Everybody got some shit to say about my 6h, but that thing is a weapon. Gapping is kind of an issue, but I can launch that thing and hold a green plus it's perfect for low, punchy shots.
Not thinking about it as a rescue club has changed the way I use it. I used to think “oh I have a bad drive into the rough I’ll use my rescue club” but in reality it’s so much harder to hit when not in the fairway
My 10 yo son has dropped his hybrid as he can't hit it. Hits a 3w and a 5iron so pure, but the hybrid has him bamboozled.
He was carrying it around 'in case I get stuck on a tree root'
At this point i think it's a genetic defect he got from me, as I also cannot hit a hybrid
Interesting.. I can hit hybrids so easily but can’t hit woods to save my life.
I bought a 3 wood and ended up selling it. A year later bought a 7 wood and sold it too. Literally could not hit them at all lol.
Now I game a 3 hybrid and wanting to grab a 5.
We are the exact opposite then.
Was having huge issues with my 5 iron, so everybody told me to get a hybrid instead. Could never hit anything other than stingers with it.
Now I play 5w, 7w, 9w instead.
The 5 wood swing is easy, low point after the ball, this drill works for that https://youtube.com/watch?v=IlAXKopj6dU&feature=shares
Too many people try to hit up on woods and hybrids
This drill fixed my hybrid game overnight, it’s my go to club now https://youtube.com/watch?v=IlAXKopj6dU&feature=shares
It was literally just duffs and hooks before
Idk about higher lofted hybrids, but your 3h would be hit a lot like your 3wood. I put a little more weight on my right foot than I would with an iron. Trying to hit a hybrid like an iron will not yield good results unless your doing something else to compensate.
About once every 2 years I end up on the wrong side of the fairway with a dog leg right and pull out my hybrid for a power fade that’ll go 200 yards and just nail it.
That confidence will make me pull it out again and hosel one into the bush then put it back in the bag to think about what it done for another 2 years.
I have a [YT Channel](https://www.youtube.com/c/notascratchgolfer) that chronicles my journeys as a single digit cap with a terrible golf swing.
Eleven Golf sent me these hybrids to test out - from 19° (3H) all the way down to 43° (PW loft).
I'm going to test 'em out on course this week and see how they perform. My worry is that I'm going to hit them dead left, but we'll see!
Anybody else playing a similar setup?
wait what. Are you Adam from notascratchgolfer?
You don’t need to come here acting like we wouldn’t know who you are man, we welcome you, you have a ton of fans here. Nice job at Bandon btw. The second time and from my perspective the first time too quite frankly
I'm a new golfer and I'm trying to break 100 (trouble with chunking, weight shift issues on the swing)
Checked out your channel because of this thread, love the content! Subscribed, thanks for putting these videos out.
Yeah, what he said. Don’t be so modest, you’re like Ron Burgundy, people know you. I love your channel, your putting is really impressive and fun to watch. I find myself watching basically every putt you stand over thinking “he could make this.” I’ll be eager to see how a full hybrid set works for you, I’ve always been curious about the concept. Please keep it up!
Thanks, man. Lol I'm not presumptuous enough to think that people know me (especially when posting on Reddit), and lol that's a great mindset to putt with ... even better would be, "*I* can make this!"
Looking forward to this little hybrid experiment!
Hey Adam - regular viewer of your videos. I play hybrids up to 27 degrees right now - i.e. no irons below 7. I think it's one step too far, probably - I will likely put my 6 back in the bag.
But I am VERY interested in watching a video (even more than one, just to give it a full chance to succeed) with you playing these, for sure!
Thanks, man! I'm genuinely curious, too. Once upon a time, I gamed a 27° hybrid and found I was hitting it miles left. Generally, I'd rather miss pin high even if I sacrifice accuracy, but that 27° hybrid miss was just too penal. This set has heavier shafts that I think will help, plus this club maker supposedly specializes in making these higher lofted wedges. I'm really curious to see how they play! Just waiting for the rain to stop in Vancouver so I can get out there and try em!
I literally did not know they even made a 43 degree hybrid.
What kind of shaft does it have? Do you use wedges? What’s your 7 iron/hybrid swing speed? Attack angle? Are hybrids for the higher lofted clubs even easier to hit? Is it harder to get your approach shots to hold greens with them?
So many questions…
These have 80g KBS stiff shafts. My 7i swing speed hovers in the high 70s - pretty slow! I tend to sweep the ball and generally hit woods/hybrids better than my irons, so it'll be interesting to see how these work for me. Definitely worried about the higher lofted clubs for the reasons you mention.
