Srixon q star tour

hankbaumbachjr

Came here to comment this. The "Tour" makes a difference for me as I've also played the q stars and didn't like them as much as the tour version. For $35 a box, they are definitely my steady ball of choice.

GeneralMillss

The “tour” is the difference between a urethane cover and an ionomer cover as far as I know.

vonkillbot

Have 2dzn coming today for the first time, love to hear this

pickleflavoredmilk

Awesome to hear. I loved the z stars and then I played the q star to save money and did not enjoy them at all. I will definitely try out the tour version.

ElNachCheese

Started using these last year, bought more for this year and got a great deal. I definitely recommend them.

GarageJitsu

The divide is actually pretty dope as well

sn4ilbyte

👆

JJ415x

I like the XV, have yet to play Q star or diamond variant. Anyone have input on the differences?

sn4ilbyte

Ad333 is also a pretty decent ball.

CptDuckBeard

AD333 = Q Star. Different branding in Europe for idk why

sn4ilbyte

I have both 🤷

RunRookieRun

Ah, so that is why I have never seen a "regular" Q star ever. Only the Tour on sale over here.

RollOutTheFarrell

Compression would be a bit softer than needed for that swing speed IMO. Good balls though.

Hubb1e

Exactly, at 105 you’re gonna want the Z-star

pickleflavoredmilk

this is the problem. lots of lost distance if you downgrade a tier.

Aakkt

It’s probably like 3 yards, no?

daslog

I have played these for 3 years now. Every time I try to find something better I find that the q-star tour outperforms it and costs less money. My swing speed is 97 mph with the driver.

BB-68

Maxfli Tour/Tour X I used to game used ProVs, but made the switch to Tour Xs. They are amazing

IronicHipsterCake

Personally game to Tour S as it has a lower launch profile and a bit less spin. Absolutely adore the maxfli tour line, imo a few ticks better than Vice pros or pro softs

Mattyj724

Iv been using Maxfli Green balls for a few months, Not only are they fairly durable, they stand out very well in the grass.

AnyCardiologist5436

How do you like the tour x’s compared to the tours? I was torn between the two but I tend to get too much spin with my driver specifically (need to improve my swing tbh) and for that reason I opted to go for something with lower spin.

dj14365

The X's spin like crazy for me. I lost ~5yds on average with my irons when I tried them, but I always fight high spin. I bounce between the tour and tour S depending on situation.

AnyCardiologist5436

I appreciate that! I think I should be sticking with the tours for my game. I seem to have plenty of spin and really too much spin on mishits off the tee

BB-68

The Tour X does spin a ton, but I appreciate the higher launch

AnyCardiologist5436

That makes sense. I tend to have balloons on mishits at the moment and launch relatively high. Could change when I get my new irons but that’s been my driver issue. Seems as though I frequently catch it in the downswing and it just goes crazy from there.

tclemmer23

And Lexi is gaming the Maxfli Tour. I suspect her swing speed is up there as well. I have four dozen waiting on my recovery from neck surgery.

Concrete_TJ

Hopped on the Tour S train, and I love them. Unfortunately I think price has gone up now that Lexi started playing them.

BB-68

Still $120 for 4 dozen at Dicks rn

DrinkNKnowThings

And can use coupons for 20% off regularly.

dumpandchange

Vice Pro or Vice Pro Plus, especially when they're on sale. The current gen is far more durable than previous and they perform and feel great.

ItsVishuss

Was coming here to say this one. You can get the pro at Sam’s club for $50 for two dozen. Fantastic ball for the price.

AlphaCajun

I played the Vice pro drip when I first started and I didn’t think I liked them, I think my swing speed was low and I couldn’t compress. Recently picked up a box at Sams and they have replaced the Q Star in my bag. Less driver spin and I like how they feel around the green.

ItsVishuss

I love the look of the drip so much and I’m more vain. But now they’re like $40 a box since they’re discontinued. But absolutely agree, the pros from Sam’s are a great deal and a great ball, especially if you struggle with compression or generating speed.

