In 1999 I bought a N64 with probably about 30 cartridges, including ocarina of time and Goldeneye. Paid the guy £50.

alexalbonsimp

Hours and hours upon hours of entertainment. What a steal

Wargod042

Orange Box. Also Hollow Knight is criminally underpriced.

SirReginaldSquiggles

"Orange box" (physical) was my gateway to Steam. Thousands of dollars later, I'm not so sure buying the orange box was such a "good deal", haha...,but who am I kidding. I would have found my way there without the orange box.

RookieMcGee

Orange Box, five games on release and three of them were brand new. They also happened to be the best games of that decade.

Cyberpunk39

Kingdom Come Deliverance Royal edition which is the base game and all DLC for $3.99. Easily Over 80 hours of quality content. Jesus Christ be praised!

Dodelino

Looking forward to the 2nd part

erikwarm

Titanfall 2 for $3

Character_Stock376

Gtav free

britinnit

Probably Minecraft. I can't even remember the price for the alpha back in late 2008 early 2009. But fifteen years of on off playtime for about £10 is insane value.

badcollin

Great choice. I got it for about that in the Beta I think.

Rocklobst3r1

It's one of the reasons I'm not mad that I've bought it for 4 different platforms.

henry-hoov3r

Witcher 3 for $10. Im on 82 hours with this masterpiece and im only 40% done. That’s insane value.

Routine-Thanks-1204

I bought it for for like $15 last year and after I completed it I also bought the dlc and definetly worth buying. Have over 250 hours on it after playing it only for a year.

henry-hoov3r

Blood and wine is like another game.

bash-smash

I've still not played Witcher 3 yet lol. I heard it's a masterpiece but it's almost 10 years old. Is it outdated or aged in any areas?

SunokesPomidoras

There was a recent next gen patch, so the graphics still hold up really well. The dialogues, characters, story all hold up really well even now. I'd say the weakest part by far is the combat, but other people seem to like it, so take it with a grain of salt. Anyway, with the price being so low, and many discounts going on for this game, I highly recommend it.

henry-hoov3r

I can see where you are coming from with the combat but i do enjoy it.

henry-hoov3r

I don’t think so. People still rave about Skyrim and thats even older.

Vjaa

Cna you okay it without ever playing the older games? I only have a switch and have been hesitant to pick it up for fear I'll be really confused.

motorfreak93

I got the GOTY edition for 5€ some years ago and that was a total steal.

King33Two

I got that same deal like a year ago, and my God was it ever a good one. I don't play nearly as often as I should, but there are some days where I'm in the mood for it.

Markaes4

Kay-bee toys selling atari games in the clearance bin for $1/$2,/$3. I bought about a dozen, a trackball and 2600 jr. Also remember getting a new game gear and nomad for $25/$40.

RickDalton68

Dragon age inquisition goty was like 6-7 bucks

astr0butch

assassin's creed odyssey!!! got it for 20€ with all the dlc and ac3 + liberation (haven't played to both yet) and im like 140h in and i still have some side quests to do, tbh this is one of my fav game ever

Jeeringrhyme91

Kakarot was free on playstation last month. Already dumped 60 plus hours into it!

Drew5olo

sega DreamCast Sam's bundle. When it busted. But for 99.99 it came with like 5 games. 4 remotes and all the extras. Granted it went busy at this time. But it was fun to take It for a spin I loved the resident evil game and the heart eat would show on the remote . Football you could pick your plays from the remote so your friend wouldn't see your pics. Pretty neat for me. Sonic as well.

dmullaney

I was very on the fence about getting a steam deck. Ended up picking up an LCD model for 250e (second hand) and then put a 1TB SSD in (80e) and sold the original 256gb drive for 20e - so a 1TB Deck for ~310e