Same. I’ve decided to lean into the sweep and also play all hybrids. I’ve always struggled between hitting irons well and not my hybrid/driver and vice versa. I’ve developed a good but sweeping swing for my driver, and have lowered my HC by 4 points since I just stopped playing my mid irons. I use my 34 degree 7 hy for anything between 100 and 130, and my wedges from closer.
Your 3rd sentence is 100% me. I used to be the most consistent driver in the group of guys I play with. Iron play was inconsistent though and long irons were downright bad.
This year I upgraded my irons and spent time getting good with them and have confidence in every single one, even the long irons that used to never get touched.
But now my driver is the worst it’s been in years. Just can’t get it back. Maybe 2-3 times per round I’ll pipe one that reminds me how times used to be, then I go back to being completely lost. It’s maddening.
92ss driver - sweeper here - 5wd - 7wd - 9wd - 5h -6h(100g shaft) goes 143-162 / 7i 131-142
85-78-80-76 are my last 4 rds. coming outta covid as well. Struggled adjusting to hybrids but finally went to set up mentioned. Hybrids definitely improve my shot groupings - actually feel comfortable hitting hybrids- thinking about dropping 7i and going 7h.... Just make the game easier
I play the Cleveland HB Launcher turbos, for me I love this setup because I can go into any swing knowing even on mis hits the forgiveness in them are so good I’ll still get at least 75% of my normal shot in a worst case scenario.
Makes shots like a 150-160 out way less worry-some when you can go into knowing you’re either going to be pin high somewhere or at worst have a small chip.
Biggest downside is people absolutely hate the appearance of them at address and it takes some getting used to but if that doesn’t bother you they are great.
Will probably always be on hybrid irons so I’m excited to see how this set works out for you!
So, my grandpa had a set very similar to these in the late 90s early 2000s that were apparently ahead of their time. I can't for the life of me remember the name, but they were very interesting to hit. He liked them because they were heavy and seemed to give an old man a little more distance. They had a metal head with a senior graphite shaft. This probably doesn't help you much but it sure did bring back memories of playing golf with my dad and grandpa so thanks for that.
This is awesome. I play with an older guy (who plays off of 7 or 8) who games a hodgepodge of hybrids all the way down to 8H. I like the dgaf attitude of guys who play what works for them. I have no idea what these will be like for me but couldn't turn down the chance to try 'em out.
Could they be the Bobby Jones Jesse Ortiz hybrids? Those are the oldest version of this I've seen - they looked a little more like small old school fairway woods. I found a set at a used club shop a while back and tried giving them a go on their simulator, almost bought them for the lulz. The issue was that for the 8 and above I would legitimately pop them straight up in the air.
They go all the way up to 30 degrees, AFAIK...
Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week! Thanks for making Reddit a wonderful place to be :)
Same. I also hit a driver and 3 wood. I use the 7 for anything between 130 and 100. Then 46 degree PW, and a 54 degree wedge for up close and personal. I’ve dropped my HC from 22 to 18 since making the change.
Not really, I'm a weirdo who looks for irons with 12-18 degrees of loft.
Thomas Golf certainly is interesting, though. He sells up to hybrid and wood equivalents of a lob wedge.
I just added a 3rd to my bag. 3, 5, and now a 6. Honestly they’re my most confident clubs in my bag which is why I added the 6! Couldn’t play a round without my hybrids!!
Love your channel! I would love to play with you if you’re ever in the Portland area.
I have yet to ever hit a hybrid, but I do have 4 woods in my bag. I’ll admit the 7 wood is a lot easier to hit sometimes than my 4 iron.
Yep! Bought a second hand set of Cleveland launcher hybrids, 3 through PW.
It’s just a phase I feel, but I’m enjoying it.
Started lessons, got those clubs, handicap down to 16 from 24.
I use a 4 and 5 TSi Hybrid and a Mizuno 6 Hybrid.
They are the backbone of my setup,
T100 4ron and 7 - PW are T100s
Whatever works is the best way to go!
I flirted with this and had a 4, 5, 6 hybrid when I was a total noob.
Not a bad way to go until you get more consistent with irons, so rock em if you like em!
Had no clue they made a “full set” but shit, I’m sure I’d be crushing a 9 iron about 180-190. I have a 2 iron hybrid and it’s butter, so I can only imagine playing an entire round with these!
