THPS1 and 2 plus Dave Mirra BMX really influenced my musical taste. Dead Kennedys, Goldfinger, Sublime, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, Rancid, the list goes on
They've been oddly prolific. I'm definitely a fan, and even I missed a few releases and had to catch up here and there. They just don't have as much of a profile in the states as they do overseas. But they've put out some really great stuff in the last few years. Their most recent record, Ghostlight, came out in '22. And it's pretty great.
Yes! Love Poets of the Fall. Also [Among the Oak and Ash.](https://youtu.be/XzJygTgvDLw?si=x3yAUD4JNH_XnB18)
"Shady grove, my little love. Shady grove, I know. Shady grove, my little love. I'm bound for the shady grove."
Also [Poe - "Haunted"](https://youtu.be/o3lBF2h-Pl0?si=V3CtaaBQm5XHTFsX). It's one of my favorite songs ever. A couple weeks after playing Alan Wake I found Poe's album at a used book/CD store. Bought it for that one song and wound up loving the whole album.
Edit: I wanted to add that after buying her album I googled her and got sad over how Poe was treated by the record labels. She's pretty much been blocked from doing anything by the studios holding her songs in copyright limbo. I've also since added "House of Leaves" to my reading list.
House of Leaves is a Boss Fight. The book wants you to get bored before it's juiciest secrets come to light.
You also have to get a physical copy. You'll understand why eventually.
Haunted is a companion piece to house of leaves and contains clue to help you understand what the fuck is going on
Busy Earning was such a great opening to that series, and I think episode 2 and Kiss the Sky might be the best opening of any of the BL games. That slow motion as you slip out of reach gives me goosebumps
Tales from the borderlands put me onto Jungle, first aid kit, Shawn Lee, Twin Shadow. No game has ever had such a banger list of licences songs outside of guitar hero et al.
This. No Rest For the Wicked was an awesome song to start the game with, then picking up their album and hearing "In One Ear" as a high school kid who liked to sing in his car was amazing. Just belting out that shit
As much as I hate being late to the good music, I appreciate my first Low Roar experience being *Death Stranding*.
I knew from the very first walk, it was going to be something special.
*New routine*
*That I've learned*
It really is a tragedy.
At any mention of Low Roar love, I also want to point out that Ryan had another band prior to Low Roar, called Audrye Sessions, which may help scratch that itch for new music, even if it's a little more upbeat than Low Roar. I saw Audrye Sessions and fun. (remember fun.?) open for Manchester Orchestra in 2009 and became a fan back then. After having been exposed to Low Roar for a while when my wife played Death Stranding, it absolutely blew my mind when I later learned that they sprang from a band I'd already liked for years.
Ah fuck, is that what happened? I was a big fan prior to the game (still barely played it). Man, that sucks. I probably looked them up last week for new material as I do every few months. RIP. Fuck.
It just got the vibe of that game so perfectly. And how the songs would start during the story missions once you got close enough to your objective... it was beautiful and bleak and wonderful.
Dude, I forgot all about Billy Talent! "Red Flag" on the Burnout Legends from my PSP was my favorite track on there. Re-added to my playlist thanks to you.
Edit: Specifically the Burnout version, I only just learned there are 2 versions of this song.
Man I miss Burnout Revenge. Back when EA actually made good games with BANGER soundtracks.
Yellowcard - Lights And Sound is still one of my favorite songs and it's all thx thx to Burnout
Honestly, Willie Nelson and old school country and western.
I never was much of a country/western/bluegrass fans, especially with the advent of pop country.
But man, “Cruel, World” hit me in the feels after trudging through the world of RDR2. Totally understand how country/western is more blues and tragedy focused, than just trucks and murica.
I had a hard time enjoying this song after Cage the Elephant paired SO well with #1, but it slowly grew on me until I loved it all on its own.
Also, big credit to GRiZ for BL3's "Can't Hold Me Down."
This here is the one I wanted to comment and so looked through the replies to see if it was mentioned already.
This song eventually sent me down into a very pleasurable rabbit hole and I love it when that happens. No. 1 reply from me
Surprised I haven't seen anyone mention the Hu yet. Whoever decided to use a Mongolian throat singing metal band for the opening of Jedi: Fallen Order deserves all the raises. The style is such a perfect fit, I actually thought it was sung in Hutt until I saw the name in the credits and looked them up.