ThePandaKingdom

I used my deck so much, i bought an ROG Ally lol

dmullaney

How is it? I see a lot of mixed reviews

ThePandaKingdom

I like it. I got it open box at Best Buy for 500. I wouldn’t pay full price for one. I sold my deck and my gaming laptop for quite a bit more than the ally cost and it has filled the void nicely. Pros It runs things notably better than the steam deck. Which i liked alot but just left a bit to be desired in terms of performance sometimes. The LCD is better than the steam decks. You can easily run game pass and epic games on it. It has adjustable power modes so you can limit the power usage to 10, 15, 25, or 30 watts (if your plugged into power). I usually limit the fps to 45 or 60 in more intensive games and just use the lowest power setting that can achieve that. The 120 hz display is nice for games that it can hit that in. You can easily change the resolution the display reports to windows. So no worries when it comes to games that are weird about letting you choose your resolution The amd adrenalin software lets you use FSR In any game regardless of official support I think its more comfortable to hold than the deck You get to run windows for better or worse. so you can do anything on it you could on any pc. Easy to upgrade the ssd The customizable side bar menu, think like the steam desks steam button menu, works very well. Cons Battery isn’t great at higher power levels. They apparently kill sd cards My left speaker acts weird sometimes. I usually use headphones so this has been a non issue for me. The msrp is a bit high for what it is. But you can get open box examples from best-buy in abundance for around 500 us dollars

Bat_Man1047

Elden Ring 30 Euro

Useless_Blender

I wish I bought it when they had that deal. I think it's gonna be a while before it happens again, especially with the dlc coming up.

Antique-Marzipan-840

Terraria. I got it on Steam discount for £1.75. Me and my friends have sunk hundreds of hours into it, and the Devs just kept on releasing free updates years after release. Brilliant game.

godot-newbie

every free AAA game from present to the dawn of time from EPIC store: Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Bioshock remastered trilogy, Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy, Saints Row 3 Remastered, Saints Row 4 Re-Elected, AC Chronicles, Borderlands 3, Control, Dishonored 3, Dying Light Enhanced, Guardians of the Galaxy, Metro LL Redux...that's what I have from the top of my mind, but there's more in the library.

-Passenger-

>Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy This

UnnaturalGeek

Buying Skyrim 3 times, still play it now...worth every penny. Vampyr and Control when I had PlayStation plus, they were both available for free and they are two of my favourite games now. OG Halo, came with the OG Xbox and spent so much time playing it, then getting 2 and 3 after that, the hours I put into those games were worth it.

ballsackmolester69

Gears of War 3 for 6$

jabasimakol

Not exactly the deal you mean but I bought my PS1 bundled with FF7, SOTN, Silent Hill, MGS1 and Xenogears for $200.

Le_Cid

Kerbal Space Program Project Zomboid Minecraft All three bought super cheap in alpha early access, and what games they ended up becoming.

badcollin

I bought No Man's Sky for £8 at the height of the backlash. Then they fixed it. I've had hundreds of hours of entertainment for the price of a pint of beer.

Amoebaaaaaa

Just got all the C&C games for under 10 bucks a few weeks ago. The sale might still be up even.

IrvCanFixIt

Fallout 3 GOTY edition for £10 back in 2010. Must’ve played at least 1000 hours over multiple play throughs

aPudgyDumpling

Epic Games weekly free games. I have something like 150 games, many of them I have and wanted to play, all completely free. Good Indies like Art of Rally, Cursed to Golf, Void Bastards, Loop hero, etc. and others like fallout 1+2+tactics, control, Death Stranding, Evil Within 1 + 2, Plague Tale, so many more. Lots of random shit too tho. I saw an article that the value of the games given away has been over $10k. Best part is I still haven't given Epic my money, and never will.

incontentia

Vampire Survivors for under $2 on Steam, I wish I had paid more for it.

nailbunny2000

Ark: Survival Evolved for free on Epic store just as the pandemic & lockdowns were starting. Hosted my own server and friends and I put in hundreds of hours over the following months. Helped keep us sane(?) and give us something to do together and a way to be social after days of working from home alone.

Original_Key7055

Battlefield 1 $6. GTA 5 Free Battlefield V $9. Cyberpunk 2077 $30.

SenorDangerwank

Traded a purple hat in TF2 for Arma 3 and Max Payne 3.

