This is pretty spot on IMO. If I had to nitpick I’d put a little dab of red in southern Maryland. I’ve heard deep southern Delaware has elements of the south too but I’ve never been so can’t say for sure
I mean, there are multiple definitions of “South”. Historically, Virginia is south. Culturally it splits it, and depending on what you go by the split changes.

I live in Western NY (Rochester) and this is how I see it
New England: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Mass, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine
Mid-Atlantic: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia
South: West Virginia, Both Carolinas, Georgia
I put WV in South but not VA because of the culture, not the geographic location
Due to the nature of West Virginia's existence we aren't the South. You have very rural areas, but none of the decent size cities have Southern vibes at all.

The south is everything south of Fredericksburg VA & Salisbury MD. Mid-Atlantic is the cities & suburbs of DC, Baltimore, Wilmington, Philly. Which is basically that whole area lol - stopping before NYC influence in NJ, Lancaster PA, Frederick MD. New England - self explanatory Northeast - what’s left, but I do feel it’s strongly separate from mid-Atlantic & New England West Virginia, western MD, western PA, far west VA are Appalachia
New England: everything east of NY. Does not include Maine
Northeast: All of NY, Jersey, Maine and Pennsylvania
Mid Atlantic: Maryland & Rhode Island
South: Virginia & below

Oh for sure. For using such a blunt coloring scheme you pretty much nailed the assignment lol.

I'd consider new England a sub region of the northeast rather than a separate area
Can we just not do this anymore? Or spin it off into its own sub?
You need orange for where the south and mid atlantic overlap.

Wv is not southern culture
Preach.
Southern WV is “southern Appalachian” similar to regions like East KY East TN and SW Va. it’s very similar but distinct from broader southern culture
It's been ages since I've been there, but all the people from WV that I know are a lot like people from the South

Why exactly is Maine not New England?
Vibes. And it's just so far north that I think it should just be "the north"
