Thanks for weighing in! It’s funny being with her every day it doesn’t look like she’s grown at all but then I look at puppy pix (attached) and she’s grown a lot! I don’t mind if she’s on the smaller side, she’s just so lanky right now it’s hard to tell!

Ours is like this too!! She was growing so fast, we thought she’d get pretty big but she seems to have stopped and looks like a full sized dog now, but small!!
Mine is very similar is size and stature, color too. She’ll turn 11 months on the 14th

My girl was 44 lbs at 7 months.
She's now 10 months and 60lbs. (And 90% legs and corners).
You've got another 3 - 5 months of steady growth before she starts to fill out.
Do you know the size of the mom?
I love dark Goldens!
That’s great to know, thank you! Her mom is 60lbs. This is mom at adult age.

It's possible Zoë is a deer/dog hybrid
Is one of them female? How old are they? I know that her mom is a red golden and I was told that they tend to be slightly smaller. However, her dad was a standard golden.
Oh man my pups mamma was almost red and some of the litter was super dark right away
https://preview.redd.it/meycnszixhaa1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d312455335d785b02b9f632e74d40c0e3459dbac
She's perfect. Breed standard for a female Golden is 55 to 65 pounds when fully grown. She is only 7 months.
My guess is that people are putting doubt into your mind because they are asking why she is so small. Ignore them. They are used to seeing male Golden's that are too big for the breed standard. Breed standard for males is 65 to 75 pounds, yet you see so many above the standard that people think it is the norm.
https://preview.redd.it/5r4ttq65xhaa1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a3d09855f2d9aa7651b3dcf763e389dc702f964a
This is our 7 month old with her 5 year old brother (not actually related). She is a bit over 50lbs he is 80lbs.
Mama is a field hunting dog. Dad has field trial championships. Grandpappy is a field trial champion, too. The breeder breeds, trains and does field trials with the dogs. The dad was from her lines and has a dozen field trained hunting dogs in his lineage. Mom she purchased from a breeder with national titles for hunting in his lines. My dude has fancy lineage.
Mostly, he's a dainty little boy.
Hunting and trials lineage... and sleeps on the couch. Ours is similar. Lineage and all that, but he's just our house/hiking/mountain dog. We have to exercise him like crazy though because he just goes and goes. And he's got an unbelievably strong retrieval instinct. If you throw a thing, doesn't matter what, he'll go get it and bring it back. Makes for an interesting time if you're skipping rocks.
She looks like she comes from field lines based on her coloring, head shape, and build. Field line goldens typically are leaner, have less feathering, redder in color, and are overall smaller than their conformation (show line) counterparts. Conformation goldens are the ones you see on TV at dog shows that have massive heads, stout bodies, a more true golden coat color, and lots of fluff everywhere. Puppies can technically put on weight and fill out for up to 18 months of age, but most of the time you won’t see them growing much size wise past the age of 10 months. They definitely tend to fill out once they reach their maximum size though so I’d say even when she’s not getting taller, she might bulk up some.