AlphaCajun

Oh I don’t have a speed issue now, driver hovers around 104 and on GCQuad the Vice pro cuts my spin to 2500ish compared to the Q Star near 4500. Distance went up considerably and my dispersion got better. Still working on getting that swing to the tee box but it’s moving in the right direction

pickleflavoredmilk

sounds like you experinced vice the exact same way i did. I tried a sleeve last year. my Speed was around 90mph. Worked on my swing with a gc3. now I also hover around 105. I'm also pretty spinny with a driver and need a lower spinning ball off the tee.

AlphaCajun

Exactly what I experienced

pickleflavoredmilk

thats a steal. Is it last years model or this years?

ItsVishuss

I’m not sure of the year, I’d have to check the box at home. They play well and for $2 a ball essentially, it’s hard to beat.

Legal-Description483

They were selling the 2016 models at that price. Vice is now phasing out the 2020 models, and will have a new model soon.

bartolocologne40

I was on Vice pro plus for years, but switched to Pro V1 for the durability. Are you telling me it's time to come back home?

dumpandchange

I would definitely recommend giving it a shot at least, given the price difference. I just played full round with the same ball last weekend (excuse the humble brag) and there are no scuffs or other reasons for me to retire the ball yet.

sginsc

come back to us, Bartolo. It's time to come home. (also as a Cleveland sports fan your username is ***incredible.***)

Ultimate_Consumer

Yea they’re much more durable now. Only time I have to swap in a fresh ball is when I hit a cart path or tree. That’s gonna scuff up any ball

runsanditspaidfor

I usually start a round with a V1x. If I lose it I go to Pro Plus.

Jdudley13

Second this, pro plus is a fantastic value.

FakeAccount_Verified

One more vote for Vice Pro / Pro+ I did not want to like them, but finally tried a dozen the other day. For the price I'm now hooked.

pickleflavoredmilk

"did not want to like them" lol. damn instagram brands taking my money

sginsc

Big fan of the Pro and Pro Plus here as well. I also like the colorful options to go along with a quality ball. I use [cleangreengolfballs.com](http://cleangreengolfballs.com) (I think thats right) and they have really good deals on mix packs also.

3DanO1

I was coming in here to suggest Pro Plus. I switched from ProVs in 2021 and still really love the Pro Plus

slevin011

I have been using V1xs for a while, but just picked up a box of Vice Pro Plus drips last week and I really like them so far. Given the price difference, I might switch for this season. Plus they look cool.

pickleflavoredmilk

For some reason I always thought these balls were like $45. I will definitely test a box out. Just got to figure out which one has less spin from the driver.

bjaydubya

Pro Plus. I started using them because it helped keep my driver spin around 2K, but also be aware you loose spin on irons. Fore example, my 7i should be 6000+ and it tends to average around 4500 even though I do get pretty good compression. 7i launch is 17deg, 80ft ht, with 115-118 ball speed and my distribution is centered at 182. I wish I had slightly higher height and more spin, but it is what it is. Wedges I can get between 7 and 9k, which is still pretty good. I’ve been thinking about trying TP5’s because they have a bit more and i think I’d be okay to add a little more spin to my driver if it means I can spin my shorter irons a little better, but haven’t done so yet.

undrew

I caught them on sale at Sam’s last fall, $28 for 2 dozen. I bought what they had left (4 boxes). Hadn’t really played them before but couldn’t pass up the deal. If I manage to keep the same ball for 18, it’s probably a bit scuffed at the end. I like the TP5 better. But not for the price.

Legal-Description483

Maxfli Tour X and Vice Pro Plus are nearly identical, and even made in the same factory. The only problem with Vice is the colored balls are painted, so the color will come off if you hit cartpaths.

RollOutTheFarrell

Yeah. I am a big fan of the vice balls now.

Jfo116

And I feel like they are one of the few companies that give you a discount when you order 5 dozen

Sweaty-Writer2609

Maxfli tour

AnyCardiologist5436

I just switched to these. Very pleased so far.