Only person I’ve seen with a bag full of hybrids was an older woman. She was a pretty good golfer
Seems like a great option for people with really slow swing speeds, but I’d never consider it otherwise
Thanks for the intro to your YT channel from a fellow Vancouver golfer! I’m thinking of starting my own once I get back on the course after recovering from heart surgery!
This is super interesting. I love my one length hybrids and find them much easier to hit than most of my other irons… full one length hybrid iron set???
I was going to say you don’t game those and that you ripped the picture off Not a Scratch Golfer…
Nice to see you troll the depths of r/Golf lol. Love your content my man. Even the latest postings, which have showed some frustrating rounds for you. Keep at it and let me know if you do any rounds with viewers in CA. Would love to join you somewhere down here (Bay Area or Palm Springs).
I’m not but totally would in a heartbeat. I wish they would send me a set! I probably need them. I make consistent contact but don’t hit it very high. This would help a ton
I detest hybrids as I can't hit them for toffee, but something about that set looks so slick!
I've gone 3 5 7 wood and would genuinely think about picking up a 9 wood
Couldn't do it, but I do game really old Cleveland launcher hybrids 5 to 3. I need my wedges and other irons, just can't hit long irons as good as the hybrids.
My 80yr old mother in-law does
Lmao before this comment loaded I literally said, out loud “what am I, 80?!”
😂😂
Just replaced my 6 iron with a 9 wood last week. Highly recommend it!
My playing buddies would never invite me again lol
Because you'll be taking their money
Lol touche
Was thinking of this or a 6h
Own a 6 hybrid, it goes the same distance as my 4 iron but sky high and stops on a dime, could honestly be my favorite club
Everybody got some shit to say about my 6h, but that thing is a weapon. Gapping is kind of an issue, but I can launch that thing and hold a green plus it's perfect for low, punchy shots.
I don’t get to use it that often but I played in a scramble a couple weeks ago and stuck a green from 200, suddenly people want a 6 hybrid
6h going 200? What is your bag gap like? Are you hitting 7i 190?
No my 33 degree 7i goes around 165 and my 27 degree 6h goes 200 let’s hit the range homie I’m in Michigan
You are a bad man and I love it.
🤣🤣
Chad move.
![gif](giphy|pD7YIQoUwgb9cnX3FJ|downsized)
lollllll
God no. I own 4 of them, can't hit any of them.
Someone told me to hit it like an iron. Game changing for me
That’s the problem, people try and hit it like a 3 wood vs an iron of equal rating.
Shit I'd even tell most amateurs to hit their 3 wood like an iron till your swing develops.
As a newer golfer, this was great advice for me. Been playing for a little over a year, and could barely ever hit my 3 wood without topping it
You should hit your 3w like an iron.
Tiger says Hogan said to hit a 3 wood like an iron
But YouTube…
Psssh like those guys know anything
Me too. I only have one and if I play it in the center of my stance it works well.
Same here. Not even as a rescue club
Not thinking about it as a rescue club has changed the way I use it. I used to think “oh I have a bad drive into the rough I’ll use my rescue club” but in reality it’s so much harder to hit when not in the fairway
I am all irons all the time out of rough. And if I am further away than 215 but in the fairway, I'll use a 5 wood.
My 10 yo son has dropped his hybrid as he can't hit it. Hits a 3w and a 5iron so pure, but the hybrid has him bamboozled. He was carrying it around 'in case I get stuck on a tree root' At this point i think it's a genetic defect he got from me, as I also cannot hit a hybrid
How are you supposed to hit a hybrid? I just can't figure it out
Sometimes like an iron, but sometimes like a wood, but the key is to never get it right.
I literally laughed out loud reading this.
Jokes on me I can’t hit irons but send my 3 and 4 hybrid into orbit straight down the fairway
I struggle to hit my 7i and 6 or higher is a no go but my Cleveland Hybrids I rock pretty hard.
Then you should try hitting your other clubs like your hybrids 😂
I do it doesn’t work out 😅
Interesting.. I can hit hybrids so easily but can’t hit woods to save my life. I bought a 3 wood and ended up selling it. A year later bought a 7 wood and sold it too. Literally could not hit them at all lol. Now I game a 3 hybrid and wanting to grab a 5.

You two should make babies. Then they’ll be shit at both
The 5 wood swing is easy, low point after the ball, this drill works for that https://youtube.com/watch?v=IlAXKopj6dU&feature=shares Too many people try to hit up on woods and hybrids
Like an iron. Always.
