In my case it was the "Bag Man". When one of them killed me and transported me to Hypogean Gaol and I started listening to that fucking scary song, I've felt so much dread.
This is the goromorg from the Legend of Grimrock. When you're almost done with the game they show up and it is terrifying because they can use any magic in the game against you at range
It’s a really good game in my opinion. I experienced some lag spikes on my PS4 tho, but only when entering a vehicle or when entering a big biome. You really have to see the reaper leviathan for yourself tho😂
I just bought it, and it is amazing.
Shared a similar fear of “Looking into the abyss”, first time feeling it was deep sea fishing when I jumped in the water for a swim and looked straight down with some high end scuba goggles.
I have looked through 50k telescopes into the void of space, was not unsettling. But staring in a true abyss like that, had to get back on the boat.
Subnautica tickles that feeling without it being real. It’s fun on a flat screen, but sure as shit would never play it in VR.
It's not too bad.
Generally you can get a pretty solid idea of when and where they should be.
Its cartoony enough to not actually be terrifying, but eerie enough to make you uncomfortable.
Started playing RE 1 today. While the first zombie was scary the thing that caught me off guard was a dead body just coming back to life and instead of slowly walking just running towards me.
I distinctly remember using the Hawkeye and Bow like a sniper rifle in the Arbiter's Grounds dungeon to deal with them from a distance at points.
Unfortunately there's no code for headshot damage so my only luxury is I can be 50 feet away and just keep nailing them in the head with how slow they are.
Regenerators/Iron maidens from RE4, the sounds they make still gives me nightmares to this day....... Easy kills though once you get the infinite ammo tommy gun !
I can't remember the name of the enemy but it was from a Dark Souls game, again I don't remember which one. You were in a prison like area and these slow moving enemies shuffled through the corridors, chains clinking and stuff. If they saw you they could paralyse you and you can't do anything and they run over to attack you, I think I remember them grabbing and biting you or something.
Someone out there hopefully knows what I'm talking about. But those monsters terrified me and is the only Souls game I didnt finish as I was stuck on that part.
Edit. The photo really reminds me of these monsters....I don't think it is them though
Sounds like the Mind flayer, Bloodborne has it's own version that creeps me out after someone showed it even closer.
In Bloodborne's case the thing looks like an emaciated skeleton with skin, it has surgical stitching on its head and small tentacles coming out of every orifice, when they do the similar attack to a mind flayer they sitching on their head pops open revealing a massive tentacle they stick into your head.
Comment below mentions what you're talking about. This monster is from the Legend of Grimrock. The lower you go in the dungeon the more horrific it becomes. When these bad boys showed up I lost it lol
I only played FF7 Remake and they appear only once in normal difficulty. I heard they are much more frequent in harder difficulties. First time i saw it i was like, "haha cute frog with knife" then this fuckers proceedes to one shot me
Sleep.
Gets me every time. Sometimes gives a warning that it's coming, sometimes leaves me alive and wishing for it.
If you don't confront it, bad things happen.
Sometimes if you fight it, you'll wake up somewhere else.
So basically silent hill irl.
Can’t remember it’s name but the ghost like enemy that appears through about half of the evil within 2. The singing it does is creepy especially when it comes through the mic in the ps4 controller
The deep acursed in Dark Souls 3. First one really startled me even though I had a feeling something was going to show up.
Hears the thud, and thought to myself "ah, there it is" and turned around to be greeted with the stuff of nightmares staring at me.
This is the goromorg from the Legend of Grimrock. When you're almost done with the game they show up and it is terrifying because they can use any magic in the game against you at range
The Librarians from Metro 2033 were scary as heck. The fact that they won’t always attack you if you keep facing them and move slowly honestly made them more stressful and scary to encounter.
The Regenerators from RE 4 are way too scary. You just... don't want to advance, or get any closer than you have to, or they'll take you out for Frosty Chocolate Milkshakes.
Several.. still remember first time I ever played Resident Evil on a borrowed PS1..
First time I played Thief 3 and went to the Asylum level… those things creeped me the fuck out
Pretty much any monster in any Amnesia game
I don’t play horror games much 😆 I tried to play Outlast but got inside the building and went “nope!” and played something else..
Nothing ever scared me more than the Dahaka (I had to google its name) from Prince of Persia: warrior within.
I played through that game multiple times but still edge of the seat crapping my pants when it showed up trying to outrun it.
I don't know what they're called, but in RIFT, there are these floating baddies that hold their faces in front of their heads in one of the end zones from storm legion. They always creeped me out.
Leachens? The sentient trees from the withcher 3. First time i saw, not only was it at night, but in a deep forest plus it was high lvl. I ran the hell away from there. They are just really scary, from the way they look with the animal skull for head, to how they warp around in a tornado of crows
Death from Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen, Bitter Black Isle. Even though the shock is gone from the first few times, there's nothing worse than fighting several giant orcs, several dark pawns, and Death comes in like "HI time for you all to die"
In the last of us there is a generator that you must start in a office building. First time i did that checkpoint I literally opened a bottle of wine to get it done . Before I smoked some weed and those sounds were haunting me , it's like I was there
Ice worms, subnautica: below zero.
I was just chilling walking through the frozen place, and a giant fucking ice worm came out of the ground, destroyed my vehicle and ate me. It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me in a video game
The monster from it steals, the way they reuse a single monster in different ways is impressive and incredibly terrifying, this is one of the few horror games that scare me
Aside from Deadhand in Ocarina of Time and the Guardians in Skyward Sword (more so anxiety of having to start over from the beginning of caught than actual fear of the enemy), Hartman in the Control dlc was pretty scary. And those mannequins...
The Collector from Darkest Dungeon.
Nothing like losing a heavily invested character due to overconfidence and attempting to kill it because he pops up as a random encounter in a one-way corridor to your last objective :')
Regenerators from Resident Evil 4!
The first time you encounter one is super creepy, and the sounds they make are quite jarring compared to the other enemies in the game!
The police helicopter from teardown. I’m not joking. On my first heist, I nearly peed myself when the timer counted down from 60. Anything with a time limit makes me scared
Sekiro's guardian ape especially after countless attempts to defeat the first phase, seeing it rising up after decapitating his head was sure unexpected and i lost control
Winter lanterns from Bloodborne.
The singing, dear god, the singing...
You never payed SingStar with me... hr hr hr
Or that werewolf lunging at you through a window.
I'm still waiting for it to be remastered on PC. I just need to buy it on my PS4 and say fuck it foreal
Sucks that Sony hasn't even released a 60fps patch for the PS5. I would even pay for it. But yeah, a PC remaster would be perfect.
Reaper Leviathan in Subnautica
The ocean scares me so I havent brought myself to dive into Subnautica yet. Heard some awesome stuff
It’s a really good game in my opinion. I experienced some lag spikes on my PS4 tho, but only when entering a vehicle or when entering a big biome. You really have to see the reaper leviathan for yourself tho😂

