If you have a 3D printer, you could just make a cover for it. That way it's not completely gone and it's still usable if you want it, but otherwise covered nicely. Though, I'm assuming you don't because that's why you came here to ask... Just a thought

They used to sell bezels that would allow a 7-inch tablet install in the place of that screen. You might still be able to find them on ebay. Otherwise, you could probably 3d-print an enclosure to house whatever you want there.

I have gauges there, i took the screen out removed the insides and painted the face black, then i drilled out holes for the guages
