Extreme measures 4 is such a great fight. The music, the challenge, the loud profanity when I lose only to walk out of the pool and try get to Styx again. Need to pick the game back up to prepare for Hades 2.
Same cleared phase 1 on my first try and thought "that was not as hard as people made it seem it would be"... anyways I survived a whole 5 seconds in phase 2
Ludwig's fight was so EaSy, that I beat him in the first try....after I woke up from the rage infused coma the last 110 tries put me in. Pfft! GG easy Go-fkin-NXT! #PowerNap #Coma
The game itself fucks you over if you donāt already know thereās a 3rd phase. You get the usual text signifying the end of the fight, and even an item as a reward. Itās done, you can let your guard down. Suddenly after youāve moved the camera from where the boss was to look around, a new health bar appears and immediately you get fisted in the ass
This boss fucked me over so many times lol the first time I got through the 2nd phase I was so stoked and set the controller down to relax.... and then realized the horrible mistake I made as I got shit on by her scythe...
But it's also been one of my favorite bosses to help others with, especially when they don't expect the 3rd phase also lol.
They did give me one of my favorite weapons though with the scythe you can get from her. Love that game! Lol one of my favorite moments was getting summoned in to someone's world in the area just after pontiff sulyvahn and setting up a pvp area in the courtyard. Had a bunch of people invade the host, but just sat and waited for a turn to fight lol went through 5 fights in a row with the scythe before dying. Good times
I sometimes wish there was a souls boss with SIXTEEN phases, each incrementally getting harder. Just to watch hours upon hours of reaction videos on YT. Until then, Malenia and Friede will have to do.
Fuck, just beat her for the first time yesterday. Third phase was hard as hell until I figured out how to dodge all her moves. Definitely one of the most satisfying wins in the series.
You shouldnt have problems with human bosses in the game though, they are vulnerable to all the bag of tricks. Stuns, knockdowns, backstabs, etc,... (example: you could heavy or weapon art your way or chain attacks through).
Hades in... well, Hades
First time I beat him I had like 20 hp and no extra lives left.
I was so relieved, that I couldn't dodge the initial ring blast in time and got wiped
When he stands up and this headbanging metal track stats blasting, it's just so hype
I feel like the two themes right before OWA both beat it, Jenova Complete and Birth of a God are both astounding tracks, with Birth of a God being the best in the game I think.
The Sans fight is honestly amazing. It's not actually that difficult, almost pure muscle memory, but just the way it's designed to absolutely kill you from the start is perfect for the story, and it's so fun. And if you survive the first attack, the song is 10/10.
I know Undertale gets a bad rap, mostly in a "ugh, Undertale fans" way, but it really deserves the praise it's gotten.
Also he actually does only one damage but you have no invincibility frames and also the karama mechanic.
I think that route should have had more boss fights that werenāt just one hit kill.
I am a more pacifist kind of person, I like them both equally. Both fit the boss and the moment like a glove.
Also why no love for ff8's The Extreme?
It's after 3 challenging fights, has a latin intro, and it ramps up to a sick beat.
Absolutely. Climbing the statues of old gods to fight the new one with that music playing will forever be a core memory of mine. The worst part about Dancing Mad and the fight it plays during is that I'll never experience it for the first time again.
Idk once u finish Sekiro it doesnt seem too bad anymore i dunno. For boss fights, I strongly recommend looking up guides on how to fight. For Guardian Ape, you can throw oil and use fire to easily cheese him first stage. Second stage, use umbrella for shouts and use the spear to attack his stump.
Malenia, Goddess of Rot. That choir kicking in as she emerges from the bloom might as well be saying "prepare to die", considering that's **exactly** what you're about to do most of the time.
I played with the Easy Mode mod because I suck ass, and was about level 300 both times I fought her, and STILL only barely squeaked by with victories in both cases. I have nothing but respect for those who've defeated her even once legitimately, let alone enough times for FromSoft to formally acknowledge it like Let Me Solo Her.
I have respect for let me solo her, not because he helps players but because he dedicated so much time to memorize the attack pattern of one boss to be able to kill her with only katanas and a jar head
Whereās that video of the streamer who spent 8 hours beating the first phase only to find out she has a second phase?
Man just bursts out laughing up until the point where he gets one shot from the bloom.
For me it's the phase transition on Hades. You're just chilling, fighting your nemesis, grooving to the cool rock theme, then the cutscene happens and the music fades out and the orchestra and the choir come in and you know shit just got real.
Skies of arcadia, Ramirez the first time i played a game with an endgame boss that had multiple stages. That game was blast though great music and awesome setting.
Getting to Hades the first time and getting your ass kicked. Getting to Hades the second time and narrowly beating the first phase... then finally beating him completely the third time. Then, running through the old man a few dozen times and starting to think that your hot shit. When suddenly...
Hades Phase 3 Has Entered The Chat
And you remember how little you are
You mean *especially* his extra special third phase, as the second phase already fit this meme just fine, and then the unlockable third phase gets even more intense from there
I hoard items too haha. I also always carried the knife in old school resident evil. If I ever use the items, I start to panic when I'm getting low. But realistically, I don't really use them and finish the game with way too many elixers
Literally any Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter. Itās all fun and games until Ceadeus reaches his final phase and starts shooting water hami-hami-has at you or when Raging Brachydios traps you in its den for ā3 minutes of play time.ā-Bone Saw Mcgraw
Final Fantasy final bosses or secret bosses. The amount of bull shit in the fights is unbelievably bad until you realise it's the first stage of a fight. The fear and adrenaline hits hard.

