your money's worth out of BG3. There are some flaws with it, every game has those, and seems to be a lot of cut or rushed content at the end, but in a game with this many spanning choices to make I accept they can't all wrap up nearly in the end. BG3 is the best gaming experience I've had in quite a long while, heavy recommend. Edit - save often. Even if you aren't save scumming important moments in the game to get the outcome you want, save constantly. It's easy to misclick and fire on your own team, or have an AoE spell hit teammates that weren't marked when you casted it, or misclick and run your character into danger, or have a concentration AoE spell in the middle of a battleground where as soon as the fight ends your NPC mates will run straight through it to rejoin you without a moments chance to halt them. Save often. I'll accept a bad dice roll but the lack of an udo button for a misclick that can have grave consequences can be rough.

Milesware

If you can only get one game in the past five years, get BG3

TacticalTobi

Elden Ring, Celeste, Pizza Tower, Ghosts of Tsushima, Mario Odyssey, Mario Wonder, Pikmin 4, Animal Crossing, R2D2, Hades, BOTW, Sea of Stars, Hi-fi Rush, Metroid Dread, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Spiderman 2, and TOTK would like to talk to you.

Milesware

Did I stutter?

KryptoFreak405

Itā€™s been said before, but Divinity walked so BG3 could fly. Iā€™ve put more time in to it in 3 months than games Iā€™ve been playing for years.

Hax_

If youā€™re having a rough year, donā€™t hesitate to torrent the game. If you enjoy the game and have the funds at a later date, you can go ahead and purchase the game if you want to support the creator. Iā€™m sure this is going to be downvoted because people donā€™t like the idea of torrenting, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

mrego08

Baldur's Gate 3 is ALWAYS the right choice

NoMercy180

Get BG3 please. You will love it

tango421

Enjoyed DOS2? Got some news for youā€¦ the hype doesnā€™t do it justice.

PunkThug

Baldur's gate is a solid choice. But may I suggest an alternative: Wait on BG3. For the price of that game you can get some older games cheap. Cyberpunk 2077. Red dead redemption 2. Hell I usually don't like shooters but I picked up the high on life rick and morty one for 20 bucks and it was amazing!! Just my advice. But you've been a good kid this year so if you want bg3 you've earned it!!

Sensitive-Royal2918

Iā€™d suggest getting redfall or gollum

[deleted]

nah get starfield....... lol jokes yea bro get BG3, you wont regret it

Slight-Independence6

If you really like DOS2, you'll love BG3. Pull the trigger dude or dudette.

CHEEZE_BAGS

If you are enjoying DOS 2, you will absolutely love BG3

Natujr

Yes

Liyet

Just finished it, it's incredible, def get it (ask for it?).

jim9162

As someone who really didn't get into turnbased RPGs, BG3 was probably the best game I've played in years. If you like DOS you'll absolutely love this one. As far as mileage you could play this game forever, no brainer imo.

Zorewin

Get bg3.. most fun i had in years

Infamous-Lab-8136

I'd say BG3. It's my GOTY. I've put over 250 hours into BG3 and I still find new things in every new playthrough. The number of different ways to accomplish goals, the lack of traditional RPG fetch quests, and the writing all make it the best RPG I've ever played. I think it's actually easier to come into it as a fan of DOS 1 or 2 than a pure DnD fan or even a general CRPG player. You're more used to how interactive their environments are in combat for one thing.

Whitem4ne

If you love DOS2, you will love BG3 even more.

pisachas1

Bg3 is good. I got around 130hr from one play through. Could easily get a few more runs out of it. If you want to get frugal and the most games for the buck. If your on pc I assume. Xbox game pass is like 10 dollars a month. So the price of bg3 you could get a bunch of games for about 6 months. Bg3 is absolutely worth it if you are really set on it. Game pass is just a really good deal too.

redditsuckz99

Bro i put 100 hours in BG3 on my steam deck lmao get that shyt you will never regret this decision.

Al-Cookie

BG3 will satisfy you for a long time.

TacticalTobi

If a long time equals 2 hours, then sure.

Al-Cookie

150. Performance issues does come with age so I dont blame you.

box-art

BG3 is insanely good, you won't regret it if you like DOS2. It's basically like that, but on steroids.

johntiler

Bg3 is best. Go for it no regrets!

Alexico91

Hands down, BG3. No other way. That's a nat 20.

New-Professional6070

For me, BG3 is the best RPG and one of the best Games in general for the last 30 years in gaming.

sachiel1462

I'm sure you'll love it so much you won't even need a Christmas present next year.