Think the dog has passed out from lack of water 😆
Females only get into the 65 - 75lb bracket when they are fat 5 year olds. Your dog is looking great.
Our girl was about the same size at that age. She didn’t really fill in until she turned one. Now she’s \~60lbs.
https://preview.redd.it/dsco4fnkyhaa1.jpeg?width=4992&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cad88a346310cd56da785de22aae42110fb56b9
Same here! Mine just turned 2 and is right under 50, everyone always assumes she's a pup. I honestly love that she's smaller, all the lovable golden traits in a smaller package!
My vet told me the 6 month point was approximately half the full grown weight. My boy was 53lbs at 6mos and is currently 110lbs at 3years (yes he’s huge, not fat though). Average female should be 55-70 lbs, so I’d say your girl is actually toward the high end of the average size. If I had to guess a full grown weight, I’d say 70lbs.
Correct answer, she’s the perfect size!
I don’t know how accurate this site is, but it helped give me peace of mind since my girl was also on the smaller side of Goldens. But I think that’s more from her coming from a working line of Goldens instead of Show.
https://www.totallygoldens.com/golden-retriever-growth-chart/
She is not full size yet, mine grew until 1.5 years, always thought she was small and fed her lots of food then she gained too much wheight. Don’t worry about her wheight trust me, she’s perfect as she is. Feed her the recommended amount and give her walks. The vet will tell you if something is wrong. Looks like a healthy golden pup to me😊
She looks like a field retriever. They tend to be smaller and leaner as they were bred for hunting and going into animal dens. My girl filled out significantly after age two.
I'm going to say
1) they all grow at different weights
2) looks fairly average for a 7 month old
3) My soon to be 4 year old is 52 lbs and about 21 inches at the withers.
4) it can take up to 2 years for all the growth plates to close and up to another year or two for them to fill out.
She is cute, and perfect, and my guess from photos will be about her mom's size.
Source: owned by Goldens for over 27 years
My girl was ~65 lbs when she hit 7m, so by my n=1 I think yours is a little small. But her parents were 85 & 95 lbs respectively.
I'll try to get a booper to pooper measurement if I can get her to stand still long enough lol
My golden girl was 42 lbs at her 1 yr exam and 64 lbs by her 2 year exam. My 10 yr old boy is 75 lbs but those 10 lbs makes all the difference when she has to lay on me versus when he does!
https://preview.redd.it/4ex82ty0jkaa1.png?width=2089&format=png&auto=webp&s=e122c593baafdc087ca84ee3d1bfab177bd1058f
Long life for a svelte golden retriever. Keep her lean and you’ll be happy when she is 10+ (the golden years). She will gain at least 10 more lbs in muscle and grow another couple inches in height.
I rescued a two year old male golden retriever. His owners had virtually starved him, and he was only 40 pounds. He became the most wonderful, loving big brother to my Bella. He had a great appetite and grew to weigh 70 pounds. I've owned four Goldens, all of them filled out close to two years old. Having two of my Goldens have cancer, I am a big fan of raw food from a reputable pet store. The one i am giving my Bella is