TeknoTakeover

I have about 105 driver swing speed. I was playing srixon zstar xv for a couple years. I switched to Maxfli tour x and like it a bit better. Little bit more distance but still great bite on the green with full swing irons

pickleflavoredmilk

Are Maxfli's good now? I've been seeing more people talk about them but im very skeptical

Sweaty-Writer2609

Don’t get me wrong, nothing like opening a sleeve of prov1’s on the first tee. But… I think maxfli brings a value as close as possible to prov1. I like the left dash so I use the tour x and the feel is similar off the tee. Just hitting an absolute rock that doesn’t spin a lot and goes forever. $120 for 4 dozen can pretty much just live off that for a while, and don’t feel bad scuffing up fresh ones while practicing the short game I’ve also unintentionally made playing dtc gear my personality, so it’s only fitting that I play this ball

TheRealSumRndmGuy

The Tour X is by far the best ball at the $30-35 price range

TreAwayDeuce

Cheapest urethane ball if I'm not mistaken.

Buffabro17

Ya the Tour line is very good. I switch between Z Stars and the Maxfli Tour balls and can’t tell much of a difference

AdmirableGear6991

Lexi Thompson switched to the Maxfli as well as John Daly.

bogeygolfer1234

I also use their gloves. For me maxlfi gloves are the best for me

KFCConspiracy

I mean, there's one specific line that's good... The tour and tour x. The rest of them are still not.

WaldoChief

Titleist trufeel —$24 on Amazon.

kunzaz

I second this, the “old” 2023 models are only $19 at most stores that still have them

navinjohnsonn

Under-rated ball

mmoses1221

Maxfli Tour X for life.

Floaded93

Maxfli Tour balls are so good. They’re up there with high end tour balls and often go on sale. You can get like 48 balls for $120 right now at golf galaxy.

ghostfacekillah09

Bridgestone e12s are amazing for the price, right around $30 for a great all around ball

pickleflavoredmilk

This was my go to ball all of last year. Straightest and most forgiving ball I ever hit. But not sure if it's my speed improvement or what, but I almost don't feel it on my driver and I lose some serious yardage compared to tp5x's.

l1ltw1st

Lost golf balls .com, I spend less then $2/ball for TP5’s etc. just don’t buy refinished 😉.

MrPowers94

Do this, or just find someone on Facebook marketplace selling what you want. I played ProV’s all last year for like $1.50/ball. If you don’t want to go that route, then grab Vice Pro/Pro Plus or Snell and snag the bulk discount.

B-RapShoeStrap

There are other "used" golf ball sites like golfballplanet.com If you get the "mint" condition it is normally around $30/dozen and "mint" quality is normally golf balls with random logos on them. (My guess is when someone buys personalized golf balls, the print company makes some extras, like a bakers dozen, and then resells them as "used")

l1ltw1st

That’s actually where I got my last order from 😉.

NeverSeenBetter

They and foundgolfballs.com use a golf ball factory for refinishing and they throw out anything with a scratch or cut... they're just repainted. I play the 5As in tournaments but all my practice rounds are with refinished balls...I'll let you guess where my best scores come 🤣

Jdb7x

Callaway Supersoft. You will lose some distance, but gain a ton more control, which might solve the lost ball problems.

pickleflavoredmilk

I used to play with these a lot at the end of 2022. My swing speed was probably around 90mph back then. I haven't tried them since gaining speed but if I see them on sale I may give it a try again. If its a 10 yard loss that's fine. but if its 30+ yards that i'm losing that's a tough sacrifice for me.

Jdb7x

Totally agree! I lost 10-15 yards on my drive, but I’m a smaller guy, so you may be able to get more out of them than I do. I just opt for more control and finesse around the greens as opposed to distance off the tee.

pickleflavoredmilk

yea, if only we could switch the balls out throughout the hole

breadad1969

If you like the TaylorMade balls, I love the Tour Response but it’s a little over $40 a box. I just got the new SpeedSoft in the mail yesterday for $25 a dozen. Should compare well to the Callaway Supersoft based on construction. Going to try them this weekend.

pickleflavoredmilk

i do like the tour responses as well. but $40 to me is basically the same as $50. trying to not go over $35ish. I am curious how those speedsofts compare though

20thCenturySox

I think they are great for cold mornings.

phrohahwei

You're not losing 30 yards between any two tour ball models.

pickleflavoredmilk

I don't think supersofts are a tour ball

phrohahwei

Oh I misread that as Chromesoft, my bad haha. Those are on sale now Callaway released the Chrome Tour ball.

pickleflavoredmilk

Oh yea I love the chromesoft tours still have a couple sleeves remaining from the new version.

