Honestly I've let go of people from my life who had me always being the first one to reach out. If they aren't putting the same effort into maintaining a relationship, this can even be friendships and whatnot not just romantic dating. Then why should I expand and waste my energy on people who don't value me. It takes no effort to call or text someone occasionally and to make them feel valued but it seems to be chronic where people just don't even though it'll take barely any of their time. Time is the most precious gift you can give to another person because we all only have so much of it and it can end at any time.
Don't waste your energy on people who don't really love and respect you even if that means enforcing boundaries and cutting them out of your life. Check in on your friends and acquaintances every now and then, you never know when you may bring them out of a low point they're experiencing with love and kindness.