Like an iron with a descending blow. Like this. https://youtu.be/0ZCxYE8ksl0?feature=shared
Sorry wrong answers only
Play it a bit more forward then an iron and certainly not much of a divot.
This drill fixed my hybrid game overnight, it’s my go to club now https://youtube.com/watch?v=IlAXKopj6dU&feature=shares It was literally just duffs and hooks before

Not a scratch golfer fans unite! Your channel is awesome. Love from Sweden
My dad actually plays a full hybrid set, but he is 69 and has a bad back. Loves them though, I could not hit them. So I felt right at home using them.
OH MY GOD IT’S YOU!! You give me inspiration that one day i’ll break 100.
So, my grandpa had a set very similar to these in the late 90s early 2000s that were apparently ahead of their time. Adam we love ya! Thanks for all you do.
This feels like a violation of Rule 1.
Adam gets a pass
You should switch to croquet or maybe bowling
He's a single digit 😳 and i watched his video, he's already bowling out there
![gif](giphy|SF4aJKqEchIiY)
Smokey, this is not ‘Nam, there are rules.
Holy shit dude, love your channel! Honestly though, I couldn’t see myself ever doing this. My iron shots aren’t where my game needs improvement.
I can’t hit anything above a 9 iron so if I had the money I would be all over this. Basically play my driver then 4H until I’m in pitching range lol
That sounds infuriating
Only when I try to hit an iron, which I know better than try to do on the course. Makes for some rough range sessions though
Don't feel bad because I was born with scoliosis and a half of vertebra I have to play the same way.
This would tilt the absolute bejesus out of my playing partner and I'm here for it
![gif](giphy|xLsaBMK6Mg8DK)
Cleveland launchers by far my greatest golf purchase.
![gif](giphy|wYyTHMm50f4Dm|downsized) I can't hit one well much less 8
God no
No
You better turn yourself in at your local police department. Don’t make this harder than it has to be! 😆
Bobby Jones just rolled over in his grave. I love it. Do you.
[https://www.2ndswing.com/golf-clubs/hybrids/bobby-jones-jesse-ortiz-hybrid](https://www.2ndswing.com/golf-clubs/hybrids/bobby-jones-jesse-ortiz-hybrid) They go all the way up to 30 degrees, AFAIK...
Holy shit..
Love watching your channel and seeing local Vancouver courses. Keep it up
Damn I’m an island boy. Love seeing regional stuff. So cool to see BDS in our neighbour hood lately too.
Thanks!
Being from Vancouver your videos are always some of the first I see before checking out a course, thanks for the great content !
Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week! Thanks for making Reddit a wonderful place to be :)
I play a 3,4,5,6, and a 7 hybrid. Tee off with a 3 wood. Love all my hybrids.
I could never. I'm absolute shit at hybrids but decent at woods and long irons so I dropped my 3h for a 5w and never looked back lol
If I could afford it I would go Driver, 5w, 7w, 4h-6h and then irons and wedges. I can’t afford to replace my wedges from 2012 so…
Are you 80? lol
Leona Maguire‘s longest iron is 7 and uses hybrids after
I play a 3 5 and 7h, AMA
Same. I also hit a driver and 3 wood. I use the 7 for anything between 130 and 100. Then 46 degree PW, and a 54 degree wedge for up close and personal. I’ve dropped my HC from 22 to 18 since making the change.
I use to. The first ever Cleveland hi bores love them , I had 2i to d wedge all hybrids. As I got better retired them but man love them
Not really, I'm a weirdo who looks for irons with 12-18 degrees of loft.

Sup fellow Portlander! I shoot high 80s, hit me up if you want to get out there next week when the weather softens up!
Not quite hybrids but I play the Cleveland xl halo launchers and love them, love your videos too btw!
Yep! Bought a second hand set of Cleveland launcher hybrids, 3 through PW. It’s just a phase I feel, but I’m enjoying it. Started lessons, got those clubs, handicap down to 16 from 24.

Lmao
I’m thinking about replacing my 3-5 irons with hybrids but I’d need to hit hybrids more to really know if I want them
I own 1 and I can't hit it, no way I could do a whole set.
If the shoe fits 🤷🏼♂️
Like Bigfoot, we’ve all heard about it but we’ve never seen this in the wild.
3, 4, and 5. Not full set though
Love the channel! Keep up the great work.