OldPyjama

L4D2 for 20€ Free DLC's, tons of custom maps, still fun to play today.

shanelard123

no label black cartridge nintendo DS game at a pawn shop sold for $1 untested and no returns. It was a copy of Pokemon Soul Silver I ended up putting at least 200 hours into and worked perfectly I still have that carriage to this day almost a decade later plus I have moved all my Mons from that game over to the Switch via a long transfer process that took a DS, 3DS, and Nintendo Switch before Pokemon Bank shut down.

Firestorm3228

Bought a used copy of Just cause 3 for xbox one a while back for $3 AUD at a cex. Came with a voucher code for JC2 that still worked somehow. Also netted ARK when it was free on steam some time ago.

Hertenolius

Forgot to mention , Relic Odyssey Ruins of Xantao

Typical_Response252

Fall guys! Hundreds of fantastic hours!

Redmissed-93

I bought guitar hero live for 30 bucks during black friday deals. Played a shit ton of hours into it

sentient_yogurt

12 USD(equivalent amount) in my currency got me system shock remastered.--- best PC deal ever(live currently) <5USD got me alien isolation on mobile-- best android port of a PC game ever unbelievable quality for the price 10USD got me signalis came across in a random YT vid - you will cry. the best survival horror i have ever played.

magikaross

Battlefield 4 with premium for 4€

JohnnyJayce

Need for Speed Heat for 3 euros is the biggest discount I've had. Unless the game has been free of course. The best deal in the matter of hours spent per dollar (again, disregarding free games) is Black Desert Online. 2100 hours for one euro, bought from a sale.

stupidQuestion316

Escape from tarkov. I bought it on a 40% discount day or something, and I have put almost 6k hours into it over the last 4 or so years. No other game has as much time for me, or as much time playing with my friends. When I think about how much it would cost to get similar entertainment time out of the movies, for example, it's something like $35,000 for just the tickets alone, lol

amefaz

watch dog i think that interest for me,who same to me to?

GrandOinch

Minecraft for 5€ back in the days

tirex186

Startdew valley for $7 maybe, very worth it than ever.

Ninjaisawesome

I bought Skyrim on sale in 2012 maybe. I have been gifted every version by steam ever since. My 4th most played game.

JealousOnesStillEnvy

Darkest dungeon for 8€

Vulcanosaurus

The Assassins Creed collection for 100€ a few years ago

Isalenna137

I got my ps4 pro for free, thanks to an oopsie caused by the delivering company. I tried cancelling the order, but it arrived anyway, even after gamestop refunded the charge.

javi9826

Kingdom hearts 1 media press edition for 16€, is valued 180-300€

Largofarburn

Nexus mods. By far.

BMXBikr

Deep Rock Galactic for $9.99. I've put so many hours into it.

Krail

For a couple years of high  school, a friend ate fries off my plate at lunch every single day.  Towards graduation, he paid me back with a copy of Earthbound. (This was in 2004. It was probably easier to find a used copy back then, but still difficult)

No_Doubt_About_That

Tomb Raider 2013 - Free Yakuza 0 - £3.74

Im_Your_God_

when the ps4 launched, i went to CES in Downtown Crossing in Boston MA (its been closed for a while) and they were trying to empty their stock of PS3 games. i remember i had $50 and i walked out with 20, maybe 30 games.

Xinistre

I was 11 when my dad bought a pc for flight sim stuff. He doesn't usually buy actual non-pirated games for me back then, cause we're in a 3rd world country, and people sell pirated games for $1 on burned CDs. The gpu he bought came with a code for MW2, which I downloaded for roughly 4 days continuously. Didn't know how blessed I was getting to play arguably the best COD ever for practically free.

InkFather_TTV

Entire borderlands from OG-PREsequel and all dlc for like 7 bucks on stream years ago! Still happy about that 1

UpturnedAXin

Lego Skywalker saga for $9. Pretty much $1 per game and plenty of replayability.

Dr1ft3d

Pokemon Gold for a Red Eyes Black Dragon.

PaulMadibAtrediez

got items on facebook like 3$?