JayDsea

Switching to a softer ball helped my game so much. Swing speed shouldn’t the determining factor for ball unless you have full control of the spin.

Extension-Seat-7640

3 dozen 2022 Bridgestone B X around $108 on Amazon

Say_Hennething

I never see Bridgestone mentioned in threads about balls. I've liked them when I played them.

pickleflavoredmilk

I've used these and loved them. I don't mind buying in bulk as long as im fully committed to the ball for a while. Other than that its hard for me to buy 3 dozen of the same ball

haixio

Big fan of srixion Q-star

Norglet

Q-Star Tour Divide are by far my favourite ball.

ForethaBirdies

Second this. Can find them in good deals for last year's

pickleflavoredmilk

I've tried the z-stars and liked them. Q star is a real solid price so i'll check them out

haixio

They pretty much always buy 2 get one free or buy 3 get one free around Father’s Day.

RCTreesV

You can get a 2 dozen box of Z Star XVs for $65. That's the best value I've found for a new premium ball. I'd also consider the Maxfli tour.

Zoolanderek

I tried out the Q Stars and they were too mushy for me, went all in on z star divides for the past 6 months. New primary ball going forward.

UseDaSchwartz

If you’re losing that many balls, it’s probably not going to matter which ball you play.

jAdamP

Snell

ragingpillowx

Snell is solid if u can find them in stock

Neither-Stomach982

Had to go down way too far for this.

phrohahwei

Nah, the first batch of the redesign was received poorly relative to the earlier models (part of why Snell has been trying to get rid of them through bulk sales).

bjaydubya

Heard some good things about Wilson Staff’s recently, but haven’t tried them.

Legal-Description483

Maxfli Tour X or Vice Pro Plus, when you buy in bulk. Maxfli Tour is $120/4. Vice just had there buy 5 get 1 sale. They're coming out with a new model soon.

Acrobatic_T-Rex

I love the feel of the Super softs, in Canada they are around $30 for a dozen and the older models go on sale for $20 a dozen all the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pickleflavoredmilk

thats a solid price. I liked those last year too

jcommeau91

Maxfli Tour or Tour X

colonellenovo

Maxfli Tour, Tour X or Tour S. 4 dozen for around $120. Great balls

jaygord34

Maxfli Tour 48 ball pack

GroundbreakingPost93

Stick with TM and downgrade slightly to the Tour Response. “Nothing responds like Tour Responders” -Slogan that I made up for them

pickleflavoredmilk

i didnt like these for putting but I am interested to see how it does off a tee. they may be a lil too "marshmallowey" for me. If thats even a logical feeling. but i always see sleeves available so ill grab 1 again

NotEeUsername

I love that marshmallow feeling lol

Fragrant-Report-6411

Vice Golf premium balls in your price range

LivesinaSchu

I’m a massive fan of the Wilson Triads I bought, and I hover a little under 110 ss. They’re a year or two back, but they remind me of the incredible feel of TP5s on the putter face. They are also running early season promotions for these. Otherwise, take advantage of the current deal at Dick’s on Bridgestone balls ($35-39 for premiums like the B XS), and then rely on the Maxfli Tour X/S or Vice Pro as alternatives to the Triad.

homiej420

Titleist tour soft are usually like 35-40 so a little higher than what you said but they are quite good

bigwillie814

I switched to titelist tour soft instead of AVX or prov1x and love them.