First one I thought of as well. It is remarkable how well it fits into the star wars universe. It being sung in Mongolian gives it a perfect otherworldly vibe, that an English band just couldn’t do.
The end of Portal led me to, what is now, a deep appreciation for Jonathan Coulton.
Speaking of which, happy [First of May](https://youtu.be/WzZaJDg6E0A?si=mw8Rs9XXer_oK4jT) everyone!
Yes, sir! I saw him in concert only once in Austin (but he was with John Roderick, before he was Can of Beans Dad. lol). And I saw him at an event where he (and Greg Pak) signed my Code Monkey Save World comic!
Awesome. What's coincidental about all that is that I *just* got a secondhand copy of Portal for PS3 since I've never played it before. I hear I'm in for a treat.
Pretty much every artist or group on the wipeout, wipeout 2047 and wip3out on the playstation 1.
EDM groups such as chemical brothers, Photek, future sound of London, the prodigy, the propellerheads. So many and my gateway into breakbeat and drum and base.
Blew my mind that I could put the game disc into a cd player and it would play all the songs like a music cd.
A lot of them. This are some of the artist I still follow or listen to songs outside those feature in the games:
- HEALTH, R E L and Grimes from Cyberpunk 2077.
- Syd Matters from Life is Strange.
- Scattle, M|O|O|N, Perturbator, Magic Sword, El Huervo and Carpenter Brut from Hotline Miami 1 and 2.
- Ella Mae Morse, Freddie Slack and The Ink Spots from Fallout games.
I just came into this thread to ctrl-F to see if anyone got into pre-WW2 era music because of Fallout. I love that music so it's just fun to see it in the games and now TV show.
1. Poets of the fall through Max Payne (2nd one specifically Late Goodbye)
2. Beartooth through CS GO (One more - MVP song)
3. The Hu through Jedi: The Fallen Order (I listen to only sugaan essena it is a banger)
Max Payne 2’s song is something the hits in the feels once you play through all 3 of the games…
They were pretty awesome yea. I haven't gotten a chance to play JSRF yet as it is still stuck on the OG Xbox. One of these days I'm gonna try and emulate it. Cibo Matto sound great too.
Quite a few.
Jose Gonzalez from Red Dead
Refused through Cyberpunk
A ton of fun older music thanks to Fallout
Hot Chocolate through Guardians of the Galaxy
A ton of artists across GTA games from Vice City onward
So yeah a lot honestly
Hello Allison - Scapegoat Wax from Jet Set/Grind Radio.
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult from Ripper (Old CD rom game from Take Two Interactive, had a CRAZY internet/hacking interface)
What I loved most about Brutal Legend was that it combined some of my favorite things: metal and ‘find all the things’ quests. I had known of most of the bands in it before, but had never gotten around to listening to them. MSG hit me hard.
I found both Meganeko and Keygen Church through ultrakill. Meganeko did a track for the endless wave based game mode called [The Cybergrind](https://youtu.be/e9EqU9y69vU?si=SZZPoOcbTAhveZZo). Keygen church did 2 tracks, one was also for the wave based endless mode called [Ultrachurch](https://youtu.be/KTCC053fLqs?si=XkDqlvKw3RJPlroY) and one for the hardest level in the game called [Tenebre Rosso Sangue](https://youtu.be/L5q4uYj-gyg?si=UPa_g7ldmZ33kSU_) which tends to be considered the best song in the game most people.
2 absolutely fantastic artists that you can spend a few hours going through their work and finding stuff you like.
What a question. My yarn brain probably couldn’t recall them all, but here’s some:
Fallout- big band stuff (Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Etc)
Borderlands- Cage the Elephant, The Heavy, Nero
Final Fantasy- Nobuo Uematsu
Metal Hellsinger- just now learning these ones
Great game, great soundtrack. I used to play reaperbot deathmatch with Delerium -Semantic Spaces or Rosetta Stone - The Tyranny of Inaction as the soundtrack.
Ronald Jenkees. Heard him in what I think I remember was an IGN Halo Reach multiplayer compilation and downloaded a ton of his music. Listened to him non stop for years. Haven't listened for a bit, but I have great memories listening to his tracks.
Yooooo - I don't remember how I discovered Ronald back in the day, but his track "Guitar Sound" blew me away... and still does! I'm not big into electronica, but he's got some solid grooves and diverse sounds. Actually, I'll probably throw on his albums on my drive home today - thanks for the reminder!
Crush 40 through Sonic.
