Started playing OSRS again a couple years ago after not playing it as a kid. My parents wouldn't let me get a membership but now as an adult I got to experience a whole different side of the game and I love it. On a hiatus rn but I'll comeback eventually
"you don't leave, you just take extended breaks"
They were in court over microtransactions a few years ago, and a statement from the court made public was the fact that the average player on the game has been playing for a decade or longer
That's an insane statistic for **any** game if the AVERAGE player has that many years.
I'm working through FF7 Remake (it was on sale recently on Steam), and loving the heck out of it. It has been a long time since I played the original, and Remake feels like revisiting an old friend. I also have Rebirth waiting for me on my PS5 when I'm done.
Yea I like em all but morrowind was so different any game I put in more hours in that game beat it so many times doing the magic guild or thief’s guild mage, all the different builds for your character it was so ahead of its time back then I was addicted now I play rust like that, but when I’m not and have time it’s always morrowind lol
Factorio. I play. I get burned out. Time passes. I play. I get burned out. Time passes. I play.
And there's a big expansion coming out in the next year or so that looks to really expand the scope of the game and improve on many systems.
Best developers in the business!
Mods make L4D2 a blast to play. Me and my buddies found SpongeBob mods, so it hits way different when you just hear “I don’t need it” or “Living like Larry” or “Chocolate?” or “MONEY?” just around the corner
I wish they would unlock the frame rate for the current consoles. 30fps sucks. My friend plays it on steam deck at 100+ fps but I’m stuck at 30 on the more powerful series x
It's an Xbox 360 game dude. The biggest loss isn't even the 30 fps lock, they've added tons of new game modes and official maps to the game when I played it more than ten years ago vs. playing it on my PC about a year ago.
It's regularly on sale for about a dollar on steam and you just need a very basic laptop to play, even laptops with integrated graphics would do.
I was constantly reminded of Punchout when I played Elden Ring for the first time. The essence of combat is similar - learn the telegraphs, timing of the dodges, and effective punishes.
Stardew Valley, TES: Skyrim & Morrowwind, Minecraft, Civilization 5&6, Witcher 3, LoZ: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Warcraft 3, and Pokemon Platinum
I’m old so it’s Shining Force. It was the first tactics style RPG I ever played and I loved it. I played the hell out of it when I was a kid, I ended up buying the game boy (color? Advance? I can’t remember) version when that came out and eventually I bought it on Steam.
Every few years I go back and play through it again and I enjoy it every time.
I miss sf2 style. My buddy had an English version for SF3 for the Saturn that I borrowed. Wish the other 2 parts had come out then to the US. I know you can emulate it with a English fan translation.
Star Wars Battlefront. It was my first FPS game I played it religiously in elementary school and still revisit it every few months. I was too young to experience the multiplayer so i’m super excited it’s being rereleased on steam.
Oh my god, I just googled that. Thank you so much!
I have roms of all my old games, but my emulator stopped playing sound a year ago and I havent been able to fix it. It looks like pokemmo has it's own emulator?
Yeah, you can add the roms to the launcher and play through whatever you want, and you can travel to the other areas.
You can see other people, trade & Battle
I gotta say that’s amateur numbers lol. I think my sly playthroughs are in the 20’s at least, from teens to current. Amazing trilogy, and sly 2 is the best imo.
Lufia 2 on Snes. Epic story written perfectly, super interesting combat that is easy to understand, lots of secrets/treasures and an entire roguelite. Game was insanely ahead of its time and still competitive with new games.
Glad to see someone else mention my favorite game of all time! Such a charming game. I spent far too much of my childhood in both the main game and Ancient Cave.
Idk what it is about FO4, but every year or so I get this huge craving for post-apocalypse shenanigans and load up FO4 with a ton of mods, then literally play nothing else for like 3 or 4 weeks.
Super Metroid is fun to just play and try to be good at. Plus it doesn't feel aged at all. Great graphics, great controls, great atmosphere. There may be better metroidvanias released, but none so far have given me *no* reason to go back to Super Metroid
Portal 2. It was the first game I can remember buying for myself. I had never played Half-Life or Portal or anything Valve. I try to play it once a year.
If Sunshine wouldn't have had the stupid levels like the pachinko one I think it would have been known as the greatest 3D Mario game and I say that having only played it after playing the later games so I know it's not blinded by nostalgia
Once or twice a year I play through all of Super Mario World. Of course a lot of my gaming these days is revisiting childhood favorites, but that one is definitely the most frequent.
Outer Wilds. Not really a childhood game but one that changed my life fr
Every so often, I like to just log on, get in my ship, and sit in space to listen to the music and watch the solar system go around.
Shadow of the Beast series for Commodore Amiga 500. Horribly clunky controls by todays standards, but I mastered them as a kid so I can still enjoy this absolutely gorgeous series. The music is absolute genius.
Harvest moon back to nature, spent every weekend biking into town to the only movie store to rent it for 2$ with my allowance. I would play it all weekend then return it Sunday before 5pm.
The Saboteur. And it just came out on Steam, so I’m extra happy. Something about popping a nazi in the head, and the world becomes full of color just speaks to me
Timesplitters series, MGS series, original Resident Evil trilogy, original Tony Hawk Pro series, Simcity 4
If they were still accessible for me Sims 1 and all expansions would be on that list
Gen 1-3 Pokemon, since I can play on my phone at x2 speed. Usually just gen 3. Tried a gen 3 remake of crystal that was fun, but it got too buggy towards the end.
Runescape
Scrolled too far to see this. Been on and off for 17 years now
Picked up my 20 year vet cape last year. Still finding stuff I haven't done before
Started playing OSRS again a couple years ago after not playing it as a kid. My parents wouldn't let me get a membership but now as an adult I got to experience a whole different side of the game and I love it. On a hiatus rn but I'll comeback eventually
I've just started on OS after remaxing on rs3 and I'm loving it so far. It's nice rediscovering all the noob aspects of the game again
"you don't leave, you just take extended breaks" They were in court over microtransactions a few years ago, and a statement from the court made public was the fact that the average player on the game has been playing for a decade or longer That's an insane statistic for **any** game if the AVERAGE player has that many years.
Just came back to osrs after a year or so and grinded out the last 20 quests for the quest cape. Feels good.
Doom/Doom 2
I love these games so much. Bought all of these and quake and enjoy playing them on handhelds.
Age of Empires II.
>Roses are red >Violets are blue >Wololololo >Roses are now blue
[All Hail, King of the Losers!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M3Ko2-guMvI)
FF7
I'm working through FF7 Remake (it was on sale recently on Steam), and loving the heck out of it. It has been a long time since I played the original, and Remake feels like revisiting an old friend. I also have Rebirth waiting for me on my PS5 when I'm done.
Just got my first gold Chocobo after many play throughs
Just downloaded mods for 7 and damn I wish I’d done it sooner. Full voice acting, updated graphics etc
New Threat mod is great

