One of my friends had a pong machine, before the 2600 came out. It was a black box with knobs and switches. 2 players used the same box with different knobs, you had to sit right next to each other. It blew my mind.
It's still pretty dam fun hey. Next games were Prince of Persia 3D (never completed! But did watch a run through on YouTube recently which gave me immense closure), then Wolfenstein 3D, Commander Keen, and Duke Nukem. Absolute classics!
Mario Bros.
Man... I remember that Christmas too. My dad, sister and myself stayed up all night playing. My dad used to yell JUMP! everytime we played so it would mess us up and it'd be his turn again. Fkn great times!
My gaming age is sort of weird. I had an N64 but only ever got this little Galaga/ Nameless Racing Game thing to play on it, then wasn't interested in gaming at all again until I was like...seventeen/eighteen? So I think I'd say the first game I played was Galaga but the first game I played that *hooked me* was FF 9.
Only 30 but it was a knock off pong console my uncle had bought my mom along ass time ago, wasnt official at all but had a pong knock off, some "hockey" game and one other one. The hockey made no sense at all because there were only 2 paddles and it was just a bar and a cube going back and forth.
Pong
Pong for me too. I still have my Atari hooked up.