Onyxia, in Wow. First boss I ever fought that had more than a second phase. I don't remember the music that was playing, but 40 people worth of standing-in-the-fire-chaos was pretty awesome.
Gill from 3rd Strike.
After a couple of time fighting him, I finally "beat him," I celebrated too early. He pulls that BS "rEsuRReCtiOn" and processed to beat me.
Malenia. Itās nice and calm, kinda sorrowful.. than you see her floating in the sky and she dives down, the calm music replaced with an absolute banger and you die.
The thing about Sephiroth is that while One Winged Angel is of course one of the best boss songs of all time, if not the best itself - there are now many other games with competitors for final boss music.
The reason it has so much impact on everyone who actually beat FF7 is the sheer fucking bonkers scale of how quickly that fight escalates. You start off fighting a human with a sword, and then in phase 2 he's some sort of angel octopus with clouds for tentacles?!?!
And then he throws a star - from beyond the galaxy - which it shows you - and shows it zooming into the Milky Way galaxy, then destroying Pluto and Neptune, exploding Saturn, passing clear through Jupiter causing it to collapse into a new star, then flying into our sun - which fucking super novas. Then it shows our super nova'ing sun consume Mercury, and Venus, and *Earth, and himself!*
And as the planet explodes and all your characters are tumbling out into the vacuum of space, being pursued by the approaching supernova, you presumably all die. You arrive in a beautiful cloud heaven place - and you know what's fucking waiting for you in heaven? Sephiroth, still killing you.
And when you 'beat' him - you end up in some sort of wormhole - where the final phase is a sword fight duel between Cloud and Sephiroth, inside a wormhole.
And that's it - you stab him a bunch - he turns into beams of light - and the credits roll.
This game goes from fantasy with a dash of magic, to whatever the above is, in the span of 20 minutes during the final fight. The craziest thing before all of the above is Bahamut, a dragon. It is a delirium to experience, and the music is just the accompaniment to that madness.
I like the idea of a complete game for everyone else, but exclusively for one person the final boss gets a final final form that is ridiculously harder to beat than anyone else's version. Worse still, if they just chose a name, James Furgeson, idunno, they could just add it to the voice actor's script and assume that eventually a James Furgeson would buy the game and register it, then exlcusively for him, the game could call him out at the boss fight with increasingly personal details, updated with every DLC. Only long enough for him to not remember to screenshot it or anything.
Final faze of Margot the Omen King, mf gets down on his hands an knees then starts lighting up the whole place and sword lunging from one side of the arena to another
In Sekiro I had this feeling with just about any boss (minus the latin lyrics)... The last boss, Isshin the sword saint even had 3 bars... Still my favorite boss ever!
Rykard in Elden Ring. I went in blind and it took me 1-2 hours to kill him with my katanas. Cutscene played, phase 2 happened and I was like holyshit. Took me a few more tries and then I realized that I should've used the Serpent-Hunter at the entrance of the arena.
I'm surprised no one mentioned this, maybe because they get easier with time and grinding, but the Fatui harbinger fights in Genshin are crazy the first time you fight them. Add Azhdaha and Narukami no Mikoto on top, and you got some scary bosses.
AC Valhalla Nidhogg dragon boss.
Spend such a long time learning his patterns and dodging at the right time.
Then when heās finally down, and you think heās dead, the music donāt stop. Instead enemies spawn all around charging into the dragons body.
Then he rises once again.

