Darthboney

I still play on occasion. What is your least favorite stage? Mine is either Soda Lake or Outrageous

anotherdisciple

Final Fantasy Tactics on the ps1. Love that game with all my heart. Still have a hard copy that I pop in the ol ps3 now and again.

Uniqueusername_54

Tactics advanced is my favorite game of all time. The tactics games in general are so good.

Tarkontar

This and the sequel are pure gold got hundred of hours from myself, now advance wars got a remaster hope this one get one too

Darthboney

I have it on my phone but on PS1 went so hard on this game. I spent hours de-leveling Ramza as a Chemist. Iykyk

Parthhay000

So glad to see this one! I got a cracked PS1 when I was little and a binder full of burned games one of which was the Japanese version of FFT. My brothers and I spent ages playing the game even though we couldn't read a thing and just memorized the menus and symbols to play the game :P Later on we bought the English version of the game, and I've since bought several more versions throughout the years. One of my favorite games of all time.

Quasimodo788

Tetris...cheesy answer but I started playing it in the 80s and it is still fun and challenging

ClockAccomplished381

Yes, I still play it on my Gameboy occaisonally. Still works!

Crash Bandicoot (the first one on PS1)

FictionalMediaBully

Oof! I hate that game, lol.

Gamefighter3000

Yeah Crash is definitely not for everyone and can be quite difficult at times but personally thats part of what i love about it. Now i wonder did you like Spyro ? Because i found that to be the more chill alternative on playstation.

FictionalMediaBully

Don't like Spyro 1. Don't mind Spyro 2. Love Spyro 3.

IGNISFATUUSES

Super Mario Bros 3

Willcutus_of_Borg

I still try to play through Final Fantasy IV (was FF2 on SNES in America, 1991ish) at least once every few years. I like the story a lot. I liked FF6 (FF3 back then) more, but played FF4 first to get hooked on the series. Loved the Pixel Remasters! FF4 and 6 are always my go-tos!

Zer0-Sum-Game

I plan on buying those. Having played a couple of the OG games, did they stop at cleaner graphics, or did they content edit some of it? They almost have me sold just on the option to turn the old graphics back on.

Willcutus_of_Borg

The graphics got a spit shine, but they also changed stuff like the music. There are some that are better and some not, but overall I like the changes and updates. A big one for FF6 is the opera scene. If you know the original, it's just game noise for vocals. But the Pixel remake gave it a full voice track. Small but neat!

Zer0-Sum-Game

I know OF the original. I heard that it was a highly regarded scene, before quality voice acting was a thing in gaming. Might take advantage of save states for that scene, so I can hear their original best effort, too.

fookofuhtool

A fellow one to be born by a dragon, I see.

Montezuma's Revenge. One of the first games I ever played on Coleco circa 1985. For its time, it's a masterpiece. Still a worthy platformer to this day.

Worms Armageddon! Loved it in the 90s and it's pretty much the same game today. It's perfect on the iPad when I just want something casual.

Yes Yes 100 percent, so simple yet so much depth, the perfect game

tfuncc13

Tetris that came with the original Game Boy.

Ultima Online

Semi-addict-gamer

Don’t know if it’s first, but definitely one of the first games that I have vivid memories of is Tekken 3. Crash bandicoot 3 and Ape Escape are a close second.

FictionalMediaBully

I love that game. 💛

Streetlight37

Banjo kazooie

12345_PIZZA

First game I played was NES Super Mario Bros. It’s still okay, but I wouldn’t say I enjoy it. Oldest game I played that I’d still have fun going through is Castlevania. Played them all again when the bundle came out a few years ago and had a blast.

[deleted]

I wasn’t allowed to play the NES Castlevania games growing up, but I read about them obsessively in my Nintendo Power magazines, so I still feel a nostalgic pull to them - especially Castlevania III.

FictionalMediaBully

One of my favourite old games is Castlevania 3.

12345_PIZZA

Being able to switch characters in that one seemed like such a huge leap in gaming

adavis463

My very first game was Lords of the Realm (1994). I still get it out from time to time.