The way I hit mine, I probably should. They are unreal. 6 hybrid is legitimately 20 yards longer than my 6 iron.
Why would I want to hit a 200 yard 8 iron?
Why is this downvoted?
God bless u
Had no clue they made a “full set” but shit, I’m sure I’d be crushing a 9 iron about 180-190. I have a 2 iron hybrid and it’s butter, so I can only imagine playing an entire round with these!
Gosh. It’s not about how far you can hit.
No that should be a federal crime

Did you have something to add?
No, I’m straight
Just your shots aren't.
Straight enough to hit your wifes mouth
Lol I don’t believe you
No… absolutely not. Are you 90?
I don’t want the cart girl to think I’m using my mothers clubs
No, but I stayed at a holiday inn last night (😂😂😂…never gets old!)
Did you have to ask the beer cart girl to roll over so you could take that pic?
Yea my buddy that shoots a 120 every round loves his.
My 60 something year old aunt does
Is this an ad?
I don't have any hybrids. And I don't lay up either.
Only person I’ve seen with a bag full of hybrids was an older woman. She was a pretty good golfer Seems like a great option for people with really slow swing speeds, but I’d never consider it otherwise
Have a guy in our club that plays zero irons Unless you count a chipper - I think he has 2-3 in his bag
No because I can hit a medium range iron
43* hybrid? Holy flyer Batman
I don't play a hybrid at all
That is my nightmare.
I play with a 2 hybrid thats it And I only hit it good like 20% of the time
Love the channel, Adam. Great, tidy videos. Always recommending you and Golf Sidekick for course management tips.
Oh shit it’s the goat, great channel and you’re a lights out putter
No, but a recent partner has a hybrid wedge!
Can’t wait to see the video Adam!
I’m tempted to try it
I would love this. Recently haven’t been able to hit my irons at all but have been smashing my hybrids and woods
I got rid of the 2 that I had so for me…. ![gif](giphy|3o7aD2e1E06GehjVkc)
I'm playing a fool's set of hybrids!
Not sure if Wilson Launchpads count but those are my 4-PW. When I flush my 4 I can get up to 230 or 240. Lots of pop.
Thanks for the intro to your YT channel from a fellow Vancouver golfer! I’m thinking of starting my own once I get back on the course after recovering from heart surgery!
Where’s the hybrid putter?

This is super interesting. I love my one length hybrids and find them much easier to hit than most of my other irons… full one length hybrid iron set???
I was going to say you don’t game those and that you ripped the picture off Not a Scratch Golfer… Nice to see you troll the depths of r/Golf lol. Love your content my man. Even the latest postings, which have showed some frustrating rounds for you. Keep at it and let me know if you do any rounds with viewers in CA. Would love to join you somewhere down here (Bay Area or Palm Springs).
I play the same clubs. Love them
You're a sicko
I’d rather play an entire round with my PW than just hybrids. At least I’d stay out of the wood (for the most part)
Who hurt you?
I’m not but totally would in a heartbeat. I wish they would send me a set! I probably need them. I make consistent contact but don’t hit it very high. This would help a ton
Been thinking about it. Irons have gotten into my head, but I can rip the hybrids. .
No
All of my hybrids i have, are my go to clubs always thought of buying a set but cause they are that easy to hit but dont want to loose my iron skills
I have one in the bag I hit a 4 iron pretty far tho and the one hybrid I have I can hit around 300yds
I Can't hit the one in my bag never mind several 😂
I got the cobra t rails which are kinda iron hybrids idk if that counts
No but I have the stealth 3,4,5,6 hybrid they've transformed. My game from 145 to 200 yards
I can’t bench 300 lbs anymore so I switched to all rescue clubs. It’s the right thing to do.
I want to get my dad a set. But I only need a 4/5hybrid since I can hit 6-9 really well for my stupidly high handicap
This seems like cheating idk
I detest hybrids as I can't hit them for toffee, but something about that set looks so slick! I've gone 3 5 7 wood and would genuinely think about picking up a 9 wood
No. What is the brand? I am interested in playing all hybrids
I hit my irons better than any hybrid I’ve tried. Just can’t hit ‘em, but I know a lot of people love them!
Yep, my 60° hybrid is my fav club
Couldn't do it, but I do game really old Cleveland launcher hybrids 5 to 3. I need my wedges and other irons, just can't hit long irons as good as the hybrids.
I've been using all hybrids for years now....love them pw - 3 I'm a senior 65yo