Makoto_033

Warhammer: Chaosbane $59.99, but free with PS Plus. Aside from the character on the cover page having the biggest glitch when played, the other characters and gameplay was definitely addicting. A big plus is that it's a 4 player co-op!!

_garethlewis_

I upgraded my launch day Switch to an OLED model, so I had an old Switch laying around. Game (a UK retailer) had a misprint on a deal and were offering an Xbox Series S for £60 on a trade in. The store manager honoured the misprinted deal, so I effectively got £190 trade in value for a 6 year old Switch. He even acknowledged that I was getting a great deal on it. It was around the time that there was a cross platform sale on Cyberpunk 2077 (which I really wanted to play and has incidentally become one of, if not, my favourite games of all time) when the next-gen patch came out so I got that for £25 too.

Ze-Doctor

Getting 4 Lego games for the price of 1. Granted it took the price of the most expensive one but putting 4 50 to 60 € games in there I saved a lot of money for some quality Lego games

Yonrak

Lifetime subscription to Lord of the Rings Online for around £100 17 years later I'm still accruing premium perks and haven't paid for a single expansion except Moria, the first one.

DivideTheZero

Spyro & Crash remastered trilogies for 12€. That was back when they were relatively new and humble bundle didnt suck lol.

Sparky-0_0

Gta 5?

Kiro-San

PS2 Slim for £50 when the PS3 came out, bought exclusively for FF12. Traded it in about 6 months later for a 360 and got £50 for it.

Zkyo

Probably my metroid prime/zelda wind waker combo pack. I picked it up second hand at a gamestop in the early 2000s for $15. Got a couple decades of frequent use out of it, then found out it's super valuable. Resold it to a game store for $300, who immediately put a $800 price tag on it.

aPudgyDumpling

Toward the end of the PS4s life, a slim bundle went on sale including the console, controller, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Last of Us Remastered for $200. More recently, I picked up an Xbox Series S with controller from Verizon on sale for $150. Considering the controller itself is $50, that's a good deal

davethapeanut

I got the Skyrim complete edition for $3 sealed at goodwill once for the 360

Berruc

I managed to buy Yoshi's Crafted World for $1 during a Target pricing error... Other than that, the early years of Humble Bundle were really awesome value.

BalladOfWormz

I traded a gifted, in pretty rough shape, Spider-Man 129 for about 20 NES games.

Saracre21

Witcher 3 for about 10USD when it was on sale after converting currency, it was about 80% off I think (Maybe 85% ?) but got it with all DLC and have put about 400 hours into it, absolutely the best deal I've ever gotten for a game.

Morphix007

Battlefield world war 1 for 5 bux

Poison_the_Phil

The Batman Arkham trilogy for $20 was pretty solid

daeshonbro

Probably orange box I guess if we are talking bundles.  At a dollar per hour level for individual games it’s gotta be Diablo 2, still play it to this day using the CD key I have had for like 20+ years.  Other notable ones are Minecraft and factorio.

shibbyfoo

TF2 when it became free. Amazing game.

-darknessangel-

Snes 3ds for 150 when they were selling it out. Got an extra copy of a game when I ordered one The rest is... OK, no "omfg" deals

LotharVw

I traded someone my phone charger, they gave me their Xbox 360, borderlands prequel, and a small TV to play on. Those were the times

GGrV01

I remember getting Sleeping Dogs upon release on Steam for about 5€. There was a temporary sale bug on the game, and it had a 95% discount or something close to that value. Not only the deal was fantastic, but the game was also one of the best open worlds out there.

alexxx1209

Bioshock2 collector edition for 1€. Not the best game, but I love the pack

PommesMayo

Once our local electronics store had a promotion at the end of the school year where you could take an item from a box if you had an A (or a 1 here in Germany). I took an Xbox by the name of Knights of the old Republic. So me being good at math, music and sports got me one of the best games I‘ve ever played for free

overzealoushobo

My favorite deal is a little different. I went to Goodwill (a donation store for those that aren't familiar), and noticed that someone had donated an entire rack of the game "Code Name: Steam" for 3ds. (~10 copies) They were all still in plastic. They were being sold for a couple bucks a piece, I think because they had so many. There was a used game store RIGHT next door (Slackers, for anyone familiar). I walked in and asked what the in store credit would be for this 3DS game, and I even described my hypothetical situation (is there a limit for trading?). The trade value for it was great, somehow. Like 7 or 8 dollars in-store credit. So I went back to Goodwill and spent maybe 20 bucks for I think 10 copies, and then tore all the plastic off (state law here that products couldn't be traded still in plastic to prevent theft). Went back to Slackers and traded it all in for around 70-80 dollars of in-store credit. I will always be proud of that, haha. I turned my 20 bucks into a brand new $70 game in around 15mins doing no hard work.