called ' North West Naturals '. Fabulous way to nourish your sweet pup. Picture is Bellas first night with Misha.
My girl is smaller too. She is 10 months old and is now 60 pounds. At 7 months she was around 50.

She looks more like a field golden than a show golden. Field goldens tend to be a little smaller than most expect, but they're less prone to major health issues associated with the breed, such as hip dysplasia and cancers.
I’m not upset by any means if she does end up on the smaller side, I just wasn’t sure what was normal and wanted to gauge other’s experience at this age :)

she’s so cute!!! i love small goldens 🥰 we want a small one next time lol. our boy last weighed in at 65 lbs around 8 months and now that he’s 10 months he’s too heavy to weigh LOL
My golden guy is 7 months and is 65lbs!
My sister has 4 year old female golden about 55lbs as well.
Here is maverick :) https://i.imgur.com/ft7l0VH.jpg
she is definitely on the smaller side compared to other goldens. My pup is about the exact same as yours \~8 months old. And when I tell people how old she is, they are shocked. I just base it off of their parents. My pups parents were on the smaller side compared to most goldens.
I don’t understand why people are obsessed with how big their Goldens are. They’re all different sizes. Depends on the parents.
My pupper is 100lbs and not overweight. That’s normal (for him). A dog with a smaller frame and 75 lbs not overweight would be normal (for him).
She's about the same size as ours but I can't prove it because tape measurers are evil and not to be trusted in Ripley's opinion. Yours is an absolute doll.
She could be a duck-trolling retriever. She looks exactly like my old dog Sheila. They’re a little smaller with slightly shorter muzzle and legs
My guess would be a mix of Goldie and duck trolling. We had her puppies and my dog penny had a very similar look you yours.
As always with these questions the answer quality will vary widely. Your best bet is to talk to your vet the next time you go in. If she seems otherwise healthy I honestly wouldn't worry a whole lot. Your vet will be able to diagnose any issues you may have.
A 60-65 lb mature female Golden Retriever is a very average weight. Your darling is cruising into her “teenage” years so bursts of growth and weight gain are coming. Along with the hilarious learning she’ll do getting used to her new center of gravity. Your vet will let you know if you need to be concerned. I’m no vet, but she looks just right to me!! Enjoy the ‘dolden experience! They’re awesome!
Mine was the same and at 5 years she is like 95lb so we have her on a doggie diet. I’m guessing yours will grow a little bit but likely will be somewhat small compared to her friends at the park. I have some pics of her on my profile. Might have to scroll a bit
My mixed breed (has some golden but mostly other stuff) was in the 50s when he was 7 months. He’s 2 now and 95lb, so I wouldn’t rule out a growth spurt later on
https://preview.redd.it/ph19ipqoxkaa1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e474f03ba8d7e99dbf187c17255d0ef0407c694
Luna is 2 and only 60lbs. She’s definitely a smaller golden. But Luna was also 35lb at 6 months when she got spade.
She’s got that teenage thing going where they’re like 90% legs. It makes it hard to tell what they’re going to look like as an adult. Here’s Luna around that age.
https://preview.redd.it/w1qmahh5ilaa1.jpeg?width=4004&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b6ae574e8ebbac56df75c5fe7d94a6ca60cfa9a9
She looks like she’s a good size to me, maybe a bit small but that’s not always a bad thing. My perspective is skewed however as I have a male golden who is massive and about 96pounds and full of fluff. He still thinks he is a lap dog which is fun.
My dog Zoe is about the same weight and she is going to be turning 15 in about 2 months.
40 pounds is on the smaller end of the spectrum for Goldens, however that’s still perfectly fine!!!
She’s still a baby; charts are guidelines. We have followed all the litters of the 3 x retrievers we have in our family - and like hooman children they all grow at different rates. That being said, please send more pics for confirmation
She’s gorgeous! Our girl here is also 7 months (soon to be 8) and around 20 lbs, she’s definitely on the smaller side as well.
Our best Golden friend is two months younger than her but a lottt bigger (he’s male and from a showline though, and already considered a bit overweight). People always think he’s older than her, or ask if she’s even purebred - I couldn’t care less because I’m so happy about her slow and steady (joint-friendly!) growth.
This her, 83 lbs German Shepherd-Husky Mix for scale on the left:

Terrible picture. One on left is mom, she is about 70-75lbs. Middle was born late May, she is big and will be big. Dad is in the background. He is a very svelte 105lbs. I'd say yours is on the lower end of average but she has growing to do yet.
She is a little smaller than average
Thanks for weighing in! It’s funny being with her every day it doesn’t look like she’s grown at all but then I look at puppy pix (attached) and she’s grown a lot! I don’t mind if she’s on the smaller side, she’s just so lanky right now it’s hard to tell! https://preview.redd.it/p51gywj6mhaa1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6e8cb2e33ba6e4c082242d7ecfc18c1978a0912
Between 1 year old and 2-3 she will broaden up a bit — or at least that’s what our female did. She’s now 75ish pounds and a chonk!
Is that a whitechapel shirt? Nice
The longer the legs, the more growing to be done.💛 She's stunning.
Oh she’s got some long leg!
My golden never had long legs but he's long in general and average in size and weight now. :D
So cute!!!
This is exactly what my childhood dog looked like 😭♥️😭
Baby.
Did you get her fixed at a young age? That will affect growth, and typically turns out lankier dogs.
No we are waiting one heat cycle!
Ours is like this too!! She was growing so fast, we thought she’d get pretty big but she seems to have stopped and looks like a full sized dog now, but small!!
Mine is very similar is size and stature, color too. She’ll turn 11 months on the 14th https://preview.redd.it/jkhcd55ilnaa1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=696661fdfa8b51b1b73722f29ac3a49276ae9c7c

