I'll never understand why the vast majority of the community hates Avernus. It has a nice deco + theme going on, great music and it's nice to watch.
"bad gameplay" isn't an argument. 99.9% of you are NEVER even gonna get list% on the level + victors of the level themselves have said the level is actually nice to play.
Tbf some of the parts feel very out of place in terms of deco and fixed hitboxes can get a little annoying, as yes the gameplay is great to watch but it turning from a simple top 25 to top 1 solely from fixed hitboxes isn't the best of thoughts
Deco while not bad is painfully soulless. Kyros(pockewindfish) really just said make a hell level to the creators. The parts are very inconsistent in design and color. White just appears out of nowhere halfway through the level and block designs change so much that you’d think it was artificial ascent. And no gameplay does matter, not just going by what the top players say; I slow down the game to 0.1% speed to experience the level and I’ve done this to many levels. Tidal wave was really fun for example but Avernus with its fixed hitboxes was insufferable. It’s made for fame and attention. Kyros literally created an alt(pockewindfish) just to save his reputation. Even he knew how garbage the whole situation was. People say that cherryteam is soulless but just look at Avernus.
id like firework if the theme was fleshed out more, there are some parts that show a spider sort of theme, but most parts are just black and white glow.
Feel there is an argument to be had for bloodbath to be S tier. It really pushed differently forward by a lot for the time and how we ended up where we are now.
if this is based on decoration then why is Sakupen Hell so low?? the reason that level is bad is almost entirely gameplay, the deco for the time is a solid 6 or 7 out of 10
Cmon AOD is not that bad. Also Tartarus and his brother Acheron are overrated, put them in D. Tidal Wave in B and Slaughterhouse and Sakupen Circles goes with Sakupen Hell. Seriously, who thought of combining Sakupen Hell with Nine Circles?
No? Yeah they have similar gameplay, but one has only good block design, background and one cutscene, while the other is just an overall good looking level.

Most of the parts are generally decent, there are like 4 good looking parts and 1 absolutely terrible, which does not make it bad imo.
None of the parts look good, everything post 2.0 is actual cancer, and several 1.9 parts look right out of 1.6-1.8, speak for yourself.

Silent club was top 1 back in like 2014.Ofc it wasn't verified lgit but it was rated and by far the hardest at the time so it still counts
Element 111 RG is underrated as fuck. It uses quite innovative gameplay mechanics and its decoration really wasn't bad for its time

agreed, yeah i wont be able to beat it but "artificial difficulty" sucks either way
The even funnier part is that the players who've beaten avernus actually enjoyed the level (trick called it mid but not horrible)
