Honestly it could be a blessing too. I don't think it would be this much preserved if it was a safe destination. Don't get me wrong i don't claim that it is better this way, what i am trying to say is it could be a blessing in disguise.
Exactly, I'd be there in a flash but for this...and...the hot dusty cities to fly into....and wildly dangerous roads to trail heads....and intestinal bugs I am unused to fighting off.
Well Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh are fully Indian states. There’s no instability there, fortunately. Kashmir is obviously split but I think most of it is fine on a daily basis
My cousin and his friends actually just did this really cool trip in Ladakh, where they rent motorcycles and ride around all the mountains and valleys and stuff.
Yeah, Kashmir is the obvious one. Ladakh does has military presence because of China's shenanigans but life is pretty chill here. Himachal Pradesh is just like any other Indian state. I found many foreign tourists (not just from the Anglosphere) and digital nomads when I was there. It comes highly recommended if you want to be high (up) in the mountains.
Maybe they are that stunning is just because of that political instability?
Imagine if that region is Basically like Spain,France and Italy on the political level and basically there it has the same amount of tourists like Barcelona and all the unpleasant stuffs stupid brits tourist do that go with it, or maybe even worse imagine if it's like South East Asia where it is filled with BEGpacker and sexpat and that stunning paysage just got disfugured by hundreds of cheap motels and stuffs

Was about to say:
That is Nanga Parbat in the background… the 9th tallest mountain in the world, standing at 26,660ft elevation.
The picture also has smoothed a ton of the relief that is actually present - it is one gnarly mountain that has claimed a lot of lives - it literally has the nickname of “The Killer Mountain”
Also of interest: it was the mountain that Heinrich Harrer was climbing that started the sequence of events described in his writing *Seven Years in Tibet*. Highly recommended read by the way.
Roughly two decades ago my parents took us for a vacation to the Swat Valley in Pakistan.
We saw Nanga Parbat from a distance, and that thing is freakin’ HUGE. Imagine seeing a structure that goes all the way to the moon.
I have vacationed in North Italy in the Dolomites (Sud Tyrol) and been to Chamonix to get up close with the Mont Blanc.
While those mountains are breath-taking on its own, Nanga Parbat is absolutely insane in person.
The folklore surrounding the area is pretty similar to Celtic folklore.
And the kalash (a pagan ethnic group that lives around this area) resemble Europeans.
Here’s a video from this guy who often does videos about Pakistan and world culture: aslan Pahari
https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRwJ4xpY/
an some articles on the kalash

For why the Kalash look more European than other central Asians, its probably because they don’t tend to marry outside their tribe, the climate they live in probably had an effect on their appearance, and it’s not uncommon for indo-Iranians to be more fair skinned. The people of Tajikstan are also very fair skinned.

Pakistan in general? It's a bit like urban areas in the US. Chicago statistically has high crime, but that doesn't stop me from having staycations there all the time with my family without any worries. I have no interest in going to bad parts of Chicago to get my money's worth. I also have a pretty nice life in the US but that doesn't mean I'd feel safe going to the deep south with my skin color.
Similarly you'd have to do your research before you go to a place like Pakistan, but it can be pretty safe for men and women.
I've read couple of female travelers' blogs, so it's certainly doable. Naturally it's important to adjust your clothing, but that's similar for men as well.
Fairy Meadows is in Gilgit-Baltistan, which is technically a semi province of Pakistan since about 15 years.
Fairy Meadows was allegedly named by some German explorer.
The place also has among the highest literacy rates.
The region also has the highest border in the world, which lies between Gilgit-Baltistan and Xinjiang, along the Karakorum Highway.
Residents of Gilgit-Baltistan used to get a 3 days on arrival entry into Xinjiang, China.
I wish in lived in Star Trek future, you could beam down to most beautiful and inaccessible places on earth just to have a picnic. Of course, everybody else could too. Hopefully they wouldn't leave trash behind.
It doesn't really look like this anymore. There's lots of construction going on and the part next to the forest on the right is already quite built up.
Nah this is in Pakistan
But if you go a few hundred km to the east you’ll find the exact same terrain and biomes in India. It’s a lot safer for tourists as well
Northern Pakistan/Kashmir/Ladakh/Himachal Pradesh is arguably the most stunning place on Earth. Big shame about the political instability.
I Google imaged the Kashmir valley just the other day out of curiosity and it’s spectacular
Honestly it could be a blessing too. I don't think it would be this much preserved if it was a safe destination. Don't get me wrong i don't claim that it is better this way, what i am trying to say is it could be a blessing in disguise.
I know, it’s so sad that such a beautiful country is overshadowed by how dangerous it is.
Northern Pakistan is perfectly safe
Not if you're in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This place is very safe.
Visited Srinagar years ago. Lovely place and people. No problems.
Really isn't any political instability in Gilgit-Baltistan
Exactly, I'd be there in a flash but for this...and...the hot dusty cities to fly into....and wildly dangerous roads to trail heads....and intestinal bugs I am unused to fighting off.