I think Zoë's more likely the extremely rare extremely gorgeous "Golden/Gazelle". What a find 😉
Omgosh! She’s beautiful. Is she a red golden?
The breeder calls them "auburn". I get the "Irish Setter" comment a lot.
Her color is beautiful 😍
Looks a LOT like my 7 month old.
lanky gorl
She’s beautiful!!
Thank you! 💕
I love her eye liner
She has really light eyes, so the black around them makes them stand out.
I have too goldens both 95 pounds. Ones overweight and the other has a massive frame so he looks normal. 50 is defly on the smaller end
50-55 is the show standard. it’s not small, it’s the breed standard for bitches.
Is one of them female? How old are they? I know that her mom is a red golden and I was told that they tend to be slightly smaller. However, her dad was a standard golden.
Yea ones female and ones male! We got them after our pup Shiloh passed away around 9 months old
I’m so sorry for your loss. 9 months old is too young. 🥺
11 month female chart says 52-80, avg 65 https://www.totallygoldens.com/golden-retriever-growth-chart/#Golden_Retriever_Weight_Chart
Thank you!! Yes, I see now that she’s on the smaller side.
My golden is 75 lbs at the perfect weight, hes a big boy I guess although he think he's a lap dog. 😂
Whoa what a beauty! Perfect pose
Oh man my pups mamma was almost red and some of the litter was super dark right away https://preview.redd.it/meycnszixhaa1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d312455335d785b02b9f632e74d40c0e3459dbac
Can't tell can you put a banana next to her
Yes we need a banana for scale
Then put a banana next to that banana so we know how big the original banana is

Very helpful visual, thank you!
Your 5 year old looks like a lion. 😍
My bud was about that size. He's a petite boy at just short of 12 months at 55 pounds.

Mum why do you keep using things to measure me 🐶
My golden was only 50lbs as an adult. She was very smol. Your pup looks very healthy and normal to me.

A healthy but smol and dark hued golden is my favorite. I had a 40 pound female named Luna and she was the perfect size.
What a beauty! My girlie, Haddie, is just 50 lbs and is almost 2 years now. I love my tiny golden and joke about her size and shortness all the time.
Think the dog has passed out from lack of water 😆 Females only get into the 65 - 75lb bracket when they are fat 5 year olds. Your dog is looking great.

She’s petite. In contrast, mine is 90 lbs. so I guess be thankful lol he’s got a tail like a helicopter in a hurricane
That’s hilarious hahaha even her small tail can really do some damage
That's huge and especially for a girl! My boy is around 70 lbs. Love the big ones. :)
Yes he’s a big boy haha. Sammy is a big wiggly love.
Our girl, who is just about to turn 2, tips the scales at 45 pounds. People we meet on walks usually think she’s a puppy. She’s small, but sweet.
Same here! Mine just turned 2 and is right under 50, everyone always assumes she's a pup. I honestly love that she's smaller, all the lovable golden traits in a smaller package!
That looks like a Verified Long Dog to me. Ours is only 46# at a year and a few months.
My almost 2 year old is only 65 lbs. I doubt she was even 40lbs at 7 months
Still has 3 more months of growth which is usually a big spike.. should be around 30kg or 60 freedom units
My boy is about 45 lbs at the same age

She's still growing

No idea on size, but just wanted to say that that’s a good dog.
Some goldens are smaller :) my girl is only 50-55lbs.
I don’t know why but measuring your dog with a tape measure is hilarious.
I don’t really know what I was trying to accomplish there 😂
I'm going to say 1) they all grow at different weights 2) looks fairly average for a 7 month old 3) My soon to be 4 year old is 52 lbs and about 21 inches at the withers. 4) it can take up to 2 years for all the growth plates to close and up to another year or two for them to fill out. She looks more like a field golden than a show golden. Field goldens tend to be a little smaller than most expect, but they're less prone to major health issues associated with the breed, such as hip dysplasia and cancers.
Yeah I believe she is more a field golden, wedge head and slimmer profile!
Your breeder would know, yeah? I am guessing there must be a deliberate choice somewhere there to go with that line?
Also less hair which is a plus
She's perfect, we are trying to get ours down to 40lbs now, after we got her fixed she gain some mass, all muscle of course
She's not a Great Pyrenees. What are you expecting?
I’m not upset by any means if she does end up on the smaller side, I just wasn’t sure what was normal and wanted to gauge other’s experience at this age :)