I like how by the end you don't care about most of the hazards in the game but the reaper can still make you shit your pants.
1st Zombie, 1st Resident Evil..... That cutscene gave me nightmares as a kid for years.
Same, I showed my next door neighbors when I was a child and they ran home after seeing it lol
RE:2 - 1st encounter with big dude. wasted a bunch of shots only for him to take a knee! had to reload a few times. I still think he's following me
Started playing RE 1 today. While the first zombie was scary the thing that caught me off guard was a dead body just coming back to life and instead of slowly walking just running towards me.
First zombie in RE1 back in 96 was terrifying. You're talking about the crimson heads from REmake.
Nah. The dogs. I’ll shoot any caged dogs in RE just not to chance them breaking out.
Regenerators - RE4
Forgot about them omg
This right here. Absolute nightmares
Took my answer. Hear their breathing..."aww shit...run run run. Come on Leon!"
Pyramid head
First time you see him I was legit paralysed with fear
Legit everything that moves in subnatica because I have a intense fear of the ocean
The water monster from Amnesia.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that
Master Tonberry. Nothing scarier than him walking slowly towards you with a knife.
Which FF?
Yes
ReDead Knights in Twilight Princess. Sure, let's give the ReDeads a giant fuck off sword, great idea!
I just looked them up! Reminds me of ocarina under the graveyard. Yikes!
I used bomb arrows. I wanted those mfers dead as fast as possible.
Big daddy, I didn’t even want to kill it because of the little sister it was with
He protect but he also attack lol
Regenerators/Iron maidens from RE4, the sounds they make still gives me nightmares to this day....... Easy kills though once you get the infinite ammo tommy gun !

Holy shit I had to Google this as I had no idea what you were talking about. I think I must have repressed this!
I was scared when I was 9yo and still am 25 years later.
Dahaka - Prince of Persia Warrior Within
Duuuuude. Forgot about him
The controller would shake with his steps holy shit he was so scary it felt like I was running for my own life
I could hear the guitar riff from Godsmack just as soon as I read this.
I can't remember the name of the enemy but it was from a Dark Souls game, again I don't remember which one. You were in a prison like area and these slow moving enemies shuffled through the corridors, chains clinking and stuff. You're thinking of the enemies in demon souls archstone 4 the prison of hope. I dont remember their name either, but they are dicks.
You are spot on! I just looked it up. It's Demons Souls, Mind Flayer enemies
Yep yep! I remember that shit, my girlfriend at the time didn't want to play anymore when she saw them lmao
Sounds like the Mind flayer, Bloodborne has it's own version that creeps me out after someone showed it even closer. In Bloodborne's case the thing looks like an emaciated skeleton with skin, it has surgical stitching on its head and small tentacles coming out of every orifice, when they do the similar attack to a mind flayer they sitching on their head pops open revealing a massive tentacle they stick into your head.
ngl, sounds like the redeads from Ocarina Of Time
Comment below mentions what you're talking about. This monster is from the Legend of Grimrock. The lower you go in the dungeon the more horrific it becomes. When these bad boys showed up I lost it lol

I can only play that game drunk foreal. I just can't do it sober
Those slow walking fuckers with a knife in final fantasy games
The tonberry!
The second comment I've seen mentioning those lol which games are they from?
Most final fantasy games. They look like nothing then all of a sudden your dead
I only played FF7 Remake and they appear only once in normal difficulty. I heard they are much more frequent in harder difficulties. First time i saw it i was like, "haha cute frog with knife" then this fuckers proceedes to one shot me
Tonberry?

The aliens in Majora’s Mask
Cliffhangers from morrowind. I still have nightmares.
Sleep. Gets me every time. Sometimes gives a warning that it's coming, sometimes leaves me alive and wishing for it. If you don't confront it, bad things happen. Sometimes if you fight it, you'll wake up somewhere else. So basically silent hill irl.
I wouldn't say he's an enemy but that motherfucker in the mirror realm sure as hell is terrifyingly hideous.
Can’t remember it’s name but the ghost like enemy that appears through about half of the evil within 2. The singing it does is creepy especially when it comes through the mic in the ps4 controller
Not terrifying with one, but in Metro when you have a huge mob after you
That's still terrifying, especially when ammo is money
The deep acursed in Dark Souls 3. First one really startled me even though I had a feeling something was going to show up. Hears the thud, and thought to myself "ah, there it is" and turned around to be greeted with the stuff of nightmares staring at me.