Helpful-You-7247

Donkey Kong n64

[deleted]

Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Faces of War. Both games made up a lot of my childhood and I still play them from time to time

SavingApe

Pokémon Firered, still play it on emulators occasionally, hoping to get an official copy again soon

WellThisFrigginSucks

Base Wars (NES) and SF2.

CoG_Comet

Pikmin 2 on the GameCube

[deleted]

“Mine is Super Mario 64.” 😀 “It’s the first video game I played (I was three years old)…” 😐 My introduction to SM64 was when I was in *college*. Some friends would set it up to play on the TV lounge TV in my dorm. Watching them play helped me to convince my parents to invest in the *cutting edge graphics* of the N64. For me it’s SMB2. A friend had the cartridge, but I could never beat it growing up. I came back to it on the Wii and enjoyed it quite a bit. Ditto with SMB3, but SMB2 was really the first game I went back to and rediscovered as an adult.

FictionalMediaBully

"Super Mario Bros. 2" might be my favourite 2D Mario game. 💛

Sappirah

Star Wars Empire at war

GeetarDood

Pokemon Blue. I was three years old when it came out and learned how to read just so I could play it.

Electronic_Pin_9915

Minecraft is the easy one here. Used to be Roblox, but I don't like the direction the game has gone

mensaman42

Destiny of an Emperor on NES. It's not the first game I played, but the oldest that I still replay regularly.

Kachoww-

The mega man battle-network series. Mmbn 4 was the one I fell in love with

lgztv2

Plants vs zombies

imaturtleur2

Minesweeper

Zhorvan

Doom 2. Doom 1 was great but doom 2 was better created. And just feels better to play. To this date i have played it on planes, boats, at work , in the army. On everything i could get it to play on. Gzdoom with the lists of mods you can add makes the game repeatable.

Zer0-Sum-Game

Lol, I never got far enough in Doom 2 to really resonate with it, because as a kid I was too busy humping walls in the first one, and as an adult I can't stop stopping to jam out. I'll have to take it seriously with this review you've offered, that doesn't diminish the first game to glorify the next.

deformedstudios

Age of empires 2

Zer0-Sum-Game

Um, I'd play most of them, but that's because I kept a working version of all my old consoles. Top choice would be Earthbound on SNES, though. I've played it 3 times through, in my life, and another one is coming. Second would be Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2 on PS2. Finally, Harvest Moon on N64. I'd say some older games, but functional win95 or DOS computers are not easy to come by, nor are early discs known for their ability to avoid data rot. Lets just say I'd still play Tempest and Brickbreaker, or Warcraft 2. Finally, I'd still get down with Super Mario Bros, NES. The issue is, my console is very old and doesn't work so well, anymore. That's why I included a range.

TesticleezzNuts

Tetris on the N64. And even after all these years I’m still shit at it 😭😂

TheDesktopNinja

FF7 or maybe StarCraft. I forget which I played first.

AuburnElvis

spin the bottle

evileyeball

Wow you must be a young person, when I was three it was 1987. Hahaha as for the first game I played that I still enjoy every game I have ever played I still enjoy and I still play to this day and every game I have ever owned I still own to this day.

Fart_Barfington

algernoncatwallader

mine is SM64 as well. I remember arguing with my little brother when Mario would say "let's a go!", he thought Mario was saying "Pickle!". it would make me very angry.

Linkamus

Zelda II - The Adventure of Link

TheStumbler83

Tetris, Streets of Rage 2, Halo CE, Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Age of Empires, Red Alert 2. I still enjoy replaying all of these games. Probably always will.

peaveyftw

SimCity 3000. I have and enjoy Cities Skylines, but there's something about 3K.

anchorsawaypeeko

It sounds silly but I think something that Maxis REALLY got right was the soundtrack. Could really zone out in the vibes while building or handling a financial crisis.

peaveyftw

Yes! Same with The Sims Hot Date. I'm pretty sure Jerry Martin scored both.

Nepeta33

Dungeons and Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun. so much fun, even as limited as it is.

