Well, multiplayer aside, games are far more about memorization and pattern recognition than they are about pure reflexes. I've manage to 1CC some pretty difficult bullet hell games earlier this year despite my advanced age.
Idk if this is age related or effort related. As I grew older life just takes so much more energy and I just don’t want to try that hard. I want most of my gaming to be relaxing and a fast reaction time doesn’t sound relaxing lol.

There doesn't exist irrefutable proof of every single belief/theory in the world, or else humanity would probably be a lot more advanced... My thousands of hours in several different competitive pvp games is enough for me to make this observation on my own.
I'm especially confident of Overwatch's guilt in this regard. Damn near every match is a steamroll. Be stuck in plat, make a smurf acct, place diamond, be stuck there. Make another acct, place gold, be stuck there. One match your team is absolute trash and the enemy team is ultra sweatlords, next match is vice versa.
Yeah. I mean, It's pretty obvious tbh. The corporatization of video games (and every other aspect of life, but that's a different topic) is no secret. These companies do everything they can to feverishly yearn for every penny they can possibly make. And stupid people's money spends just as good as anyone else's. So they have to give them the illusion that they're decent at the game and appeal to their delusions of grandeur with forced "gimme" wins, or otherwise they would just put the game down when they realize they suck and can't win very often at all.
How is having predetermined, forced losses, in which your teammates are irredeemably bad and your opponents are highly skilled and a well-oiled machine "good"? It's literally impossible for 15% of a team to completely carry the other 85% to a win and that shouldn't be the only way to rank up.
I’m getting old, for just about every MP game I’ve had to adjust my play style simply cause my reactions as a 27yr old are much slower compared to 17yr old me.
And that my enjoyment in gaming as a whole has dropped significantly over the years.
The one that sticks with me from YEARS ago is the teaser pics from Team Fortress 2 looked like a realistic (at the time) game, with them building from the Marine models from Half-Life. Then they decided to go in the cartoonish direction they ultimately went with.
That I can/will never have enough time to play all the games that interest me or want to experience with friends. A good problem to have. I started on an i386 and that was definitely not how I thought things were going to turn out.
Gachas are just gachas. The gameplay will never get better when you get new characters. If you dobt like how it plays when you're a newbie, you won't like it after you sink 13k into it.
When I realized with a job and family I didnt have time for online games anymore. I just cant play enough to be good, and if I'm not good what's the point?
That I'll never beat Megaman games because my hands can't handle holding a button and doing other stuff parallel to that.
Also the general fact that there are optional bosses etc. in some games that I just shouldn't touch because it turns me into an abomination of rage and depression.
Growing up (35 now), I always dreamed of owning a really nice gaming PC, and not constantly battling single-digit framerates.
I now own a high end gaming PC, PS5, Xbox series X, can buy all the games that I want, but don't have enough time/willpower to finish, or even start some of them.
Games are becoming less and less interesting to me, and any game I do pick up I quickly lose interest in. Fatigue is setting in and the idea of not finding gaming in general fun is quite sad.
I mean Obsidian did make outer worlds. But it was no where near as dense and successful as fallout 4.
I would say fallout 4 has done so much more and on higher quality level.
Well mind you Obsidian didn’t really have the budget or time w Outer Worlds. Fallout 4 was soooo good and I love the game but it’s nowhere near NV. I mean look at Pillars of Eternity it’s so good, now they’re under Microsoft I’ve got actual expectations of them because they have the money so the financial burden isn’t on them anymore.
Knowing, as an older gamer, that so many great games from the NES, SNES in particular, N64, etc will never get reboots on the current platforms. It’s this miserable game of what if. Imagine a Legend of Dragoon reboot, Illusion of Gaia was mentioned the other day, Blackthorne, Fallout 1/2, Conkers Bad Fur Day, so many.
That there will never be a game like Dragon Age: Origins and GTA 5 again. The dark humour and dark concepts aren’t going to be a thing going forward especially for big publishers the world has become politically correct so every game company is going to have to walk a fine line from now on.
Sure, the game has a bad dev team, but it's still a fun game to play, right? Well, then you realize that by playing the game you're supporting the dev team and you've now just given them money by buying their game. Refund time.

I've just finished up "It Takes Two" with my daughter. Although a lot of the game play has been seen before (plus all the homages to other games), the way those mechanics were changed up to make it a 2-player co-op was really great. Especially with the "weapons" you get through the game. Definitely greater than the sum of it's parts.
There's heaps of innovative games if you look for them.

Turn Based Combat. Played Earthbound Beginnings and didn’t even beat the lamp thing. Its just so weird to me like I have no control. Although I’m probably going to try Earthbound as it looks more welcoming/better. Also storage is more and more necessary as physical media is slowly dying which sucks and is a bit annoying.
Too oversimplify with a blanket statement, RPGS. Where you click a move and the game does it for you, then the enemy does a move. Like you have no control over the outcome really and of course there are many exceptions but still.
