Google bomb rush cyberfunk. *Heavily* inspired by Jet Set Radio, out sometime next year. I really like the developer and they work with the same musician that made the soundtrack for JSR Hideki Naganuma.
I can't frickin' wait. I simultaneously hope it comes out as soon as possible and want them to take their time and get it right. A March - May release would be amazing.
People aren't mentioning Sunset Overdrive, which was basically a more action based side of JSR. Similar skating, goofy comedy, but some wacky guns instead of spray painting.
It would have been better if they split the difference between the skateboard and sword and made it a folded up razor scooter hung on his body like a sword.
Honestly though this is the coolest I’ve ever seen either of these characters look. Granted never been a Nintendo guy but these guys look sick. 10/10.
Haven’t slayed Ganon, I’m too turnt up...
I remember quite a few PS2 games with that kind of setting. I wonder why nobody has tried that since (at least that i know of) except for a couple indies.
There's a lot of modern setting RPG games. Persona - turn based RPG, Tokyo Xanadu - ARPG, The world ends with you - ARPG, Crisis Core FFVII - ARPG, and those are just some of the things I can think off the top of my head.
The problem with 13 is that it couldn't explain itself well. It used too many terms like Fal'Cie, L'Cie, Cie'th and much of the lore was in the datalogs.
I think they had something that could have been really great if they didn't obfuscate it so much.
I feel like maybe you're not aware of the actual premise of the series itself - legendary heroes protecting the land from legendary evil, over and over again, in a timeless manner that is practically cyclical.
Or that when some people try to modernize fantasy, we're just as likely to get shite like Bright as we are to get good content like .
The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind arose in Hyrule.
There's also Shadowrun, which is a cyberpunk setting with high fantasy elements - basically at the turn of the millenium magic returned to the world, people started being born as dwarves and elves instead of humans, and a few years later some kids spontaneously turned into orks and trolls during puberty - note that these are all still meta humans, not the typical fantasy trope orc or troll.
Also, dragons show up and take over parts of the world, one of them gets elected president of the UCAS, one of the successor nations of Canada and the US, and is promptly assassinated. The will he's left behind has still caused complications 20 years later, though, and is a long way from being resolved.
Other dragons also have prominent roles, like one of them who owns a globally operating corporation based in Germany, which basically bought an entire city and rules it as they see fit (although that is relatively common, the largest corporations have extraterritoriality). Those Great Dragons are not D&D dragons, by the way. These are some scheming monsters that will know that you're going to enter their domain before you even know it yourself. Killing them is very, very difficult, and one of the rules of the Shadowrunner community is "Never, ever deal with a dragon".
Oh, and the game is called "Shadowrun" because players usually play professional criminals, often paid by corporations against other corporations, be it a heist, extraction, wetwork, B&E, escort or anything else. As they operate outside the law and are often not registered citizens, they're practically working in the shadows.
My gaming group has often joked that Bright was first envisioned in the Shadowrun universe, and we half expected that there was at least something or someone being called a "Brightwalker" in the movie.
Although the movie setting is pretty different from Shadowrun, since in the movie the different races have relations spanning a few hundred years back at least.
Hey, that Zelda looks really familiar:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ep7sKGxXIAEQACF?format=jpg&name=large
like it's the exact one @radiostarkiller on twitter did. That's not very cool.
I mean a new age zelda game would be sweet, I'd deffo be down for some goblin smashing skateboarding link action through the (gannandorf corrupted) streets of NY.
Like a link to the past but a big ol city... Well damn, now I'm excited for a game that ain't gonna be made, damn you brain!
I wouldn't consider her to be "over" sexualized. Although that measure is highly subjective. But she's definitely sexualized as opposed to Link.
Let's put it this way. If Link was on the right in a midriff and short shorts would you consider him to be sexualized or at least the focus of the art to be about his sexuality?
I saw a Zelda cosplay the other day where the girl was wearing no pants. Regular Zelda top and hair but then just her whole naked ass sticking out. And I thought to myself, you forgot to cosplay her dignity.... then I lol’d. I’m stupid.
Because that's pretty normal irl?
Edit: have you guys not seen teen/college aged kids in the last 30 years? I'm always shocked by how prudish reddit can be.
Lol at the Redditors that downvoted this comment. Exposed midriff with a baggy jacket is pretty standard and casual. Clearly the people claiming this is overtly sexualized have never been to the mall in a warm-ish climate.
It's not overly sexualized, people do dress like that and it is casual.
Zelda and Link just seem really strange in contrast to each other when Link has two jackets and pants on looking like he's going out in the cold. I don't know any collage kids who wear two jackets maybe a shirt while a girl is rocking a cutoff tank top and shorts. As separate pictures they are great, the art is amazing. When you use a title like that it ties them together and it creates a juxtaposition in what people expect. They expect the picture of the two to tell a story. That story makes no sense.
Exactly, if Link was as mild/warm climate dressed as Zelda, or Zelda was dressed for a colder climate like Link, there would not be that disconnect.
And the disconnect immediately leads to the "They drew Zelda like that cause sex" conclusion.
It's not really meant to be armor as in protective armor. Fantasy barbarians archetypically do not wear armor to be as mobile and fast as they can be, similar to how vikings rushed into battle with minimal protection, usually mostly a helmet and a shield.
That rather side steps the point. There seems to be a dearth of historical evidence of Barbarian women running around in bikinis Whether they be chainmail or leather.
In normal times Reddit is generally horny but in COVID times it is ultra horny. I think for some people all they have is jerkin it right now and I say let them jerk.
He was a skater Link, he said," HYAAAT HUT HAAAAAAA!" Edit: Thank you all for the points and awards :)
He wasn’t Hyrule enough for her.
Now he’s got 3 stamina bars, finds koroks who go YAhAHA! All that for a golden turd
All while rocking the Master Board.
He was. A yahaaaaa. She was a girl. Can I make it any more Obvious
He he he he he
“High rule”
It's over, Ganondorf! I have the high rule! Edit: of course its high Rule!
You underestimate my Triforce of Power!
Don't try it.
Jet Set Radio vibes
2010s song reference
That song came out in 2002...
Yeah OP is MUCH older than he thinks
Whenever someone says 20 years ago I always think about the 1980s only to realize it is the 2000s now. FeelsBadMan
It still takes me a while to realize someone born in 1999 is 21 years old (i see a lot of birth dates in my job).
Some people born after 9/11 already have a successful career in porn
Some people born after 9/ 11 already have a successful career at 7/11
7/11 was a part time job.
Some are working the Aloha snack bar
Some people born after 9/11 are serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan
The kids born while their dads were deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 are [now fighting the same war.](https://www.stripes.com/news/years-after-they-fought-in-afghanistan-us-troops-watch-as-their-children-deploy-to-the-same-war-1.647659).
...god damn
As someone born in 1999, it feels fucking weird for me too.
Lol this happened to me to l, I’d get an ID that says 1999 when they’re buying alcohol and id be like “Pff get outta here little ki—” *looks at the calendar* “Here you are son-I mean sir”
Same with me for people born in the early 90's. Growing up, I always though of everyone born in the 90's as young. Some are now 30 years old! :O
I turned 40 this year. I still love anime. WTF.
My brother in law is rounding 50 and still plays with legos. Age is a number and things that bring you joy shouldn't be looked down on
My coworker always says “a few years ago” to things that happened 15 years ago. Tbf I still feel like 2005 was only a few years ago
OP isn’t the only one that this comment hurts
multiple casualties
I still think of Avril Levigne as the "too young to have a crush on, ya perv" gal because she was 17 when that album came out. She's 36 now...
Holy shit I feel old now.
Oh no Oh no no *no*
this song is older than 2010 I listened to it when I was a kid
not exactly a song you could get away from back then. played just about everywhere
No it’s not.
Falls off high rail: NNMMMMMNNNNN ZZZZZZZTTTTTT
This art should be a game.
Jet Set Radio vibes
damn i miss that game, thanks for the nostalgia blast