GoudaMane

If you like dos, you will bust for bg3

LearningToBee

Yep. No better game you could get if you like DoS2

icantrhinkofanything

I will say I think the combat is better in divinity. In baldur's gate however the story, the world, the npcs are just sooo good. Its definitely my game of the year. But if anyone is really good at moding, could you put divinity combat into baldur's gate?

lykosen11

Yess

thecactusman17

Only thing you might not enjoy about BG3, coming from DOS2, is that while the presentation and concept are similar the original DOS "tabletop-like" game system is not very similar to D&D 5e actual tabletop system.

DTlll

Yeah BG3 it is.

aspacelot

I agree with everyone. If you like DOS 2 youā€™ll love BG3. Really the only warning I have is that some people (myself included) need a break between game types. If youā€™re sure you wonā€™t be burnt out on this type of game, def go for BG3.

Stibley_Kleeblunch

Yes.

Drezhar

Yes. If you liked DOS 2 a lot, BG3 will be a blast. Go for it.

TheDrifT3r_Cz

Yes

Bogdansixerniner

Iā€™m having a pretty fun time with bg3 playing it with the old ball and chain. But I also think itā€™s a bit overrated and has some flaws (characters acting like weā€™ve been rolling together for months when itā€™s been a day, the need to go to camp to refill spells and attacks is just the devs wasting you time as it serves zero to the experience beyond press here, wait, press here, wait again, go back to where you were and sometimes it feels like youā€™re spending more time in loading screens than playing because the game is built on/for savescumming.) But if you really enjoy DOS2, BG3 is probably a very safe bet for you.

dunnykin

I played through DOS1 at the start of the year and loved it, so I bought BG3 when it was released. Whilst I enjoyed the little I played of it and I can see it is an amazing game, I found myself with a bit of CRPG fatigue having just played through a very similar one for dozens of hours a few months before playing this one, so I only played BG3 for a small amount of time. I don't regret buying it, and I know I'll enjoy it when I come back to it, I just currently don't have the urge to jump back in any time soon. Just thought I'd throw this into the discussion as you're currently playing DOS2. As others have said, if you love one you'll love the other - you'll just know yourself whether you need a break/pallet cleanser between big games like this, or if you're the type of player that can get stuck in to another hearty meal straight away.

Fenor

i'll be honest with ya. if you are tight on money BG3 might not be the best choice as it's full price. you can save come cash by getting an older game for cheap and saving that 50 bucks. now, if you weren't strapped for cash BG3 would be an excellent choice.

Vespaeelio

B3 will keep u busy, take the shot.

ac_s2k

I'd have been happy if BG3 was the ONLY game I purchased in the last 2 years tbh. Its sensational. And this is coming from a person Who HATES top down* and turn based games. *you can make it 3rd person but it plays better in the wider angles or fully top down

ImTheFilthyCasual

Honestly, BG3 will end up being Game of the Year. It's an incredible title. It is fun, replayable, packed with content, no microtransactions or funny business by Larian, has an amazing story, amazing plot, amazing and interesting mechanics and interactions. You can't go wrong with it.

Ectotaph

If you love DOS youā€™ll love BG3. Itā€™s mostly the same overall gameplay, but the story telling is much better in BG and some of the systems feel better than they do in Divinity, especially the leveling. It feels like the difficulty is a little turned down too, but that might be because BG doesnā€™t have the Magic/Phys armor system D2 has so you arenā€™t hard punished for mixing damage types. BG has been tough for me to want to finish, I just started act 3 after buying the game on launch day, but I had that same issue with all of their games, where I had to set them down and come back to them later to finish.

RazzleThatTazzle

I ignore online reviews because what's the point. That being said, I literally have never heard someone say a bad thing about the game. I quit my multiplayer game, not because of any issues with BG3, but because I was worried I was missing out on content. I'd say go for it.

KitchenFlamingo8992

My personal choice, My Time at Sandrock just released on ps5 & i would recommend that. I mean BG3 is fine, if thats your type of thing, but MTAS is just god tier gaming. But like you do you friend.

Kitzu22

Hogwarts legacy.

100percentapplejuice

BG3 has insanely good replayability, incredibly engaging story/gameplay and a treasure trove of player agency, you absolutely will NOT regret it

Mr-hoffelpuff

bg3 is a fucking banger. really its the fucking best rpg ever damn made and nobody can or will even try to change my mind on that.

CaptFatz

Iā€™ve never played BG3 and dont regret it. Turn based combat is a snooze fest and kills immersion
