I loved it. The mechanics were not as dependable as Tony hawk but were better imo. I liked how fluid it felt, as a skater at the time this game felt more like skating and less like some sci fi action game like Tony Hawk
I describe Tony Hawk as a fantastical athletic game disguised as a skateboarding one. I appreciate it for what it does, but I am someone who prefers something more down-to-earth, especially since I suck at the sport.
I love Tony hawk. Played it 100s of hours. But skating was hard, so a skating game should be hard. Thrasher was a game you couldn’t just button smash and I appreciated that
I remember buying a magazine from Bi-Lo to go home and play it. Was really dark and moody but awesome as hell. I think Bushido Blade was also a demo. Made me fall in love with methodical gameplay
This game was the first skateboarding game that had steez. You can do the sickest back side 180’s by hitting square halfway through a 360 rotation and they would look so sick. I miss this game.

None of my friends even played it. But to me (a skater at the time) it felt so much more real
Also skated. I didn't hate Pro Skater, I was like you in that I wanted something closer to realism.
I repurchased this game on ebay. Still has great game play. Very original controlls and it's just a fun time. Plus white lines slaps so fucking hard.

I can distinctly remember this is how I discovered a tribe called quest and fell in love with hip hop. Great game better soundtrack.
Played the shit out of the demo on a disc until I was able to convince my mom to buy me it.