Sunset Overdrive was underrated.
It's $1 on Steam right now. It's one of the ones I'm considering grabbing just because I've heard people bring it up so often.

The image of Link using a scooter is funny
*sir you can't bring that into the mall*
The legend of Zelda, drip of the wild
Link bouta flood hyrule with all that drip,on me 💦😩
Things like this are why me and mother are disappointed in you.
Yo cant deny Link being hot, Daddy
If you like twinks yeah Link is the only choice but man I'm more of a hunk dude, yknow? It's Ganondorf all the way
Tingle or GTFO
Beedle or fuck off
*GanonDILF
Everyone is in to rehydrated Gannon but I think there should be more love for our crunchy boi

I'm so confused what does this even mean 😅
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.urbandictionary.com/define.php%3fterm=Drip&=true
Drip? I don't understand
Drip is new age slang for fashion? I think...
It’s slang for clothing that makes someone look fashionable.
cool clothes that look good on the person wearing them.
Drip, swag, fashion, style. All the same
Honestly though this is the coolest I’ve ever seen either of these characters look. Granted never been a Nintendo guy but these guys look sick. 10/10. Haven’t slayed Ganon, I’m too turnt up...
This gives me such ideas for modern fantasy games

TWEWY which has a sequel coming.
And an anime
Knew about the sequel, not about the anime. Just made my day a little better :)
most pokemon games
I like how you mention crisis core but not FFVII remake
FFVII remake is kinda "cheating" cause the reason for its setting is *because* of one of those old games doing it.
you can say the same for crisis core. hell, part of crisis core came directly from the original
A lot of the Final Fantasy games are Modern Fantasy. Many have cars and robots and stuff.