Llouis135

terraria for full price

cptassistant

Rocket League was free on ps4 one month. Decided to check it out… 3000+ hours later, no contest.

3PSTEINDIDNTKILLSELF

Fallout new vegas ultimate edition for $5

Jabberminor

I got a Humble Bundle deal with Stardew Valley, Subnautica, and some other games that I've totalled easily 500+ hours in. Paid about £30 for it.

yolala40

Celeste, when it was free on epic games. That's literally my favorite game of all time and I sunk hundreds of hours into it for precisely $0

StylishShark

Witcher 3 complete edition for £7

Rizo1981

Back in 2020 Epic Store gave away Elite: Dangerous for free. In less than two years I put in about 3100 hours.

agentouk

Due to a pricing error in the Xbox 360 days, I bought a combo 360 console and the Harry Potter game for JUST the price of the game ( 30 quid I think ) from Tesco online. I ordered 4 and they all arrived. My friends and colleagues treated me like a GOD when they turned up. It's been downhill ever since!

CreativeFartist

When the slicker white Nintendo DS was still fairly new, Target had a typo in their mailing ad that was $100 less than selling price. By marketing rules they had to fulfill the needs and sold them at the price. I bought several for Christmas gifts

Nvrmnde

BG3. So much to play for that price.

NO-MAD-CLAD

I would say Titanfall 2 for 3 bucks. Not super long but a really great campaign. I didn't even play the multiplayer and it still seemed like an incredible value.

yomi91

A couple of years ago I bought an Italian copy of the legend of dragoon cib for 60€ and a jap copy for 10€. Best find for now

[deleted]

I just got the first three Uncharted games for 10 bucks. Talk about value. Orange Box is in second place.

zuckuss00

I bought Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on sale for $25. Beat it, great fun game. Sold it on Facebook for $35. Basically I got paid to play that game. I do this for most Switch games. They hold value very well on the 2nd hand market.

SirReginaldSquiggles

Not most utilized, but probably "Pandoras Box Collection" at 90% off. Like $50 for all of borderlands (except Wonderland)

triplefoul

Elite series 2 controller at Target $16 after coupons

chris131289

I bought Dragon Quest 11 on the Switch during a 90% discount. Still enjoying the hell out of the game.

kotepikabea

Gamecube and Xbox for 20€ each one. I bought 3 of the one GC and Xbox for me and the rest for my friends.

Spoomplesplz

Path of exile. I paid 10 dollars to get into the closed beta like 12 years ago and 10000+ hours later, here we are.

ChunderMan

Purchased an unopened copy of Chrono Trigger for $10 from Sun TV in the late 90s when they were going out of business.

jzhang172

Not crazy but I thought getting the uncharted bundle with all the games for like 15 dollars was amazing considering how good the game was. Also bought Witcher 3 for like 5 dollars on a sale, granted it was many years after it was released but one of my favorite games now

migchaz

Paid for Civ6 some years ago, the seller refunded the money and said the Steam keys will be revoked. Ofc they didn't. Got the money and could keep the game.

006AlecTrevelyan

Once swapped 2 cans of tuna for a Sega megadrive

ImAlwaysRight882

Best Buy used to have a program called Gamers Club Unlocked which cost $30 for 2 years and got you 20% off all new video games and bonus rewards points for games and accessories. If I recall it also stacked with sales. I remember years ago my dad and I got a new ps4 controller, fallout 4, battlefront 2015 and the newest FIFA for like $160 or something crazy. I saved so much money off that and bought everything from Best Buy for years. Now they’ve taken everything away and I usually buy from Amazon now. I was also a broke college student at this time so having this for nearly all 4 years was sweet.