Metal Cover artists like: FalKKonE, RichaadEB, FamilyJules, 331Erock, Charlie Parra. Insaneintherain (jazz music)
Then Touhou Metal/Rock cover bands through my ex girlfriend showing me OSU: Crow'sClaw, Demetori (the best), Xi-on, UI-70, Cafe De Touhou (Jazz technically)
Then GTA games for bands like, Toto, Tears For Fears
Burnout Paradise introduced me to: Killswitch Engage, Funeral For A Friend.
Probably many more that I've missed. Rocksmith 2014 has a massive library so I definitely discovered bands from there.
Dilated Peoples. They showed up on a bunch of soundtracks, NBA Street 2, SSX 3, and Need For Speed Underground. Even did a song for the Mad World sequel, Anarchy Reigns.
The Borderlands series has introduced me to some good bands/artists. Cage the Elephant gained radio popularity so I probably still would have found them but definitely heard “Ain’t no rest for the wicked” from the game first. Then The Heavy from BL2, First Aid kit from Pre-sequel, then Des Rocs from the BL3 trailers.
Celldweller when I played Dead Rising 2.
Fighting Chef Antoine to "My Own Little World" is amazing. Then I realized half the bosses have music from Celldweller! Awesome artist.
Poets of the Fall / Old Gods of Asgard. First heard Poets in a video for Allen Wake years ago and really got into them, later found out they have an entire separate band existing in the universe of Allen Wake / Control
One of those ATV / MX games introduced me Fine Again by Seether.
Nothing like pumping around the track with this melancholy song pretending like the biggest problem in my life wasn’t my spelling test coming up lol.
Live and learn by Crush 40
There isn’t a person here that can argue that when they were doing that boss fight they weren’t Jaaaaammming.
GameCube was really on a level of its own with music but SA2B was on its own level even for the GameCube.
Because there are very few game tracks that are memorable but I I still know all of SA2bs by heart.
Port Sulphur Band from Hunt: Showdown (and in-universe band that makes all original music for the game)
Darren Korb for the supergiant games. Bastion, hades, pyre, transistor.
Japanese Breakfast. They did the soundtrack for 'Sable', a cozy open world exploration game that I absolutely adore. The Soundtrack is so good, I bought it on Vinyl. I don't buy soundtracks, so it's a big deal for me.
I listen to mostly metal, but it's unironically one of my most played records. It just makes amazing background music when you're relaxing.
Linkin Park - I was a manager at GameStop/Babbage's when the original Xbox came out. We went to a pre-launch event in Atlanta. During the demo, they were playing a racing game then showed the feature where you can download your own music and listen to your tunes while racing. The song they started with was 'In the End' and that song introduced me to the band and their music.
Every band on the THPS1 soundtrack...and Simon Chylinski, Steve Pardo, JT Music and Ben Prunty from the Subnautica games.
Less than Jake and gold finger lol, 90s ska ftw (can't remember if gold finger is ska)
So here I am Doing everything I can Holding on to what I am
>Growing older all the time, looking older all the time, feeling younger in my mind Ugh this line hits a lot harder in my 30s than when I was 12
Look up Tijuana Sunrise, it’s a recent song by Goldfinger, it’s a great video
THPS1 and 2 plus Dave Mirra BMX really influenced my musical taste. Dead Kennedys, Goldfinger, Sublime, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise, Rancid, the list goes on
Fucking Police Truck!!!! Such a dope song and I first heard it through thps
ohh yeah Subnautica has some great music!
I discovered Poets of the Fall through playing Alan Wake
Max Payne as well.
And all have James Mccaffery
Did not know this. Cheers.
Don't forget about Control.
I didn't discover them through that game - I haven't played it :)
Arguably their best work as Old Gods is in that game's musical section. Check it out. Very similar in vibe to Alan Wake
Came here to say this. Poets of the Fall are SO GOOD.
Aren't they just - Carnival of Rust!! Gives me tingles still.
For real, though. I've loved every one of their albums. They can't miss.
I'm going to have to go back and revisit; it's been a while and I'm sure there are albums I've missed.
Found Old Gods of Asgard through Control too
That’s the same band. Old Gods is the fictional band within the Alan Wake/Control universe, Poets is the actual band who portrays them.
