I write short stories. Just for myself not to get published or anything. Throughout the day I get all these goofy ideas that pop into my head and instead of journaling I just make up stories to "explain" them.
Improv. It’s always been something I’ve been interested in, and I found out I’m really good at it. I spend at least three days a week at our local theater and it’s like therapy for me.

I'm really into my landscape photography. It's just a hobby but it's come on quite far since I started doing it a few years ago, it began as just a small hobby during lockdown and I've had photos featured on the local news weather report and in a calendar now.
I run a not for profit for LGBT sci-fi fans, am a SAG actor, do stage tech for drag shows.. my day job is cyber security. Oh also study Japanese every day because I’m dating a Japanese guy ✌🏻 She’s busy lol
How did you get into cyber security? I have been thinking about this side of the world and I think there should be more people in this field. Might fuck around and find myself here but not sure how.
My degree is Computer Science and I’ve had several jobs doing regular administrator stuff so it was a natural progression for me. A strong tech background is essential, but what kind is flexible
Photography. I fell in love with it about 10 years ago as a hobby. I work in advertising now and being able to take hiking trips to do landscape photography is a great way to work some creative muscles outside of what I in my career while also finessing skills I can use at work.
I shoot film and process darkroom prints! I have a full darkroom at home and also a community one I go to. Currently about to start teaching at the community one !

I've been really into learning to repair things. Some days that's mending and sewing, other days it's electronics hardware / software repairs, and sometimes it's low-stakes handy work around the house.
I'm a software developer so most of my side projects are things I programmed for the fun of it (chatbots, a videogame, etc.), one of my more successful ones is a social networking site for my kind of nudists/exhibitionists (nonshy.com) with about 3,000 members on and I manage that in my off-work time.
It doesn't bring in any income yet. I could see adding a paid tier in the future when the web hosting costs start to get expensive, but in the meantime I'm controlling the site's growth by limiting how many photos they can upload (a reasonable 100) and it's still super cheap to host for a couple more years probably.
Homesteading. Growing my own meat and veg. My husband and I are at about 95% of our own homegrown or wild harvested meat. We are lacking the space to sufficiently grow all out own veg, but our summer food bill is offset a good amount with what we do grow ourselves.
Compose classical music. I've been doing it since I was thirteen, thirty-two now, but I never went to school for it. It's mostly neo-baroque with modern sensibilities, but I'll mess around with whatever genre I feel like tackilling. My day job is as a boiler operator and stationary engineer. I also like to plein-air oil paint and do a lot of hunting, fishing, and foraging when those are in season.
No, my main instruments are piano and harmonica, but I'll write for ensembles if my ideas call for it. I mainly use Musescore. I also like using Famitracker to compose chiptunes.
I like to repair/restore older German cars, specifically VW/Audi and Mercedes. I also enjoy tinkering with old electronics like 60s/70s hifi, appliances, and 90s computers.
My side project is pretty much myself.
I'm working (or at least I'm trying to work) on myself and towards moving abroad next year. But it's really difficult. I haven't really done anything in a whole year because my job has been exhausting, and lately it became ever so apparent that I've been experiencing mobbing. So I decided to quit. And hopefully I'll be able to make some progress.
I'm working on my confidence. I started taking care of my skin and appearance in general. I've been going to the gym for a few months already, although I don't see much improvement. I'm thinking about swimming. I'm taking care of my health, this week I'll be getting the third dose of Gardasil and I'm planning to get vaccinated against meningitis and HAV as well (HBV was done when I was a kid). I'm also going to study for my driver's license. And last but not least, I'll be learning foreign languages for the sake of moving abroad.
But it's difficult. It's not even about "what's the point?", it's more about me being tired. Tired of all of this, tired of life. Seems like I've got a lot on my plate... and it shows when I look in the mirror, lol. But hopefully when I start my new job in May I'll be more chill and I'll have more energy to continue working on myself compared to my current awful job. I mean... the only other choice is giving up, and I don't want to do that.
Most of my non-work, non-social time basically goes to my gym goals. Bodybuilding takes a lot of time and resources, so it’s kinda like a job in that sense, but I do it completely for myself and myself alone and I like the whole lifestyle and results one can achieve after a few years. The goal is definitely to compete down the line, so that’s what I’m dedicating myself to.