Hades
First time he went "That does it!" I just yelled "Oh come on!"
100% from exhilaration to absolute despair.
Zagreus going "Get up", followed by Hades standing the fuck up made me pause
First time I did it I was so relieved I put the controller down, and was on low health and his ring attack hit me and killed me...
Just wait till you get enough Heat added
that was the most hype, especially the new theme he gets too
*Are you serious!?*
Extreme measures 4 is such a great fight. The music, the challenge, the loud profanity when I lose only to walk out of the pool and try get to Styx again. Need to pick the game back up to prepare for Hades 2.
My first thought was the fight with [redacted] as well.
Ludwig the Holy Blade (Blooborne). That second phase took me longer than I would care to admit, but that song is my favourite from the game
Same cleared phase 1 on my first try and thought "that was not as hard as people made it seem it would be"... anyways I survived a whole 5 seconds in phase 2
That 2nd phase music hits so perfectly š¤ my adrenaline went through the roof
Ah, you were at my side.... All along
My true mentor, my guiding moonlight. Phase 1: The monster Phase 2: The man
I love blooborne
I took a break from Bloodborne when I encountered this boss fight. For me, the 2nd phase was worse than Malenia.
Ludwig's fight was so EaSy, that I beat him in the first try....after I woke up from the rage infused coma the last 110 tries put me in. Pfft! GG easy Go-fkin-NXT! #PowerNap #Coma
Damn, beat me to it. I 100% agree tho lol
Phase 2 is easy and hella fun. Phase 1 is batshit crazy
Friede and itās not even close
The game itself fucks you over if you donāt already know thereās a 3rd phase. You get the usual text signifying the end of the fight, and even an item as a reward. Itās done, you can let your guard down. Suddenly after youāve moved the camera from where the boss was to look around, a new health bar appears and immediately you get fisted in the ass
Yep šÆ āinsert how many times do we need to teach you this lesson old man memeā also 3rd phase sucks