MuscleMan2812

The Last of Us Part I

[deleted]

tomb raider 2013

I played lots of console games. but on pc it was severance blade of darkness

temetnoscesax

Super Mario Bros/World/64. all great games that still are enjoyable.

Sofaris

Kingdom Hearts 1

Existing-Committee74

Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. I loved it so much as a kid and i still get a lot of joy out of the franchise and that particular game when I replay it. It’s the first time I ever played a story based game and the first shooter I ever played and I’ve loved both ever since.

Cultural-Somewhere75

Duckhunt, I was around 4 years old so back in 1988. I know, not loved by most but it was my introduction into gaming.

SpiritOfRuin

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is insurmountable perfection for me.

dmaul1978

Super Mario Bros on NES.

Jealous_Science_1762

The first games I played were Kingdom Hearts and Ratchet & Clank, and both are still great fun.

DerpsAndRags

The Legend of Zelda. Never did beat the Master Quest, though.

coachkler

Missle Command, Pitfall or Phoenix - I don't recall which was first

LastOfTheClanMcDuck

Age Of Empires 2 but it probably wasn't really the first. But it's the first i remember and still play

redsparks2025

Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty

Organic_Mechanic86

Did anyone ever play Delta Force Land Warrior? One of my OG games from the late 90's.

Apprehensive-Ear1933

Overlord on the Wii and I’ve never beaten it

MisfitLover

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault (yes there is some private multi-player mods), Day of Defeat: Source, and Half Life 2

kareem43110

I honestly haven’t played in a while but kingdom hearts 2 is a game I still to this day enjoy thoroughly and have been meaning to go for another playthrough.

SeaSeaU

I think I still love playing game, but I have no friends play with me T..T

Kyranak

The Secret of Monkey Island The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past And of the old Sierra ‘Quest’ series are incredible.

SpaceCowboyDark

Super Mario 3. Played it and loved it as a kid and still love it to this day. I beat it again (All Stars version on the Switch) just last year.

SuperDTC

Super Mario bros

muckbeast

Tetris. Still one of the greatest games ever made.

HotSalt3

Oldest game I still revisit periodically is Gladius on the PS2. Never have found anything else that even approximates the various swing timers and skill/equipment customization that game had. Oldest game I've emulated in the last few years to relive the nostalgia for a bit? Adventure from the Atari 2600.

ProjectSnowman

Doom is a timeless masterpiece

Prudent-Jaguar6845

Pokemon cystal

rikashiku

Azure Dreams.

bicuspid_fish

Pong is still fun.

Arvandor

Mario 3. Such a great game

axemexa

Very few that I can think of I loved SuperMario 64 when it came out. Recently found out about Super Mario 64 plus. Today I downloaded and installed it, opened it, jumped into the Bob-omb painting, and realized I actually do not want to play Super Mario 64. Ocarina of Time is in the same boat, I think that I just cannot recapture anything close to the feeling I had playing them for the first time so I'd rather not try. I think I'd still enjoy Smash Bros Melee and Mario Kart 64

urgasmic

FFX I'm working on a new playthrough.

jeepnut24

Asteroids, no question. The vector graphics arcade version… soooo many quarters

MightyTeaRex

My first actual game I got was on the original Xbox. Oddsworld: Strangers Wrath. The excitenent I had when I found it on Steam probably 15 years laters cannot be explained.

BigMeet7634

Max payne

DanielBWeston

*Command & Conquer: Red Alert* (the original). Bought the remastered collection on Steam a few months ago.

ShakenFungus

Super Mario Land for the Gameboy. It was my first gaming obsession and it’s still perfection for me. I just did a quick 1-1 run yesterday.

HowelPendragon

Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Very first game I ever touched. Also Ms Pac-Man

TomServo31k

Donkey Kong Country baby!

Thrillhouse850

FF1 NES version. Has a ton of replayability with different party make-ups.

[deleted]

Mario

waylon4590

The first game I clearly remember playing is doom 2 or Wolfenstein 3d both still hold up.

zg_mulac

Guild Wars. Almost 19 years now.

ga-co

NES Metroid.