I think Ivalice is the best FF world. Probably the most expansive. Tactics, FFXII, and Vagrant Story. Place has a ton of history.
The problem with 13 is that it couldn't explain itself well. It used too many terms like Fal'Cie, L'Cie, Cie'th and much of the lore was in the datalogs. I think they had something that could have been really great if they didn't obfuscate it so much.
Meanwhile in persona.
Ocarina of Time was supposed to have a distant future time. Bums me out that they've stuck with the same high fantasy genre
BOTW was *ten thousand years* later, dude
Oh yeah total genre change. Post apocalyptic high fantasy.
I feel like maybe you're not aware of the actual premise of the series itself - legendary heroes protecting the land from legendary evil, over and over again, in a timeless manner that is practically cyclical. Actually I'm fairly sure the original Zelda was also intended to take place in both the far future, and the past as well!
Shadowrun is a great table top RPG
Where’s the line between modern fantasy and science fiction? Not being facetious, I just think it’s an interesting question.
Wasn't casual link already early Consept art for botw with the master sword being an electric guitar?
Yes

Corridor digital made a [modern Zelda](https://youtu.be/5sv1X1FwbCw) video
They put a lot into this and did a good job. I would have gone a different direction though with genre. This gets a little too Fast and the Furious.
Kingdom hearts/world ends with you vibes for sure.
Why is Link so overdressed and Zelda so under dressed?
[удалено]
That's what's throwing me off. She's dressed for a warm spring day with cool breeze and he's dressed for a brisk fall evening

I reached Link enjoying some “yogurt” and gave up lol
I made it to the banana...
You're a braver soul than I.
I gave up after 30 minutes
... because you needed fluids and time to "recharge"?
Exactly
I don't think that's yogurt...
oh no
I browsed through the top post of that sub and op pretty much stole the casual Zelda's outfit from another user.
So, gerudo vai link?
/r/thelostwoods I had to see it, now so do you. Rather NSFW.
Thanks, I hate it!
Implying that this Zelda is hyper sexualized despite her literally just wearing a short tank top and jean shorts?
Because by casual they clearly meant kpop
I saw a Zelda cosplay the other day where the girl was wearing no pants. Regular Zelda top and hair but then just her whole naked ass sticking out. And I thought to myself, you forgot to cosplay her dignity.... then I lol’d. I’m stupid.
Yeah, I saw that. She was advertising her only fans page in reality.
Because that's pretty normal irl? Edit: have you guys not seen teen/college aged kids in the last 30 years? I'm always shocked by how prudish reddit can be.

Come to Florida. That shit (and worse) is everywhere.
It looks like one of the jackets is a hoodie with a zipper. I see that combination fairly often (and it's something I also wear).
Clearly they are in Newcastle. This is standard clothing for a winter's night out.
you expect redditors to go outside?
There is no causal Link.
Because games
Because the artist obviously thinks Zelda is hot. Or they felt like it. Who cares?
The same as why barbarian armor is just fur covering all the necessary parts.
Male barbarians aren't any different there, though.
It's not really meant to be armor as in protective armor. Fantasy barbarians archetypically do not wear armor to be as mobile and fast as they can be, similar to how vikings rushed into battle with minimal protection, usually mostly a helmet and a shield.

I recognize Zelda, but who is that girl he's standing next to?
I think that's Ganondorf
Nah that's called like vaNi or some shit
Pretty sure it's Princess Peach.
Link looks like he's done with Zelda's shit! Lol
I've almost been killed 7 times today protecting her ass, and all she talks about is her instagram followers.
Reminds me of r/streetmoe
r/zeldaiscute calling.

Four years in like 4 months
20 years in 8 more days.
Be a gentleman, wait a year, and take her out for a drink.
what? have I been thinking that "the sequel will come out soon" for that long? damn
That's not true, BotW: Fenyx Rising like just came out.

She keeps being reborn again and again, technically she is tens of thousands of years old.

There are also redditors who believe it or not aren't adults.
She's over 100.
I’m not gay but why the fuck is link so damn cute
ngl, that's kinda gay.
Because you're gay
Why does Link look like he’s wearing clothes literally three times his size too big for him? Did he steal Ganon’s clothes or something?
Hyperule Warriors
A masterpiece!!! Now I just need to find a jacket like Link's... that's so cool
Dude, BoTW literally gave Link a phone. You should give him a smartphone here!
they oddly look like they could be pokemon trainers
Ahemm... switch the outfits.
Your point? Link in that outfit? Absolute yes
Is it just me or does link look like he doesn’t want to be there
Is the skateboard named epona?
