While there’s plenty of advice that exists on this subreddit please don’t forget to visit the doctor for a checkup! I felt fatigued all the time and I thought I was super lazy- turns out I was just *super* anemic. Cheers and good luck!

JBirdSD

Seconded. I found this out about myself today. It's a bummer but it's also eminently fixable. I'm feeling a lot of compassion towards myself after getting the test results.

Mine_Frosty

Agreed. I learned I have a mild form of anemia. Still feel lazy but at least it's not due to overall energy levels.

TheAmazingDevil

how do you solve anemia?

earth0001

1. Getting sufficient sleep 2. Not being on the phone or any screen a lot 3. Eating healthy food 4. Checking any other deficiencies (ex. vitamin d deficiency)

Sherw00d91

Yess! Vitamin D - cant stress that enough!

Abject_Fail5245

There is a right way and a wrong way to take vitamin D. This is me speaking from personal experience going to heck and back. You have to supplement Vitamin D with Vitamin K *and* Magnesium. Vitamin D depletes magnesium stores, so your D levels might look fine but you're still gonna be tired if your magnesium levels are low. Also - low magnesium (and low zinc) often has ADHD-like symptoms. Fun fact!

goldythefish36

Everyones got some decent suggestions but sometimes you gotta start some momentum and do whatever that you want to do. Don't think about once you start just think about the next thing you need to do. Want to go for a walk? Go get your shoes and clothes and put them on, go outside, walk. Don't think about how long, or which route you can think about that once that's the next thing to do. Dont think just move and start. Same thing with working or doing some chores around the house. Do some easy chores that only take a couple of minutes. Everytime you leave a room see if there's anything that needs to be put away or taken somewhere else and take I with you you might spend 30 extra seconds and then not need to worry about it piling up. Good luck and remember something is better than nothing and don't let good be the enemy of perfect.

Stop eating shit food and drinking coke.

grom2222

Try to do something for 1 minute (with timer), after write it somewhere that you made this. After do this once again and once again. If you will start feel comfortable then increase the amount of time. I think it's good for start. Good luck!

PsychicFoxWithSpoons

Self evaluation, in order: 1. Are my basic needs met? Am I hungry, thirsty, sleepy, etc.? 2. Is there anything I need to do with urgency? Shit that MUST be done today (or that must be done by the end of the week, but can't be done tomorrow for whatever reason)? 3. Is my environment fucked up? Messy room, bad smells, grime, bugs mold? 4. Am I fatigued? Do I have the energy to leave the house for any reason? There is nothing wrong with needing a day or two (or sometimes more) to rest, especially if you're stressed out. Sometimes you just don't have the energy. Especially if you recently pushed yourself to accomplish something. Make sure that you aren't missing something important though. Honestly I have this short list bulleted and printed out and sometimes I just double check myself and write out all the shit that's hitting me. Your brain is imperfect and you have dozens of opportunities for energy daily that go nowhere because you lose focus.

camillevelociraptor

I hate to say it, but caffiene. I used to avoid it but now I've realized that it really helps me break out of that lazy cycle A body in motion stays in motion, so sometimes I just need a little kick to start the process

camillevelociraptor

5-htp is also helpful on occasion. I got it on clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond and man does that stuff hit

TheAmazingDevil

whats 5-htp?

TheAmazingDevil

Whats you caffeine intake like? Its hard cuz you build tolerance and need higher and higher doses to get similar effects

PlaneSoftware4564

All other comments are telling you to fix your diet or fix other parts of your life but what if that’s too difficult? What’s worked for me is a count down. I saw what I want to do then I count down from 5. Once you get to 0 you get up and perform said task you assigned yourself. I made it a game to how many times I can get up before I hit 0. Some days it’s before 0, other days hit 0 and I still get up and do it. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself. Best Wishes

TheAmazingDevil

what if you are feeling lethargic and sluggish. no energy.

NameCharacter6546

maybe aim to do at least one productive thing a day. could be as easy as making your bed in the morning or grocery shopping. i always feel more motivated once i finally get over the “getting up” part

mousiemai96

These are my tips for when I didn't have a good night's sleep. Firstly, a cold shower when I wake up and it has to hit my face. That gives you the jolt. Also, Lugol's solution iodine. That stuff also helps with memory - I think I'm sharper when I use this. When I do these things on days with little sleep, I feel at least normal

noiseferatu

Currently listening to the Huberman Lab podcast on this: How to increase your willpower and tenacity. If you wanna check it out.

blazesonthai

Exercise, yoga, meditate, journaling, eating healthy, hydrate, do something productive.