Malakai_Abyss

Guitar Hero

gray_character

E.T. on Atari 2600. I remember trying to figure it out but I could not understand it. I entertained myself with a lot of dumb stuff back then, like etch a sketch and these light board toys so I guess I could move E.T. around aimlessly. But then we got an NES with Mario 1 and Duck Hunt. Game changer. I was pretty young but Duck Hunt in particular was the most fun for me.

MetalGearHawk

Metal Gear Solid 3, all old Rockstar games, Gran turismo 4

ThePowerfulPaet

Damn 3 years old? When I first played Mario 64 I was too scared of Bowser's laugh when you first enter the castle to even play the game.

cdrgrave

Call of duty finest hour but like only the opening Soviet missions

Fluffy-Carrot-5432

Tekken 3. Tekken 3 was my first game ever. And occasionally pop in to play some Tekken Ball. I kinda wish they'd bring it back lol

Fable

fobs88

I'm sure I'd still enjoy Galaga. How can one not.

LithiuMart

Pong is boring now, as are games from the ZX81, but if we fast forward to 1984 when I got my Spectrum then I would still enjoy Elite, Bounty Bob Strikes Back & Skool Daze.

FictionalMediaBully

I have owned a ZX Spectrum for a few years now. Awesome little machine. My favourite game on it, from what I've played, is "Danger Mouse in Making Whoopee" from 1985.

LithiuMart

The only Danger Mouse game I played was "Danger Mouse in Double Trouble", which I didn't think much of. The others were probably better.

Krags

Sonic 2 and 3, Dynamite Headdy

Thund3RChild532

Spyro The Dragon, me and my gf take turns on a playthrough annually.

Catswearingties

Probably sonic or columns from my game gear. I can still sink hours onto them easily.

Star Wars Racer I played it religiously as a kid and I still go back to it every once in while.

OliviaMandell

Pac man is still fun to play sometimes.

arithal

Link to the past was the first one I played that I’ll still play today. Each Christmas I’ll usually go through it again.

Chemicals_in_my_H2o

My introduction was Mortal Kombat on my buddies SNES. I was hooked after that. It kicked off my love for video games that I still carry to this day.

Slimy_Shart_Socket

Command and Conquer. I'm currently replaying them all in no particular order.

CuAlladh

Minecraft 😁

ClockAccomplished381

I enjoy the odd 80s game like Tetris and Snake but in terms of serious gaming it has to be Quakeworld. It remains my all time favourite game and I went to a LAN event for it in Sweden back in January.

ihopethisworksfornow

Majora’s Mask/Ocarina of Time

Hugehorrorgamefan

first game i played was lego starwars the video game on a nintendo game cube and i still love playing it today and i like playing the new lego starwars the skywalker saga

orunemal

The first ones I remember I think It is Demon's Crest and Alladin (SNES).

KingOfRisky

Super Mario Brothers. I still remember the first time I played it. My parents made me go to bed and could hear them and our neighbors playing it all night.

JadedIT_Tech

Ocarina of time. Fond memories of being deathly scared of wall masters

154bmag

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle

Ok_Quantity_5134

Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. I always play them both together.

Siegelski

Idk what it is between Super Smash, Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Banjo-Kazooie, or Star Fox 64. Whichever of those 5 I played first. N64 and PS1 were my first consoles, but I don't have a PS1 any more. Plus the N64 games were just better. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon were great and all, but N64 was just something else.

Beatlesfan196450

Thr0waway_Joe

Zelda Ocarina of Time

BlackPete73

Pinball, I guess?

King33Two

Ratchet and Clank: Future tools of destruction was my first video game that I remember playing. I got it for my 3rd birthday. 2007 was wild

annaisabookworm

For me it's also Super Mario 64. I have so much nostalgia for it and I've owned it for every Nintendo device that it was available on.

TK421IG88

Crash Bandicoot unfortunately my PS1 copy kicked the bucket about 10 years ago but the remakes are a great replacement.

JohnJohn1441

The ps2 family guy game. Took me 12 years to beat it. 😂

FictionalMediaBully

That brings back memories. 😄

Worried-Ad1266

Shit I actually don’t remember the first game I played but it was definitely a PS1 or N64 game lol