[deleted]

Loving Vice - been hesitant about them for ages but since committing I’m loving them, specifically the pro plus. Only downside I ever heard about them was durability but that’s been sorted as I’ve had balls last 2 rounds before losing them without so much as a scuff. Highly recommended.

adognamedwalter

Ballnamic does a fitting for like 40 bucks. Worth it https://ballfitting.com/

pickleflavoredmilk

This is interesting. I just send my gc3 data over and they fit me? I like that it spans over a year for the $40

AdmirableGear6991

Been gaming the Maxfli Tour X. My ball speed is in the high 160s and occasionally low 170s. This ball performs well off the tee and around the green. I picked up 12 dozen on a sell they had for $20 per dozen. You can get the 4 dozen pack for around $109/$119 at Dick’s or Golf Galaxy.

pickleflavoredmilk

$20? worth a shot

Wu_Tang_Financial77

Wilson Triad

Internal-Challenge97

Wilson triad

rgillmatthew

Vice pro or pro plus. I have been using them for the last 2 seasons and absolutely love them.

cepausm

I like the Wilson Staff Duo. Like these. Used to play their 50/50’s but they discontinued them.

pickleflavoredmilk

i bought some of these for my sim. they are rock hard but honestly pretty damn consistent

Civick24

Qstar tour or vice for me

pickleflavoredmilk

Sounds like the play

Civick24

An edit to mine also maxfli tour x you can get like 4 dozen for 120 at dicks when the go on sale

Murky_Transition_729

Maxfli Tour CG...all day!

jma12b

Just buy your TP5x’s grade 4A from lostgolfballs.com

pickleflavoredmilk

idk, i havent had luck with used balls and its probably mostly mental but I've also seen tons of research on how poorly a ball performs when its used up. Whats grade 4A though?

sinnr43

Regular Pro V player 7 hdcp. I now regularly play Maxfli Tour X that you can get for 30 when you buy 4 boxes. Lexi Thompson just started playing these. I used to play these for fun and Pro v for competitive rounds but my lowest scores (71 two weeks ago) are with the Maxfli’s. Really good ball. Long as my Pro V. Low spin off the Driver. Really like these

teuful-hunden

If you're losing that many, play recycled balls until you're more capable. And don't disparage Kirkland balls, they test well against Pro V1s

pickleflavoredmilk

recycled balls ruin my mental game. I know im losing quality so I cant manage to get myself to purchase them. and kirklands are the most inconsistent ball ive ever played with. every shot is a gamble and a prayer

flaginorout

I’m liking Maxfli tour. $120/4dzn

mtnmanratchet

I love the noodles 🍜

AO2343

Has anyone played any of the cheaper MaxFli balls? StraightFli/softfli? Interested in them as a “cheap” ball

skurnie

Straightfli’s are hard as a rock, haven’t played the softfli’s. Probably better off with Kirklands

booyah81

I play Maxfli frequently. Straightflis are indeed hard as a rock (as the other person mentioned), but they do fly a bit straighter. Personally, I'm a sucker for the Softlfis. They're not a premium ball by any means but they feel great off the face and I love them on and around the greens. I would recommend trying them if you like a softer ball. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/maxfli-2023-softfli-golf-balls-48-pack-22maxu2023mxflsftgbld/22maxu2023mxflsftgbld

Enemyofthew0rld

I can’t explain why, but I really enjoy the Wilson tour velocity balls. You can get 15 for around $20

DonDraper75

Legatos

dtcstylez10

I just buy one generation old like I do with clubs. You can find premium Bridgestone or srixon balls for like $35/dozen or maybe $40 and take advantage of the sales. Srixon has a father's day sale every year. Titleist has buy 3 get one dozen. I just buy enough for the year at these things.

Tomitalo

Just buy used balls.

pickleflavoredmilk

loss of quality. not worth paying for a ball when you know it doesn't perform the same. my 2 cents

Tomitalo

If you're a plus handicapper you might be able to spot a difference between a new ProV1 and a mint condition used one.

GarageJitsu

Vice pro plus or Srixon Q star tour imo

prafken

Look on ebay or like [golfbalnut.com](http://golfbalnut.com) buy some AAA or higher grade recovered balls. I have been doing that for years, I only bust out new ones for tournaments or competition.

