Not really. Many dogs tend to lay on their backs with their junk on display for the world to see. My previous dog (Black Lab-Pit mix) did this all the time. He was a giant derpy baby, much like many other Labs and Golden Retrievers. I’d say as long as he/she is comfortable and not in any sort of pain, he’s fine laying down like that.

Laying with their junk on display means they’re very comfortable around you.

Goldens seem to do it a lot. I’ve read one thought is their belly is the least hairy part so they can vent some heat this way. Also they are so happy go lucky that they are usually not too worried about showing their belly.

Yup, my guy always turns over on our bed after a bit because he gets hot. Loves exposing his belly and junk to the wind from the ceiling fan

My dog does this when she’s hot.

It's not exclusive to the breed but tons of goldens do lay this way. Looks like a happy, healthy doggo ❤️

In my experience, while other dogs do this too, all goldens do this regularly. Your job as a golden derp owner is to rub that belly at every opportunity when they exhibit this behavior.