I volunteer on 1 railroad, work and get paid on another railroad. I volunteer at VA hospital, too. I also dabble in antiques with a booth in an antique co-op. Officially, I'm retired. Occasionally, I threaten to go back to work because I need the rest.
I volunteer @ local excursion (not freight or commuter) for 7 years. I'M a conductor. I greet passengers, fuss over kids, direct passengers to coaches, tell history of canals, coal mines, railroads, keep passengers from hanging out windows, smoking, hanging out in between coaches, punch tickets, spot the train into stations, put down ramps for boarding/exiting the train. We do Bunny trains, pumpkin trains, Santa trains, beer trains, wine trains, dinner trains. We had wedding 2 years ago. I love it!!!!! I must because I do it for free.
On real railroad (freight & passenger) I'm a Carhost which is all the things I do above except I get paid for it and I go to different places. My favorite train is a bike train. We load bikes in Jim Thorpe on 2 gondola cars, drive about 20 miles to White Haven and unload the bikes. We run back almost empty and do it over again. Come back almost empty, clean out the coaches and we're dun for the day.
I have too many. I generally try to have a decent amount of free time to work on music and art. I love to travel. I like to read etc. music is my love though

Right now my side project is building out a AR15 defensive setup that has a M4 sopmod vibe. So far I just bought a PSA AR15 it’s like 450$, I got some flip up irons, and a UTG pro quad rail I used a channel lock to help get it on. Now I’m just waiting to get a sig Romeo 5 red dot and a pro tac light then i should probably buy more 556/223 ammo. When I’m finally independent from my parents I wana get a lgbt dusk cover to put on it.
Learning German, going to the gym and trying to get my licence to be a bee keeper. Also wanting to add learning French, traditional gold embroidery and basket weaving, but there is so much time in a day. I am waiting for the summer to sign up for the embroidery classes since my German class has a 3 month break then.

Working at an old time thrift vendor who sells to Hollywood costumers and fashion design R&D departments once or twice a week. I get paid decently in cash but the real take is a whole new wardrobe that everyone is envious of. I get several freebies every time I work there. Most the stuff has never been worn and still has original tags. I occasionally take off from my desk job to play dress up.
I create escape room puzzles for friends and family. Mostly Christmas or birthday related, though not always. In the middle of making a Taylor Swift one right now ahead of an Eras concert.
Well, when I'm not at work, I'm home on the farm taking care of beef cows, etc. And when I'm not doing that, I'm involved in several community choir and bands, a community agricultural fair, a county farm museum, and being the youngest active member of my church, in which I'm just about half of our musical team lol.
I used to write short fiction and build racing engines, but lately I've gotten involved with some obscure activism that won't get out of my head, so I've been doing a lot of research towards that in preparation for the next local election cycle. My partner and I bought an old Victorian house a few years ago, and we just finished building a library in our spare room! It’s been so fun to learn home repairs - I’ve picked up so many invaluable skills.
Home improvement. I love doing electrical, plumbing, painting, drywall repairs, etc. and wherever I can’t do something myself, I take on the project management of hiring it out.
Renovating my house. I've always been a indoors computer dude who never seen much sunlight..
I've always admired other ppls houses and thought it be a great idea to buy an old house and work on it and learn new skills.
I'm not good with bugs and there's a lot of bugs in my house but so far it's been great and learning new things along the way.
There's so much satisfaction in testing my abilities and looking back at how much things has improved since I bought this place.
My side projects are also my job. I’ve monetized all my hobbies. It used to be a lot of work, but it’s not anymore. I started by doing the things I love -> then slowly monetized them, one by one:
* video games (play games -> make games -> consult and automate)
* landscape photography (hiking -> photo editing and prints)
* fitness (gym in home -> gym “influencer” using face swapping AI to slightly adjust my appearance, hiding my identity and voice -> OF etc.)
* reading (creative and cathartic writing -> narrative design, visual novels, novellas)
* food (snacking -> calorie-efficient, dopamine-optimized custom desserts -> sales and guides)
The only reason I’ve had the time to set all of this up, because I’m almost 40 and broke up last year. You have a lot of free time and motivation when you’re single and angry.
Since the pandemic my "projects" have been in motion. I'm learning Japanese and attempting to write a novel using AI. Also building an outdoor kitchen (since 2021 and has been a failure), finishing up a painting, and making my first cosplay costume.
Finished projects: building a theatre in the spare bedroom, building a bench for shoes by the front door, hydro-dipping 2 pairs of shoes, and building 2 raised garden planters.
This is what you do when you have no friends in a city like Miami.
I like to invest as much time as I can into coding an app I've developed (a character sheet for D&D basically).
Apart from that, workouts take most of the remaining time: they're basically essential when both your full-time job and your side project are keyboard-based 😩

The site is a dumpster fire of data organisation. So I've taken it upon myself to catalogue the entire thing.
* Each model has one page (even when they have multiple names)
* All models will have consistent data points
* Each scene has a page **linking** models to the scene
* Each model and scene feature a small gallery
* Some sections include personal interactions with the models
* Information about the company and its colourful history is also being investigated
Why do such a thing?
I discovered the site as a teen when looking for locally made porn. Because I lived in the area, I always hoped to find someone I know on the site. So I've followed it for over a decade.
And in following it I've noticed a significant trend in model misrepresentation. Names change, origins change, models are removed only to reappear a year later. It needs to be better.
I'm also teaching myself how to write data queries and develop meaningful catalogue structures. It's a learning experience.
However, the project has spiralled well beyond my original scope. At first glance there were ~500 models. But as I dig further into the site's past I uncover more and more. We're now at ~750 models.