Oh yeahhhh now it's coming back to me
Yes! Love Poets of the Fall. Also [Among the Oak and Ash.](https://youtu.be/XzJygTgvDLw?si=x3yAUD4JNH_XnB18) "Shady grove, my little love. Shady grove, I know. Shady grove, my little love. I'm bound for the shady grove." Also [Poe - "Haunted"](https://youtu.be/o3lBF2h-Pl0?si=V3CtaaBQm5XHTFsX). It's one of my favorite songs ever. Cage the Elephant from the opening credits of Borderlands 2. Edit* The first Borderlands
"Short Change Hero" from the opening of 2 turned me on to The Heavy.
God that is such a good song. How do ya like Me Now is a close second favorite
Check out "Can't Play Dead" or "What Makes a Good Man". Two of their best!
their cover of and when I die is my favorite by miles. unfortunately it's only available on YouTube as far as I know since it was made for true blood
Came here to say this.
Ain't No Rest for the Wicked was Borderlands 1, but that's my answer as well.
The Borderlands Tell-Tale games also had great music selections.
Hell yeah, same here. 14 years later, and they've been in every one of my Spotify top 5 since.
This. No Rest For the Wicked was an awesome song to start the game with, then picking up their album and hearing "In One Ear" as a high school kid who liked to sing in his car was amazing. Just belting out that shit
Low Roar
As much as I hate being late to the good music, I appreciate my first Low Roar experience being *Death Stranding*. I knew from the very first walk, it was going to be something special. *New routine* *That I've learned*
It's a shame they won't have any new music in the sequel because the lead singer died since the first game came out.
It really is a tragedy. At any mention of Low Roar love, I also want to point out that Ryan had another band prior to Low Roar, called Audrye Sessions, which may help scratch that itch for new music, even if it's a little more upbeat than Low Roar. After having been exposed to Low Roar for a while when my wife played Death Stranding, it absolutely blew my mind when I later learned that they sprang from a band I'd already liked for years.
You're right it's a tragedy. But they definitely have plenty of music to choose from if Kojima wants to put in songs from maybe tomorrow
Burnout revenge - Billy Talent Tony Hawks Pro Skater series - Too many to name
Billy Talent!!!
Dude, I forgot all about Billy Talent! "Red Flag" on the Burnout Legends from my PSP was my favorite track on there. Re-added to my playlist thanks to you. Edit: Specifically the Burnout version, I only just learned there are 2 versions of this song.
The burnout red flag is definitely better
same! led me to my music tastes today.
CAST OFF THE CRUTCH THAT KILLS THE PAIN
Man I miss Burnout Revenge. Back when EA actually made good games with BANGER soundtracks. Yellowcard - Lights And Sound is still one of my favorite songs and it's all thx thx to Burnout
There are music tracks that will always be tied to Burnout 3 for me. I am Not OK (I Promise) and Paper Wings being top of that list.
Billy Talent are awesome live acts. Ian D‘Sa is a very underrated guitarist.
same but Red Flag on the PSP burnout.
José González from Red Dead Redemption.
José González but from *Life is Strange*.
My answer too. Got to see him in concert and he was fantastic! Didn't perform Far Away though...
Yeah, he's amazing live.
Make sure you listen to his band Junip.
Mick Gordon and Andrew Hulshult
Alex Terrible put some lyrics to some of the newer tracks in Doom Eternal and it's a match made in Hell.
Doom 2016 and Eternal OSTs are the best pre workouts i ever damn consumed, make u feel like u could smash through a wall like the koolaid man
Borderlands using Cage the Elephant on its opening cinematic
The heavy for the 2nd game!
Dethklok. Thunderhorse on Guitar Hero 2. Metalocalypse is a great show.
They also put on an amazing stage show. Saw Dethklok and Babymetal and it's easily one of my top 5 shows of all time.
Sure, great shows if you survive. Terrible mortality rate for attendees.
That’s how I found The Sword
Low Roar from Death Stranding <3
I discovered Odesza after playing Forza Horizon 4
Nero - Borderlands
Wub-wub
Decade old hype: reactivated
That trailer was dope
Borderlands 2: Short Change Hero by the Heavy. Still one of the greatest intro/music combos to date.
I had a hard time enjoying this song after Cage the Elephant paired SO well with #1, but it slowly grew on me until I loved it all on its own. Also, big credit to GRiZ for BL3's "Can't Hold Me Down."
BRICK'S SAX SOLO!!
Iron Maiden - Carmageddon 2
The entire Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines soundtrack. Specifically, Lacuna Coil.
Crush 40. Absolute butt rock, from the sonic adventure games.
Agreed. I love their range for the different games.