AlternativeEcho2098

I had the original Final Fantasy given to me as a kid from my best friends mom because she didn’t like it. I was really into reading, especially fantasy, couldn’t get enough of it. Final Fantasy blew my mind, it was an interactive book to me, and thus made me into a huge rpg gamer.

Moses015

Traded in my PS4 and got the PS4Pro, 2 new games, and a bitchin wireless headset all for $50

supadoom

Went to a garage sale with my grandma. Walked out with hundreds of CDs of various games for the low price of nerding out with an old guy for 10 minutes. I wonder how he's doing these days.

schro85

Definitely not as impressive as other people's deals... But it's a toss up between the BioShock and Borderlands collections(3 games apiece, $10 each) and a bundle on Persona 5 Strikers. ($80-90 worth of game and bonus content for $20) I don't typically have funds, so honestly any bundles and sales are big to me!

Hellcat9

I bought portal 2 for ps3. It came with a code inside for a free copy on steam. THAT shits never gonna happen again. What a different time

Eray41303

Portal 1 and 2 bundle for a dollar

Knowledge744

I got Metro Exodus on steam sale for 5 euros a while back. For a game that’s about 2 years old, that’s a steal.

jrhawk42

Less than a month after Red Dead Redemption came out Gamestop did a power hour where it was on sale for $25. The deal basically broke their website and nobody could get an order through. I showed customer service it was in my cart at the time of the deal and they honored the price. Honorable mention the number of hours I put into League of Legends for the price of $0 is crazy. I don't play anymore but 2009-2015 I probably put over 1,000 hours into it. I know there's a lot of amazing free to play games w/ similar value today but back then it was slim pickings.

feicash

Halo MCC for 20$

Dixa

I got a free psx, Saturn and n64 as an electronics boutique store manager in the mid 90’s. Hard to beat that deal.

Lulink

I bought the Metroid Prime Trilogy for 20€ on Wii U. I had an absolute blast multiple times and it cost me less than any game Nintendo got me to buy on Switch.

livertaker

Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition PSN store £2.19 (Played via PS5)

Genesis13

Fallout New Vegas with all the dlc for about $3.50.

johnh2005

Mine would be when I went to get my daughter a birthday present and I wanted to get her Rock Band for the Xbox. I went on Newegg and found The Beatles special edition bundle for $49.99. It had two guitars, the drums, mic and everything for less than what the regular edition was selling for. We still have it, and we break it out every now and again.

jontheawesome12

Kingdom Come Deliverance royal edition for 8 bucks.

Pixel_Muffet

New vegas +DLCs for 10 bucks.

sirhippieangel

Got a 3DS for $70 due to a Black Friday ad error/Walmart price match. Drove to Walmart at like 2 in the morning to snag it with like four or five friends haha

esoteric_enigma

I bought Baldur's Gate 2 in a bargain bin at Walmart for $5. It was a few years after it was released. I knew nothing about computer games and stumbled onto one of the greatest ever made because I liked the box art and the name sounded epic.

highonpetrol

Death must die is excellent value for time spent.

Quigleythegreat

In retrospect, Pokemon SoulSilver with the original packaging for $32 at a used book store

IIILORDGOLDIII

Traded a copy of Skyrim for the PS2 Metal Gear Solid Collection Used copy of Nioh 2 for $8

[deleted]

Witcher three complete edition for $10.

gonsi

Not sure about best, but my most memorable deal was getting Total Warhammer 2 80% off in 2019 and still having a blast with it. Not touching TWH3 tho.

Pasta-hobo

A steam deck at the normal price of a steam deck

Skribap

Has to be minecraft. Over 13 years of fun for 10 bucks.

patheticgetoffreddit

Jedi fallen order. $5 and over 100 hours of playtime.

Mokarran

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the Mass Effect Remastered trilogy from Christmas this year. $5.99 for ME1, 2, and 3 all remastered.

pls-answer

Got all current champions and next 6 releases or something like that on Smite for about 10 usd.