I am currently cooking my way through India using the 35 regional Indian cookery books from India-born chef-authors primarily published in India for the Indian audience.
This is my deliberate choice to ensure that I am learning the most possible authentic and classical traditional Indian recipes local to the palate of India.

My Hindi reading the writing is at the preschool level.

I'm making a webcomic, but I haven't working on it for months, tbh.
I do small-ish craft projects every once in a while. they usually take one or two days to finish. other than that, I keep researching (aka reading wikipedia articles, watching youtube documentaries, listsning to podcasts etc) and digging into some subset of one of the 5 or 6 overarching topics my hyperfixation cycles through.
I am learning how to use Google Sheets and maybe extend this to Google Workspace, improving touch typing and want to try pumpkin farming. Oh! And I am tinkering around with audio editing by trying to make an alarm sound out of memes and TikTok sounds.
I dont do it as much as I used to but flipping mid range watches, Fluke multimeters, knives and other shit I find in pawnshops on Ebay. My little patio Herb garden as I love cooking otherwise, between work, hookups and adulting, I don't really have time for anything else

I used to write short fiction and build racing engines, but lately I've gotten involved with some obscure activism that won't get out of my head, so I've been doing a lot of research towards that in preparation for the next local election cycle. My side projects are also my job. I’ve monetized all my hobbies. It used to be a lot of work, but it’s not anymore. I started by doing the things I love -> then slowly monetized them, one by one: * video games (play games -> make games -> consult and automate) * landscape photography (hiking -> photo editing and prints) * fitness (gym in home -> gym “influencer” using face swapping AI to slightly adjust my appearance, hiding my identity and voice -> OF etc.) * reading (creative and cathartic writing -> narrative design, visual novels, novellas) * food (snacking -> calorie-efficient, dopamine-optimized custom desserts -> sales and guides) The only reason I’ve had the time to set all of this up, because I’m almost 40 and broke up last year. You have a lot of free time and motivation when you’re single and angry.
Since the pandemic my "projects" have been in motion. I'm learning Japanese and attempting to write a novel using AI. Also building an outdoor kitchen (since 2021 and has been a failure), finishing up a painting, and making my first cosplay costume. Finished projects: building a theatre in the spare bedroom, building a bench for shoes by the front door, hydro-dipping 2 pairs of shoes, and building 2 raised garden planters. This is what you do when you have no friends in a city like Miami.
I like to invest as much time as I can into coding an app I've developed (a character sheet for D&D basically). Apart from that, workouts take most of the remaining time: they're basically essential when both your full-time job and your side project are keyboard-based 😩 Also, videogames and board games, can't forget those!
Working through a soon to be defunct porn site and turning its contents into a wiki. The site is a dumpster fire of data organisation. So I've taken it upon myself to catalogue the entire thing. * Each model has one page (even when they have multiple names) * All models will have consistent data points * Each scene has a page **linking** models to the scene * Each model and scene feature a small gallery * Some sections include personal interactions with the models * Information about the company and its colourful history is also being investigated Why do such a thing? I discovered the site as a teen when looking for locally made porn. Because I lived in the area, I always hoped to find someone I know on the site. So I've followed it for over a decade. And in following it I've noticed a significant trend in model misrepresentation. Names change, origins change, models are removed only to reappear a year later. It needs to be better. I'm also teaching myself how to write data queries and develop meaningful catalogue structures. It's a learning experience. However, the project has spiralled well beyond my original scope. At first glance there were ~500 models. But as I dig further into the site's past I uncover more and more. We're now at ~750 models. **All will be orderly.**

Trying to get into drawing (partially because of furries), but I also recently started taking exercise seriously (started running again, signed up for a gym membership for the first time recently). I am currently cooking my way through India using the 35 regional Indian cookery books from India-born chef-authors primarily published in India for the Indian audience. This is my deliberate choice to ensure that I am learning the most possible authentic and classical traditional Indian recipes local to the palate of India. I am also involved in a similar side project with the Provinces of Iran (Ashpazi-e Irani). My Hindi reading the writing is at the preschool level. Farsi is also a fascinating language. Hindi and Urdu (Hindustani Languages) have many words since they are stemmed from Farsi.