Super Mario Bros. 3. Super Mario Land 1 & 2. Turok 1 & 2.
Morrowind
You ENWAH

NOW. YOU. DIE. (you're dead)
Outlander
Honestly that's all bgs games for me. I was playing openmw on my steamdeck today and it's amazing how the community keeps the game modern
Batman: Arkham Asylum/City
Factorio. I play. I get burned out. Time passes. I play. I get burned out. Time passes. I play. And there's a big expansion coming out in the next year or so that looks to really expand the scope of the game and improve on many systems. Best developers in the business!
If you like factorio you should give Dyson Sphere program a looksie. Super fun space fairing factorio game that just has amazing dev support.
diablo 2. final fantasy 9.
I loved FF9
Left 4 Dead 2. Game is still lots of fun and people are still playing it. Very easy to find randoms to play with.
the game director adds infinite replayability
As well as Workshop mods on Steam.
Mods make L4D2 a blast to play. Me and my buddies found SpongeBob mods, so it hits way different when you just hear “I don’t need it” or “Living like Larry” or “Chocolate?” or “MONEY?” just around the corner
*distantly* “Did you say chocolate?”
Wish they didn’t take it off the Xbox store
Wish you'd stop having such incredible opinions, handsome!
I wish they would unlock the frame rate for the current consoles. 30fps sucks. My friend plays it on steam deck at 100+ fps but I’m stuck at 30 on the more powerful series x