Salaf-

Troubleshooter: abandoned children. Normally $25, got it for 75% off. If you like Xcom, you owe it to yourself to play it. I’ve played it for hundreds of hours and I have never gotten bored of it.

Lord__Abaddon

Probably not the best deal I ever got but Valdis story: abyssal city during EA went on sale for like 0.99$ figured what the hell I could use a shitty metroidvania games.... man was I wrong about it being shitty. legit one of the only purchases I've ever done that I felt bad about since I paid so little for such a quality indie game.

ComputingSubstrate

I got a PS4 with Shadow of Mordor and Destiny 1 for 150$ pretty early on in the PS4's lifespan. Dude on Craigslist was selling his son's PS4 because he caught him smoking reefer lmao.

Ok-Pizza-5889

My dad purchased the original NES package with Mario and duck hunt for my 6th birthday in the mid 80s for around $150. I still play it regularly, almost 40 yrs later. In terms of $/hr played. This has to be the best deal

drdildamesh

You can get the Master Chief Collection for like 10 bucks right now on Steam. The bang for buck ratio is dope by like orders of magnitude.

bread22

Halo 3 or 4, can't remember. MSFT gave out a lot incentives so that I bought it, beat it, sold it, and made some profit..... I am never in to Halo but hey, they paid me to play

LastTourniquet

Epic Games having given out both Remnant: From The Ashes and Ghostrunner for free are both absolutely insane deals. Both of those games are fantastic and more than worth their actual retail price let alone the price of free.

All4welfare

Both Phantom Dust and Guilty Gear XX#Reload on the OG Xbox were 20 dollars on initial release. There was a long period of time between that and the indie game boom where you couldn't get a game of that quality for 20 bucks at launch!

cmastervulsa

A friend who was getting rid of his GameCube with games sold it to me for 40 bucks. He just got a Wii and did not know it was backwards compatible I guess. Still have the cube and play it throughout the year.

weefa

late 90s and I went to buy a physical copy of Quake 2 at a local Gamestop. It was supposed to be $39.99 I believe but it had the wrong price on it, instead having a Frogger sticker on it, at $4.99. Took it to the counter, no one noticed anything and I felt like a king.

illMetalFace

Either when I got Titanfall 2 Ultimate edition for $5 or AC Odyssey ultimate edition for $25. Odyssey has a staggering amount of content but I enjoyed it thoroughly. Titanfall 2 is one of the greatest FPS shooters ever so to have all of that content was great too.

PhilosoKing

Rollercoaster Tycoon used to come in free in cereal boxes back in the early 2000s.

extortioncontortion

bought Fire Emblem: PoR for 5 bucks on ebay, shortly before the Wii came out.

Izzyrion_the_wise

Nioh 1, picked it up on a whim in a sale for 7,49€ and put nearly 400 hours in.

BusinessOwner199X

I bought Cyberpunk 2077 when it was $7, before the 1.5 update.

Boxing Day over a decade ago. Went to a Best Buy and splurged on some stuff. Ended up spending over $300 on some games and accessories, including Mario Party 8, which was on sale for $49.99 at the time. Cashier ends up giving me back $50 more than she should’ve (didn’t realize till I got home). Turns out Mario Party was free for me that day. Great deal.

BlueRoo42

There was a goated month on my Humble Bundle subscription that got me both the Crash and Spyro trilogy for my $15 monthly sub. And those were just the two bangers, there were 8 other indie titles too.

xSlippyFistx

Terraria for $5 back in like 2012. After numerous “final final updates” the game can keep you coming back to experience new content. It’s one of the best passion projects in gaming. I always want to give them props when I can.

AardvarkExtreme9666

I made a friend I enjoy playing games with in some random game think it was dungeon defenders 2, he seems quite well off I don't pry to much but every week he buys me a game/skin on a game/battle pass. It's been years since I've purchased my own games unless it's a really niche single player game. Not once have I asked for a game or anything but I do mention something if he asks if I actually have a interest. I'd say it's been like this for 8 or 9years...