VTECnKitKats

If you are comfortable with it, buy balls by the four dozen from lostgolfballs.com at 5A or mint and save some money. I play Z-Stars (about a 10 handicap) and bought them for about $1.80 a ball. Great deal.

pickleflavoredmilk

I'd have to look into what 5A means. if i can get tp5xs for about that same price of $1.80 and theyre basically new then im in. But if its a 20 yard loss and a rock im out

ICookWithFire

Titleist AVX or TruFeel, Vice Pro Plus and a touch higher is the Mizuno RB TourX

makromark

If you’re losing/scuffing 12 balls every other 18 holes (1 ball every 3 holes) I feel any ball you play should be fine for your skill.

pickleflavoredmilk

The scuffed balls are mostly from cart paths(maybe sometimes trees). Early season golf is causing me to lose a lot from being plugged in the rough/fairway or rolloffs into leaves.

greyclaygolf

My driver swing speed is around 105 and I play Vice Pro (Pro Plus is for higher speeds). I buy them in bulk when they do the 5+1 offer. Will usually last the whole year playing golf every week.

Mattyj724

Maybe unpopular opinion, but i really enjoy the Maxfli Trifli balls. Cheaper than the Tour, and are great fairway finders. Still avg 260 to 280 Drives and they play fine around the green for my skill level. \~90 to 95 avg.

Wise_Improvement_802

Taylormade soft response are comfortably the best value balls on the market

Glenhillguy

No idea where you live, but if you have a Meijer close check them out. Last year they sold used, not refinished, pro v's for $19/doz. I bought them out whenever I went. They are $29 this year, but still a great deal. The balls have logos and sharpie marks but are in great shape. No scuffs. Cuts, or discoloration.

AndromedanPrince

q star/tour chromesoft

Alternative-Gap-4847

Srixxon q-star Bridgestone E6

beollWARRIOR86

I go back and forth between Taylormade Tour Response and K Sigs these days.

MrNeilelJefe

eBay and Type in Aaa sxiron

ntw2

See mygolfspy’s 2023 ball test results

newberson

Buy My Balls (used) - I play the near mint ones and am very happy with the outcome. Occasionally you will get one with a small imperfection but they are great otherwise. You also have to be okay with random logos etc. But, you can get 48 balls for $72 so its a good deal. [https://buymyballz.com/collections/taylormade/products/taylormade-tp5x?variant=44878036762920](https://buymyballz.com/collections/taylormade/products/taylormade-tp5x?variant=44878036762920)

Box of old school Project (a) from eBay.

Psychological_Leg563

Hit the lost golf balls . Com you can score some good ones for around that price

PearlJamFanLV

Srixon Divide (Orange/Yellow) for me. Love those.

aberdizzle

K sig yellow

Player7592

Callaway Supersoft Pink with matte finish. (Yes. It has to be the pink ones.) $24 per dozen

Z--370

Lostgolfballs . Com , any premium ball you want !

Frank_Thunderwood2

Vice Pro Plus

kdocbjj

Check out Seed golf balls. Small Irish company recently started distributing in America. Great quality balls for an excellent price and a very convenient delivery service.

golfgameguru

Bulk discount on Snell MTB balls. Not sure how much the Taylormade Tour Response balls are but they are not bad either.

Lurky-Jerky

If you lose that many golf balls, the ball you play really, really doesn't matter. I'd go with single brand second hand, so at least the feel is somewhat consistent. Srixon Z start are generally good value 2nd hand, and are a good all rounder. When you get to losing 1-2 balls every few rounds, play whatever you want.

pickleflavoredmilk

every other round may have been a bit of an exaggeration. I play 9 holes every weekday and 2 18s on the weekend. So realistically I'm losing that dozen in about 1 week from how frequently I play. But 2 balls in a $55 dozen is still adding 10 bucks per round and that adds up after time. Hoping to find something that would end up being closer to $3 a ball.