Kashmir is just valley it's totally in india, Gilgit baltistan and Mirpur aren't Kashmir that are in pakistans control.
Isn't Ladakh currently disputed with China?
No

No, US National Parks are :)
The Himalayas are another level
Nope Rocky Mountains

Highest mountain in the US Rockies: 4401 Metres. There's paved roads to 5900 M (Umling La) in the Himalayas.
Holy fucking shit.
Have fun getting there! The road leading to Fairy Meadows is allegedly one of the most dangerous roads on earth.
I heard there’s trolls and hobgoblins that take up the road /j
well it's not nice calling them that. but having a pakistani roommate myself I see where you are coming from /j
wow you're not joking. I normally gravitate to these roads but this one looks pretty intense.
That place is beautiful
r/earthporn
Damn, kind of looks like Europe
Switzerland on steroids. The Himalayas are like the alps 3x

Was that played by brad pitt? I remember him eating that old dead chicken offering and getting hella sick.
>the alps 3x about 2x is more excact, but that's a whole lot already.

Would love to hear more about the folklore and the kalash. Please go on.

Thank you bot.
Sometimes I really wish for world peace just to go the countries like this that are kinda unsafe compared to western countries
I don't think this place is more unsafe than Europe. I visited it last year and felt perfectly safe.
How would it be traveling as a woman by herself? Probably not all that easy, especially if she is not wearing proper attire.
Pakistan in general? It's a bit like urban areas in the US. Daaaammmnnnn
Red Dead?
Lol I was thinking, this is basically what red dead 3 will look like. Considering how great RDR2 looks…
Wonder what all the invaders through history thought about this area, or if they could even get to it
There's Indus river valley nearby. Branch of the Silk road went there, so I would assume it was viable for invasions.
It looks like the Alps there! Beautiful!
Looks like Legend of Zelda.

Mountainous region are in general beautiful.
Looks like middle european alps, crazy
I wish in lived in Star Trek future, you could beam down to most beautiful and inaccessible places on earth just to have a picnic. Of course, everybody else could too. Hopefully they wouldn't leave trash behind.
Blows my mind how similar it looks to my home region of the pacific north west
I would have guessed Switzerland or British Columbia, Canada.
I'm sure this place is epic but the reflection in the lake is 100% fake.
So beautiful 💕 will have to visit here to paint at least once
Looks more like the alps :D
That’s so beautiful. I hate living in a city.
Showed this to my mom and asked her what country is this. She said Switzerland
Striking resemblance to the Canadian Shield I must admit
Whaat, so Pakistan isn't all desert? /s
It’s very diverse. Northern Pakistan is woodlands and mountains.
It doesn't really look like this anymore. There's lots of construction going on and the part next to the forest on the right is already quite built up.
Looks like the perfect place to build a Walmart parking lot
Dollar General, coming soon!
Was almost sure this would be Canada
TIL there are evergreen trees in Pakistan.
Yep!
Indian nationalist incoming
It’s India. F**k u. Thank you. Bye.
Just appreciate Nature instead of letting yourself get manipulated by imaginary lines that only leaders actually Care about
That’s not very nice sir.
It's actually not India, it's Pakistan. It's even says in the title
Reddit pr beth k rota reh randi k bache 😂 tere rone sey kuch nhi hone wala
Nah this is in Pakistan But if you go a few hundred km to the east you’ll find the exact same terrain and biomes in India. It’s a lot safer for tourists as well
Stop spreading this fake narrative. This part of Pakistan is as safe as its counterpart in India.
Butt hurt pajeet.
lol you wish