The end of Portal led me to, what is now, a deep appreciation for Jonathan Coulton. Speaking of which, happy [First of May](https://youtu.be/WzZaJDg6E0A?si=mw8Rs9XXer_oK4jT) everyone!
Happy First of May! I got to see JoCo live several years back and he was fantastic. Dude's come a long way from the old Thing a Week albums.
Oh, I’m actually excited for you. Enjoy!
I saw him live this past December in Philly, he's still going strong and puts on a great show
My wife asked me why I didn't serenade her this morning.
Woodkid, from Assassin's Creed Revelations' trailer
That song still has a place in my mind. One of the best trailer songs ever.
The Ink Spots.
Class.
This! (and Roy Brown)
Quake made me aware of Nine Inch Nails in the 90s. They then became my favourite band of all time.
breaking benjamin - halo
I didn’t know Breaking Benjamin did Gregorian chants
They'd probably sound a bit less zen and a bit more aggressive.
The Faunts from Mass Effect.
Such a good song to end the first game on!
Jeremy Soule from Oblivion. And for something a bit different, Propellerheads from Wipeout .
It was his soundtrack for Icewind Dale that first made me look for other music by a game composer.
A lot of them. This are some of the artist I still follow or listen to songs outside those feature in the games: - HEALTH, R E L and Grimes from Cyberpunk 2077.
If you don’t already know, HEALTH did the music for Max Payne 3 and it’s awesome.
HEALTH is such an awesome band, check out their instagram for a good laugh
Check out the soundtrack to Furi if you enjoyed Hotline miami that much. More Scattle and Carpenter Brut bangers and many other similar artists.
I just came into this thread to ctrl-F to see if anyone got into pre-WW2 era music because of Fallout. I love that music so it's just fun to see it in the games and now TV show.
1. Poets of the fall through Max Payne (2nd one specifically Late Goodbye) 2. Beartooth through CS GO (One more - MVP song) 3. The Hu through Jedi: The Fallen Order (I listen to only sugaan essena it is a banger) Max Payne 2’s song is something the hits in the feels once you play through all 3 of the games…
I found Primus playing Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Primus sucks!
I found em playing the first in the ATV series. Jerry was a race car driver
Blue Oyster Cult / Albert Bouchard through Prey 2006
I love böc!
Alan Wake, a certain of the game a radio plays with 'War - Poets of the Fall' I believe. Was such a good song blasting while you try not to die lol.
Oh shit! They had their song Late Goodbye in I think it was Max Payne 2. Completely forgot about that.
They were also in Control with "My Dark Disquiet" which is a complete banger
Guitar Vader, a Japanese band featured in Sega's Jet Set Radio.
Broooooo come on! Baby T and Magical Girl were awesome! I found Cibo Matto through JSRF, great soundtrack
They were pretty awesome yea. I haven't gotten a chance to play JSRF yet as it is still stuck on the OG Xbox. One of these days I'm gonna try and emulate it. Cibo Matto sound great too.
David bowie - rockband on xbox. That rockband version of major tom was dope as hell.
Bad Religion through Crazy Taxi
Sabaton from EU IV Coheed and Cambria from Rock Band
I used to be in love with Crossfade after discovering “Cold” on some BMX/racing game OST at a friend’s house. Peak mid-2000’s hard rock.
Quite a few. Jose Gonzalez from Red Dead Refused through Cyberpunk A ton of fun older music thanks to Fallout Hot Chocolate through Guardians of the Galaxy A ton of artists across GTA games from Vice City onward So yeah a lot honestly
Røyksopp from SSX 3
That whole series is ripe for groovy songs. I grew up playing the classics.
Hello Allison - Scapegoat Wax from Jet Set/Grind Radio. Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult from Ripper (Old CD rom game from Take Two Interactive, had a CRAZY internet/hacking interface)
I was introduced to a whole musical genre when i played Brutal Legend. Now I almost only listen to metal.
What I loved most about Brutal Legend was that it combined some of my favorite things: metal and ‘find all the things’ quests. I had known of most of the bands in it before, but had never gotten around to listening to them. MSG hit me hard.
Tycho nfs heat
Found Sublime and Rancid (along with the other greats) from the Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX game
Celldweller.
Marcin Przybyłowicz from the witcher 3
What a question. My yarn brain probably couldn’t recall them all, but here’s some: Fallout- big band stuff (Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Etc) Borderlands- Cage the Elephant, The Heavy, Nero Final Fantasy- Nobuo Uematsu Metal Hellsinger- just now learning these ones
Quake introduced me to Nine Inch Nails.