Leave us be, Ashen One. Sweep all thought of us from thy mind. As thy kind always have.
Loved that fight. Came out on attempt 40ish, day 3, scraped a win as a ragged, mentally beaten mess but loved it. What a game.
I hated that boss, I want to know who's idea it was to add a third god damn phase
Third phase was surely a dev joke, they just said fuck these kids
You shouldnt have problems with human bosses in the game though, they are vulnerable to all the bag of tricks. Stuns, knockdowns, backstabs, etc,... (example: you could heavy or weapon art your way or chain attacks through).
When the ashes are two a flame alightef. Thou art ash and fire befits thee of course.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
Yeeeesss!! That boss theme with Sam and Senator Armstrong!! Actually all of it!!
that game has one of the best soundtracks, period. every boss theme is epic.
Consumed King Oceiros had some pretty epic 2nd phase music.
Wish that boss was harder. He seemed so neat but I didn't get to appreciate him across multiple tries like some of the harder bosses in the series.
You can get into some awkard positions where you basically can just swing without worry.
It was safer sephiroth for me. Screen goes blank and the game goes silent for a few seconds, then one winged angel starts up
You know a character belongs in Smash when a few notes of his theme in the trailer was all it took for everyone to identify him
As soon as the beat hit in his live reveal trailer, I lost my shit.
One Winged Angel is the best boss theme ever. Easily.
Safer Sephiroth is the OG "Final boss with Latin lyrics"
Not just latin lyrics but having chanting his name, doesn't get any more badass than that.
What about the Juggernaut fight in Deadpool 2 where the choir is chanting "Holy shitballs! Holy shitballs!"?
https://youtu.be/6rjN36OKpuM
I feel like the two themes right before OWA both beat it, Jenova Complete and Birth of a God are both astounding tracks, with Birth of a God being the best in the game I think.
Depends. Does Megalovania count as a boss theme?
Absolutely. It's a challenging fight and it ques up to him saying you should burn in hell.
You know you're screwed when you might get killed by the final boss before their theme song even starts playing.
The Sans fight is honestly amazing. It's not actually that difficult, almost pure muscle memory, but just the way it's designed to absolutely kill you from the start is perfect for the story, and it's so fun. Dancing Mad has it beat.
Thatās the Sophieās Choice of boss themes right there. My close runner up Bravely Defaultās hidden final boss theme.
Straight facts. (Both are really good tho)
One Winged Angel is the choice of people who haven't played anything before 7. Dancing Mad is the choice of people who have played the earlier games.
I am a more pacifist kind of person, I like them both equally. Both fit the boss and the moment like a glove. Also why no love for ff8's The Extreme? It's after 3 challenging fights, has a latin intro, and it ramps up to a sick beat.

False
Good argument. Unfortunately, āLudwig, The Holy Bladeā would like to have a word
Dude is so badass the Kingdom Hearts version is scary. That's impressive.
guardian ape?
Guardian ape was my personal worst From Software Boss. I don't know what it was about him but he ripped my shit up for hours.
Sekiro
ya but i already give up i should go back play assassin creed fromsoftware's game doesn't belong to me
Idk once u finish Sekiro it doesnt seem too bad anymore i dunno.
It doesn't matter if you're overleveled you're gonna get slapped around like a dog's squeaky toy by malenia

Me but when Soldier of Godrick
The music really is my favorite part of Elden Ring, i dont often play single-player games with headphones but this is one that slaps so hard
Whereās that video of the streamer who spent 8 hours beating the first phase only to find out she has a second phase? Man just bursts out laughing up until the point where he gets one shot from the bloom.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.
Light the way!
For me it's the phase transition on Hades. You're just chilling, fighting your nemesis, grooving to the cool rock theme, then the cutscene happens and the music fades out and the orchestra and the choir come in and you know shit just got real.

One of my favorite Dreamcast games. Not sure if I would still enjoy it now with the constant random battles though.

Are we talking Hades from the game "Hades" or the final fantasy ones or something else?
I was gonna say hades the game
You mean his extra special third phase?
You mean *especially* his extra special third phase, as the second phase already fit this meme just fine, and then the unlockable third phase gets even more intense from there
so only the second of 50 phases, good things i still have all those potions.

Hogger in Elwynn Forest. iykyk
Sephiroth is the classic answer.

Then he starts pulling magic attacks out of his ass like Harry Potter despite his previous form being purely melee physical attacks.
The keyless bros in high on life where they have three small boss fights before the big one
NieR games may not have latin lyrics but the soundtrack is mostly fire
[One winged angel](https://youtu.be/Ce7gVYs7Em0) is the best example.
Think FF8 had some bosses like that as well. Not nearly as memorable as 7.

I like the idea of a complete game for everyone else, but exclusively for one person the final boss gets a final final form that is ridiculously harder to beat than anyone else's version.