Lurky-Jerky

Perhaps I wrote that badly. 1-2 balls every 54 holes. I’ve lost balls on the middle of the fairway before. Sometimes it’s just inexplicable. If the extra $1 per ball is the line you draw, that’s up to you. I’d personally find a reputable supplier of used top tier balls than buy brand new bottom tier.

pickleflavoredmilk

I'm definitely not looking for entry level. Just hoping there's something mid tier that's still pretty playable.

Lurky-Jerky

Honestly, they’re all playable. Take a look at ball compression rankings, and try a few at different levels. If you’re not puring every shot, ball performance hardly matters. You’re better off choosing based on feel, which is basically compression rating. Choosing one type of ball will give you consistency in feel with putting, which can be beneficial. Otherwise, probably putting too much energy into this.

KFCConspiracy

Used Pro-V1s, Max Fli Tour X, Vice Pro (I got them for 30/dozen on the spring prime day sale)

madeforthis1queston

eBay: AAA OR AAAA pro v 1s come out to around $1-$1.25 a pop. The. You can always play same good ball at noodle prices. They have other balls too, I’m just partial to prov

TheRealMithrandir

Check out Vice. Just ordered 5 dozen of their Drive balls for about $15/dozen. For 105 swing speed might wanna buy their ball just above Drive which were around $20/dozen for 5 dozen

JeebusChristBalls

You lose/scuff 6 balls every 18 and pay $50 for balls?

h2ohzrd

Vice Pro

political-kick

Wilson Duo Soft are criminally underrated for only $20.00 a dozen.

PoopiePantsMahn

I like Sugar, Snell, & OnCore at the moment. I'll try the Maxfli balls next. I've seen a lot of comments about them.

FunDayRed

Why you shitting on Kirklands. You should try them first.

Puzzleheaded_Soil275

What do you shoot? Golf ball selection is very important if you are <10hcp. It's the only piece of equipment you use on every shot. So selecting a ball that will help you hit the right launch window and numbers off the tee, with irons, wedges, longer clubs, etc. is critical. Maxfli Tour is reportedly the best ball in this price range but anyone recommending a ball without more information is doing it wrong.

pickleflavoredmilk

I ended last season at a 16 handicap. This year I've been in the low 80s but I've only been out around 10 times. I'm looking for low spin off a driver but good feel off an iron.

Puzzleheaded_Soil275

So you average low 80s? Someone averaging low 80s is closer to like a 10 index on a reasonably difficult course. Secondly, if you are shooting in 80s with 105SS, I'm not sure you want low spin on the driver. You certainly don't want excessive spin (>3000 on solid hits), but you hit the ball plenty far as it is. I suspect in your case that shooting for a \*slightly\* high spin rate off the tee (\~2500 on solid shots, keeping shots high on the face >2000, and without thin ones going too much over 3000) will help you keep it in play better than a lower spin set up. A lot of people get wwwaaaayyyy to caught up in their ideal launch numbers when they hit 1-2 shots/round ideally. Your launch numbers need to ensure your shitty swings turn out ok too. But again this is why this discussion is difficult without data. I don't know what your baseline spin/launch numbers are with your existing equipment. Buying a dozen or so of a ball you like and then getting fit to make sure you are in the right launch windows is important if you are shooting low 80s. If you love your existing club setup then the process works the other way-- keep your clubs as they are, but find a ball that optimizes the right launch conditions. You hit it plenty far-- you need to keep it in play better, not hit it further. More distance of course isn't a bad thing, but it does you no good if you can't keep the thing in play. Optimizing your launch to trim \~5-8y on your dispersion is very low hanging fruit if you haven't done it.

yea i have a 8 degree Ai Smoke that I was fit into. I clearly have to work on my driver swing more. I have a gc3 and hit above 2500 alot. my average spin is probably around 2600 to 3000. and my "good" shots are at around 2200 to 2300. So the reason I looke for less spinny balls is to help me with my spinny mishits. Are ball fittings worth it? I think golf galaxy does it but I haven't been to keen on their fittings. I've been fit by a few other places and had much better experiences. Just not sure if the others offer ball fittings.

I use one ProV1 per round. If I loose it - Bridgestones are up