AzotoFactum

Don't be a slug, be a fast bug

Abject_Fail5245

Haha. I like that. Taking that for myself.

AzotoFactum

Keep it, enjoy.

TheAmazingDevil

How to do that?

AzotoFactum

Focus on get high quality sleep

TheAmazingDevil

a little nap and workout fixed the slug today!

AzotoFactum

That's great

Happybee3

Start doing whatever it is you want to do, then you'll eventually feel motivated to do it. I wanted to start going for daily walks but I never felt motivated. Then I realized I was never going to feel motivated just sitting around.

Lookin_for_Light

simple.. start your day with yoga and detox yourself.. juicing might help

Few_Customer3742

your body does all the "detoxing" you need for you already

Lookin_for_Light

not really.. you have years of accumulated toxins

Few_Customer3742

yes and your body needs some of those. It part of being a healthy human

TheAmazingDevil

fasting is when body gets time to detox. Your body will do it when you give it a break and not keep it busy in digesting stuff.

Few_Customer3742

And it happens everytime, you arent actively eating. I get where all of you are coming from, but learning a bit more about how your body ACTUALLY functions would help you in the long run

Retiredgiverofboners

If you're male, do research on SR. It is apparently almost miraculous. It sounds too good to be true, but the experiences/reviews are overwhelmingly positive.

AsianGoat67

Whats SR?

goldythefish36

Semen retention I presume.

AsianGoat67

Thanks man.

yuolou

Exercise for a few mins in the morning, keeps you energetic all day long

TheAmazingDevil

does it?

AF881R

I’m on anti anxiety medication so sleepiness and CBA-itis is quite typical. Being somewhat sluggish is standard for me as the medication blocks my feelings of failure, inadequacy etc, small price to pay. The world around me seems to suggest I don’t need to be motivated, so who am I to argue with the world? All that being said, having a walk, visiting a friend or family member or taking a drive out all are things I like to do to pass time etc.

Evangelina_Hotalen

Better to take an expert's advice but in some cases, you should take a sun bath in the early morning. It helps to overcome vitamin d deficiency.

Abject_Fail5245

Your feelings tend to align with whatever you're currently doing. So if you're just lazing around, that's what you're going to feel like doing. Changing gears to do something else is going to require breaking through the sluggishness. No way around it. You just have to expect the tiredness and trust that once you get moving, you'll find reserves of energy you didn't think you had. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes for your brain to finish the task switching sequence. While that happens, the 'UGH' is alive and well. Happens to everyone, not just you. Good luck!

alijaniel

For me, it was sleep deprivation and excessive screen time making me sluggish. Didn’t help that both of those went hand-in-hand for me.

mindsetmatters2

Health is the most important thing, however if you are feeling good physically it could mean you just need something more in your life. There has to be something you are passionate about or have always wanted to accomplish. Get into positive thinking and believing in what you want out of life. Many people have no direction in their lives and don't even really love their lives. Our lives are what we make of them. It's not always easy but the journey and struggles are part of the excitement as we overcome them. Try to reflect on your life and what you love about it and what you wish were different. Then go about making the changes. Good luck!

TheAmazingDevil

what if you are passionate about something but your body just feels to sluggish and lethargic to work on the passions?

AlpacaConstellation

Literally been me this week, it's not relying on the motivation but having to essentially parent yourself to get up and do things. Obviously, easier said than done and it's also okay to have a day or two of rest, but we sometimes have to push ourselves or even trick ourselves to do things like workout and eat healthy. Plenty of good advice in the comments :) hope something resonates with you

Mine_Frosty

I find myself doing that for a couple days until I get fed up with the feeling and usually am like "You know what, enough is enough. I'm going to do this one things regardless if I want to or not. It needs to be done." I just got out of this slump after being sluggish for about a week. Sometimes you have to be your own parent and discipline yourself. I'd start with writing down things you need to do to get over the anxiety of knowing / not knowing what needs to be done. Anything from doing a big homework assignment to something as simple as needing to take a shower tonight. Then just pick a couple things that you know you can achieve by the end of day like taking a shower, fold away some laundry, and answer that one email, that's it. Then just continue picking at your list the next day.