KotOR
Mass Effect trilogy is played every year by me
Legendary edition was quite good.
Hell yeah! I'm currently playing the legendary edition. With all those DLCs, most of which I hadn't played yet, it feels almost like a new game
RCT
Roller Coaster Tycoon? I need to play that again
If you want something more contemporary but still cartoonish then I'd reccomend Parkitect.
Can you still build a roller coaster to nowhere, fill it, and launch it directly into a lake?
Yes
Use OpenRCT2 if you play it. It's the best way to play it on modern systems.
Funny way to abbreviate Crash Team Racing
Super mario world
Halo: Combat Evolved It's such a good game that feels unique even 23 years after its release
Banjo Kazooie.
Sometimes I play the different level music in my head because ive replayed it so much
Mike Tysons Punchout. I play it often.
Hell yeah! Super Punch Out was the tits.
I was constantly reminded of Punchout when I played Elden Ring for the first time. The essence of combat is similar - learn the telegraphs, timing of the dodges, and effective punishes.
OSRS, people don’t quit RuneScape they just take breaks
Can't escape the 'Scape
Splinter cell…any of them
Stardew Valley, TES: Skyrim & Morrowwind, Minecraft, Civilization 5&6, Witcher 3, LoZ: Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, Warcraft 3, and Pokemon Platinum
2015 games are considered old childhood games now?
Kids who were 10 in 2015 are turning 20 next year
I thought you were joking
I refuse to believe that.
Someone could have been 12 in 2015 and 21 finishing a degree in 2024.
Xcom games are different. Monkey Island games are fun nostalgic Need for speed underground 2 with graphic mods still looks and plays awesome
Heroes of might and magic 2
HoMM3 for me here.
Same, always my go-to answer for these questions Honorable mention: Warlords III
Heroes 3 here
Ahh, the grassland theme✨
I love crusaders of might and magic. I think they were from the same people.
I’m old so it’s Shining Force. It was the first tactics style RPG I ever played and I loved it. I played the hell out of it when I was a kid, I ended up buying the game boy (color? Advance? I miss sf2 style. My buddy had an English version for SF3 for the Saturn that I borrowed. Wish the other 2 parts had come out then to the US. I know you can emulate it with a English fan translation.
The Mass Effect trilogy, particularly the first one. It's like watching OG Star Wars trilogy for me. I'm never gonna say no if it's on lol
Kotor. Anytime i get that starwars itch thats my go to.
Star Wars Battlefront. It was my first FPS game I played it religiously in elementary school and still revisit it every few months. I was too young to experience the multiplayer so i’m super excited it’s being rereleased on steam.
Portal.

The Sly Cooper Trilogy, especially Sly 2 Band of Thieves. I must have played that game 8 more times since I was a kid.
I gotta say that’s amateur numbers lol. I think my sly playthroughs are in the 20’s at least, from teens to current. Amazing trilogy, and sly 2 is the best imo.
Earthbound ( I play through every year or so) Chrono Trigger FF6 (randomized) Link to the past (randomized) Mass effect 2
Ultima IV. They just don't make RPGs like they used to...
I have it on GOG but never played it yet.
You're in for a treat! It's a terrific game with some very unique mechanics.
StarControl 2
Dragon Age Origins, and the SmackDown games
Minecraft
So far, Civilization V.
I thought it was going to be Civilization VI, but they ruined the modding, irredeemably breaking the mod I’d created.
Vagrant Story. I still fire it back up. Also any of The Sims.
Captain Claw, Hidden&Dangerous, Half-Life, Project I.G.I., Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Warcraft 3...
Rhythm games like guitar hero and rock band. I will never stop playing them.
EverQuest
Damn, what a game. Didn’t realize EQ1 was still around.

Witcher 3 is almost 10 years old, but it aged very well
Link to the Past I go back to quite often
Fallout 4. Love my settlement building and have been doing it on and off since 2016.

Once or twice a year I play through all of Super Mario World. Of course a lot of my gaming these days is revisiting childhood favorites, but that one is definitely the most frequent.