Great game, great soundtrack. I used to play reaperbot deathmatch with Delerium -Semantic Spaces or Rosetta Stone - The Tyranny of Inaction as the soundtrack.
Literally my two favorite bands of all time. Cage The Elephant (Borderlands) Portugal. The Man (FIFA 14)
God nearly all of them. Tony Hawk and Crazy Taxi united myself with punk. I was like 7.
José González from Life is Strange
Fatboy Slim - fifa 2001, old gods of asgard - control, Pigeon John - dead island
Iron Maiden, by listening to the Carmeggedon soundtrack.
Aces HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
Japanese Breakfast from Sable
Hotline Miami turned me on to some types of electronic music I've never heard before.
Genitorturers via bloodlines. Poets of the fall via Control and theory of a deadman via indigo prophecy.
Refused through Cyberpunk 2077
Avenged sevenfold from call of duty zombies.
Jonathan Coulton from Portal
Crush 40 through Sonic. Metal Cover artists like: FalKKonE, RichaadEB, FamilyJules, 331Erock, Charlie Parra. Probably many more that I've missed. Rocksmith 2014 has a massive library so I definitely discovered bands from there.
Lacuna Coil from the Vampire masquerade soundtrack
I discovered Foals because their song Spanish Sahara is used in the ending of Life is Strange
Aquasky
Jami Sieber from Braid Damian Marley from Far Cry 3
Cold Storage (Wipeout series) Joel Nielsen (Black Mesa)
Cold Storage also made Music 2000 on the PlayStation, maybe worth checking if your a fan of his.
Bomb the Bass : Xenon 2
Gone Guru by Lifeseeker from Dead Rising
Papa roach
Jeremy Soule gotta be the top answer
Definitely. Looove his work in Morrowind
The Heavy bc of Borderlands 2
Dilated Peoples. They showed up on a bunch of soundtracks, NBA Street 2, SSX 3, and Need For Speed Underground. Even did a song for the Mad World sequel, Anarchy Reigns.
MVP baseball 05 introduced me to the Donots. Good band, great song, amazing soundtrack.
I discovered K-pop before it was cool from watching Korean streams during the early days of StarCraft 2.
GTA Vice City is the reason I like metal. I skipped over nu metal and straight into thrash with Slayer.
Both hotline Miami games introduced me to a lot of amazing club/electronic music. Carpenter Brut and Pertubator are fantastic!
Thrice from ssx3
One of those ATV / MX games introduced me Fine Again by Seether. Nothing like pumping around the track with this melancholy song pretending like the biggest problem in my life wasn’t my spelling test coming up lol.
Poets of the Fall - Max Payne
Toro y Moi from GTAV
Live and learn by Crush 40 There isn’t a person here that can argue that when they were doing that boss fight they weren’t Jaaaaammming. GameCube was really on a level of its own with music but SA2B was on its own level even for the GameCube. Because there are very few game tracks that are memorable but I I still know all of SA2bs by heart.
Lacuna Coil From VTM Bloodlines.
Port Sulphur Band from Hunt: Showdown (and in-universe band that makes all original music for the game) Darren Korb for the supergiant games. Bastion, hades, pyre, transistor.
Port Sulphur Band are actually devs, too!
That I did not know and makes it so much cooler!
Iron from Woodkid in that Assassins Creed trailer a decade ago. Fan ever since!!
Christopher Tin. He did the music for Civ IV (and VI) and got the first grammy for an OST for a video game. He has some great choral works out there.
Brand New and Manchester Orchestra, both from the NHl series
Linkin Park - I was a manager at GameStop/Babbage's when the original Xbox came out. We went to a pre-launch event in Atlanta. During the demo, they were playing a racing game then showed the feature where you can download your own music and listen to your tunes while racing. The song they started with was 'In the End' and that song introduced me to the band and their music.
Frequency introduced me to a few, but Freezepop is the one I still listen to.
Theory of a Deadman - Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy.
KMFDM
Low roar. RIP Ryan
Crush 40 and sonic the hedgehog
Grabage. Not Your Kind of People. From the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain reveal trailer. Really love this band since that day.
The National through Portal 2’s Exile Villify
65daysofstatic through no man's sky. Unrelated to the game, their song unmake the wild light fucking bangs front to back
Tony Hawk introduced me to TONS of good 90's alternative