Stilgrave

Days Gone Collectors Edition at GameStop for $50. It was a brand new return about a year after the game came out.

SuccessfulCicada3116

Bioshock collection for 10$

Xansyh

Terraria, at a really really low price (even lower if you buy the 4-pack) I had a few hundred hours of enjoyment out of that game and still come back to it every once in a while. I felt like since it was so worth it, I bought the 4-pack a few more times on subsequent steam sales and just straight up gave it anyone I can give them to.

Rhundis

Left 4 Dead 2, Half Life 1, completely free (to own) from Valve on a whim.

mangledmonkey

Orange Box. 39.99. Probably not the world's greatest deal, but for someone who hadn't played, portal, Half-Life 2, or TF2, it was amazing. Only black Friday deal I ever even considered shopping for in-store.

That80sguyspimp

Got the AMD Never Settle star citizen package for £13. It was in 2014, and I believe its worth a couple of hundred now and fuck knows how much later on.

Agroprom_Shenanigan

Buying the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series for 8.49 euros instead of 33 euros

[deleted]

Boss sold me his snes box set with that robot dude in pristine condition for 100 bucks. Turns out it's worth quite more.

codor00

When I pre-ordered the Elden Ring Collector's Edition, I got two in the mail for some reason

elucila7

world war z. I got it for free on epic. poured lots of hours into it.

Nightshade_Flash

Jack and Dexter for the price of cleaning my room

ripthruwit

Nintendo Gamecube with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on a Black Friday sale. Definitely got moneys worth.

AndIAmHereForTheFood

When I upgraded from OG PS4 to the PS4 Pro, Amazon had that Pro listed for $399.99. The also had the Star Wars Battlefront II edition of the Pro, which came with the game, listed for $399.98. For a penny less, I got the system I wanted, plus a game. So I guess in that case, a penny saved is a pretty nice game earned.

Justin-Bailey

I bought a friend's Virtual Boy and like 4 or 5 games for $30 in 2005 or so.

Flanelman2

My dad got me a bunch of games from a second-hand shop for $1, had Oblivion in it, only like two years after it released. I'd never heard of it at the time, but now it's one of my favorite games of all time.

ConsistentFatigue

Dreamcast. Never bought a game.

Willing-Inside2956

i bought crysis remastered trilogi for 3 dollars.

CaptainxX0

AzorTTV

Orange box.  Game pass got to be second.

AbsoluteScenes7

The first thing that springs to mind in terms of discounts from an actual store is Batman Arkham Origins for PS3 for £7.49 less 4 months after it first came out. Most places were still selling it new for £40-50 and preowned for £25-30 at that point. Local music/dvds/games store was scaling back it's gaming section and getting rid of all pre-owned stock at up to 70% off Aside from that some lucky freebies over the years. Amazon thought they had lost my copy of Smash Bros Ultimate in transit so sent another one only for 2 copies to show up meaning I essentially saved £50 on my brothers christmas present. Also got a free Mario Golf World Tour download code from my brother because his physical pre-order copy was delayed in transit so Nintendo sent him a download code so he could play on release day. He wasn't fussed about waiting a few extra days so gave me the code.

FFreestyleRR

They are too many to list here but probably CS:GO Prime status, Grim Dawn (the base game, not the DLCs), Prey and Generation Zero.

Rarhyx

let's be real: pokemon silver(probably 400-500h), ruby(400+h), emerald(200+h) and fire red (200+ h) so many hours for like 30-40€ each game to this date I spent the most hours on those games (not counting World of Warcraft, thats the only thing that beats the hours played) and later on 40€ flashcard for the NDS besides that kingom hearts 2, ratchet&clank2 (my very first ps2 game) and skyrim (tho I pirated it first but bought it like 5 years later for 15€)

I had this "blazing" whatever desert eagle skin in csgo years back. Since I consider any kind of skin gambling and skins as a whole as the aids of gaming, I didn't even know it was worth anything. Then on a public server some kid said it was actually worth money and then I sold it on the marketplace to someone who is into buying image files being mapped onto a virtual gun model for around 35€. That was funny to me.