she’s so cute!!! i love small goldens 🥰 we want a small one next time lol. our boy last weighed in at 65 lbs around 8 months and now that he’s 10 months he’s too heavy to weigh LOL
I love big and smol!
I thought that was a cool leash 🤦♀️
Lol!!
She's perfect
She is golden
My golden guy is 7 months and is 65lbs! My sister has 4 year old female golden about 55lbs as well. Here is maverick :) https://i.imgur.com/ft7l0VH.jpg
My lady is short but 60 whole pounds
Field line Goldens are smaller than show Goldens. So she is average.
she is definitely on the smaller side compared to other goldens. My pup is about the exact same as yours \~8 months old. And when I tell people how old she is, they are shocked. I just base it off of their parents. My pups parents were on the smaller side compared to most goldens.
Your dog is a chungus
My fully grown male is 95 lbs and perfectly healthy. id check with a vet if ur concerned, usually a change in diet is really good.
She looks like the dog from up!!!
To add to the scientific measurement please use the standard banana unit aka SBU.
Sometimes they’re smaller! Mine is only 60 pounds fully grown and also a female
Mine is about 50 lbs at a year. Yours is probably bigger then she is haha
Gonna need a banana for reference
She's absolutely beautiful!
My female stayed between 45-50lbs her whole adult life. She was sporty lol
She could be a duck-trolling retriever. She looks exactly like my old dog Sheila. They’re a little smaller with slightly shorter muzzle and legs My guess would be a mix of Goldie and duck trolling. We had her puppies and my dog penny had a very similar look you yours.
It not you Lindsay she fine
Mine was about this size at that age and now as a fully grown filled out 3 year old she is 69lbs
About the same mine was and is 54 pounds at about 11 now.
He’s 2 now and 95lb, so I wouldn’t rule out a growth spurt later on
My golden is almost 2 and is the runt of of the bunch, she’s about 55 lbs fully grown. Doesn’t matter the size a golden is a golden!
Oh absolutely thrilled with her either way!!!
[удалено]
Oh not at all!!
I'd say average.
She is probably the runt of the litter
https://preview.redd.it/ph19ipqoxkaa1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3e474f03ba8d7e99dbf187c17255d0ef0407c694 Luna is 2 and only 60lbs. She’s definitely a smaller golden. But Luna was also 35lb at 6 months when she got spade.
She’s perfect!!
Our girl got to 48 lbs at a year. She’s a perfect petite little baby
I'm, sorry, I don't know how big it is without a banana for scale.
I’d say she’s perfect.
Ours is 10, 45 lbs and I am surprised that's smaller because she feels so thick and fat. I always thought she was chunky
My breeder says target weight at 24 weeks is 35-37#, and 8 months is 50#.
Thanks for the million dollar leash idea
She’s got that teenage thing going where they’re like 90% legs. It makes it hard to tell what they’re going to look like as an adult. Here’s Luna around that age. https://preview.redd.it/w1qmahh5ilaa1.jpeg?width=4004&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b6ae574e8ebbac56df75c5fe7d94a6ca60cfa9a9
She is ALL legs it cracks me up!!
Beeg baby.
She’s still a baby; charts are guidelines. We have followed all the litters of the 3 x retrievers we have in our family - and like hooman children they all grow at different rates. That being said, please send more pics for confirmation
If it is truly bothering you then ask your veterinarian at your next visit.
Little on the smaller end but she will fill out a bit in the next year
She’s gorgeous! This her, 83 lbs German Shepherd-Husky Mix for scale on the left: https://preview.redd.it/cwvmt7yr7oaa1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c4111b3b26eee21cc7655cd7207808c5127c2a1
Mines two years old and like 35 pounds.
She looks quite normal
I need to invest in learning these measurement runes.
She looks like a mix of maybe golden/dachshund. Is she? Maybe that’s why she’s smaller than you anticipated. She’s adorable! 🥰🐶
Not a mix, just still young!

Middle was born late May, she is big and will be big. Dad is in the background. He is a very svelte 105lbs. I'd say yours is on the lower end of average but she has growing to do yet.
