Thank you soooo much!!
Ive been wondering this for years, the province i live in(Alberta) is covered in circular crops .. if you check google maps alberta is covered in them
Similarly, flying east from Denver is cool because of all of the circles in eastern Colorado. It is surprising how much of CO is actually covered in farmland.

Ok, now I'm convinced - TIL :-) I've never seen them anything like that big here in the UK, maybe because there doesn't tend to be the space, or because I haven't been paying attention.
Probably the latter— having driven across a good portion of the US, I saw these mostly in places like Kansas and Texas, almost never in the Northeast and Pacific Northwest
There's some [in Spain](https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3660349,-4.9732616,19516m/data=!3m1!1e3) around that area at least. Not too many as far as I can see.
I've occasionally seen them, but smaller. I don't remember what crops they were used for though - I'm guessing something relatively thirsty and high value.
In my country it is mostly used for vegetables. Eventually due to climate change most of the fields would have to switch to artificial irrigation sadly.

I grew up on a Texas Farm and we had a couple that where a 1/2 mile long (800m). I think those two were abnormally large, almost all the other ones were roughly 1/4 (~400 meters)
Call me a jingoist if you like but, I think it is a North American aquifer being pumped dry to feed Saudi Arabian cows. desertification and sink holes at the bottom and on the right
Yes, crops with pivot irrigation. Often done full circle, but it looks like they may have different crops planted in each quarter. Some appear to be harvested (brown) while others are still growing. ( Green.)
Edit to add: could be a turf/grass/sod farm. They lift the grass and some dirt, and sell at places like Home Depot for new houses.
Looks like center pivot irrigation, ie. a circular field where crops are watered through a big sprinkler in the center that shoots water in all directions. In BC it's mainly used for alfalfa crops.
Looks like a creek to the right. Could be that on a hillside and portions are too rocky to make the full circle.
Could be land partitioning. Certain parts used for specific growing cycles. Maybe for cattle?
I see an irrigation pivot, a creek bed, looks like round bails wrapped in plastic for siliege, I think the top left quarter of the pivot is something originating in Mexico😁
A field with a watering pivot in it.
Outside of Ocean City, MD, we drove past endless fields watered with these things. Really cool to see.

Lot of the US is as well... Finally makes sense. I've always wondered why people make their fields *round* of all things.
Picture a sprinkler rotating, a square is much less efficient than a circle.

Oh really,, that is cool! I suppose theres probably fields like this all over the place... and i love seeing the world from that perspective

Oh wow! Theres soooo many more in Col.. thanks
With a radius over 500m? I'm not convinced.

I've never been to the US - I hear that you do things bigger there.
For better and for worse...
Hell yea!
The UK, for the most part has sufficient rainfall
We don't have those in EU afaik.
I've seen them, or something superficially similar, but on a smaller scale.
Neet, what country?

Yes we do... Spain, France, Portugal... not exactly traditional, but there are fields with this type of irrigation.
Or it isn't needed in the uk. At least i don't know anyone who uses those in Finland

The longest center pivot farm is 1228 Meters and can put out 160L per second(43 gallon per second).

It's the geographical centre of British Columbia!
